It’s over between illusionist Criss Angel and Girl Next Door Holly Madison. “Criss and Holly are no longer a couple,” their rep, Steve Flynn, tells PEOPLE. “They remain very close friends and wish each other the very best.” Angel, 41, and Madison, 30, began dating last October when Angel’s Las Vegas show, “Believe,” was beginning. At the time, they were seen walking hand-in-hand and even making out on the red carpet.

Meh. I guess you kinda knew that it was never meant to last between these two … he was far too young for her. In all honesty, I thought they made a pretty decent couple. They looked good together, well-suited to one another. Perhaps Holly was gettin’ tired of having to jet off to Las Vegas every other day. She strikes me as a California girl, mebbe she needs to find a California guy … who is 50 years her elder and has got money to burn. I’m sure Criss will be able to conjure up a new hawt blonde to replace Ms. Madison in no time. Ah well … better luck next time.

Will there be a double wedding at the Playboy Mansion this summer? Just three days after Girls Next Door star Kendra Wilkinson announced that she and Hank Baskett will get hitched at Hugh Hefner’s famed estate on June 27, fellow costar Holly Madison was spotted looking at rings in Las Vegas with her Mindfreak boyfriend, Criss Angel. An eyewitness tells me Madison and Angel hit Berger & Son Fine Jewelers in the Fashion Show mall at about 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve. “They were looking at one ring and Criss said, ‘Would you marry me?’ ” our spy reports. “Holly didn’t say anything. She just looked at him.” But then the couple saw that a crowd was beginning to form in front of the store, so they quickly took off. “Criss handed the ring back to the sales guy and said, ‘Thanks,’ ” the spy said. Reps for Madison and Angel say we shouldn’t go looking for their wedding registry just yet. “Criss bought Holly a ring for her birthday,” Madison’s rep said. “It’s a flower ring” … Meanwhile, I’m told Madison and Angel’s families met for the first time last week when they celebrated Christmas together in Vegas.

Interesting … I’m most entertained by the overheard bit where Criss asked Holly if she would marry him and she just stared at him in silence. LOL, I really would’ve loved to have seen that. Criss and Holly have been quite a hot item for the past few months … I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually did end up gettin’ hitched at some point in the future … but it looks like they won’t be heading down the aisle any time soon. Ah well, better luck next proposal, Criss.

I understand that Holly and Criss claim that they are “just friends” but we’ve all heard that line before. Other former Hefner ex-girlfriend Bridget Marquardt revealed to US Weekly that Holly and Kendra Wilkinson (the third ex-Hefner girlfriend) have already moved out of the Playboy Mansion … which is perfect timing should Holly want to move in with her friend Criss Angel. I’m not sure if this new hook-up will actually turn into anything of substance but I can’t really decide if Holly has traded up or traded down. On the upside, Criss Angel is about 50 years younger than Hugh Hefner. On the downside, he’ll prolly never be as pimp as Hef used to be … so … thoughts?

I gotta say … I’m not really a fan of the Shannon sisters but they and Hef really outdid themselves with their Halloween costumes. Never before have I seen such an appropriate and life-like guise like the one we see here. Their costumes really bring out a hidden truth that I think we’ve all seen from the first day we were introduced to them … brills! The Girls Next Door, on the otherhand, look really cute in their costumes. For me, there is an air of sadness tho … that they are still hanging around the mansion, playing nice with Hefner and his new romantic interests so soon after being replaced. It shows that they are good sports, I guess, but also hints that they’ve really got nothing else going on. I hope they are able to break away from the whole Playboy thing and move on to live successful lives. But Halloween stops for no bunny so it looks like it’s full steam ahead!

It’s really over. Hugh Hefner confirms he and Holly Madison are no longer. “If she says it’s over, it’s over,” Hefner tells me. “But like I’ve said before, she is the love of my life, and I expected to spend the rest of my life with her.” The Playboy mogul says the relationship started to crumble about six months ago when they learned he was unable to father a child with Holly. “With my sperm count, it’s not possible,” Hefner explained. “I was willing but it was not possible … She’d like to be married and have children, but it’s not in the cards here for me.” Where does that leave the other two Girls Next Door, Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt? Hefner says they’re still romantically involved, but admitted, “the relationship with Kendra will be ending when she moves out, probably by the end of this year.” Hef ain’t wasting anytime getting back in the saddle though. In the last week, he’s been spotted with 19-year-old twins Kristina and Karissa Shannon. “They very much want to be girlfriends and now under the present circumstance, they probably will become my girlfriends,” Hefner says.

Well then, I guess we’ve heard from both of the interested parties so it must really really be over. I gotta say … I’m a bit icked out about Hugh Hefner talking about his dwindling sperm count. You always hear about how men can father children well into old age … but I guess there really does come a time when a man, er, runs out of juice (EW, sorry!). But, onward and upwards, I suppose. Yesterday we got our first look at the set of twins, Karissa and Kristina, that Hef is lookin’ to “probably” make his replacement girlfriends. Malkin adds that Hefner has also been “testing” a girl named Amy Leigh Andrews at the Playboy Mansion this week for the position of one of his girlfriends. As to what “testing” involves, well, I’m sure I REALLY DON’T WANT TO KNOW the specifics of that.

Well, at least the ex-girlfriends all have each other’s fake breasts to lean on. And now, about those new girls (the following text is quoted from WWTDD?):

All right, so, earlier this morning, everyone confirmed what was on here yesterday, namely that Holly from “Girls Next Door” has broken up with Hugh Hefner. Meaning Hef is no longer dating any of the original Girls Next Door. That is not to say that Hef isn’t stabbin any teen kitty. In fact he’s tappin the two twins in the picture above, and they’re probable candidates for the next season of Girls Next Door. Their names are Kristina and Karissa Shannon (myspaces here and here and here). They are 19, from Tampa, Florida, haven’t been in Playboy yet, but have shot their Playmate pictorial, which will be in the magazine later this year, probably the Christmas issue. There’s another girl named Crystal McCahill (last 6 pictures, myspace here) who may or may not be in line for the show. I’ve had one say she is, two say she is not. I’m more inclined to believe the ones who say’s she is not. She has huge tits, but she’s not blond, and that may hold her back. Love can be funny sometimes.

It seems clear that Hugh Hefner has no problem finding young girlfriends whenever he wants to but while some see his behavior as “pimpin’” or “studly”, I think it’s really sad. An 80-year old man who is desperately trying to hold on to his youth by bedding young women isn’t that impressive to me. Had he decided to settle down with Holly (who wants to get married and have children), for example, I think I would’ve been much more impressed. But, he’s Hugh Hefner and I guess he’s got an image to uphold. I just hope it doesn’t kill him.

Girls Next Door star Holly Madison has confirmed that she and Hugh Hefner are officially over. When a TMZ cameraman recently asked her if she can get him into an upcoming Halloween bash at the Playboy mansion, she replied: “I have no pull anymore. Hef and I aren’t together.” Still, she said she, Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt are “still filming stuff together. We’re having fun.” Of their upcoming sixth season, she added, “It’s going to be even better. We love season five, but I think every season gets better.” Madison’s new comments come days after Hef denied reports of a split. “It’s all rumors without question. We have just completed our fifth season, and we’re all still together and have just signed on to a sixth season, which we start filming in the new year,” Hefner said at last week’s FOX REALLY Awards Show taping in Hollywood, according to Fox News. “There may be some transitions to the relationships though, we’ll see.” Last month, Hefner confirmed to Usmagazine.com that he and Madison’s relationship was “in transition.” “She is still my girlfriend,” he said. “Now will that last? I don’t think anything lasts forever. “I love her very much, but you know, she wants very much to get married and have children. That isn’t very much in the cards for me,” he adds. “So there has to be a certain reality there.”

Say it ain’t so! What is the world coming to when a 28-year old buxom blonde bombshell cannot find true love and happiness with an 82-year old pornographic magazine founder/publisher? This sad, y’all. That being said, there’ll prolly be Help Wanted signs going up at the Playboy mansion very soon (well, at least after the next season of Girls Next Door finishes airing) to fill the vacancy in Hef’s harem left by Holly and/or the other girls. Time to brush up those résumés ;)
