'Modern Family' and 'Mad Men' take home the big awards
The 2010 Emmy Awards Are Handed Out

Last night at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, CA the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards were handed out on LIVE TV in a telecast that offered some entertainment, lots of surprises and a bit of disappointment. Here are a few photos of some of the attendees of last night’s Emmy Awards as they made their grand arrivals on the red carpet:

As for the show itself, well, overall I was a bit underwhelmed by what we were given. I thought Jimmy Fallon did a fairly good job as host but much of the show was tedious and annoying. The announcer who wouldn’t shut up as the night progressed really got on my nerves. They need to get rid of him, like, seriously. I really enjoyed Jimmy‘s musical interludes and I really enjoyed the show’s Glee-themed opening number. In case you missed it or just want to watch it again, you can do so after the jump …

Plus, find out how host Jimmy Fallon is reportedly opening the show
Celeb Presenters Rehearse For The 2010 Emmy Awards

Today’s the big day! The 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which honors the best in television arts and sciences, will air LIVE tonight on NBC at 8PM ET, 5PM ET. But, before the big show takes place tonight there was a whole lotta rehearsin’ going on at the Nokia Theater in downtown LA yesterday afternoon. Here are a few photos of some of the celebrity presenters rehearsing their stage cues yesterday along with some deets from inside the theater about what went down:

It was all laughs on the Nokia Theatre stage Saturday afternoon during rehearsals for Sunday’s show. Ricky Gervais, dressed casually in a T-shirt and track pants, poured on the comedy when comparing the Emmys with the Golden Globes, the more loose, party-like ceremony he hosted earlier this year and is slated to emcee again in 2011. “What’s wrong with having a little beer?” he asked. A smiley Neil Patrick Harris, who hosted the Emmys last year, greeted executive producer Don Mischer in the makeshift control room erected in the audience by yelling “Cut to commercial! Cut to commercial!” Harris later practiced his outstanding lead actress in a comedy series introduction, which features Harris poking fun at new host Jimmy Fallon. Jim Parsons from “The Big Bang Theory” and Sofia Vergara from “Modern Family” giggled their way through their bit, cracking up when she pronounced “Big Bang” in her thick Colombian accent. Keri Russell also joked around with Will Arnett, who mockingly booed when stand-ins for “American Idol” producers practiced accepting the competitive reality series Emmy.

Additionally, Deadline Hollywood claims to have the skinny on how Emmy host Jimmy Fallon plans to open tonight’s show. In order to keep the spoilery information out of sight for those of you who want to be surprised, I put the juicy deets behind the cut. For those of you who just can’t wait and gotta know what Jimmy‘s plan is — you can read all about it, after the jump …

Party Time, Excellent
‘Entertainment Weekly’ Gets The 2010 Pre-Emmy Awards Party Started

It’s Emmy Weekend and you know what that means … parties, parties, parties! Entertainment Weekly magazine got things going last night by teaming up with Women In Film to host their annual Pre-Emmy Award soiree at the Restaurant at The Sunset Marquis Hotel in West Hollywood, CA. Many of the folks from True Blood were in attendance last night, including newlyweds Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer who were photographed together for the first time since they hot hitched in Malibu, CA last weekend. Here are a few photos of some of the celebrants at EW‘s par-tay and some deets about the other soirées that took place around town last night:

Celebrities roaming the Entertainment Weekly and Women in Film pre-Emmy party late Friday night seemed to stay in packs. Fellow comedians Kathy Griffin and Bill Maher chatted outside the restaurant at the luxurious Sunset Marquis hotel, while adroit “Parks and Recreation” co-stars Adam Scott and Aubrey Plaza held court on the patio. Seth MacFarlane, nominated for original music and lyrics for “Family Guy,” and Seth Green, nominated in the voice-over category for “Robot Chicken,” kept each other in stitches near the bar. Inside, invitees filled golden goodies bags with free makeup. Other attendees included Craig Robinson from “The Office” and Jason Ritter from the upcoming “The Event.” The men of “Modern Family” reunited Friday night at the Emmys’ performers nominee reception at Wolfgang Puck’s Spectra inside the Pacific Design Center. Emmy nominees Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Fred Willard, along with Nolan Gould, who plays Burrell’s son on the ABC comedy, mingled at the posh cocktail party … On the other side of the party, “Dexter” actor James Remar and other attendees filled their plates with Chinese chicken salad, Shangri La lobster and miso-glazed salmon. Partygoers also feasted outside on the balcony on short ribs and sweet plantains while listening to a jazz band perform such tunes as “I Kissed a Girl” and the theme song from “Frasier.” Nominees in attendance, including “Mad Men” actress Elisabeth Moss and “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston, were presented with certificates by Academy of Television Arts and Sciences chairman John Schaffner, who recalled accidentally stepping on Glenn Close’s gown at a Screen Actors Guild event before he handed the “Damages” star her accolade.

There will be a host of parties going on here in LA tonight on the eve of the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which will air LIVE on NBC tomorrow night at 8PM ET, 5PM PT. It won’t be long now … we will very soon find out if our fave TV shows and actors will walk away with the coveted Emmy trophies. Who are YOU rootin’ for to win?

These are the folks handing out the prized trophies
And The 2010 Emmy Award Presenters Are . . .

We are just 2 days away from the big 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards set to air LIVE on NBC Sunday night at 8PM ET, 5PM PT. All week long we’ve been keeping up with Emmy host Jimmy Fallon and his preparations for the show … but today we learn about which of the A-List TV celebs will be presenting awards this Sunday night. True Blood superstars and newlyweds Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have been announced as presenters … as have Glee‘s Matthew Morrison, 30 Rock‘s Tina Fey, The Office‘s John Krasinski among others. Read on to find out who else will be handing out Emmy trophies during the live telecast this weekend:

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have signed on as presenters for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards show in Los Angeles, organizers said. The newlywed couple’s “True Blood” co-star Alexander Skarsgard has also been booked for Sunday’s event honoring the season’s best in television. The trio joins previously announced presenters Will Arnett, Stephen Colbert, Edie Falco, Tina Fey, Laurence Fishburne, Ricky Gervais, Jon Hamm, January Jones, John Krasinski, LL Cool J, Julianna Margulies, Joel McHale, Matthew Morrison, Eva Longoria Parker, Jim Parsons, Matthew Perry, Keri Russell, Blair Underwood and Sofia Vergara.

The last batch of Emmys presenters is unveiled and it includes nominees Claire Danes and Ted Danson. The former is up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her role in “Temple Grandin” while the latter has lost to “Dexter” star John Lithgow in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Joining Danes and Danson in the presenters list are fellow nominee Mariska Hargitay, Emily Deschanel, Nathan Fillion, Christopher Meloni, Lauren Graham, Tom Selleck, Maura Tierney and “Undercovers” couple Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. This string of stars complete the line-up who will take duties on the August 29 ceremony. The show will be broadcast live on NBC from the Nokia Theatre at 5 P.M. PDT.

Remember … Jimmy Fallon is asking for YOUR tweets to help him introduce some of these Emmy Awards presenters. You send in some witty intro about the scheduled presenters and he will read the best ones as he introduces them during the show. I’m sure many of y’all can think of very clever things to say about Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, LL Cool J et al. Also, if YOU are hosting or attending an Emmy party this weekend make sure you take lots of pics and then send them in for posting here on the blog! The Emmy Awards only come once a year … let’s make the most of it and have a blast!

"We're getting the final touches on the opening thing ... It's really fun"
Jimmy Fallon Dishes On His Hosting Gig For The 2010 Emmy Awards

We are just a few days away from the live telecast of the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards and that means that the folks putting together the show are in the final stretch of preparations for the big to do. As you should be well aware, Jimmy Fallon will be hosting the Emmys this year and he shared with the LA Times a bit of info about some of the preparations that he is doing for this Sunday night’s show:

The Emmy Awards may be less than a week away, but Jimmy Fallon has yet to lose his cool over hosting Sunday’s 62nd annual prime-time event. “We’re getting the final touches on the opening thing that we’re doing. It’s really fun,” Fallon told us … “I’m at the Nokia Theater all day long now, from now until the Emmys. Just getting ready. It’s a long process, a lot of rehearsals, stuff like that” … Fallon was disappointingly tight-lipped about what audiences can expect from this year’s telecast, saying only that a lot of our “favorite TV stars” will be “helping him out” during the show’s opening segment. He also would not reveal which nominees he was rooting for. But he did make one thing clear — the Emmys won’t share many similarities with his late night talk show. “There’s no Roots, sadly. The Roots didn’t come with me from New York. Kind of miss them,” he said, referring to his show’s band. “I think if it’s too much me, it takes away from the fun of the Emmys. My job as a host is to keep moving fast and to let the other people shine, the nominees. Make it a fun night for everybody.”

You know, I really love Jimmy Fallon. Not only is he always funny but he really strikes me as a really kind, really down to Earth guy. My friend Tony and I were at the live taping of America’s Got Talent last night to watch Kylie Minogue perform her new single Get Out Of My Way yesterday afternoon and Jimmy came out to do a short bit for the show as well. He was really funny, yes, but he was also very kind to the audience yesterday. I can’t wait to watch him host the Emmys this Sunday night. After the jump, check out a short video of Jimmy‘s impromptu interview with the LA Times

Red alert
Jimmy Fallon Rolls Out The Red Carpet For The 2010 Emmy Awards

Jimmy Fallon, host of the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, was joined by Television Academy President John Shaffner and Emmy Awards Executive Producer Don Mischer at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles just moments ago to officially roll out the red carpet for this weekend’s awards show. Here are a few photos from this morning’s red carpet unveiling event:

I understand that this is the first time an Emmy host has presided over the red carpet unveiling but it’s totally unsurprising that Jimmy would want to be a part of such a fun event. Yesterday we learned that Jimmy is asking YOU to send your tweets so that he can read them live on air and today he’s rolling up his sleeves to roll out the red carpet for the Emmy Awards. I have a feeling that his hosting job this weekend is going to be really fun. While I’m very excited to watch this year, I simply cannot believe we’re already moving into awards season again … can you? Remember the 2010 Emmy Awards air LIVE on NBC this Sunday night at 8PM ET and 5PM PT. Be there or be square.

Tweet your way onto the Emmy telecast this Sunday
Jimmy Fallon Wants To Read Your Tweets During The 2010 Emmy Awards

Jimmy Fallon, host of the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards which will air this Sunday night on NBC, is asking for YOUR tweets to help him introduce Emmy Award presenters during the upcoming telecast this weekend. Jimmy is asking that YOU send in clever tweet introductions for 15 of this year’s presenters and he will read the best ones on air during the show:

Jimmy Fallon wants your tweet to be part of the Emmy Awards. Fallon, who’s hosting the ceremony on NBC, said the public will be able to submit an introduction through Twitter for up to 15 Emmy presenters, or about half the celebrities who will be handing out trophies. He’ll read the best tweet as each star comes on stage. Starting Wednesday, a list of the presenters involved will be posted at NBC’s website, along with a Twitter link to enter suggested introductions. Previously announced presenters include nominees Matthew Morrison of “Glee” and Jon Hamm and January Jones of “Mad Men.” For example, Fallon said, he’ll announce the chosen tweet, user name included: “@blahblahblah says Jon Hamm is the hottest guy of all time. Here he is, Jon Hamm,” NBC’s “Late Night” host riffed. The Emmys air live Sunday, Aug. 29, at 8 p.m. EDT, from the downtown Nokia Theatre. The planned three-hour ceremony will be live at 5 p.m. on the West Coast and repeated at its conclusion.

Now I know that there are a LOT of clever folks out there so I think you should come up with your best tweets and submit them. How awesome would it be if a Pink reader managed to get their tweet read by Jimmy Fallon live on the air during the Emmy Awards telecast? Altho the full list of presenters won’t be revealed until tomorrow, I think it might be wise to draft a few tweets in preparation. This is your chance to be part of the Emmys, how fun is that?

Neil Patrick Harris Wins 2, Betty White Wins 1
The 2010 Creative Arts Emmy Awards Are Handed Out

Yesterday afternoon the 2010 Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out in a ceremony held at the Nokia Theater in downtown LA, CA much to the delight of a few of our fave television actors. Neil Patrick Harris, who we learned last week will be welcoming the birth of twin babies this October, managed to win two of the awards handed out yesterday and our beloved Golden Girl Betty White nabbed a trophy for her hosting performance on Saturday Night Live last Spring. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals yesterday (loving Mary Lynn Rajskub and Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks in her sexy Christian Siriano dress) and some deets about who won what:

She won for being naughty on the subject of muffins, and he won – twice – for singing and dancing. Betty White’s Facebook-generated Saturday Night Live hosting gig and Neil Patrick Harris’s turns as Tonys host and special guest star on Glee landed both veteran TV stars in the winners’ circle at Saturday night’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Though White, 88, was not at the Nokia Theater to collect her prize (her Snickers ad was also up for TV’s highest honor), presenters John Lithgow and Clyde Phillips accepted on her behalf. Meanwhile, Harris, 37, was present and accounted for … Harris, who also thanked his partner and (co-parent-to-be) David Burtka, is up for a best supporting actor in a series, for How I Met Your Mother, at next Sunday’s Primetime Emmy Awards. Saturday’s other winners also included Jaime Oliver’s Food Revolution (best reality series), previous Emmy-winning Survivor host Jeff Probst (best reality-show host) and Ann-Margret, for her guest -starring role on Law and Order: SVU. The ad firm Weiden + Kennedy also received a Creative Arts Emmy for its Old Spice commercial, whose star, Isaiah Mustafa, told the Hollywood Reporter before the ceremony, “This is my first awards show, and I get to be nominated alongside Betty White!”

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards don’t usually get this much attention but considering the caliber of nominees this year, it’s no wonder this news is making a big splash. The big Emmy Awards are next week … but these Creative Arts Emmys are getting major attention. After the jump, check out a few photos of some of the winners at this year’s Creative Arts Emmys
