Britney Spears returned home from Japan earlier today after a quick trip to the far East to do some promo work for her new album Circus. As you may recall, she appeared on a Japanese TV show called Hey!Hey!Hey! and was snapped doing a bit of sight-seeing/shopping around town. Britney Spears, fresh from her trip to NYC where she was on hand to participate in the Xmas tree lighting ceremony in Rockefeller Center which took place on Wednesday night, was on hand here in downtown LA to do the special honor of lighting the Xmas tree at the LA Live! entertainment complex last night. Topping off a celebratory week that included her 27th birthday and the debut of her new CD Circus, Britney Spears was the surprise guest who lit the tree at Thursday’s launch of L.A. Live! for the premiere performance of Light of the Angels at the Nokia Theater. Sharing the Christmas spirit with her were sons Jayden and Preston and father Jamie – as well as host Adam Carolla and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Asked about her favorite holiday traditions, the pop star said being with family and tree decorating.

You gotta love that the Xmas tree for Los Angeles is a fake one made up completely of pretty lights. While NYC sticks to the old skool tradition of using actual trees, La La Land has to go the fake route … eh, that’s Tinsel Town for ya. Britney looked pretty amazing at last night’s “tree” lighting. She is one hot commodity right now and everyone is dying to get a piece of her (if you will). Ellen DeGeneres announced on her show that she will be “spending time with” Britney Spears “over the weekend” implying that the hanging out time will be taped for airing on her show sometime after. I understand that Britney will be jetting off to Japan very soon to do some promo work for the release of her new album Circus there. She’s bizzy, y’all … but appears to be handling it all very well. Folks have been very receptive and complimentary to her new music video for her titletrack single Circus which is a nice change of pace from some of the negative comments people like to level at her. I understand that Britney was on site last night for quite a few hours putting the finishing touches on her big Good Morning America performance that took place earlier today. After seeing all of the elements that went into this performance, it makes sense that she would want to spend as much time rehearsing as possible.

Later on last night, Britney‘s estranged parents — Jamie & Lynne Spears — stepped out together to grab a bite to eat together … alone:

While I’m pretty certain that no hanky-panky exists between this happily divorced couple, I’m glad to see that they are able to remain friendly with one another even after all that has happened between them. I’m sure they are both very happy, very relieved that their daughter is out of harm’s way and is making a true return to form. Who knows, mebbe there will — one day — be a reconciliation between these two … I’m not holding my breath but seeing them enjoy alone time together is a very nice sight indeed.

Britney Spears, who just completed a successful yet short European promo tour delivering performances in Germany, France and the UK, has made her way to New York City, NY to round out her promo work here in the Big Apple. Grandpapa Jamie Spears had Britney‘s sons Sean Preston and Jayden James flown in from SoCal to be with their mother here in NYC. Here are pics of Britney‘s arrival at JFK airport early yesterday morning and of her sons arrival in Newark, NJ later in the day:

After watching Britney Spears: For The Record last night, I think we all know what being in NYC means to Britney … and now that she is able to enjoy the city with her children, she must be in great spirits today. Tomorrow morning, Britney will perform live on Good Morning America in the big tent set up in Lincoln Center at the Big Apple Circus. I understand that Britney is scheduled to perform at least two songs on GMA tomorrow but, beyond that, there is no further info. I suspect we’ll be seeing the same Womanizer routine she’s been performing in Europe over the past few days but I’m hopeful we’ll see an entirely new routine (mebbe for her single Circus) as well. These are exciting days for our dear Britney … not only does she release her new album Circus tomorrow …

… but she will also be turning 27 years old as well. I hope that all her birthday wishes come true this year. Thus far, she appears on the right track to make all her dreams come true again.

After Britney Spears wowed the crowd on the UK’s competitive reality TV program X-Factor last night, she and her cavalcade of dancers made their way to the London nightclub G-A-Y to surprise the attendees with her presence and to get her birthday celebrations off to an early start. Here are a few pics of Britney being presented with a birthday cake at the nightclub last night:

But while Britney and her crew were having a great time celebrating her birthday in the VIP area, the massive number of folks who came out to the club to celebrate with her did not have such a great time. According to messages left on the club’s messageboard, too many people were let into the venue making for a very unsafe environment for many. Here are two messages posted on the G-A-Y messageboard that explain how things went down last night from two individual perspectives (grammatical and spelling errors are the authors’ alone):

That was the worst experience of my life. I can’t believe let that happen. The management should be fired. None of them did anything. They just stood around with a look of panic on their faces. It was so dangerous and they could have been shut down for that. What a joke. All those people passing out. The funny thing was that when I finally got out of the crush there was absolutely no one stopping more people squashing in. Shocking. What the hell was the manager and security doing? When you see a crush like that you stop anymore people going in and making it worse. Shame on you . You’re not at the Astoria anymore where there was loads of space. You need to learn how to cope with a smaller venue. I feel sorry for Britney as everyone will blame her but it’s not her fault. She looked ed off and upset then held up a sign saying “Sorry I’m leaving”.

i’m at home and there is no way i will sleep tonight it was not Britney s fault ..tonight reminded me of that football thing in the 80s when many people was crushed( and killed) it could have been like that as it was getting to the stage when i said to my bf “someone is going to get killed”. I STILL CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS HAPPNED LIKE THIS i’m writting to the council as i dont think wat went on tonight can just be left at that. no doubt the papers will also write a story or many on tonight. a joke of the biggest kind. HAS ALOT TO ANSWER FOR just thank god no one was killed tonight.

While some of the messages posted to the board may be a *tad* overdramatic (tho, considering what happened at Wal-Mart here in the US, mebbe they weren’t being overdramatic at all), I think it’s clear that the management did a poor job of policing the space capacity. There are many messages of anger towards Britney herself for “not showing up” to the venue as advertised (even tho it was never advertised that she would be there for sure). Unfortch for those people, they were too bizzy being crushed in other areas of the club that they weren’t even aware that she was there in the first place. The scene sounds ridiculous … I’m not surprised that Britney‘s people chose to keep her from going on stage. With that many people crushed into a small place, there’s no telling what would’ve happened once the crowd caught sight of her. All in all, it doesn’t sound like it was a great night for the common folk who came out to G-A-Y last night. At least Britney managed to have a bit of a party with her people in the VIP area, away from the madness below. Britney Spears caused a mild fracas yesterday afternoon when she arrived at LAX airport here in SoCal to catch a plane bound for Europe. Our dear Britney, whose new album Circus is streaming in full right HERE on Pink is the new Blog and who is featured on the cover of the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine, has made her way to Germany to do some promo work for her new album there before she makes her way to France to perform on Star Academy and then to London to perform on X-Factor. Homegirl has got a lot of work to take care of this week leading up to the release of her new album next Tuesday. Although a long holiday weekend is right around the corner, Britney Spears is getting to work promoting her upcoming album, Circus, in Europe. The singer boarded a flight from Los Angeles to Frankfurt, Germany on Monday for several appearances in support of the album, which is scheduled to be released Dec. 2. Spears is traveling with several close associates and family members, including her father, Jamie, and manager Larry Rudolph. According to an eyewitness, the singer – dressed in a brown fedora, black sweatpants and a pink top – jumped out of her white Cadillac Escalade smiling and holding her dad’s hand at the airport. After a short time in Germany, Spears is expected to appear on the French program, Star Academy, and on Simon Cowell’s X Factor in England before returning to the U.S. next week. She is scheduled to go on a worldwide tour in the spring of next year.

Here we go. As I keep saying, I really hope that she is ready for the coming onslaught. There is a lot coming her way. I sincerely hope it all goes smoothly … successfully and, most of all … healthily for her.

Earlier this week Britney Spears surprised a select group of fans by attending an MTV-sponsored screening event for her new documentary Britney Spears: For The Record (which debuts on MTV on November 30) … but was noticeably uncomfortable at the event and ended up leaving early, opting out of taking questions from the audience. On Friday afternoon, Britney and her father Jamie Spears made a surprise visit to the LA County Courthouse reportedly to meet with the judge overseeing her conservatorship case presumably to talk with him about her upcoming plans to promote her new album Circus (ie. her plans for a world tour next year). It would appear that things did not go Britney‘s way because the poor dear was seen leaving the courthouse in tears, being comforted by her father as they drove away:

Britney Spears made another cameo in the midst of her comeback – this time at a Los Angeles courtroom. Spears appeared unexpectedly for a hearing in her ongoing power of attorney case. A court spokesman said after the hearing that Spears appeared to give an update on her upcoming album, Circus, and details of her tour and other promotions. Her father, Jamie Spears, has had control over his 26-year-old daughter’s personal and financial affairs since February. The court made the arrangement permanent last month, but Spears can petition to end the arrangement. The court spokesman says she did not make that request. As part of that deal, her father and attorney gained greater control over her professional career. Jamie Spears appeared in court with his daughter and emerged from a courtroom with her after a two-hour closed session. Spears has not appeared in court during months of proceedings, but has been represented by a court-appointed lawyer.

It is absolutely impossible to know what went on in that 2-hour closed session but it would seem that things didn’t turn out the way she had hoped … she really did look upset as she left the court. I understand, tho, that Friday’s meeting with the judge was their first ever … up until that day, Britney and the judge had not met face-to-face. Perhaps the reason for the hearing was so that they could speak one-on-one? In any event, this is the second time this week that Britney looked to be having a rough time with things going on in her life, related to her musical comeback. While I still worry that she might not yet be totally ready for the coming onslaught of media attention that comes with the release of a new album (and world tour!!!), I just hope that she will be able to weather the storm successfully and without incident.

Woot! Britney Spears, along with her father and conservator Jamie Spears, packed up her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James and made their way back home to Kentwood, Louisiana to spend a little time with her mother and family there. As y’all may recall, Britney “surprised” the crowd at Dodger Stadium on Thursday night when she showed up on stage to do a little performance/cameo with Madonna … but it was early Friday when she and the crew boarded a plane bound for Kentwood. This trip marks the first time she’s been able to take the children out of the State of California since losing physical custody to ex-hubby Kevin Federline … it is also the first trip to the Spears family manse named Serenity in Kentwood, LA for Jayden James ever:

It’s time for a very special Spears family get-together as OK! has learned exclusively that pop star Britney Spears, along with her father — and her two young sons! — left L.A. on Friday morning to make an early holiday pilgramage to her Louisiana home. Around 10:30am PT on Friday, the pop star and her young boys, Sean Preston, 3, and 2-year-old Jayden James, boarded a private plane at an airport in Van Nuys, Calif., where they flew with the pop star’s papa, Jamie Spears, to Kentwood, La. This trip marks not only the first time that young Jayden will get to see Serenity, the family home in Kentwood, but also the first time since ex-husband Kevin Federline was awarded physical custody of the boys that Britney has been able to take them out of the state. Insiders tell OK! that the reason for the trip is twofold. First, so that Britney can have some quiet family time away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood before the release of her new album, Circus, on her 27th birthday (Dec. 2). And the second reason for the family getaway is so Sean and Jayden get the chance to spend more time their cousin Maddie, the baby daughter of Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge.

Awww … this is so great. You can see that Britney‘s mother Lynne Spears and her older brother Bryan Spears came out to the airport to meet her, her father and her boys. The only ones missing from this cute family reunion were Jamie Lynn Spears and her unmarried babydaddy Casey Aldridge. I wonder how long Brit plans to stay in Louisiana … for just the weekend, thru Thanksgiving? However long she stays, I hope she has an amazing time at home with her entire family. She’s been working real hard this year and has made such remarkable strides in her recovery … I think she really deserves to enjoy as much downtime as she can muster. Good for her!!
