And brings her gay boyfriend along for the ride
Jessica Simpson Travels To Japan To Find ‘The Price Of Beauty’

Jessica Simpson, freshly dumped newly single, packed up her bags, her BFFs and her kimono (apparently) and made her way to Tokyo, Japan recently to begin filming her new VH1 reality TV series The Price of Beauty. Here are a few photos of Jessica and her always loyal gay boyfriend and hair stylist Ken Paves dressed as geishas (well, in Ken‘s case gay-shas) on the street set of The Price of Beauty in Japan last week:

When relationships end, it’s not uncommon for heartbroken lovers to decide they need a makeover. But Jessica Simpson has really pushed the boundaries with her new look. The blonde-haired singer spent four hours being transformed into a Japanese geisha with a mask of white make-up, elaborate pinned hair and authentic kimono. Jessica is newly single after being dumped by her American Football player boyfriend Tony Romo. After the unexpected end to her relationship, on the eve of her birthday, the 29-year-old got away from it all with a trip to Japan. And a change of scene certainly seems to be helping the beauty move on. She couldn’t stop giggling as she and best friend Cacee Cobb and hairdresser Ken Paves explored the cobbled streets of the Asakusa district of Tokyo, in the shadow of Tokyo’s ancient Senso-ji Buddhist temple, founded in 628. Jessica slowly navigated her way along in four-inch wooden sandals and a floor-length silk kimono with an intricate purple and gold design. Kimonos like the one worn by Jessica can cost upwards of $10,000 and with accessories such as the decorative Obi belt the price can reach more than $20,000. During her trip to Japan, to film her new VH1 series The Price Of Beauty, Jessica was shaken by the impact of a magnitude 6.6 earthquake. ‘Thought I was hallucinating,’ she posted on Twitter on Monday. ‘I have never felt anything like this in my life. Laying in bed watching CNN.’

Oh Jess … the poor dear. Why is it that everything she does seem so sadly tragic? Even when she tries her hardest to succeed it only falls flat on its face. I have a gut feeling that this Price of Beauty show she’s working up for VH1 is going to be another one of her bombs, I can just tell.

Who needs a man when you can have a gay boyfriend?
Jessica Simpson’s Drunken Night With Ken Paves

The newly single Jessica Simpson decided she didn’t need no stinkin’ man for her to have a fun night on the town … so last night, in celebration of her BFF Ken Paves‘s birthday, she tied one on and drank her blues away. Here are pics of the very boozy Jessica partying at Beso last night with the only man in her life right now, her gay boyfriend Ken:

If there’s anyone a celebrity can rely on in her time of need – it’s her hairdresser. And who better for newly single Jessica Simpson to step out with than close friend Ken Paves, as she glammed up to celebrate the celebrity hairdresser’s birthday at restaurant Beso. Blonde Jessica wore a tight black dress which showed off her hourglass figure. But although she was out for a big night, she didn’t appear to be in much of a party mood as she left the restaurant owned by Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria. Looking downcast, and fed up Jessica was mobbed by photographers and fans and appeared to be keen to exit the fuss as quickly as possible.

As you may recall, it was reported that Tony Romo broke up with Jessica on the eve of her birthday last month because he didn’t want to play Ken in her plans for a Barbie & Ken-themed birthday party. If Jess had just enlisted her real-life Ken to play with her, she might still be with her real boyfriend. Ah well … that ship has sailed. Now Jess is back on the market … but while she waits for her next Mr. Right, it’s nice that she’s got good ol’ reliable Ken Paves to lean on.

Flashing a new ring, you say?
Jessica Simpson Surfaces After Being Dumped

About two weeks ago we learned the sad yet not all that surprising news that Jessica Simpson and beau Tony Romo were dunzo after Tony decided to dump her on the eve of her birthday. Since then, Jess has kept a relatively low profile … only tweeting a few times to prove to fans that she is doing A-OK. But, it looks like her time of mourning is over and she is ready to show her face again … she’s also, apparently, showing off some new bling as well. But, before you get all excited for her, the ring is not a gift from a new man … it’s actually a consolation prize that she walked away with from a listening party for one of her father’s new acts. Here is a pic of Jess rockin’ this special new ring along with pics of Jess making her exit from the gym yesterday afternoon … both ring and Romo-less:

Jessica Simpson is sporting a new diamond ring today. No, she and Tony Romo haven’t reconciled with an engagement. Ms. Simpson hit a listening party in Hollywood last night for An-Ya, a Russian pop singer signed to Joe Simpson’s music label. Before the night was over, Jessica walked away with a $10,000 5-carat ring from party host jewelry designer Pascal Mouawad’s Black and White Diamond Collection. “If you didn’t already know Jessica just went through a breakup, you really would have no way of telling from the way she was behaving at the event,” an eyewitness reported. “She really seemed happy.” While Jessica refused to do media at the soiree, Papa Joe gave us an update on his unlucky-in-love offspring. “She’s good,” Joe said. “She’s doing very good.” Not too sure if she’ll be feeling the same when she gets wind of US Weekly’s new cover story. The celeb tabloid claims Romo is already smitten with a new gal, recent college graduate Natalie Smith (her dad is the athletic director from Romo’s alma mater, Eastern Illinois University). Smith denies to the mag that there was a romance. A rep for Romo declined to comment when we asked about the report earlier today. At least Jessica has work to help take her mind away from Romo. Joe said they leave for Japan in a couple of weeks to work on her upcoming VH1 reality show about beauty.

Ah, Jess … who needs a boyfriend when you’ve got Papa Joe Simpson always at the ready. Lawd, that girl is gonna be single forever … I just know it. But, it’s good that she’s feeling well enough to start going out to events again … hopefully she will be able to move on and away from this latest break-up and focus on her career. Granted, she hasn’t had the best luck in that arena either but … well, keep on keepin’ on, Jessica. You can do it!

Where my girls at?
Jessica Simpson Tweets Her Happiness

A week ago today we learned the tragic news that Jessica Simpson and boyfriend Tony Romo were dunzo (remember, he dumped her on the eve of her birthday on July 10) and then last Friday we saw the first photos of Tony Romo whooping it up and enjoying his new single status with some of his boys on the Sunset Strip. Perhaps in retaliation, Jessica posted a photo with some of her girlfriends out on the town this weekend on her official Twitter profile. Here is the photo and her tweet message:

Love my ladies!!! Wish I could be with them everyday of my life. Laughter is wonderful :)

Clearly, Jessica wants the world to know that she has already washed that man right out of her hair and she is a happy camper. With her ladies by her side and her trademark mile-long smile, she’s telling the world I’m OK! Whether or not that is actually the case is beside the point … at this stage in a break-up, she can’t let the guy who dumped her know she is mourning the loss. I’m not a big Jessica Simpson fan but I do feel bad for her … here’s hoping she gets over the break-up as soon as she can. My guess is that she’ll be single for some time to come.

According to 'US Weekly', he dumped her
Jessica Simpson & Tony Romo Are Dunzo!

Sad news to impart today … according to sources, Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo decided to call it quits on the eve of her 29th birthday on July 10. Apparently the couple have been fighting on and off and after Tony refused to participate in a “Barbie & Ken” themed birthday party the couple decided to end their relationship. Jessimo are dunzo, y’all!

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo have called it quits, sources tell Usmagazine.com. A source close to Simpson confirms they broke up the night before her 29th birthday July 10. She was supposed to celebrate with a Ken and Barbie-themed party. (On Simpson’s birthday, Romo spent the night at Los Angeles hot spot My House.) “She canceled her party because of this,” the source tells Us. “She’s doing OK.” Adds a close friend of Romo’s: “It’s been a long time coming.” Still, another source tells Us the volatile couple could always get back together. “They go from one fight right into another, without a second break,” the source tells Us. “It’s always something with Jessica.” Reps for both stars could not be reached.

I mean … yeah. When last we saw Jessimo together here on the blog they were enjoying happier times in NYC back around Valentine’s Day. I do not know Jessica Simpson but I imagine it is difficult to be romantically involved with her. It seems to me that she comes with a lot of baggage not the least of which is her meddling, overbearing father papa Joe Simpson. To be completely honest, I’m surprised that Tony Romo lasted this long. He endured a lot of grief during his tenure as Jessica‘s boyfriend … I guess, in the end, being with her wasn’t worth it anymore. IMHO, he would do better to find himself a less high-profile girlfriend next. I honestly don’t know who would be a good match for Jessica. I guess it’ll, eventually, be up to Papa Joe to decide.

"The Jessica Question"? Who's asking?
Jessica Simpson Does ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Jessica Simpson is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine. Unfortch for her, the cover is prolly the fuglist one that the magazine has ever published … ever. The fugness has nothing really do with Jessica Simpson herself (tho, I should confess that I don’t really like the picture of her that was chosen for the cover) and everything to do with the horrible, jumbled use of texts and graphics. It looks like a total confusing mess. Here is Jessica on the cover of the June issue of Vanity Fair along with a portion of her coverstory interview (which was shared by her Dallas Cowboys beau Tony Romo):

Having professed her love for Tony Romo – whom she’s been dating since Thanksgiving 2007 – Jessica Simpson now has the Dallas Cowboys quarterback speaking up about her. “We’re very similar in that we both appreciate the hometown feel to a lot of things, and live our life like that,” Romo, described as “big, easy, handsome,” tells the June issue of Vanity Fair (on sale in New York and Los Angeles May 6 and nationally May 12). “She comes to a ton of games,” he says. “She’s a supportive girlfriend.” Not that this has been unanimously viewed as an advantage. In what at the time was perceived as a curse – and, as Vanity Fair’s Rich Cohen points out, in Texas where the Cowboys are a religion, Simpson’s dating Romo is like she’s dating the Pope – the couple vacationed in Mexico before the Cowboys lost to the New York Giants in the 2008 NFL playoffs. The Giants, meanwhile, went on to win the Super Bowl. According to Romo, 29, between games, “A lot of people head to Vegas, go back to their hometowns, colleges, and stuff. I was just like, ‘Let’s rent a house and sit around and watch football.’ It seemed like a good decision. But when you’re in the public eye, things can be perceived differently.” He adds, “You know, it’s very hard when you lose, because games are important, and so many people put so much time and effort in. It’s nice to have someone to come home to and try and make you feel better.” Simpson, 28, concurs. “That’s how the story goes,” she says. “Can’t help it. But we don’t let it affect our relationship. If we did, we wouldn’t be together, because it happened at the very beginning. Dating the Cowboys quarterback comes with hype, the fans, the bloggers, but I’ve never dated a guy that was more simple. I’m always there for him after a game, and he knows he has me to come home to.” Home is definitely an important refuge, because, as the profile also chronicles, life isn’t always easy for Simpson. Her “sudden weight gain,” though apparently now under control, left her looking “less than slender,” the magazine reports. Then there are her professional highs and lows, which include a not particularly enviable movie box-office record and a musical identity that is anything but constant, prompting Sony Music head Tommy Mottola to say, “I think she absolutely needs to re-invent herself.” At the same time, Mottola (who signed Simpson to her first label, in 1997), warns Simpson against flip-flopping between pop, Christian rock and country music – and thereby confusing her audience. In the face of such challenges, Simpson, underscoring her spiritual self, says, “We all go through trials, but not one thing has ever made me question God. I have a great relationship with God. I can talk to him, get mad at him, frustrated with him. But, ultimately, my faith is what defines me.” Besides, she adds, “There will always be another opportunity, another door to walk through.”

Ugh, the cover is really bad … but good for her for scoring the VF cover in the first place. She really doesn’t have anything of interest to talk about with the mag. I guess I’m not entirely sure why she got the cover in the first place … she’s got no new movies on the horizon (nor any old movies worth talking about) and no new album about to be released (she actually just got let go from her Country music label) … AND it’s not even football season to make Romo‘s participation in the interview relevant. The entire feel of her VF coverpiece is focused on her apparent shortcomings and setbacks. Is any of this really worthy of a magazine cover? Surely the magazine, at the very least, published a stunning photoshoot to offset the lackluster interview … right? After the jump, check out a few photos from Jessica Simpson‘s Vanity Fair photospread and judge for yourself …

What a great topic for a Country Music song
Jessica Simpson DROPPED By Her Record Label

As soon as Jessica Simpson‘s name was noticeably removed from the websites of Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Nashville, blogs started buzzing that she had been dropped by her Country Music label … and it turns out that that’s exactly what happened. While Simpson‘s PR person is trying to spin the story by saying that Jessica was only “on loan” to the Country Music label, the result is the same … she is no longer with Sony Music Nashville. She’s been canned, y’all:

Looks like Jessica Simpson’s country crooning days are over. The singer, 28, is no longer with the Sony Nashville label, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com. Earlier today, blogs were abuzz that Simpson was dropped from the label after her name was noticeably missing from both the Columbia Nashville and Sony Music Nashville websites. Simpson also skipped Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards, even though she announced the nominees earlier this year. But the singer’s rep tells Us, “She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album.” Simpson, who has released pop albums on the Epic label, “is and has always been an Epic artist,” her rep adds. “She continues to be on Epic’s label.” Although Simpson’s country debut, Do You Know, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country charts, it only sold 172,876 copies as of February. Simpson also struggled as she opened for Rascal Flatts this year, often flubbing lines or forgetting lyrics altogether. (It didn’t help that critics seemed to focus more on her weight gain than her singing.)

It seems clear to me that if Jessica Simpson had been a successful Country Music artist, she would not have been dropped by the label — but the “loan” excuse is a good one. It remains to be seen if this setback will result in the end of her career in Country Music but, to be honest, she really hasn’t had much success with any aspect of her music career. Well, at least she has acting to fall back on … er, tho, she hasn’t had much success there either. HMMM … what else is Jessica Simpson good at … does anyone know? Mebbe if that little thing can get figured out then she can plan her next step. One thing’s for sure, State Fairs and Hot Dog Eating contests are sure gonna be lonely in the foreseeable future without Jessica Simpson there to perform anymore :(

Still goin' strong
Jessica Simpson & Tony Romo Celebrate VD In NYC

Jessica Simpson, who has been having a bit of a rough time in the media lately, hooked up with her current love interest, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, in NYC yesterday so that the pair could get a jump start on their Valentine’s Day celebrations … here are a few photos of the happily, still attached couple steppin’ out for a late afternoon lunch yesterday afternoon in the Big Apple:

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are more in love than ever – and are planning to spend a romantic Valentine’s Day a deux, a source tells PEOPLE. “They’re very much looking forward to spending Valentine’s Day together,” says the source close to Simpson. “[Tony] is the nicest guy. He adores her. They are so in love with each other.” Whatever their specific plans, the couple will be in Rochester, New York, for the romantic day where she is opening for Rascal Flatts. On Thursday night, Simpson strutted onstage in a sexy black mini-dress at Madison Square Garden and dedicated “You’re My Sunday” to her Dallas Cowboys quarterback beau, who was in the audience with some friends and Simpson’s parents. “There is something about being in love, right?” Simpson told the audience. “It just makes you appreciate everyday, right?… That’s kinda how I feel right now.” According to a source, Simpson waved at Romo before she started the song and he waved back. “He had the biggest grin,” says the source. “Then, Tony was singing along to the words.” After Simpson sang her tune “Angels,” Romo was equally enthusiastic. “He was like, ‘She nailed it! Awesome!’ ” says the source. During the show, Simpson, who is known for her self-deprecating humor, joked about previous wardrobe malfunctions she’s had at Madison Square Garden. “I’ve had times when my pants split right down the middle,” she told the audience. “That’s why I’m wearing a skort – not a skirt, not a short – just so they wouldn’t split.”

Heh. With a hottie boyfriend like Tony Romo, I bet it’s tough to let other, extraneous nonsense get you down … even still, I’m sure Jessica‘s had a rough week to deal with and I bet she’s happy to be back with Tony and her family in NYC. I must admit, altho I really liked Tony when he was matched up with Carrie Underwood, I am pleased to see that things have been working out nicely for Jessimo. They seem well suited … and I wouldn’t at all be surprised if an engagement was forthcoming. Jessica is the marrying kind … it remains to be seen if Tony is as well.

Who wears short shorts? She wears short shorts.
Jessica Simpson Dons Her Daisy Dukes Once More

Jessica Simpson took to the stage at The Kohl Center in Madison, WI last night as she opened for Rascal Flatts wearing a pair of her once-trademark cut-off Daisy Duke jean shorts paired with cowboy boots. As you may recall, Jessica took a lot of heat earlier this week when new photos of her came out that some people found fault with … in the days since, Jess has been carrying on by performing at various tour stops around the country — to marginal success. Here are a few photos of Jessica and her Daisy Dukes in Wisconsin last night:

Jessica Simpson is a brave girl to risk wearing an outfit like this at a time when so many people are saying really horrible things about her. I’ve contended that she looked fine all along and these pics are no exception. Jessica is what she is … some call her ditzy, some call her talented, some call her unintelligent — but you simply cannot call her oversized. No way. She looks pretty damn good in these shorts and I applaud her for wearing them. I just hope she was wearing them for herself and not for anyone else. The public will always be impossible to please at all times, as long as she is happy with herself then nothing else matters. She may have come apart on stage a little during her performance in Grand Rapids, MI last Thursday but the girl’s got guts to keep soldiering on night after night well aware that her critics are waiting for more ammunition to use against her. I have to reiterate, I am not a fan of Jessica Simpson‘s music but I am a fan of her ability to remain resolute and strong in the face of such scrutiny. She’s got my support, I hope she manages to stay strong and outlast this stupid criticism of her weight. If she has to keep singing to do it, well, I guess I’m OK with that … begrudgingly ;) You go, Jess.

Thanks fans for their support
Jessica Simpson Performs In Virginia

Yesterday we saw a few photos of Jessica Simpson making her arrival in Charlottesville, VA ahead of a live performance (opening for Rascal Flatts) scheduled for last night at the University of Virginia‘s John Paul Jones Arena. It was the first time Jess appeared in public since photos of her previous performance last weekend (showing her curvier new figure) sparked much conversation (some, not very nice) about her weight. Last night, Jess took to the performance stage again and sang her heart out (making the faces to prove it) and, at the close of her set, thanked her fans for their support:

In her first performance since the flap over her figure, Jessica Simpson strutted across a Virginia stage in skin-tight leather pants Thursday night and lamented the world’s “completely pointless” focus. “Thank you for your support,” she told the crowd in Charlottesville at the end of her set. “Stay positive, and pray out loud! I love you guys, good night.” Simpson, 28, never specifically mentioned the news of her new curves or the vocal support from her sister Ashlee and Kim Kardashian. But in her performance opening for Rascal Flatts at the University of Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena, Simpson was no-nonsense and outspoken in her black pants, V-neck T-shirt and hip-length black jacket. “Please remember, no matter what you go through in life, somebody else might have it harder,” she told the crowd. “So just appreciate.” She added: “I feel like in our world today we focus on so many things that are completely pointless.” Fans overwhelmingly supported her. “She’s obviously comfortable with herself to wear those leather pants,” says UVA freshman Laura Tiezzi. “Good lord, give the woman a break, she looks great,” adds Debbie Stollings, a 43-year-old kindergarten teacher in Charlottesville. “It’s mean. She looks more curvy, more womanly. She looks healthy. If Tony Romo’s happy, everybody else need to be too.”

While I still contend that Jessica‘s facial expressions on the concert stage are too ridiculous for words (an opinion I’ve held for quite some time), I think she looked great on that stage last night … freaky faces, notwithstanding. I imagine that it cannot be easy for her to hear some of the nasty things being said about her so I honestly believe she is genuinely thankful for the support she’s received from fans.

After her airport arrival yesterday but before her live performance last night, Jessica was spotted on the streets of Charlottesville yesterday afternoon … lookin’ about as fine as she ever has:

I blame that really fug outfit she wore last weekend on all this insane “controversy” about her weight. Again I say, she looks happy and healthy and that is all that matters. Keep doin’ your thang, Jessica. I may not be a fan of the music but I am a big fan of your resolve to not let the haters get you down.
