Back in May we learned that Freddie Prinze, Jr. (who just became a new dad to baby girl Charlotte Grace with wifey and Buffyverse alum Sarah Michelle Gellar) would be joining the cast of 24 for their upcoming 8th season and in June we learned that Battlestar Gallatica album Katee Sackhoff would also be joining the cast. Last month we got our first look at a new trailer promoting season 8 of 24 which featured both FPJ and Katee along with another new castmember, Anil Kapoor (who starred as the douchey gameshow host in Slumdog Millionaire). Today, we get to check out 3 new promo photos of these new 24 castmembers in their roles on the show:

The first look of Katee Sackhoff on “24″ has been shared as some promotional photos that expose individual characters are released by FOX. The actress is a new addition to the CTU team, being placed as an analyst named Dana Walsh. The role is not only recurring but regular. Dana will work side by side with Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer. The character is described as “a highly respected and down-to-earth data analyst at the new and improved New York branch of CTU.” She reportedly will be entangled in a romantic relationship with field agent Davis Cole who is played by another new regular, Freddie Prinze Jr. The eighth season of “24″ will premiere on January 17, 2010. It will unfold in New York City amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. In this new day, CTU has been upgraded and is run by MBA-schooled and razor-sharp head honcho Brian Hastings.

I am SO loving these new castmembers … I cannot wait for 24 to debut next year. 24 remains one of my fave shows ever and I’ve been counting down the days ’til it hits the air again. Back in September we learned that Sarah Michelle Gellar and hubby Freddie Prinze, Jr. welcomed the birth of their first child — a baby girl they named Charlotte Grace. Today we get our FIRST LOOK at their precious babygirl as she makes her worldwide debut in the pages of People magazine:

Oh baby … look at that beautiful face! Isn’t she precious? Now, for some reason, People chose not to put their interview with SMG and hubby FPJ online … but in the mag, SMG reveals that she went into labor while she was at the gym! At first, she didn’t believe that she was actually going into labor and FPJ reveals that she initially thought the rumble in her belly was from the spicy dinner she ate the night before :) SMG confesses that she decided to get an epidural for her delivery and enjoyed a totally pain-free birth … FPJ adds that after 3 pushes, Charlotte Grace came into the world. The couple also reveal that the birth of their child has equalized them immensely … they are now so focused on taking care of their baby girl that all other frantic stuff in their lives is now normalized and, as a result, better handled. Amazing news to pass along … People magazine is reporting that Sarah Michelle Gellar gave birth to her baby LAST Saturday! As you may recall, I posted photos last Saturday of a heavily pregs SMG making her way to pilates class last Friday and I mentioned that she looked ready to pop at any moment … little did I know how right I was because she actually did pop last Saturday (one day after the most recent pics of SMG out and about in SoCal). SMG and hubby Freddie Prinze, Jr. welcomed the birth of a baby girl named Charlotte Grace!!!

Sarah Michelle Prinze and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. are parents, PEOPLE has learned exclusively. The couple “welcomed their daughter Charlotte Grace Prinze on Saturday, Sept. 19,” says a rep for the actress. “The family is over the moon.” This is the first child for the couple, who revealed that they were expecting back in April. Freddie Prinze Jr. will star on the upcoming season of 24. Sarah Michelle recently changed her last name from Gellar to Prinze.

OMG!!! A GIRL!!!! So many folks thought that SMG was carrying a baby boy but I kinda had a feeling in my gut that she was carrying a baby girl … a Chosen one … she who will RID THE WORLD OF THE SCOURGE OF VAMPIRES … okay, maybe notsomuch … but SMG and FPJ now have a baby girl of their own and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. Charlotte Grace is such a beautiful name. I cannot wait to see what the little darling looks like. It was very sneaky, sneaky of the proud new parents to go and have their baby without telling us right away … but I guess we can forgive them. Much love and many congrats goes out to Sarah Michelle and Freddie on the birth of little Charlotte Grace!! Woot!!

Here are a few cute photos of the happily pregs Sarah Michelle Gellar enjoying a nice night out on the town with her hubby Freddie Prinze, Jr. here in SoCal as the couple walked hand in hand last night. SMG and FPJ stepped out for a little date night together, which was very nice since we hadn’t seen the two of them out and about together for quite a few weeks. It’s nice that the pair took time out of their bizzy schedules for some alone time:

When last we saw SMG and the bump out and about, she was lunching and shopping with a friend in Santa Monica, CA earlier this week. FPJ has been MIA for some time now, presumably hard at work filming the new season of 24. As you may recall, we learned at the end of May that Freddie had signed on to appear alongside Jack Bauer and the gang on the upcoming 8th season. Altho they weren’t lookin’ too keen on smiling for the cameras, it’s nice to see them spend some time together. It won’t be long until we’re seeing pics of the couple pushing baby strollers around town ;)

More TV casting news from Entertainment Weekly‘s Michael Ausiello … who is reporting that 24 has signed up a new castmember to join the show. Freddie Prinze, Jr. (hubby to the amazing Sarah Michelle Gellar) is joining the cast next season as a member of the newly reinstated Counter Terrorist Unit on the show:

Altho this news is light on deets, allow me to wildly speculate for a minute. Kiefer Sutherland has said many times that there will come a time when Jack Bauer will have to die on the show. It is my understanding that producers are planning on introducing a young character to take the “Jack Bauer” position on the show if/when his death eventually comes. Could it be that FPJ is that character? A CTU Field Ops agent sounds like the perfect character to step into Bauer‘s shoes. Again, this is mere speculation on my part but … you never know. I am very happy that Freddie got this role … what, with a first baby on the way, any money coming in can only be a boon. I love me some 24 … I can’t wait to see FPJ‘s contribution to the show.

We’ve only just learned last month that Sarah Michelle Gellar is pregs with her first child with hubby Freddie Prinze, Jr. and now we’re already hearing reports of the sex of her baby. The always reliable (said in a sarcastic tone) Star magazine is reporting that SMG and FPJ are expecting a baby girl … information that was gleaned from sources on the NYC set of her new HBO series The Wonderful Maladys (which began filming this week) that claim to have overheard SMG talking about her impending baby girl and plans for her arrival:

Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar will be welcoming the arrival of a baby girl later this year. The couple recently announced that they are expecting their first child together after seven years of marriage. According to Star, 32-year-old Sarah, who is five months pregnant, has been overheard excitedly talking about her unborn daughter on the New York City set of her new HBO pilot, The Wonderful Mondays. “She’s been letting little details slip here and there,” says a set source. “She’s been spending her free time planning the nursery in their TriBeca apartment,” according to gossips. “Sarah wants the room to look sophisticated, so nothing too frilly or princessy. She’s been shopping for earth tones to mix with plum or magenta accents.”

As always, these reports have a 50% chance of being correct. If true, tho, I think it would be amazingly cute if SMG had a little girl of her own … “one girl in all the world, a chosen one. She alone will wield the strength and skill to fight the vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness; to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their numbers. She is the Slayer.” Yeah, wouldn’t that be rad? Well, even if the little darling doesn’t grow up to slay vampires and demons, I bet she’d be supercute anyways. I, for one, am hoping that SMG and FPJ really are expecting a baby girl … can you imagine the adorableness of the playdates with little Satyana — first born (and truly Buffyverse blessed) child of Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof? Squee!!!!

Yesterday we got our first look at Sarah Michelle Gellar making the first steps towards her long-awaited return to TV as she began filming new scenes for her new HBO series The Wonderful Maladys. Today we get to see a few more pics from the Maladys set, where Freddie Prinze, Jr. (SMG‘s hubby of 6 years) stopped by for a quick visit with his wife:

I have to admit … it’s gonna be hella weird to see SMG on TV again and not think of her iconic role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Just this week I watched a rerun of the Sex and the City ep where Carrie Bradshaw and the girls went to LA to see about turning her column into a movie. SMG played an overwrought and annoying assistant on the ep … and all I saw was an overwrought and annoyed Buffy. You’d think that all these years after the series ended, I’d be over that already. Perhaps this new HBO series will be just the thing to allow me to see her in a different light. It was sweet of FPJ to swing by the set to say hello … it’s clear that he loves taking care of his wife. These two are going to make great parents. I can’t wait until they bring forth the fruit of their loins cuz it’s been a long time coming. And the Bump Watch! continues.

Not content to let Alyson Hannigan give birth to the only Buffyverse baby on the block, Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself Sarah Michelle Gellar had to go and get pregs with a baby of her own. People magazine is reporting the very exciting and joyous news that SMG and her husband of 6 years Freddie Prinze, Jr. are expecting the birth of their first child this Fall:

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are expecting their first child together, a source close to the couple confirms exclusively to PEOPLE. “They’re very excited,” says the source, adding that the actress, 31, is due in the fall. Gellar, who has been married to Prinze, 33, for six years, will next shoot the HBO pilot The Wonderful Maladays, for which she serves as an executive producer. Prinze recently shot the comedy pilot No Heroics for ABC.

While this is absolutely amazing news (which I finally got to hear as soon as I landed in Philly last night on my way to Connecticut — and immediately posted on my Twitter account), I suppose this puts the kibosh on that rumor that SMG had finally decided to do a big screen BtVS movie this year. Ah well … this is much better news. I am absolutely thrilled that SMG and FPJ are expanding their family in this way … I’m sure they are very excited. Tho, it should be noted that while Buffy herself is finally giving birth, it was Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof (both Buffyverse alums) who already birthed the one true Buffyverse baby ;) SMG and FPJ can give birth to the world’s first Scooby Doo baby, tho!
