New American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, who just released her new album Love? this past Tuesday, got the party started on the competitive reality TV show American Idol last night with a surprisingly vigorous performance of her single On the Floor. J. Lo was joined by rapper Pitbull (who guests on the track) for last night’s performance and she truly exhibited a return to form on the stage. In recent years, Lopez‘s performance style has been very lackluster (you may recall J. Lo fell on her ass during a sad performance at the 2009 American Music Awards) but with her new album (buoyed by her new job on Idol), it looks like Jenny from the Block is back as a serious pop star. Last night the Who’s Who of the Fashion Elite made their way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to attend the annual “celebrity prom” event known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala … and the most extravagantly beautiful (and not quite beautiful) couture fashions were shown off on the red carpet. The theme of the Gala Ball this year was Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, in honor of the late fashion designer. As you should know, the design house of Alexander McQueen was responsible for Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress last weekend … so this MET Gala Ball was only the latest tribute to McQueen‘s important impact on Fashion. Jennifer Lopez, who will be releasing her new album Love? in just a few short weeks, was spotted on the Mexican set of her new music video for her single I’m Into You with William Levy, the man referred to as “the Brad Pitt of Mexico”. J. Lo and Levy looked awfully cozy together as they filmed her video … check out some pics from the set below.

Back in January we got our first listen of an early version of Jennifer Lopez‘s new single On the Floor which, IMHO, wasn’t all that thrilling. Since then, the song was improved upon and right now we get our first look at the music video for the track. As you can see below, guest rapper Pitbull is featured in the video and it looks like J. Earlier today we learned that the relatively unknown artists Esperanza Spalding (Best New Artist) and Arcade Fire (Album of the Year) took home two of the biggest awards at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards last night … but right now, we get to check out some photos from some of the other Grammy attendees and winners from last night’s show. The big winner of the night was Country act Lady Antebellum. They walked away with two of the most prestigious Grammy Awards of the year — Record of the Year and Song of the Year — and won 5 of their 6 nominations. BUT, there were other winners as well. It was a big night for music here in LA last night.

New American Idol judge and former pop superstar Jennifer Lopez has got some new tunes for us to listen to this fine weekend. J. Lo has recorded a cover of the classic song Venus (Shocking Blue, Bananarama) that will be used in a commercial for the Gillette company (who sell the Venus women’s razor). Additionally, a new song titled On the Floor (featuring Pitbull) has leaked its way to the Internets that gives us a taste of what her new album Love? will sound like. To be honest, both songs give me reasons to be very concerned.

Jennifer Lopez spend a few days in Las Vegas, NV earlier this month taping new episodes of American Idol and fell so in love with the Cirque du Soleil show The Beatles LOVE that she went back to see the show again with family and friends last night on New Year’s Eve. J. Lo flew in their closest family and friends for the 7pm show last night and said goodbye to 2010 with the music of The Beatles.

Back in February, after her disastrous single Louboutins failed to catch fire on the airwaves, Jennifer Lopez got dumped by her record label … which threatened the release of her new album titled Love? At the end of March, we learned that Def Jam Records gave J. Lo a new record contract and it seemed like the release of her album was imminent … then … nothing … for months. It is now mid-December and we are finally hearing about Love? again. J. Lo debuted the official album cover artwork for Love? on a 10 Most Fascinating People Barbara Walters special that aired on ABC last night … and here it is:

While I am underwhelmed by the album cover, I am curious to hear it. I’m hoping that Love? has been entirely revamped because if it’s full of the same Louboutins crap, it’s gonna be a failure methinks. But, whatever the album sounds like, it’s scheduled for release next year (reportedly January or February) and we will soon be hearing the songs Good Hit and Take Care soon.
