Pink readers Hitomi and Saori give me the head’s up that Lauren LC Conrad, star of MTV’s The Hills, is featured on the cover of the new issue of the Japanese magazine called JJ. JJ is a fashion magazine targeted to 18-22 year old readers and seems to be under the impression that LC is, and I quote, “the No.1 Celebrity in USA”:

UHHHHH … yeah. I suppose if The New York Times can call Heidi Montag a “feminist hero” then it’s not too far a stretch for JJ magazine to label LC the “No.1 Celebrity in USA” — and by that I mean that both publications might’ve missed the mark just a touch. At least JJ magazine, as a foreign magazine, has an excuse for their … hyperbole? I don’t even know what to call this gross mischaracterization (and I sincerely hope they aren’t being serious). It’s kinda funny to think that the entire population of 18-22 years old girls in Japan are being led to believe that LC is the top celeb in the US when there are great numbers of folks right here in the US who have no idea who she is.

[Source, thanks Hitomi and Saori]
