‘Glee’ Planning A Britney Spears Episode?

Hot on the heels of the huge success of the Madonna episode that aired this past Tuesday, it was reported on Wednesday that Glee is planning to do another episode devoted entirely to the music of Madonna early in the next season this Fall. Because of all the hype generated by this successful ep, a new push has begun to have the show do an entire episode devoted entirely to the music of Britney Spears. Britney‘s manager, Adam Leber, posted a message on Twitter asking fans if they want to see a Britney Spears episode of Glee … he even got the chatter to trend with the hashtag #BritneySpearsGlee. Could it be? Will this actually happen?

Britney Spears is reportedly hoping for an episode of Glee based on her songs. An edition of the show featuring nine Madonna tracks aired in the US earlier this week and the cast is releasing an EP of the cover versions. Spears’s manager Adam Leber has now asked fans whether they would like a Britney episode. Writing on Twitter, he said: “Do you guys want to see a Britney Spears episode of GLEE? Thoughts?” Meanwhile, Us Weekly reports that the ‘hashtag’ Leber invented, #BritneySpearsGlee, began trending. Glee creator Ryan Murphy recently confirmed that he is planning another Madonna episode.

First, yes … this will happen. The fact that Britney‘s manager is even talking about this means that her people are amenable to letting the show use her music in this way. Second, the folks at Glee will have access to a pop music catalog that will allow them to make a full, well-rounded episode much like they did with the Madonna ep. They will also have the opportunity to release another mini-album of their version of Britney‘s songs … fans will buy that release, guaranteed. Can you imagine … Sue Sylvester featuring in her own music video for Oops! I Did it Again? or I’m A Slave 4 U or Toxic? Ye gods, the awesome possibilities are endless. Because this season has already finished filming, we’ll have to wait at least until next season to see this happen … but mark my words — it’ll happen. What do y’all think? Irregardless of what you think of Britney Spears herself, you cannot deny that her catalog of songs is AMAZING! Which Britney songs would you like to see get the Glee treatment?

UPDATE: Pink reader Rigo informs me that there is a Facebook fan campaign HERE started up by fans to lobby the Glee folks to make this Britney Spears episode. Now YOU can join the call to make this happen :)

If at first you DO succeed ...
‘Glee’ Plans Another Madonna Episode For Next Season

So … how awesome was last night’s Madonna ep of Glee? Amazing, right? Well … good news, based on the huge success that last night’s episode The Power of Madonna has garnered for the show, producers have announced that they are working on producing another Madonna ep to air early next season. Things are still in the planning stages but Madge is reportedly on board for the sequel ep … might she be willing to make a cameo on the show next time around?

Glee is heading back into the groove with Madonna. The afterglow from last night’s smashing (and highly rated) Madge-themed episode has barely dimmed and already series creator Ryan Murphy is talking to the Material Girl about a sequel! Murphy confirms that he’s in discussions with M’s camp and that “Madonna and her people are into it and want it to happen.” The follow-up would air early next season and feature six more songs from the pop icon’s immense catalog of hits. (There’s talk that fans might be able to vote on which tracks should be used via a poll on Fox.com.) The Glee-Madonna marriage has already reaped huge dividends for both the show and the star. Tuesday’s episode attracted a potent 13.5 million viewers, down just 5 percent from last week’s record-setting spring premiere. Additionally, the soundtrack from the ep is currently No. 1 on iTunes, and two of the singles are in the top 20.

None of this is surprising at all … TV networks really like to take a good idea and beat it into the ground, hoping that they will strike gold every time. I do think, tho, that Madonna is the kind of musician that has more than enough songs to feature in more than just the one ep. If they can get Maddy herself to appear in the episode then I am ALL for another Glee/Madonna episode. I really love the Glee versions of the Madonna songs that were featured last night … and I’m sure I’ll love the new songs that will eventually get produced, recorded and released next season. In case you missed it or just want to watch last night’s ep of Glee, you can do so after the jump …

Say hello to Bryan Ryan
First Look: Neil Patrick Harris On ‘Glee’

Back in January we learned the GREAT news that Neil Patrick Harris would be guest starring on an upcoming episode of Glee (directed by Joss Whedon, I’ll have you know) and today we get our first look at NPH as Bryan Ryan — former rival of everyone’s fave Glee club teacher Will Schuster (played by Matthew Morrison):

Neil Patrick Harris is headed to “Glee” … The “How I Met Your Mother” star is making a guest appearance on the hit FOX series as Bryan Ryan, a returning former rival of Matthew Morrison’s character Will Schuester. Neil will appear on the hit series on May 18 in an episode titled, “Dream On.” As previously reported … Molly Shannon and Olivia Newton-John will both join the “Glee” gang, as well as Kristin Chenoweth, who will reprise her role as April Rhodes. New additions this spring season also include Broadway stars Idina Menzel and Access Hollywood’s latest Rising Star, Jonathan Groff, who both premiered on the show this past Tuesday.

Lord, how is it possible that one TV show can keep getting awesomer? The world hasn’t even seen the epic Madonna episode yet (it airs this coming Tuesday night) and we’re already looking further ahead in the season at other epic episodes of Glee! Wanna see the first photo of NPH facing off against Morrison on Glee? Check it out after the jump …

"Heaven Help Me"

We are still 5 days away from the premiere of the Glee episode titled The Power of Madonna but right now we get to hear — IN FULL — the Glee cast performance of the Madonna hit song Like a Prayer:

First we got to see Sue Sylvester reenact the entire Vogue music video HERE and now we get to hear the Glee version of Like a Prayer … it’s, like, too much awesomeness to handle in one week. But The Power of Madonna episode will feature both of these songs AND 6 other songs (well, 7 songs if you count the Borderline/Open Your Heart medley as two different songs)!! Now, I’ve already watched the ep 3 times in full but I’m gonna hold off on watching it again until the episode airs on Tuesday. T-minus 5 days and counting … are you ready?

Photos From The ‘Glee’ Issue Of TV Guide Magazine

On Monday we got to see the Madonna-fied cast of Glee on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of TV Guide magazine and late last night we got to see an AMAZING music video of Glee‘s Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch) doing her best Vogue. Right now, we get to see some of the photos that are included in the Glee/Madonna issue of TV Guide which features the main ladies in the cast (and Matthew Morrison) rocking different Madonna looks:

Clearly, Vogue was a HUGE inspiration for the upcoming all Madonna song-ep of Glee which will air next Tuesday. But what other Madonna looks served as points of inspiration? Find out after the jump …

"Sue Sylvester, dance on air"

On Monday I teased a few screencaps from the upcoming episode of Glee titled The Power of Madonna and on Tuesday night, Fox aired the world premiere of Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch) performing in full a music video homage to Madonna‘s Vogue video. In case you missed it or just want to see it again, you can watch it in full right here, right now:

OMG … I love this so much. It is a perfect reproduction of the original video and just Glee enough to make it a bit more awesome. This has to be my fave musical performance of the entire Glee series thus far. You’ll have to wait until next week to see how this video fits into the episode storyline but, as I said before, you will not be disappointed. Is this not amazing? I LOOOOOVE IT! I hope you do, too :)

New eps return TONIGHT!
The Cast Of ‘Glee’ Attends A Spring Premiere Soirée

The day has finally come … TONIGHT on Fox, Glee returns with the first new episode of the Spring season and in celebration, the entire cast of Glee attended The Spring Premiere Soirée held for the show at Bar Marmont here in LA last night. Here are a few photos of some of the castmembers in attendance last night along with some deets about what we can look forward to seeing (and hearing) in the upcoming new eps:

In its first 13 episodes, the show treated viewers to covers of songs by Neil Diamond, Rihanna, Kanye West, Barbra Streisand, Beyonce, Queen, Liza Minnelli and more. The music from “Glee” is a huge success in its own right, with more than 4 million digital downloads sold and two soundtracks already certified gold. A nationwide tour, “Glee Live,” featuring key members from the show’s cast, kicks off in May and has sold out, and the show is boosting sales for the original artists behind the songs. Its stars are even featured on the current issue of Rolling Stone. When the hourlong hit returns Tuesday for a nine-episode run, expect twice the tunes per show and even more mash-ups and musical diversity. “Every single possible musical style and taste is going to be in there,” says “Glee” co-creator Brad Falchuk. “It doesn’t matter what you like – you’re going to find what you like and stuff you never heard of that you’ll love.” But the commercial success of the “Glee” songs wasn’t a reason for the boost, he says. Instead, he said the decision was made because the music greatly enriches the show by giving viewers an emotional understanding of what the characters are going through. Falchuk says he and fellow show creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan intentionally upped the number of songs to a minimum of five per episode for the balance of the first season (three to five had been the norm). Falchuk says Murphy, also creator of the cult TV hit “Nip/Tuck,” is the master behind the music: “He’s the iTunes library, the Rainman of music.” This season, the characters will express their joy and frustrations through the songs of best-selling acts like AC/DC, the Beatles, Lionel Richie, Olivia Newton John and Madonna. In fact, Madonna gets her own entire episode: a tribute to the Material Girl packed with 10 songs, seven of which appear on a separate soundtrack, “Glee: The Power of Madonna,” set for release April 20 … Producer Adam Anders arranges, records and mixes all the featured tracks sometimes as many as 10 a week. “I have eight studios going at all times on ‘Glee,’” says the 34-year-old, who counts Disney’s “High School Musical” and “Camp Rock” among his credits. “I have a partner in Sweden, and we basically get 27 hours out of a day because we have a nine-hour time change.” The pair works around the clock to craft the songs, usually a couple of weeks before each episode is shot. When the episode airs, they know immediately which songs are hits by simply clicking on iTunes. “As a songwriter or producer, you never get that kind of instant reaction,” Anders says. “It’s really cool.”

Yes, folks, and it all begins TONIGHT. Yesterday I posted a few teaser screencaps from next week’s episode The Power of Madonna that spoilerishly reveal the song that Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch) performs in that ep and I understand that after tonight’s new episode airs (titled Hell-O), Fox will air video of Sue‘s performance! YOU MUST TUNE IN TONIGHT, at all costs. I’m hoping to be able to share that video with all y’all after it airs … stay tuned! We are mere hours away from an all new ep of Glee … who’s excited?

Madge-ical
The Cast Of ‘Glee’ Does TV Guide Magazine

New episodes of Glee return tomorrow night with a new ep titled Hell-O (which some lucky folks in LA got to see in full over the weekend at a public premiere screening event that was held at The Grove outdoor shopping center on Saturday evening) and while we are surely excited for that event, we need to also get excited for next week’s new ep of Glee as well. As y’all might already know, next week’s ep is titled The Power of Madonna and will feature all Madonna songs (this particular episode will also come with its very own soundtrack). A few

Free for All
‘Glee’ Holds Its Spring Premiere LA

Yesterday afternoon a few castmembers on the hit Fox TV series Glee made an appearance at a free premiere event that was held at The Grove outdoor shopping center here in Los Angeles, CA. In celebration of the return of ALL NEW EPISODES of Glee, Fox decided to preview the first new ep of the series, titled Hell-O, for the public here in LA last night. Here are a few photos of some of the Glee stars who came out for the event:

If you were lucky enough to be in attendance last night, then you would’ve been able to get the jump start on the rest of the country that has to wait until this coming Tuesday night to see the all new episode. As I mentioned earlier this week, I’ve been very fortunate enough to be able to preview the 3 new eps of Glee that will air in the coming weeks … and I’m really excited for all y’all to see what I’ve seen … but it sounds like last night’s event was really fun. Make sure you’ll be in front of your TVs Tuesday night to watch Glee‘s return … it will prepare you for the AMAZING episode to follow next week titled The Power of Madonna (ie. the Madonna episode). This week’s new ep will be a very nice taste of what’s to come … Gleeks, you’re gonna LOVE it!!

The TV Guide
‘Glee’kin’ Out

I was very fortunate to receive a promo package from Fox this week that included a fun t-shirt and 3 new episodes of Glee, which returns from hiatus next Tuesday April 13:

The eps included are Hell-O (April 13), The Power of Madonna (April 20) and Home (April 27). I’ve been DYING to watch the Madonna ep (which will come with its own soundtrack in just a couple of weeks) so I watched the DVDs as soon as I could. OMG … people, the Madonna ep is THE best ep of Glee ever. I can’t really say much nor can I share any amazing screencaps just yet but — trust me — the Vogue performance is EPIC! That performance alone will become a viral hit of its own, you can count on that. I know there are many Gleeks out there anxious to see these new eps … I’m happy to report that they are deffo worth the wait.

No big plans for tonight … I’ve been running around all week, it’ll be nice to stay in and do nothing. Wee!
