Hugh Hefner won’t actually turn 83 until this coming Thursday April 9 but the Playboy mogul got the party started early at the Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV yesterday. At about 2:30pm, Hef and his Playmate girlfriends (both former and current) enjoyed a pool party at the Palms before taking the shindig inside for a special birthday dinner at N9ne Steakhouse. I understand the fête was filmed for airing in the upcoming new season of E!’s Girls Next Door which will focus on Hefner’s girlfriend changing of the guard (out with the old, in with the new). Hugh Hefner kicked off a day-long birthday party today at the Palms. The Playboy magnate will turn 83 years old on Thursday. The festivities got underway today at 2:30 p.m. as the resilient playboy made his way to the Palms Place pool. Flanked by girlfriends Crystal Harris, 22, and 19-year-old twin sisters Karissa and Kristina Shannon, Hefner was cheerful, dressed in a colorful playboy shirt, white pants, a black sport coat and his signature captain’s hat. Press and camera crews for “The Girls Next Door” greeted the birthday boy’s entourage as the group settled into seats on the patio near the pool. Moments later, the original “Girls Next Door,” Bridget Marquardt, Kendra Wilkinson, and Hef’s former No. 1 squeeze, Holly Madison, came by to say hello. “I’ve good company. Young people keep me young,” Hefner said. “I get older but they stay the same.” Marquardt, Wilkinson, and Madison lived with the Playboy icon in his iconic estate, the Playboy Mansion, for over five years before going their separate ways last year. Now 35, 23, and 29, respectively, the trio has since been replaced by a younger trifecta of blondes. Marquardt and Wilkinson admitted it was all pretty surreal. “That used to be us!” Wilkinson remarked, motioning toward Hefner’s three new lady friends. “You see it from the outside and it’s like, oh my God,” she laughed. Marquardt agreed. “It’s such a unique situation,” she said. Yet there was no animosity in the afternoon air as girlfriends past and present joined Hefner to pose for photographers. Madison, who finished a month-long stint on “Dancing With the Stars” this week, said photographers are an essential part of any Playboy birthday celebration. She had her fair share of party planning experience during her tenure as Hef’s No. 1. She said that three things are required for any Hef-related celebration: “Press, Jack and Coke and beautiful women.” There was no shortage of any of those today at the Palms. Hefner sipped glasses of Jack Daniels and Coke throughout the afternoon, as he fielded questions from a seemingly endless stream of media. Meanwhile, a smattering of stunning ladies lingered and mingled nearby. Former Playboy models Jennifer Pershing, Deanna Brooks, Tiffany Fallon, Hiromi Oshima, Kelly Carrington, Janine Habeck, Alison Waite, Ida Ljundqvist, Stacy Fuson and Patrice Hollis were among those seen enjoying the afternoon sun. Wilkinson and Marquardt’s significant others, Hank Baskett and Nicholas Carpenter, also attended the party. “We’re all great friends,” Wilkinson said. Her fiancé agreed and said it’s not awkward at all. “It’s been very nice getting to know Hef. He’s just down to earth, family-oriented kind of guy,” the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver said. Baskett said he and Hefner have been friends since the minute they realized they shared not just a woman, but a favorite comic, too. “It was one of those male bonding moments,” Baskett said. “We ‘re both big Flash Gordon fans … It was like a match made in heaven.” Wilkinson said she views the collection of former and current boyfriends and girlfriends as “friends and family.” In fact, Wilkinson and Baskett will tie the knot at the Playboy Mansion on June 27 and Hefner had agreed to walk Wilkinson down the aisle. She said Saturday’s festivities were “kind of like a birthday party-slash-anniversary” for her and Hefner. The two met at Hefner’s 78th birthday party five years ago, and Wilkinson said she knew exactly how to mark the occasion: with a card. “That’s all he likes,” she said. “He likes cards with nice things written in them, and he likes pictures in frames, and he likes candy.” She said her card carried a simple but heartfelt message. “I wrote for both of us,” Wilkinson said as she and Baskett linked arms. “I said, ‘Thanks for being such a good friend to Hank and I, we love you so much and, PS, I miss you’.” This afternoon’s pool party was just the beginning of Hefner’s birthday extravaganza. After catching some midday sun, he and his guests retreated indoors to prepare for the night ahead. Before they left, however, the birthday boy shared his plans. “Once we finish the pool party we’ll be having dinner at N9NE, the restaurant,” he said. After that, the iconic playboy said they will move the party upstairs, where the group will “spend some time at the Playboy Club and Moon.” And how does Hugh Hefner end his night of birthday celebrations in Las Vegas? Hefner said he plans to do it with “a little private gathering in my suite.”

What a life … hanging around all of those young ladies must be good for Hef’s health cuz that’s really all he seems to do and he’s still kickin’ it at the ripe ol’ age of 83. Tho, he’s not quite 83 yet so I guess he’s still partying with the stamina of an 82 year old. Amazing. It’s great to see Hef still livin’ so large. The fact that he can stay friends with his ex-girlfriend while ushering in a new contingent of young’ns to take their place says a lot about the man … make of that what you will ;) Happy Early Birthday, Hef! Let’s hope the man doesn’t party too too much so that he actually makes it to his big day this coming Thursday.

Earlier this week we got our first look at former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day on the cover and in the pages of the March issue of Playboy magazine … last night, Aubrey hooked up with Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner, some of his girlfriends and Paris Hilton (natch) at Apple Lounge for an issue release party for Aubrey’s issue of Playboy … here are a few pics:

Aubrey may not have a career with Danity Kane any longer and I’m pretty certain that P. Diddy won’t be working with her in any capacity in the future … so it’s pretty smart of the lass to cozy up to Hugh Hefner right about now. At the very least, she can have a career at Playboy … well, for the rest of the month, that is. I suspect that Aubrey will take another stab at a music career and may have some success (I gotta admit, I really liked her in DK) but for the meanwhile, she can rely on her nekkidness to pay the bills. And really, according to Aubrey herself, isn’t that was empowerment is all about?

Playboy mogul and all-around pimp daddy Hugh Hefner sent out his Xmas card to friends and colleagues this week and proudly showed off his latest accomplishments. As you may recall, Hef hooked up with twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon after breaking off his romantic ties with former girlfriends Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson (I’m not sure the status of his relationship with Bridget Marquardt … I think they’re dunzo as well but I’m not entirely sure) earlier this year and has decided to feature the twins in this year’s holiday card … behold:

It makes sense that Hugh Hefner got into the Christmas spirit this year, with two young ones living at home with him! The Playboy mogul, 82, has sent out his annual holiday card, featuring him with topless, 19-year-old twin girlfriends Karissa and Kristina Shannon. Hefner is dressed in his signature silk robe and pajamas while the twins are scantily clad in shorts with the word “hef” scrawled across their body-painted chests.

Well, at least it’s a fitting card for everyone involved. While I suppose it’s impressive that Hef can still get young girls like this to, er, get bizzy with him I think it’s still a little sad to see the smiling 82 year old standing betwixt these buxom young girls as if they’d really be interested in him if he wasn’t Hugh Hefner. Meh … do your thing, Hef … sad or not, at least you’re livin’ large. Naughty or nice, I think Hef’s gonna have a great XXXmas either way ;)

Hugh Hefner opened up his Playboy Mansion playhouse to the media this week to show off a preview of the haunted Halloween decorations and attractions that will be on display at the Manse for his annual Halloween Celebration Extravaganza. On hand with the Hefster were his newly appointed girlfriends, twin sisters Kristina and Karissa Shannon, and his soon-to-be ex-girlfriends Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson. The playboy and his bunnies managed to get into costume for the media preview event … behold:

I gotta say … I’m not really a fan of the Shannon sisters but they and Hef really outdid themselves with their Halloween costumes. Never before have I seen such an appropriate and life-like guise like the one we see here. Their costumes really bring out a hidden truth that I think we’ve all seen from the first day we were introduced to them … brills! The Girls Next Door, on the otherhand, look really cute in their costumes. For me, there is an air of sadness tho … that they are still hanging around the mansion, playing nice with Hefner and his new romantic interests so soon after being replaced. It shows that they are good sports, I guess, but also hints that they’ve really got nothing else going on. I hope they are able to break away from the whole Playboy thing and move on to live successful lives. But Halloween stops for no bunny so it looks like it’s full steam ahead!

80+ year old Playboy magazine mogul Hugh Hefner, flanked by his new twin girlfriends Karissa and Kristina Shannon, made an in-store appearance with author Steven Watts at Book Soup here in LA last night to promote and sign copies of the new book Mr. Playboy: Hugh Hefner and the American Dream. Looks like homie ain’t wasting no time introducing the world to his new “lady loves” since it was revealed earlier this month that Hef had broken up with former girlfriend Holly Madison (and, most likely, Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt). Here are a few pics from last night’s in-store appearance and a bit of information about the book:

“Mr. Playboy: Hugh Hefner and the American Dream” (Wiley, 544 pages, $29.95), by Steven Watts: In 1953, Hugh Hefner was a young man in Chicago with an unimpressive resume and big plans. He would start a men’s magazine geared toward young urbanites such as himself with lifestyle tips and racy pictures. He would call it “Stag Party.” A legal snag forced a last-minute name change to “Playboy,” but Hefner stayed true to the idea. The magazine quickly became a huge success and gave new meanings to the words playmate, bunny and centerfold. Hefner — with his pipe, his pajamas and a girl on each arm — became a symbol of the sexual revolution. But a symbol of what? Hefner is either the swingingest hep cat, a pornographer, a sexual liberator or a lecher, depending on the observer. Watts aims to give a full account of the man, his magazine and their place in social history. Hefner cooperated, giving the author access to everything from his personal scrapbooks to a 1972 memo from a Playboy administrative assistant on the Rolling Stones’ four-day romp at the old Chicago Playboy mansion (they left behind burned towels and clogged pipes; it’s unclear why). Watts presents Hefner’s life as a sort of X-rated Horatio Alger story. A boy growing up in the Midwest falls in love with the fantasy world of movies. As a young striver, he creates his own fantasy world with Playboy. Then he moves into the world he created, leaving a wife and kids for the swinging life. Watts argues that Playboy is more than a girlie magazine: It “comprised a historical force of significant proportions.” It’s arguable whether Hefner mostly made waves or rode them. But it’s clear that Hefner took seriously his role in offering a philosophy to counteract Puritanism. When Hefner calls himself a missionary, he’s not punning. Along with the naked women, Playboy early on featured the likes of Dave Brubeck on jazz, Evelyn Waugh on abstract expressionism and an interview with philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre … Oh, and Hefner really, really likes sex. Women come and go from his round bed like the sheets were made of Flubber. It just never stops. Even into his old age, the Viagra-fueled magnate stays on the prowl. Watts reveals that Hefner narrowly avoided an ironical death when he almost choked on a partner’s sex toy. A quick-thinking Playmate saved him with a chest compression.

… Annnnd, I think that’s enough info, thank you very much. The Playboy empire is a fascinating one and the man behind the Bunnies is just as fascinating. But when you see him now, as an 80+ year old man, clinging to 20-year old buxom beauties who wouldn’t touch him with a 10-foot pole if he didn’t have fame and wealth, well it’s just not as impressive as it may have been at one time. Don’t get me wrong, the man deserves props for living his life to the fullest and enjoying the zest of life for as long as he can. But sometimes, like with the introduction of these new twin sister girlfriends, I think Hef looks more foolish than pimpish. For his sake, I hope that the Shannon twins are schooled in CPR … you know, in case another one of those “choking on a sex toy” or worse incidents happen again.

Marc Malkin of E! News is reporting that Playboy magazine mogul Hugh Hefner is confirming his split from longtime girlfriend Holly Madison. You may recall that Holly Madison broke the news to TMZ earlier this week that she and Hef are “not together”. Malkin spoke directly to Hefner and learned straight for the old grey mare horse’s mouth that the couple are “over”. In his chat with Malkin, Hef also discloses the state of his relationships with his other two girlfriends Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt (essentially, they’re still doing it but not for long, apparently). It’s really over. Hugh Hefner confirms he and Holly Madison are no longer. “If she says it’s over, it’s over,” Hefner tells me. “But like I’ve said before, she is the love of my life, and I expected to spend the rest of my life with her.” The Playboy mogul says the relationship started to crumble about six months ago when they learned he was unable to father a child with Holly. “With my sperm count, it’s not possible,” Hefner explained. “I was willing but it was not possible … She’d like to be married and have children, but it’s not in the cards here for me.” Where does that leave the other two Girls Next Door, Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt? Hefner says they’re still romantically involved, but admitted, “the relationship with Kendra will be ending when she moves out, probably by the end of this year.” Hef ain’t wasting anytime getting back in the saddle though. In the last week, he’s been spotted with 19-year-old twins Kristina and Karissa Shannon. “They very much want to be girlfriends and now under the present circumstance, they probably will become my girlfriends,” Hefner says.

Well then, I guess we’ve heard from both of the interested parties so it must really really be over. I gotta say … I’m a bit icked out about Hugh Hefner talking about his dwindling sperm count. You always hear about how men can father children well into old age … but I guess there really does come a time when a man, er, runs out of juice (EW, sorry!). But, onward and upwards, I suppose. Yesterday we got our first look at the set of twins, Karissa and Kristina, that Hef is lookin’ to “probably” make his replacement girlfriends. Malkin adds that Hefner has also been “testing” a girl named Amy Leigh Andrews at the Playboy Mansion this week for the position of one of his girlfriends. As to what “testing” involves, well, I’m sure I REALLY DON’T WANT TO KNOW the specifics of that.

Yesterday we learned that Holly Madison is no longer “together” with Playboy founder/mogul Hugh Hefner after she let slip on camera that she no longer has any “pull” with Hef since the break-up … then Holly reiterated the news on her official My Space profile. Now the blog What Would Tyler Durden Do? is reporting that Hef has replaced all of his current girlfriends (including Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson) with a new set of young(er) blonde twins and possibly a Playboy Playmate. It really sounds like Hef is doing everything he can to ensure he dies of a heart attack. Well, at least the ex-girlfriends all have each other’s fake breasts to lean on. And now, about those new girls (the following text is quoted from WWTDD?):

All right, so, earlier this morning, everyone confirmed what was on here yesterday, namely that Holly from “Girls Next Door” has broken up with Hugh Hefner. Meaning Hef is no longer dating any of the original Girls Next Door. That is not to say that Hef isn’t stabbin any teen kitty. In fact he’s tappin the two twins in the picture above, and they’re probable candidates for the next season of Girls Next Door. Their names are Kristina and Karissa Shannon (myspaces here and here and here). They are 19, from Tampa, Florida, haven’t been in Playboy yet, but have shot their Playmate pictorial, which will be in the magazine later this year, probably the Christmas issue. There’s another girl named Crystal McCahill (last 6 pictures, myspace here) who may or may not be in line for the show. I’ve had one say she is, two say she is not. I’m more inclined to believe the ones who say’s she is not. She has huge tits, but she’s not blond, and that may hold her back. Love can be funny sometimes.

It seems clear that Hugh Hefner has no problem finding young girlfriends whenever he wants to but while some see his behavior as “pimpin’” or “studly”, I think it’s really sad. An 80-year old man who is desperately trying to hold on to his youth by bedding young women isn’t that impressive to me. Had he decided to settle down with Holly (who wants to get married and have children), for example, I think I would’ve been much more impressed. But, he’s Hugh Hefner and I guess he’s got an image to uphold. I just hope it doesn’t kill him.
