Denies that she is engaged to be married
Janet Jackson Does ‘Good Morning America’

Last Friday we learned of a report from In Touch Weekly magazine that claimed that Janet Jackson had gotten herself engaged to be married to her billionaire boyfriend Wissam Al Mana. Today, in an interview with Good Morning America to promote her new film For Colored Girls, Janet Jackson categorically denied that she and Wissam are engaged:

She had to deal with the same rumours about her last boyfriend. But Janet Jackson took it all in her stride this morning as she laughed her way through a simple denial – that she is not engaged to her boyfriend of several months Wissam Al Mana. The 44-year-old singer looked radiant as she chatted with the breakfast show host on ABC’s Good Morning America today. Janet was on the show to promote her upcoming film For Colored Girls – a movie based on Ntozake Shange’s play ‘For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.’ Unlike the original play which featured only 7 women known by colours performing the collection of 20 poems, the movie has given each of the 20 characters names. Each of the poems deal with intense issues that particularly impact women in a thought-provoking commentary on what it means to be a female of colour in the world. The film is released on November 5 and has an all star cast including Thandie Newton, Kerry Washington, Whoopie Goldberg, Macy Gray and Michael Ealy. The interview inevitably turned to the singer’s personal life and when asked about her blossoming relationship she shot down any marriage rumours. ‘He is a very private man so i don’t talk about our relationship,’ she said of Al Mana, an Arab businessman she began dating in April after splitting from long-term boyfriend of seven years, music producer, Jermaine Dupri. During that relationship, the couple dodged continuous rumours about an engagement and even a secret wedding. ‘But it is really important that I just say this,’ continued Jackson to the host. ‘They (media) have been trying to marry me off for a very very long time.’ No I am not engaged, I will say that. I am in a really good place.’

Not at all surprising that Janet is not engaged … so I’m glad that’s been settled. I must say, the more I hear about For Colored Girls, the more I am dying to see the film! The trailers that I have seen look so powerful, I am really anxious to see this film. While we may not be congratulating Janet on any upcoming nuptials, we may be congratulating her on a few award nominations.

Nicole Richie Signs Books, Does ‘Good Morning America’

Nicole Richie made her way to NYC this week to do some promo for the release of her new novel Priceless, which we learned was coming our way back in June when we got our first look at the tome’s cover artwork, and made an in-person appearance at a Borders bookstore last night to sign a few copies for some of her fans:

Earlier today, Nicole made an appearance on ABC‘s Good Morning America to talk about the release of her new book. After the jump, check out video of Nicole‘s appearance on GMA this morning and read an excerpt from her just-released novel Priceless

The Hollywood "It" Girl shows no signs of slowing down
Betty White Does ‘Good Morning America’, ‘Nightline’

Betty White, who we last saw here in Los Angeles, CA last weekend at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards honoring her friend and co-star Sandra Bullock, has made her way to NYC to do a bit of promo and paid a visit to Good Morning America to appear on the show earlier today. Here are a couple of photos of Betty making her way into the ABC Studios lookin’ as divine as ever:

I am still just amazed at how active Miss Betty is these days. She’s flyin’ around the country to appear at award shows, she’s making herself available to all sorts of interviews AND she is prepping for the premiere of her NEW TV SERIES Hot in Cleveland set to debut on TV Land this Wednesday night. The woman is simply amazing! After the jump check out her video interview from GMA this morning and watch her video interview on ABC‘s Nightline which aired last Friday night …

Shannon Price speaks
Gary Coleman’s Ex-Wife Does Good Morning America

Back on May 28, we learned the shockingly sad news that actor Gary Coleman, who famously starred in the sitcom Diff’rent Strokes in the 80′s, passed away at the age of 42 after his ex-wife Shannon Price made the decision to take him off life support just one day after he suffered a massive head injury in their Utah home. Today, Price — who was NOT married to Coleman at the time of his death — made a televised appearance on Good Morning America to talk about the circumstances surrounding Gary‘s death and to answer some pointed questions about the tragic night that he died. Here are a few screencaps from her appearance and some excerpts from her interview:

Gary Coleman’s ex-wife emphatically denied contributing to the fall that would lead to the former child star’s death last month, saying she “would take my own life before I would ever, ever harm him.” Shannon Price, who arrived for her interview in a wheelchair and had to stop speaking when she thought she might be suffering a seizure, told “Good Morning America” she said is happy that Coleman is no longer suffering. “We discussed death a few times and he always said he would be very unfair if he left me and I really respect that,” Price said “because I loved him and he loved me and we just can’t live without each other.” Coleman, who shot to fame on the television show “Diff’rent Strokes” and struggled as an adult with substance abuse and anger issues, died May 26 of intracranial hemorrhage. Price was by his side as he was removed from life support. In a panicked 911 call, Price can be heard describing the scene after Coleman apparently fell and split the back of his head open, spilling blood “everywhere” and causing her to fear for his life. “His head is bloody. There’s blood all over the floor. I don’t know what happened. I really don’t know what happened,” she told the dispatcher. Coleman can be heard groaning in the background. “Sit down, sit down, Gary sit down! Look at the floor, sit down!” she said on the tape. Then later, she told the dispatcher, “I can’t be here with the blood, I really can’t. I have blood on myself. I can’t deal.” Price said that speculation that she pushed Coleman is untrue. “I asked him if he could make me some food,” she told “Good Morning America.” “He went down there and I heard this big smack. I went down there and found him in a pool of blood.” “People can say whatever they want. I know the truth,” she said. “I would never hurt my husband, ever.” “I was with him down there the whole time. Seeing him in a pool of blood was difficult,” she said. “If it was someone else in my situation I am sure they wouldn’t know what to do either” … Price has been feuding with Coleman’s parents since his death. His funeral was postponed while the two sides argued over where he should be laid to rest. His parents have said they’ve tried contacting Price to get more information about their son’s last hours, but that she has not responded. “My brother called them and talked to the mother and said if you have any questions let me know and she didn’t have anything to say,” Price said. It was recently revealed that the couple had actually divorced in 2008, just shy of their one-year anniversary. Price said they had been meaning to re-new their vows, but their respective health issues got in the way. “We decided that wasn’t what we wanted. We just had a disagreement,” she said. “After we filed and it went through we decided that wasn’t the right choice” … Price said that despite financial struggles, arguments aired on television and the infamous “Divorce Court” appearance, the two were always in love. “Yeah, we had our disagreements, but it was golden,” she said. “Nothing could come between us.” Price said her life is now “up in the air.” “I have had a lot of health issues. I have seizures, I have anxiety,” she said. “I miss my husband a lot. I can barely get around. It’s been a trial.”

Man … I dunno … something about this woman has got me really suspicious of her actions. The fact that the couple were legally divorced in under a year and they never remarried seems clear proof to me that the couple were not as happy as Price would have us believe. I still do not understand how Price had the legal authority to take her ex-husband off life support. Gary Coleman may have been estranged from his parents but the fact that they were not notified of the decision to end his life is very troubling. I also find it very suspect that we have never seen Shannon Price in a wheelchair before … so why now? She was being filming for a television interview, why did she need to be shown in her wheelchair? I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, sometimes way too much, but I simply neither trust nor wholly believe Shannon Price. After the jump, check out video of her interview with Good Morning America and judge for yourselves …

"Catching up with David Beckham"
David Beckham Does ‘Good Morning America’

Earlier today we saw a few cute pics of David Beckham and his sons hanging out with Tom Brady and his son at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA over the weekend … but Becks is no longer in SoCal as he popped up on this mornings episode of Good Morning America to talk a bit about his family, his injury and his sad exclusion from this year’s World Cup tournament:

Soccer superstar David Beckham dropped by “Good Morning America” today to talk a little football — or soccer, for us Americans. Despite an injury that will keep him benched, Beckham said he intend to head to South Africa for the FIFA World Cup in June.

I understand that our dear Becks will be making the rounds on all the NYC TV shows this week to hype up his sidelined participation in the World Cup this June. As I passed along last week, Becks will also be appearing on The View this week … I suspect he’ll be appearing a few other shows as well. After the jump, check out video of Becks‘s appearance on GMA this morning to see/hear what he had to say …

Pretty, pretty princess
Josh Duhamel Does ‘Good Morning America’

Josh Duhamel paid a visit to ABC studios in NYC this AM for an appearance on Good Morning America to do some promo for his new film When In Rome (which opens in theaters this Friday). As you can see from the following photos, Duhamel was in a giddy mood … he seemed anxious to let his inner princess out:

Even in a tiara the man looks hawt. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again … Fergie Ferg is a lucky lady. When In Rome looks like one of those cheesy “chick flick”s that I get suckered into seeing (usually by my BFF Sarah) and then end up loving so much I watch them over and over and over again when they finally air on cable (ie. P.S. I Love You, 27 Dresses, etc.). I’m not sure if I will actually see this film in theaters just yet. What do y’all think? Is this a movie that YOU are planning to see?

Which is complete and UTTER bullshizz, IMHO
Donny Osmond Wins The 2009 ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Championship

Last night, the voting public and judges of the the ABC show Dancing with the Stars decided to name Donny Osmond as the new Dancing with the Stars champion … much to my complete horror and chagrin. Now granted I didn’t watch one second of the competition this season so I’m prolly not in the best position to speak so forcefully but I cannot, for the life of me, imagine that Donny Osmond gave a more successful performance over the amazing Mya (who was also in competition on DWTS this season) … but alas, ’tis so … Osmond ended up winning the championship in the end:

Donny Osmond was declared the new champion of “Dancing With Stars” on Tuesday night, taking home the show’s mirror ball trophy in the season finale of the ABC contest reality program. Osmond, the former teen pop star of the singing Osmond family, said the show has been a highlight in a career of ups and downs. “I did it!” Osmond exclaimed. He promptly rushed to the audience and plucked out his wife, Debbie, whom he carried across the stage. Helping push Osmond over the top was the tango he performed Tuesday with his professional dancing partner, Kym Johnson. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba hailed it as “artistry in motion.” It earned the top score of the final performances. Three celebrities made it to the finale of the show’s ninth season — Osmond, Mya and Kelly Osbourne, the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. The show picks a winner with a combination of judges’ scores and viewer votes. Mya entered as the favorite, having won the highest scores on Monday’s show. Dancing with Dmitry Chaplin, she performed a jive. “I’m just so happy to have made it to the finals,” Mya said after the loss. The 30-year-old singer is most famous for collaborating on the Grammy-winning hit “Lady Marmalade” from the soundtrack of 2001′s “Moulin Rouge!” Osbourne was the first of the three eliminated. With her famous family — Ozzy, Sharon and Jack — looking on, Osbourne and professional partner Louis Van Amstel danced to a cover of Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble.” The 25-year-old was clearly moved and began crying after her last dance. She thanked the audience and said she had “grown so much” during the show. Co-host Samantha Harris said Osbourne had become “a swan.” The finale culminated a season of good ratings for “Dancing With the Stars,” which consistently ranked as one of the most-watched shows of the fall.

HMMM … isn’t that interesting … Mya, who I understand performed consistently and almost perfectly thruout the entire competition, scored the highest score on Monday night for the last judged performance and she still lost to Donny Osmond — who, I might add, was on Entertainment Tonight (an entertainment “news” program) on a semi-nightly basis whipping up support from viewers. I suspect Osmond, who is a staunch Mormon, prolly received a lot of support from the more conservative voters as well. To be honest, I’m not at all surprised … the show is a joke. After Melanie Brown lost on the show when she should’ve won and after Lance Bass also lost when he should’ve won, I no longer have any confidence in this crappy show as an actual determiner of dancing skill. But, I digress. After the jump, check out photos of the three finalists — Mya, Osbourne and Osmond — on ABC‘s Good Morning America earlier today …

Rihanna Promotes ‘Rated R’ In NYC

Rihanna, who’s new album Rated R was finally released on Monday, spent a bizzy night and day in NYC yesterday and today promoting that album release. Last night, she did an in-store appearance to sign copies of Rated R and this morning she performed on the Good Morning America stage … here are a few photos:

As you may recall, Ri Ri was here in SoCal to perform on the American Music Awards on Sunday night — and last week she even performed on the world’s largest cruise ship off the coast of Florida … so she is working hard to get folks interested in buying her album. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a promo copy before the album was released and while I enjoy it very much, I’m not really blown away by it. Have any of y’all bought the album yet? Do you love it? Hate it? Is any of this promo gettin’ you interested in picking up Rated R?

The ABC morning show pulls his scheduled performance
‘Good Morning America’ Cancels Adam Lambert

After ABC reportedly received over 1,500 complaints over Adam Lambert‘s “shocking” performance on the 2009 American Music Awards on Sunday night, Good Morning America has decided to cancel his scheduled appearance and performance on their show tomorrow morning. It looks like Glambert ended up alienating more people than he did entertaining them:

The people who didn’t like Adam Lambert’s “American Music Awards” performance won’t have to worry about a repeat performance on “Good Morning America” — cause that gig is canceled. Leading a guy around on a leash and kissing another was apparently too much for ABC. A rep for the show told TV Newser, “Given his controversial live performance on the AMAs we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.” Ironically enough, Lambert announced he was gay on “20/20″ earlier this year — which airs on ABC.

While this controversy may not be great for his image (or for record sales) it’s not the end of the world for him … yet. My guess is another show on a competing network will snap him up for an appearance just so they can ask him about the controversy (perhaps to cast ABC in a negative light). BUT … if Glambert keeps up this need to create controversy just for the sake of generating buzz, I fear his music career has nowhere to go but down. You don’t really hear anyone talking about his debut album For Your Entertainment which was released for sale yesterday … all people are talking about is his “shocking” AMAs performance. I wasn’t shocked or entertained by his performance … but I am not his target audience. If he wants to have a career he’s gonna hafta play nice with folks eventually … I guess we’ll have to see if he’s up for the task.
