It is time again for People magazine to release their annual 100 Most Beautiful People issue and this year they have selected actress and breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate to grace the cover of the issue. Christina herself credits her man Martyn Lenoble for her beauty and talks about how his love for her is what makes her beauty shine. She has an “angel” of a boyfriend, Dutch bass player Martyn Lenoble, “who loves me from head to toe.” She has a cozy Malibu beach house that she calls “the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.” And, after a very public battle with breast cancer that has given her a gratifying “feeling of purpose,” Christina Applegate has a new lease on life. “I used to be really shy but I started to come into my own in my late 20s and early 30s,” Applegate, 37, tells PEOPLE in the cover interview for the annual Most Beautiful issue – her first interview since her reconstructive breast surgery last November. “Now I’m not afraid to speak up in a room full of people and be a part of the conversation.” The Samantha Who? star says she’s finding balance and embracing her body after undergoing a double mastectomy in July. “You have to get through the physical transformations then buck up, go to work and try to be the normal, happy Christina for everyone around you,” she says. One source of strength has been Lenoble. “He’s been a friend for about 13 years,” Applegate says. “Our relationship gets stronger and stronger. I’m really lucky.” And, more importantly, he makes the actress feel “beautiful” about her new body. “I’m very grateful to Martyn for coming along at a time that he did because he’s been my rock through all of this,” Applegate says. “He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about.”

Considering the life-changing effect that enduring a double mastectomy has on a woman, I am very impressed with Christina’s attitude about her beauty (which is on full display in this issue of People magazine). I, for the life of me, cannot imagine what it must be like to survive a bout with cancer so my hat is off to her in that respect. I suppose congrats are in order for being named by People magazine as one of the 100 Most Beautiful People. She’s baaaaack! Shannen Doherty joined the cast of The CW series 90210 on set at the Gay and Lesbian Center in Hollywood this weekend. I assume that an upcoming ep of the show may have a gay storyline but it could just be that the center will merely stand-in as something else on the show. In any event, Shannen was proudly showing off a new dude on set but it was unclear what, if any, the state of their relationship is. Jennie Garth was also on set, proudly showing off a No on Prop 8 sign she got from the Gay and Lesbian Center to show her disdain for the discriminatory proposition’s passage here in California:

As we learned previously, Shannen was asked back to appear in two more eps of the series later on in the season and it looks like she’s begun work filming those eps. No word on if any other Beverly Hills, 90210 alums will be appearing on the spin-off this season but at least now we know that Shannen is back for sure. I just love that Jennie Garth has joined the chorus of celebs who are vocalizing (in whatever way they can) their opposition to Prop 8 in this State. I understand another round of protests are taking place today … and for the foreseeable future. A few Pink readers have asked if I knew of any planned protests coming up so I offer THIS link to a list of events that should be updated as new events are planned.

In any event, it’s great to see Shannen back to work again (we’ll see if this new guy turns out to be someone relevant) and to see Jennie be so awesome :)

The hit Broadway musical Spring Awakening had its red carpet opening here in LA last night at the Ahmanson Theater. This touring version of the show, whose last stop was San Francisco, CA, has made its way to LA and premiered last night. Here are a few pics from some of the red carpet arrivals last night:

As you can see, some castmembers from The CW’s 90210 came out for last night’s premiere. You may recall that the fictional kids at West Beverly High put on a performance of Spring Awakening at their school this season on the show. Interestingly enough, none of the 90210 actors who came out for last night’s premiere were actually involved with the fictional staging of the musical on 90210 (Jessica Lowndes’s character Adrianna was supposed to play the lead but had to be replaced after she got cracked out on drugs … on the show). David and I were very lucky to attend last night’s premiere opening and I’ll have my review in my TV Guide post later in the day. While the group of celebs who came out for last night’s opening wasn’t necessarily stellar, there were a lot of fun people in the hiz to enjoy the fun last night. Spring Awakening will run at the Ahmanson Theater until December 7.

Last week we learned that 90210 co-stars Jessica Stroup and Dustin Milligan have sparked up a real life off screen romance together when Dustin was caught doing the walk of shame after spending the night before at Jessica’s LA pad. Today we learn that other 90210 co-stars Jessica Lowndes and Adam Gregory (who play Adrianna Duncan and Ty Collins, respectively) have also hooked-up together when they were spied engaging in a little shopping together here in LA earlier this week:

Now, just because Jessica and Adam spent an afternoon together shopping doesn’t necessarily mean that they are romantically involved … but there is some hand-holding going on in these pics and you will note that Adam is happily carrying Jessica’s shopping bags from Intuition — a sure sign that the couple are truly, madly, deeply in love with one another, yes? I gots ta say, I’m not really feelin’ Adam’s new facial hair … it’s not a good look for him and he should shave immediately, thanks! And how about last night’s ep of 90210, y’all? Despite the severe lack of any of the old skoolers, I was pretty entertained by the episode. I can’t say that I wasn’t expecting that cliffhanger but I am very intrigued to see how it will play out in next week’s ep.
