Rumor has it that the very enfianced Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie are planning to get hitched in Santa Barbara, CA this weekend … this, according to In Touch Weekly magazine. Now, these sorts of rumors oftentimes turn out to be false but there has been a lot of wedding chatter where Hila-rie are concerned and ITW really seems certain that the nuptials are going to take place this weekend in SB. Here are the deets as reported by In Touch:

In Touch can exclusively reveal that Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie are set to tie the knot this weekend at the beautiful San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif. The couple, who got engaged in Hawaii in February, chose the ranch where the late President John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline, spent their honeymoon for “its sense of Old Hollywood glamour and romantic style,” an insider tells In Touch. Hilary, 22, has been getting ready for her big day by working out six days a week, as well as taking dance lessons with her fiancé, Mike, 29. The pro hockey player presented his love with a $1 million engagement ring, and a source close to Mike tells In Touch, “No detail is going to be spared for their big day.”

To be honest, based on all the talk going around, this report sounds about right. The couple have been doing things that have been hinting at the planning of a wedding and the time and location sound about right. Whether or not the couple get hitched this weekend in Santa Barbara, they are deffo putting together a wedding ceremony to take place sometime soon. I guess we’ll find out very soon if In Touch are right about this … I, for one, would love to see these two say their I Dos sooner (like this weekend) rather than later.

Look out bookworms, popstar/actress Hilary Duff is coming for YOU! Hilary, who is happily engaged to be wed to hockey player Mike Comrie, is releasing her debut novel called Elixir this Fall. Simon & Schuster, her publisher, reveals that Elixir will be the first book in a series aimed at young adults. Here is our first look at the cover artwork for Hil D‘s first tome:

Hilary Duff has signed a deal with Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers to publish a young adult fiction series. The first novel in the series, Elixir, will be published in hardcover in October 2010. Simon & Schuster also secured world rights for a nonfiction title to be published in spring 2012. The nonfiction book will be about the challenges faced by children of divorce, an issue that has touched Hilary’s own life. Simon & Schuster says Hilary Duff’s Elixir series “combines the overpowering allure of a dangerous love triangle with thrilling international adventure.” Here is a description of the book from the Simon & Schuster press release.

I suppose if Lauren LC Conrad, of The Hills fame, can be an author why can’t Hilary Duff? In all honesty, I can’t say that Duff‘s foray into the world of young adult fiction seems all that interesting to me. But I might be willing to spend some time reading the nonfiction book she is planning to write. I’m always very curious to read things written by celebs. If, in fact, her book is not ghostwritten by someone else, I would be very interested to find out what her writing is like. I’m not sure if either of these literary offerings seem attractive to you but if either of these books get young adults to read, then I can’t really hate on them at all.

Hilary Duff, who was supposed to star in her own NBC TV series titled Barely Legal, will finally get to live out her office romance fantasies in a new ABC Family made for TV movie titled Beauty and the Briefcase. In Briefcase Duff will star as Lane Daniels a fashion journalist who is lookin’ for love. The movie will co-star actors Matt Dallas (Kyle XY) as the object of Lane‘s affections, Chris Carmack (The OC) as a music producer who wants Lane‘s affections and Michael McMilian (True Blood) as Lane‘s caring boss. First we learned the happy news that Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie got engaged, then we saw just how appreciative Hilary was to Mike for the lovely ring he gave her. Today we learn how much Comrie dropped on that ring for his new fiancée … and he dropped quite a lot of dough. Hilary and Mike have already made their way back to SoCal from their Hawaiian holiday (where the couple got engaged) and made a very public stop at Katsuya in Hollywood, CA for a coming out party of sorts. News that she got engaged to her boyfriend of more than two years while vacationing in Maui this week. Duff’s mom seemingly laughed off reports of her daughter’s engagement this week (just like the couple themselves did a year and a half ago), but we’re guessing that was before she caught a load of pictures seemingly catching the 29-year-old Comrie at his very moment of question popping. Those of you who have been watching the new season of Gossip Girl surely must be aware of how much tail Dan Humphrey (played by Penn Badgley) is getting on the show … I mean … a lot. He’s already been there and done that with Serena (played by Blake Lively) and Vanessa (played by Jessica Szohr) and just this season he got bizzy with Georgina Sparks (played by Michelle Trachtenberg) and soon he’ll be gettin’ his freak on with Olivia Burke (played by Hilary Duff). HMMM. I guess now that Chace Crawford‘s character has settled down with Joanna Garcia‘s character and Ed Westwick‘s character has settled down with Leigton Meester‘s character … the field is wide open for Penn to get his mack on. E!‘s Watch with Kristin blog brings us our first look at Hilary Duff in character as Olivia Burke on Gossip Girl. Here is a new promo pic released by The CW that features Hil D. in her debut ep on the show which will air on October 5:

Here she is! Hilary Duff joins the cast of Gossip Girl as movie star Olivia Burke for the Oct. 5 episode titled “Dan de Fleurette,” and we have the exclusive first look at Duff in character on the set! Duff’s character is assigned to be Vanessa’s (Jessica Szohr) roommate at NYU—their dorm room is the setting of the still above—and through Vanessa, Olivia gets to know Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley). Olivia becomes attracted to Dan, and vica versa. Of course, there’s a twist: Dan is so tuned out to pop culture that he doesn’t realize the girl he’s falling for is a huge movie star famous for her role in a Twilight-esque series of vampire movies. Still, the two college kids manage to make their odd-couple pairing work, and cuteness ensues. Yay!

LOL! Isn’t it amazing that Hilary Duff in character as Olivia Burke looks a lot like Hilary Duff in, well, real life? I’m thinking the fact that the Olivia character is described as “movie star who enrolls at NYU“ will help Hilary‘s acting abilities immensely … but, I guess there’s always room for epic failure. I’ll hold off on judgment of her acting skills on GG until I actually see them in action. This is a nice sneak peek tho … hopefully we’ll get to see something more substantial soon.

Production continues on the third season of Gossip Girl which begins airing next month … earlier this month we saw photos of new castmember Hilary Duff filming her first scenes for the show and today we get to see another photo of her and her female GG cohorts making their way to the Manhattan set yesterday afternoon:

Oh yeah, Penn Badgley is featured in these pics as well but I’m sure he don’t mind gettin’ lumped in with the ladies. I’m really looking forward to the return of this show especially to see if Hil D. will enhance the show or not. Not for nothing but I haven’t actually seen Hilary Duff in anything before so I have nothing to base an early opinion on … I do trust the GG folks to make some great eps so … I’m hopeful. Shoot, no matter what Hilary‘s role on the show will be I deffo know that I’ll be tuning in for Chuck Bass‘s gay kiss :) Woot!!
