Welp, so much for great expectations. It is with a heavy heart that I report that the DC Comics superhero film Green Lantern — which stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong and Peter Sarsgaard — is, at best, an average movie. Try as I might to like it, I came away from the seeing the film firmly convinced that Green Lantern is a solid C movie; a 5 out of 10. For every cool, awesome thing in the film there was a terrible, face palming thing to negate the positive. While I didn’t hate the movie entirely, I can’t say that I even came close to loving it.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were joined by their co-stars as well as friends and family at the Hollywood premiere of their new film Green Lantern, which opens in theaters tomorrow. Grauman’s Chinese Theater was the site of last night’s affair and the red black carpet was packed with lots of GL fans. Unfortch, tho, as the release date gets closer, more and more less than favorable reviews keep coming out for the film … which kinda sucks cuz I really want this movie to be awesome. The DC Comics film Green Lantern won’t open in theaters until June 17 but today we get to see 8 video clips which gives us, essentially, 8 minutes of the film. Spread out over the course of the film — from before Hal Jordan becomes Green Lantern up to his climactic final battle scene with Parallax — these clips kinda let you watch the film before the film is even released. Now, I’m not a big fan of watching too much footage from films before they are released but … I kinda slipped and watched all of these clips myself. Earlier this month we got to see a trailer for Green Lantern that showed us what the main plot of the film is going to be all about … but today we get to see an even newer trailer that shows us how the whole Green Lantern thing got started in the first place. Because this is the first Green Lantern film, there has to be a bit of origin story tossed into the mix. The new trailer, which you can watch below, explains how the Green Lantern Corps came to be … billions of years ago.

Here in the US we have the Got Milk? campaign … in the UK, they call it the Make Mine Milk campaign. The campaigns to get kids to drink milk may have different names but they have the same goal and the same milk’stache gimmick. In new poster artwork released in the UK this month, Green Lantern (played by Ryan Reynolds) is rockin’ the milk’stache … which you can see below.

Last month we got to see video footage of the upcoming DC Comics film Green Lantern that was screened at WonderCon 2011 which technically wasn’t an official trailer per se but did feature a lot of footage from the film. In November of last year, we got to see the first official trainer released for Green Lantern. Today we get to see a newly released trailer for Lantern that shows us what the central plot of the film will be. Yes, we’ll see an origin story and yes, Green Lantern will face one of his most infamous villains … but there is another threat that looks to be the main focus of the film’s central storyline.

Earlier today we got to see Captain America actor Chris Evans and Thor actor Chris Hemsworth on the cover of the new issue of USA Weekend magazine and right now we get to see their superhero compatriot Green Lantern in new promo photos that have made their way online. Green Lantern, the big screen adaptation of the long-running DC Comics series, won’t open in theaters until June but this weekend at WonderCon 2011 in San Francisco, CA convention attendees got to see a LOT of new footage from the film. Early reports claim that folks who were lucky enough to screen the footage in person at WonderCon literally lost their shizz with excitement. Last Saturday we got our first look at the first video footage released from the upcoming big screen adaptation of the DC Comics series Green Lantern and today we get to see the film’s first movie trailer in full. This trailer is about 2 1/2 minutes long and it shows quite a lot … including the infamous Green Lantern villain Dr. Hector Hammond (played by Peter Sarsgaard) and villain-to-be Sinestro (played by Mark Strong). Thankfully this trailer is presented in HD so the GGI effects don’t look as worrisome as they did in the grainy video we saw last weekend. On Tuesday, Entertainment Tonight will air the first video footage released from the new DC Comics movie adaptation of Green Lantern (which stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern and Blake Lively as Carol Ferris) but this weekend they have released a teaser clip that features about 30 seconds of the footage they plan to show on Tuesday. Here are a few screencaps from that teaser footage:

As you can see, Green Lantern character Kilowog makes an appearance in the clip but what you don’t see in these caps is a quick scene of Ryan Reynolds getting out of bed wearing only a pair of tighty whitey undies. For that, you’ll have to check out the video clip, after the jump …
