Betty White has been busted, y’all! Well … rather … Betty‘s Hot In Cleveland character Elka Ostrovsky got busted in the season finale of the hit TV Land show which aired last night. As a result of Betty‘s character’s bust, TV Land is marketing a series of Free Elka merchadise that fans can buy in order to tide themselves over until the next season of Hot In Cleveland debuts on TV Land in January 2011. TV Land announced today that it has created a line of “Free Elka” t-shirts, mugs and other collectibles to celebrate the hit series and its cliffhanger season finale which aired at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Wednesday, August 18. In the season one finale, Betty White’s character, Elka Ostrovsky gets booked into custody after the police find a hidden stash of valuables in her storm cellar. In the episode, viewers find out that Elka’s deceased husband was a fence for the Cleveland mob and she has been sitting on these priceless items for years. The “Free Elka” line features the mug shot of White’s character, Elka Ostrovsky, on the front of the shirt and the “Hot in Cleveland” logo on the back. The shirts, available in both women and men’s styles, plus other collectibles will be available via tvland.com starting Wednesday night, August 18 at 10:20pm ET/7:20 pm PT. “We really loved our ‘Hot in Cleveland’ cliffhanger and wanted our fans to be able to have their own keepsake of this hilarious episode,” stated Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “The fans have been such an integral part of the success of the show so we wanted to give them a way to show their support of ‘Hot’ in a whole new and tangible way.” TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland” was the highest rated original scripted sitcom premiere in the history of cable when it premiered on June 16, 2010. The show continues to deliver high ratings for the channel. To date, the series delivers a whopping 1.83 in Adults 25-54, a 2.34 in Women 25-54 and the first nine episodes has reached 4.0 million viewers, according to The Nielsen Company’s 3-day playback plus Live viewing. “Hot in Cleveland” is set to start production on its second season in the fall with 20 new episodes airing in January 2011.

Yay!! I have loved every single episode of the first season of Hot In Cleveland and I am very much looking forward to the show’s return in January. Last night’s season finale ep was very cute and I love the cliffhanger “To Be Continued” ending. TV Land has done a great job with this show and offering Free Elka merch is so fun. Now, just in case you have yet to watch last night’s season finale ep, I’ll not mention why Elka got busted … but it’s kinda funny to see how the little spitfire got nabbed so you’ll have to watch the ep! It seems like it was only yesterday that we got our first look at a preview promo video of Betty White in her new TV Land sitcom Hot In Cleveland and here we are just one day away from the series debut. Hot In Cleveland will premiere on TV Land tomorrow night … but last night, Betty and her Cleveland co-stars gathered together at the Crosby Street Hotel for the NYC premiere of the show:

Betty was joined by co-stars Jane Leeves, Valerie Bertinelli and Wendie Malick along with some other luminaries like Kristin Chenoweth, Sean Hayes and Christian Siriano. Okay, I’ve got one more bit of Betty White awesomeness to share with all y’all today. In March we learned that Betty is returning to TV in a new series for TV Land called Hot in Cleveland and later that month we got our first look at what the show will be like. Today we get to see a new promo video for Hot In Cleveland, which will go into filming production on May 10 here in SoCal … after Betty finishes her gig hosting Saturday Night Live tonight. TV Land has just announced that our golden Betty will star in her own TV series for the network titled Hot In Cleveland! Here is the just released first promo pic and press release announcement:

Wee!! This is such fantastic news!! How amazing will it be to have Betty White back on TV again?! I gotta say … this Hot In Cleveland show, which is revolves around “LA women of a certain again and best friends”, sounds a bit like Golden Girls: The Next Generation. If this new show is even remotely as entertaining as GG was then I am SOLD! This is very exciting news … I can’t wait to see this show!! What do y’all think … are you dying or what?
