There has been a bit of talk recently that Jessica Simpson might be pregnant. In recent weeks Jess has been lookin’ a bit more healthy and then, all of the sudden after only 6 months of dating, she went and got engaged to be married to Eric Johnson. Just this week, Jessica pulled out of a live performance on The Early Show on CBS due to illness. All of these circumstances have lead people to guess that Jess might be hiding a pregnancy. BUT according to a new report from E! online, Jessica Simpson is NOT pregnant … yet:

The timing of their engagement was suspect from the start. And they have only been going out for about six months (what’s the rush, guys?) … But is Jess really pregnant with fiancée Eric Johnson’s baby? Hold onto your ever-mounting evidence. This rumor is … So false! For now. “She is not pregnant,” a source close to the 30-year-old told E! News. But it’s no secret that she wants to be. Just last week, a Simpson insider told E! News that Jess is itching to graduate from her auntie duties. “She wants to have a baby,” the source said. “Like, really, really wants a baby. She’s been giddy with her friends and that’s the extent of the planning, but she’s thinking baby.”

There is no question that Jessica Simpson wants to become a mother. If I recall correctly, homegirl has wanted to get knocked up since she was married to Nick Lachey all those years ago. I’ll admit it, I kinda thought that Jess might be pregs when news of her sudden engagement was announced this month but I guess she’s actually not pregs … just yet. While I personally am not too keen on the hasty engagement so soon after Eric got divorced from his ex-wife, I am hopeful that Jessica Simpson is truly happy and in love. Jess would make a great mom, I just know it. I’m sure we’ll be hearing news of her pregness sooner rather than later … just not yet.

Last weekend we learned that Jessica Simpson and her newly divorced boyfriend of 6 months have gotten themselves engaged to be married and today we learn from In Touch Weekly magazine that the couple celebrated their engagement with a small party with family and friends last night. Less than a week after In Touch exclusively confirmed her engagement, Jessica Simpson celebrated her upcoming nuptials with friends, family and, of course, her fiancé, Eric Johnson, at her parents’ Encino, Calif., estate on November 18. The bride-to-be’s mother, Tina, threw a casual party with pizza and finger foods from La Loggia Italian Bistro and roses from Mark’s Garden for 50 guests, including Jessica’s sister, Ashlee, her brother-in-law, Pete Wentz, and her best friend, CaCee Cobb. “Jessica and Eric looked so happy,” an insider tells In Touch. Not all was smooth sailing, however — the singer, who along with her former football player beau arrived two hours late for the soiree, seemed anxious for guests’ approval of her unique ruby engagement ring. “At one point, she asked one of the servers what she thought of the ring. When the server said it was beautiful, Jessica snapped, ‘You don’t mean that!’” the insider says. But all in all, the blond beauty enjoyed her celebration. “Jessica is in love,” the insider adds, “and kept talking about her wedding plans and new life with Eric.”

LOL at the bit about the ring. While I have no doubt that In Touch is mostly right about the deets from the party, I’m guessing the ring bit is just a gossipy embellishment tossed in for good measure. In all honesty, this little engagement party sounds like it was a fun, tasteful affair. I mean … they ate pizzz, y’all. You gotta love how they’re keepin’ it real. I suspect that we’ll be hearing wedding plans soon … after all, Jess and Eric seem anxious to get themselves hitched as quickly as possible. Let’s just hope they at least hold off until the new year.

Yesterday we learned the happy and somewhat surprising news that Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson — her *just divorced* boyfriend of about 6 months — have gotten themselves engaged to be married. Today, we get our first look at Jessica‘s sparkly new engagement bling which she happily showed off at an in-store appearance at a Dillard’s department store in Overland Park, KS over the weekend … behold:

Her boyfriend of five months, Eric Johnson, proposed to Simpson with a three-stone ring that features a central ruby flanked by two diamonds. “She was in a really good mood,” an eyewitness at the store tells PEOPLE. “She was very friendly and sweet. She signed autographs and seemed to have a great time.” Only a few weeks ago, the singer, 30, gushed about her beau, 31, to PEOPLE – but didn’t want to “jinx” their relationship. “He’s the one for me right now!” she said. “I’m very happy! I’m in a great place, and if right now could last forever, I’d take it.”

While I still think it’s a bit too soon for Jessica and Eric to be getting married (especially since he’s only been divorced from his wife for a couple of months and the couple have only been dating for half a year), I do wish them all the happiness and luck in the world! Every couple is different and if they feel ready for marriage then more power to them. I just hope, for Jessica‘s sake, that she is not rushing into anything too quickly … with her track record for heartbreak, I’d hate for her to have to endure another painful break-up. Now, I’m not saying that Jessica got engaged because Nick did (necessarily) but … well, the timing is just curious that’s all. To be honest, this engagement seems a bit fast … where Nick and Vanessa had been dating for 5 years before deciding to get married, Jess and Eric have only been dating for a mere 6 months. Jessica Simpson paid a visit to some of our US military personnel stationed in the Arabian Sea over the weekend to spread a bit of cheer … but unfortunately, according to reports, she got a bit sea sick in the process. Undaunted, Jess soldiered on (as it were) and pushed thru her performance … and even managed to recover enough to sign a few autographs and pose for a few photos. Jessica Simpson fought through a bout of seasickness to perform for troops on a U.S. NAVY aircraft carrier stationed in the Arabian Sea at the weekend. The singer spent two days aboard the USS Harry Truman, meeting seamen and auditioning singing sailors to perform with her when she switches on New York’s Christmas lights later this year. But Simpson struggled when it came to performing for troops after the sway of the sea left her feeling nauseous. After seeking medical attention onboard, the singer went ahead with the show, but was shaky behind the mic, according to audience members. A sailor’s wife tells the National Enquirer, “Jessica was a real trooper. After a quick visit to sick bay, she was signing autographs and joking with servicemen and women about the reasons for her bad gut. In fact, she was totally accessible throughout the trip – posing for photos in a Super Hornet jet fighter and taking pictures with everyone who asked.” “Her show may have been a bust but she was still a hit with the sailors.” The sailor who Simpson picks to sing with her will also record a duet with the pop star for her upcoming Christmas album.

Aww … what a great story. Even despite her illness, Jessica managed to push on in order to spread as much cheer as possible to our brave servicemen and women over the weekend. It is so small thing when celebrities take time out of their schedules to make their way overseas to visit with the troops. I may poke fun at Ms. Simpson from time to time but I absolutely love and respect all the work she does to entertain our military personnel. Well done, Jess … and keep up the great work!

Miss Simpson was later attending Macy’s ‘Find Your Magic’ launch, which is the department store’s new commercial unveiling. A year ago this week we learned the terrible news that Jessica Simpson‘s beloved dog Daisy Mae got snatched away by coyotes right in front of her face. For a few days, Jessica futilely hoped that her tiny dog would be able to fend off a pack of coyotes and spent some time and energy to search for her pet pooch … but she eventually gave up and realized that Daisy Mae was gone. Yesterday, Jessica posted a tribute message for her beloved pet on her official Twitter profile:
