‘Melrose Place’ Releases A New Promo Vid For Heather Locklear’s Return

"Look Who's Back!"
Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Now that we’ve primarily digested the news that Melrose Place is axing two of its main characters (no matter how painful that news may be), I think it’s time to look forward and celebrate who’s at long last coming back on board to the show. A new promo video, brought to my attention by Pink reader Collin, popped up on Facebook today formally announcing Heather Locklear’s return to Melrose:

It’s short, sweet and to the point. After the jump, check out one more screencap and watch this new promo video in full for yourselves …

Amanda Woodward & Dr. Michael Mancini Together Again On ‘Melrose Place’

Bitchy & Bitchier
Friday, October 16th, 2009

Back in April of this year we learned that original Melrose Place castmember Thomas Calabro, who played Dr. Michael Mancini for the duration of the series, officially signed on to reprise his role on the new version of MP and just a few weeks ago, we learned that Heather Locklear (who played Amanda Woodward) signed on to reprise her role on the show. Now, we’ve already seen photos of Locklear on the MP set but today we get to see her shooting new scenes with Calabro … behold:

Fans of the original Melrose know that these two characters have always enjoyed a tenuous relationship … Amanda never settled for Michael’s bullshizz but even he managed to pull some stuff on her. These two characters are smart, conniving and very strong characters … it will be AMAZING to see them interact together again on the show. Seriously, it’s like the mid-90’s again … and I love it!! Locklear will be making her debut on the show in just a few weeks … I am practically counting down the seconds … I cannot wait!!!

Heather Locklear Films Her First Scenes For ‘Melrose Place’

Hurray!! The micro-miniskirt is back, too!
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Last week we learned the amazing news that Heather Locklear has decided to FINALLY sign on and reprise her role as Amanda Woodward on the new version of Melrose Place and today we get our FIRST LOOK at Heather as Amanda on the MP set yesterday afternoon. Fans of the original Melrose Place and the Amanda Woodward character alike will be THRILLED to see that she is wearing a trademark micro-miniskirt on her first day back on set:

Like an Applebee’s dinner entree, The CW’s Melrose Place reboot is dripping with cheese, not to mention guilt-inducingly addictive. And while I’d rank the show’s breakout character, Katie Cassidy’s Ella Simms, as prime-time’s reigning head-bitch-in-heels — last night’s “Don’t flatter yourself, David: I always have a good time” was a howl-and-repeat zinger — I’m pretty stoked that Heather Locklear’s Amanda Woodward will soon be in the mix to stir up trouble and (hopefully) boost ratings. After all, Ella-vs.Amanda > Ella-vs.Snoozy-Jane, no? To that end, Locklear was back on the set of Melrose — and back in Amanda’s signature short skirt — for her first day of shooting yesterday, as the accompanying photos prove. Locklear is scheduled to make the first of her multiple appearances starting with the show’s Nov. 17 episode, and I’m curious, if her presence will make you more likely to watch Melrose?

OMGOMGOMG … see, I already love the new Melrose Place so the addition of Amanda Woodward is just TOO MUCH. I LOVED her bitchtastic character on the show the first time around, I can’t wait to see her back in action on the new version of MP. The only thing that could make Amanda’s return to Melrose even better would be if Allison Parker (played by Courtney Thorne-Smith) came back as well so that she could lie down in front of the Melrose Place apartment complex so Amanda can wipe her razor sharp stiletto shoes on Allison’s prostrate body as she makes her grand entrance on the show. Can someone make that happen, please?

Heather Locklear Finally Signs On To Reprise Her Role On ‘Melrose Place’

The price is right
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Great news for fans of the original version of Melrose Place and those new fans of the redux version … after initially turning down an offer to reprise her role as superbitch extraordinaire Amanda Woodward, Heather Locklear has finally agreed to appear on MP in the character that redefined the word “bitch” in the 1990s. Here is the full text of the just released press release announcement:

Heather Locklear will reprise her role as scheming vixen Amanda Woodward of “Melrose Place,” which airs Tuesdays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on The CW. Locklear will make her debut appearance on the show Tuesday, November 17. “We’re ecstatic to have the chance to bring Amanda Woodward back to ‘Melrose Place,’” said executive producers Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer. “Heather’s involvement in the show is something we’ve been working on for some time as we couldn’t imagine creating and producing this show without the iconic character’s inclusion.” Locklear joined the popular 1990s series of “Melrose Place” at the end of season one and stayed on throughout the series’ successful seven-year run. She joins original castmates Laura Leighton, Thomas Calabro, Josie Bisset and Daphne Zuniga in the updated version for The CW.

As you may recall, Locklear turned down an offer to reprise her role because she felt it “didn’t make sense” for her to return to the show … something must’ve changed between then and now because it clearly makes sense for her to come back. My guess is that the price was right and Locklear finally decided she wasn’t getting any younger ;) I love the mixture of old characters and new on Melrose Place … this is great news! I already love the show … having Amanda Woodward back in the mix will make it all the better. I hope she will still wear those micro-miniskirts that she made famous in the 90’s … perhaps she can revive that fashion trend again.

Heather Locklear Decides To NOT Sign On For The ‘Melrose Place’ Redux

It, apparently, didn't "make sense" for her to reprise her role
Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Bummer news for the old skool Melrose Place fans … according to Entertainment Weekly magazine, Heather Locklear has decided to pass on reprising the role of the micro-skirted, tough-as-nails Amanda Woodward in the upcoming CW redux of the 90’s hit TV series Melrose Place which is currently in production. Earlier this month we learned that Ashlee Simpson had signed on to appear in the Melrose redux. A day later we learned that Marcia Cross (who played Dr. Kimberly Shaw-Mancini on the original series) is “too busy” to worry about returning to Melrose Place. Rumors were swirling that producers were desperate to get Locklear to reprise her role but, alas, it wasn’t meant to be:

One person who won’t be moving back into Melrose Place? Heather Locklear. The actress — who played the key role of Amanda Woodward on the original series — has turned down an offer to join the cast of the CW’s update of the hit Fox serial, EW has learned. “There wasn’t a way to bring her back that made sense,” says a source close to the situation. While the network and studio won’t comment, her reps do confirm that Locklear has passed. It’s no secret that the CW was aggressively pursuing Locklear and will likely want to secure another star from the original show. The reboot, which is slated for the fall, has already cast Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Jessica Lucas, Michael Rady, and Katie Cassidy.

It’s no wonder that the Melrose folks really wanted Locklear to return … before she debuted on the series the first time around, MP was a kinda boring-none-too-special run-of-the-mill TV series where everyone loved one another and there was no drama to speak of. Enter Heather Locklear as Amanda Woodward and all hell broke loose … the back-stabbing, the bitch fights, the sleeping around … the show found new life and went on to become one of the most successful series of the decade. That being said, I don’t understand how producers think that Locklear would be able to work the same magic this time around. Even if she reprises her role as Amanda Woodward, I doubt her character would still have the same punch after all these years to invigorate the show. I’m not sure if any of the old MP characters can do that … but that wont’ stop producers from trying. They need to get a female old skooler to return … they’ll prolly get Laura Leighton (who played Sydney Andrews) or Daphne Zuniga (who played Jo Reynolds). They’ll prolly also get a male old skooler or two (Grant Show? Thomas Calabro?). At least now we know, for sure, that Heather Locklear won’t be returning … and it’s prolly for the best.

Heather Locklear Ventures Out In Public After Weekend Arrest

Takes a meeting, gets back to work, was possibly set up
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Heather Locklear may have gotten herself arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence this past Sunday morning but that ain’t slowing down her bizzy work schedule. Heather was spotted at a lunch meeting with her real estate agent at an LA cafe yesterday afternoon one day after she was arrested in the Santa Barbara, CA area for alleged DUI. Interestingly enough, the woman who called 911 on Heather and reported that she was “driving drunk” turned out to be none other than former US Weekly editor Jill Ishkanian … curious, no? Here’s a pic of Heather at her lunch meeting yesterday and the curious deets of Ishkanian’s involvement in her weekend arrest:

The woman who called 911 on Heather Locklear is a former Us Weekly staffer who was under investigation by the FBI — and she’s the one who tipped off the paparazzi! Jill Ishkanian, who allegedly hacked into Us Weekly’s computer system to locate celebs after she left the mag, was following Locklear in the Montecito area. Ishkanian watched the actress go to a market. When Heather got in her car, Ishkanian called 911, even though the car wasn’t even moving at the time … sources say immediately after Ishkanian called 911, she called a paparazzi agency to give them the heads up Heather was about to be popped … Ishkanian apparently is the only witness who says Locklear was driving erratically and that she was drunk, even though it’s already established she was not under the influence of alcohol.

Shady, shady. Something tells me that absolutely nothing is gonna stick to Heather Locklear from this arrest … the fact that the only witness to her crime is a former tabloid magazine staffer who was stalking her and then alerted the paparazzi to photographer her arrest seems to point to a situation where all charges may be dropped. It looks like Heather may have gotten lucky on this one … hopefully she’s learned her lesson and will stay squeaky clean from here on out.
