Dexter co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were spotted in Long Beach, CA this week filming their first scenes together for upcoming 6th season of their show. As you may recall, MCH and Jen –who play brother and sister on the show — announced the end of their short marriage after the last season of Dexter aired last year … so this would be the first time they had to work together since they began divorce proceedings. I wonder if it was awkward.

On Tuesday we learned the very sad news that Dexter co-stars and real life married couple Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter have decided to end their marriage … and today we learn that the couple have taken things one step further toward divorce. Jennifer filed divorce papers in SoCal yesterday which very likely means that there will be no reconciliation:

TMZ has learned … Jennifer Carpenter just filed her petition for divorce this afternoon from her “Dexter” co-star Michael C. Hall … but it turns out they’ve been separated for a long time. According to the document, the date of separation is listed as August 9, 2010. Carpenter cites “irreconcilable differences” in the petition filed in L.A. County Superior Court. Carpenter is also asking for spousal support and for attorney’s fees. The couple, who married in 2008, have no children.

UGH … this break-up is just so sad. I just can’t get over it. What makes the matter even worse is the irresponsible rumors going around that actress Julia Stiles has anything to do with the couple’s break-up. It is the easiest and laziest assumption to claim that Julia — who joined the cast of Dexter this season in a guest starring role — started an extramarital affair with MCH and to blame her for the split. I just don’t understand how people can believe a cheating claim like this when it is based on no proof at all. Just because MCH and Julia Stiles acted together on the show, they had to have been engaging in a cheating affair? Because of all of the irresponsible rumors, Julia Stiles felt compelled to issue a statement denying that she had anything to do with MCH and Jennifer‘s split. Very sad news to pass along today … Dexter co-stars and real life husband and wife Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter have decided to end their marriage after only about 2 years together. I first got word of this split while on an airplane late yesterday and I literally gasped out loud and frightened the woman seated next to me. Needless to say, I was very shocked and bummed to hear the news that MCH and Jennifer Carpenter are dunzo:

After nearly two years of marriage, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, 39, and Jennifer Carpenter, 31, are divorcing. An exclusive joint statement to EW from their representatives read: “Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.” Both reps add that the split was amicable. The couple — who met on the set of the Showtime drama, in which she plays his foster sister — married on December 31, 2008. Hall completed treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier this year.

I have to admit … I thought it was odd when it was first reported that MCH and Jennifer were dating, but only because they play brother and sister on Dexter and I had a hard time seeing them as non relations. But once I got used to the idea that they were romantically involved, I really loved them together. When MCH endured his cancer battle and came out victorious, I was so happy to know that Jennifer was by his side the whole way. We do not know what the cause of the split was nor do we know when the couple first became separated … but we do know now that the couple are over. As you may know, the 5th season of Dexter just ended on Sunday and then news of the split came yesterday on Monday … it’s clear they held off on announcing the news until the Dexter finale. Since they are both very talented professionals, I don’t expect this split to ruin their working relationship on the show (Dexter will be back for Season 6) but still … it’s a major bum out :(

When last we saw Michael C. Hall out and about he was spotted on the NYC set of his new film East Fifth Bliss lookin’ as happy as can be. As you may recall, MCH recently underwent radiation therapy after he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and we learned from his wife Jennifer Carpenter that he is now cancer-free! MCH and Jennifer were spotted here in SoCal this week lookin’ as happy and normal as ever as they made their way out of a dinner date at Kendall’s Brasserie:

Awww … don’t they look so great together? I am really thrilled to know that Michael C. Hall is doing well, is back to work and is enjoying life with his beautiful wife. MCH is honestly one of my fave actors and I cannot WAIT for the next season of Dexter to get underway. Considering that teaser spoiler we recently heard about the upcoming new season of Dexter, new eps can’t get back on the air soon enough for me. Keep up the good health, MCH!!

Is it September yet? With six months standing between now and the season five premiere of Dexter, I tried to pry some serious scoop out of Michael C. Hall, Julie Benz, Jennifer Carpenter and the rest of the gang—begging didn’t work, and neither did bribing!—and while they were tightlipped, I did manage to learn a thing or two about what’s to come while moderating the show panel at Paley Fest Thursday night. We also learned how Michael’s health is now, and watched him and his real-life wife Jennifer answer a question about their marriage for the first time. Spoiler Alert! Hot on the heels of his wins this year at the Golden Globe Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards for his amazing work on Dexter, Michael C. Hall stepped out with his beautiful wife and Dexter co-star Jennifer Carpenter to run a few errands together yesterday afternoon. They look so happy, so in love. I love these photos. As you may recall, MCH announced a couple of weeks ago that he is successfully battling cancer but you wouldn’t know it by looking at the smile on his face. I wish nothing but the best for MCH and Jenny C. May they live long and very happy lives together!!

Last night members of the Screen Actors Guild made their way out to the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA to attend and revel in the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. As we learned earlier today, Betty White was honored at the SAG Awards last night with the Lifetime Achievement Award but there were many other awards handed out last night. The Screen Actors Guild Awards are voted on by members of the Screen Actors Guild so, essentially, the actors themselves decide who gave the most award-winning performances of the year. Except for the Academy Awards, I believe the SAG Award is the most coveted by actors because they are given by the actors themselves. Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds took home the top award last night for the Best Ensemble Performance Award (Film) while Glee took home the award for Best Ensemble Performance Award (Television Comedy) and Mad Men took home the award for Best Ensemble Performance Award (Television Drama). Last week we got our first look at the various coverphotos for GQ magazine’s special multicover edition of their Man of the Year issue and last night, at the Chateau Marmont, GQ hosted a party to celebrate those men. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals … which, strangely enough, included male pin-up model Levi Johnston and True Blood hottie Alexander Skarsgård who dished a bit about the upcoming third season of TB:

Skarsgard, 33, who plays brooding vampire Eric Northman on the HBO hit series True Blood, will begin shooting season three along with the rest of the cast later this month. The actor told RadarOnline.com that fans can expect a lot more from Eric this time around. “There’s a lot of nudity,” he said. “As far as Eric goes, there’s going to be a lot violence and a lot of sex — with women and men! So it should be interesting.” At 6-foot-four, Alexander’s model good looks are just as striking in person as they are on the small screen. Last season, he had to get up close and personal with True Blood co-star Anna Paquin — who in real life is engaged to co-star Stephen Moyer. But Skarsgard says there’s no tension on set. “No. I mean, I can’t wait to get back to my L.A. family,” he said referring to the True Blood cast. “I love Stephen, we’re friends and I love Anna. They’re great together. I actually think it makes things easier that way.” So there were absolutely no sparks flying between Skarsgard and Paquin during last season’s steamy love scenes? “Not at all,” he said. “Anna and I are completely platonic, and Stephen knows that.”

“A lot of nudity” — yeah, that is *just* what I was hopin’ to hear ;) I love Skarsgård and I’m always glad to see him out and about at these types of events … he seems like such a nice, approachable guy. As far as the other guests, well, it looks like GQ took grain pains to ensure that their event was a classy affair (Levi Johnston‘s attendance notwithstanding). I’m all for celebrating Men of any Year no matter the occasion … especially hotties like these :)

Last night the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards were handed out in a lavish ceremony at the Nokia Theater at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles, CA which was broadcast on CBS. As I mentioned earlier, Neil Patrick Harris KILLED as Emmy host last night but the awards show was more than just about him (as hard to believe as that may be). While there were a lot of pretty people on the red carpet (Alyson Hannigan looked amazing, as did Drew Barrymore) the real focus of the night was on who won what for which TV show. Newlyweds and Dexter co-stars Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have made their way to Madrid to do some promo work for the new season of their show to air in Spain and appeared in person at a press gathering yesterday afternoon. I can only assume that either A.) it’s really hot in Spain right now or B.) Jennifer failed to pack her antiperspirant for her trip to Madrid because, as is plainly evident in these photos, the poor dear embarrassingly sweat thru her shirt and showed off a pair of massively moist pit stains:

Truth be told, if I were standing that close to hottie Michael C. Hall, I might sweat thru my clothes too … but she’s married to him so that cannot be the reason. Fans of Dexter might know that this is TOTALLY something that Jennifer Carpenter‘s Dexter character, Deb Morgan, might do if she were forced to appear in front of a galley of press folks (then she’d cuss up a swear-storm afterward) … perhaps Ms. Carpenter was just really in character at yesterday’s appearance? In any event, I love Dexter, I love Michael C. Hall and I love Jennifer Carpenter … pit stains and all.
