Nicole Richie showed off her new darker locks at an in-store appearance at Bloomingdale’s here in SoCal over the weekend at a promo event for her jewelry line House of Harlow 1960. Nicole confessed that she dyed her hair brunette about a week ago and did so because she was “tired of being a blonde”. I guess blondes don’t have more fun after all:

Do brunettes have more fun? On Saturday, Nicole Richie debuted a darker do at the launch of the House of Harlow 1960 Holiday Collection at Bloomingdale’s in Costa Mesa, Calif. “I did it about a week-and-a-half ago,” the mother-of-two, 28, told Usmagazine.com when asked about her new look. “I change my hair color all the time, and I hadn’t done it in a few years. With the babies, I just really hadn’t had time. I’m so used to having that change all the time, and I hadn’t done it in about two years, so I was just ready and sick of being blonde! I was ready for a change!” Richie said she is gearing up for the holidays with beau Joel Madden and their two kids, Harlow (who turns 2 next month) and 3-month-old Sparrow. Any family traditions? “I don’t have a lot of traditions,” she said. “I have gotten a new Christmas ornament every year so I will probably do that. I’m a big eggnog drinker. Not the kind with alcohol in it, but the regular kind. I thought that everyone drinks eggnog, but as I’m getting older, I’m learning that people actually think it’s really gross, but I love it, so I will definitely have some eggnog!” Her kids “are great,” she said, adding that Harlow “loves being a big sister.”

I love it!! Nicole looks amazing. In the photos she posted on her official blog last week, it looked to me like she cut her hair but I’m happy to see that she kept it long. As much as I love Nicole‘s bob hair’do, I love her much more with longer locks. I think the brunette really suits her … it makes her look more mature. What do y’all think … is this darker hair color a good look for her?

Nicole Richie and Pete Wentz teamed up with Switch Boutique in SoCal last night to throw a fashion show in order to showcase each celebs’ new line of products. House of Harlow 1960 jewelry and Clandestine Industries streetwear were paired up in an effort to show the public what they can expect from the two design houses. Here are pics of Pete Wentz, Nicole Richie and her burgeoning baby bump at the fashion show last night:

What happens when two of Hollywood’s hippest designers team up for a runway show? Last night’s House of Harlow, Clandestine Industries and Switch boutique runway show! Nicole Richie, who was modeling her own designs, added her House of Harlow 1960 pieces to feminine fashions from Switch boutique, telling PEOPLE that she picked based on “complimenting the outfit,” while Pete Wentz went for an individualized approach to his models. “[It's] just about streetwear so I let the guy pick. Whatever looked best on the individual.” Budding girl group Paradiso Girls opened the show with a quick performance and special guest spot by rapper Eve. With Wentz’s wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Richie’s partner Joel Madden watching on, the male models donned high top sneakers, T-shirts saying things like I (heart) BX, hoodies, and fedoras from Clandestine Industries. The ladies walked the runway in black mini skirts, back stretch pants with holes cut into them, heels with neon green soles and hot pink peep toe, jumpsuits with white lace lining and gold belts as accents to Nicole’s bold jewelry. Wentz thanked the audiences with “Thank you for checking out our lines,” just before rockers The Academy Is… closed the evening with a short performance.

It only makes sense that two celebs with semi-equal celebrity lines of clothing/jewelry would team up to showcase their wares in this way. To be honest, I’m surprised neither of them thought about teaming up before now. As some of you already know, the Madden brothers own DCMA Clothing and, I suspect, plans are in the works to mebbe put together a way to showcase both House of Harlow 1960 and DCMA at a future fashion show. As a sidebar, I’m loving how big Nicole’s baby bump is already … it looks like it won’t be long now before Nicole and Joel Madden are welcoming the birth of their second child. We still do not know if it is a boy or a girl … but how adorable would a little boy addition to the family be?

Nicole Richie is featured in a new set of promo pictures where she is rockin’ pieces from her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line …

… and which can be purchased at online retailers like Shop Bop and Pascal Mouawad. I must admit, I really like all of these photos … I don’t think anyone else does hippie chic quite as well as Nicole Richie does (sorry, Mischa Barton). But as much as I love these new pics of Nicole, I think I still love any photos of her daughter Harlow Winter more. Nicole Richie, lookin’ ethereal in her flowy white goddess-like gown and matching golden headband, made a rare in-store appearance at the new Kitson store on Melrose Ave. here in LA yesterday afternoon to meet-and-greet with fans who came out for the official launch of her House of Harlow jewelry line. Here are a few photos from yesterday’s event:

So, OK … mebbe Nicole did look a bit like she fell from of Mt. Olympus in the cheesy 1981 film Clash of the Titans but she really is the kind of lady that can pull off a look like this. The headband is a bold fashion statement and it takes a very confident woman to make it work. I think Nicole makes it work. In any event, I understand that yesterday’s in-store went off swimmingly and that fans who came out to see her were not disappointed. I might have to see about getting myself a headband like this one … I dunno, I think mebbe I can pull it off, too.
