Joe Jackson Insists The Late Michael Jackson Is ‘Worth More Dead Than Alive’

But claims he'd "rather have him alive"
Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Now that the new documentary/concert film Michael Jackson’s This Is It has been released in movie theaters, Jackson patriarch Joesph is back on TV talking to any and everyone about his deceased son. In a new interview with Extra! TV scheduled to air later on today, Joe very lovingly explains that his late son is worth more money now that he is dead than when he was alive. He does go on to clarify that he would rather his son be alive but there is an insincerely in his tone that, to me, belies that sentiment. Here is a pic of Joe’s appearance on Extra! and some excerpts from his interview:

Joe Jackson says that Michael is making a bigger impact than ever since his June death from an apparent drug overdose. “He’s worth more dead than when he was alive,” Joe, 80, tells “Extra” in an interview that airs Thursday night. “I’d rather have him alive.” As Michael’s movie “This Is It” rakes in $2.2 million in the box office, Joe adds, “When he was living, they didn’t show this.” Joe admits he wasn’t on board with the flick at first, which documents Michael rehearsing for his comeback tour of the same name. “I didn’t know what ‘This Is It’ meant,” says Joe, who spoke to “Extra” in Las Vegas at the unveiling of a celebrity star honoring him and his famous family. But the movie allows him to remember Michael “as I knew him best: performing and dancing on stage. Entertaining people,” he says. Hearing Michael’s songs make Joe “very emotional,” he admits. He sometimes sheds tears “when I’m off to myself and I start thinking about things that we went through,” he says. “No one will ever see me, though.” He has harsher feelings for his son’s doctor, Conrad Murray, who is currently under investigation on manslaughter charges. Joe says if he saw Murray, he’d “knock him out.”

It’s very difficult for me to stomach the caring, nurturing sentiments presented by Joe Jackson here considering the way he has been described by others, particularly Michael Jackson himself. In the end, tho, no matter how horrible Joseph may have been to his children (and I have *NO DOUBT* that he was a horrible father to his children) … he is still a father and I have to believe that some part of him truly does feel sympathetic love for his children. That’s not to say that he didn’t exploit and use them at every opportunity for his own financial gain but the man is human after all … there has to be some love in there somewhere. It really does gross me out to hear him speak so “lovingly” about his late son … while I believe that he may have some heartfelt feelings for MJ, it’s really hard to believe his sincerity when he is so willing to express those feelings for a fee on national television. Ugh.

Behind The Scenes Of The ‘Saved By The Bell’ Reunion

"Well, I wake up in the morning and the alarm gives out a warning ..."
Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Extra! TV was on the set of the People magazine photoshoot of the Saved By The Bell reunion which graces the cover of this week’s issue of the mag. Extra! host Mario Lopez was in a prime position to interview his former SBTB castmates during the shoot and came away with some fun video. Here is a photo from this week’s issue of People magazine which features the reunited SBTB kids which, according to Lopez, was over a year in the making and came together at the very last second:

It’s a reunion 20 years in the making … and a story that took over a year in planning. When the cast of Saved by the Bell assembled for this week’s PEOPLE photo shoot and cover story, everyone breathed a sigh of relief-including Mario Lopez, who nearly missed the whole thing. “Everybody knew the 20-year anniversary was coming up,” says Lopez. “This PEOPLE story has been in the works for over a year, long before [late night host] Jimmy Fallon started talking about it. We were all excited about it.” But Lopez’s work ethic almost prevented the reunion from coming to fruition. “I’m so busy. I was concerned about my schedule,” says Lopez, who in the past year alone has danced on Broadway in A Chorus Line, become the new host of TV’s Extra and written a fitness book, Mario Lopez’s Knockout Fitness. The night before the PEOPLE shoot in Los Angeles he was making a public appearance in Canada, across the country, and arrived on set straight from the airport after a seven-hour flight. And now? Fans are clamoring for the next step: a reunion show. “Everybody is fired up,” he says. “People keep coming up to me saying ‘When are you guys going to do a show?’” An actual reunion episode will have to wait, as Lopez is hardly taking time off. First up, he’s returning as host for the fourth season of America’s Best Dance Crew, which debuts this Sunday on MTV.

I LOVE how Mario Lopez made SURE to make clear that the People magazine reunion was “in the works” before Jimmy Fallon started talking about it on his TV show. I find it very hard to believe that it took People magazine a year to get everyone together for a photoshoot. I call B.S. But … that’s his story, I guess he’s stickin’ to it. After the jump, check out video from Extra! TV that was shot on the set of this People magazine photoshoot …

Heidi Montag Maintains She Felt ‘Persecuted’ On The Today Show

"I'm going to pray for [Al Roker]. I think the devil got a hold of him."
Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, newly returned from the jungle of Costa Rica after they failed to successfully endure a stint on the NBC competitive reality TV show I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!, spent all of yesterday making the rounds in NYC appearing on various TV talk shows to talk about their behavior on the NBC show. Their day started with an appearance on The Today Show where the couple were interviewed on live television by Al Roker. Roker, clearly not a fan of Speidi, grilled them on the behavior they exhibited on I’m a Celebrity and seemed to enjoy making the couple squirm on national TV. Heidi Montag says that she felt “persecuted” by Roker and spent much of the rest of the day giving interviews to that effect. The couple paid a visit to the Extra! TV studios and talked about their appearance on The Today Show:

After surviving in the jungle (and Four Seasons) in Costa Rica, Speidi flew to New York to talk to Al Roker on the “Today Show” — and now they say Al went on the offense! During their interview, Roker asked the “Hills” duo about their stint on “I’m a Celebrity,” and at one point told Spencer that people think he’s a jerk, and quizzed Heidi hardball style. “The guy was a bully — nobody has ever verbally berated my wife like that,” Spencer tells “Extra.” “He got very aggressive with me,” Heidi chimed in. Mrs. Pratt tells “Extra” that she was literally driven to tears by Al’s questioning about the drama on “Celebrity,” saying, “I felt like I was being persecuted.” Heidi adds, “Women should know… he’s not just gonna be, you know, normal and courteous to you.” Spencer admits that he was so upset that he almost threw a punch! “I was like, ‘this guy’s about to get hit.’ My heart was just pounding, ‘be good Spencer, don’t hit him in the face.’” After the interview, Roker wrote on his Twitter, “Heidi and Spencer are an interesting couple. famous for… being infamous. Bad and vacuous behavior. I think we’re at minute 11 of their 15.” Spencer replies, “Congratulations, you get to be talked about for a day. Must be cool.” Heidi adds, “I’m gonna pray for him ’cause I feel like the devil really got a hold of him.”

LMAO!! When Speidi have reached the level where they get into public feuds with someone like Al Roker … you know they’ve made it! But, lest you think that the dynamic duo spent all of their time talking about Roker, they did talk about other issues — like Spencer’s plan to become President of the United States of America:

“When I’m in the White House as the President of the Unite States, this beautiful amazing, county then I’ll be like, ‘Okay, I’ve done what I’ve dreamt my whole life to be.’ That was the game plan to become the most famous person on the planet, so when I’m campaigning, people will know who I am. No one knew who Obama was and now he’s the President. Just imagine what I’m capable of….I plan to be the President of the United States in the next 20 years.”

As well as plans for the couple to launch their own record label:

“Ready for this. Exclusive. Heidi and Spencer are about to sign….our own distribution deal for each of our records through Warner Music Group. Heidi and Spencer. Speidi have their own record label now with distribution through Warner Music, so we’re both going to put out albums…”

Lord have mercy, heaven help us all. I think I’m more interested in going back to that Al Roker interview. In case you missed it (or just want to see it again), you can see the full Speidi interview on The Today Show to see what all the hub-bub is about …

Tori Spelling Is Still ‘Hoping’ To Return to ‘90210’

Don't count her out just yet
Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

HMMMMMM … so Monday there was a lot of hubbub going around concerning the news that Tori Spelling decided to pull out of appearing on The CW’s Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off show because, it was reported, she was not being paid as much as the other BH, 90210 alums Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty were being paid. Then yesterday we heard from both Jennie and Shannen about the “controversy”Jennie saying she was “bummed” that Tori pulled out, Shannen just happy anyone asked her for comment. AND NOW TODAY, we learn that Extra TV talked to Tori Spelling herself about all of this 90210 hoopla and she is making it seem as if her return to the show isn’t as dire as we were led to believe … she, apparently, still hopes to make an appearance on the show “later in the season”:

Even though Donna Martin aka Tori Spelling isn’t in the 90210 spin-off premiere, it’s still possible that she could return to West Beverly High School. Despite recent reports that Spelling is no longer in talks at this time to appear in the series, two weeks ago Spelling told “Extra” that, “I was supposed to be in the pilot and then I had Stella [daughter] when they went back into production so it didn’t work out, but I’m hoping [to return] later in the season.”

Waitaminute … depending on when this interview took place and when Tori decided to “pull out” of the show, it’s not entirely clear what is going on. It still feels to me that all of the off-screen drama is meant to generate further hype for the new 90210. Again, I maintain that Tori Spelling will eventually reprise her role as Donna Martin on the new show. My money says it’s gonna happen … some way, some how. Any takers?

Speidi Shoot Down Rumors

Claim they don't <3 guns but they do <3 McCain
Monday, July 21st, 2008

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt sat down with Extra TV to explain those photos that came out recently that showed the couple armed with guns at a shooting range. Additionally, the couple talk about Heidi’s clothing line Heidiwood and their involvement with the McCain family. It’s all you’ve ever wanted to know about Speidi (or, mebbe not) in one fell swoop:

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt on “Extra” reacting to controversy over a recent photo featuring the duo on a gun range. Pratt comments, “We went once, it’s not like we’re rolling around with guns … guns are not a toy. We don’t promote guns.” He continues, “We were under supervision of three trained professionals.” Montag, whose stepbrother was killed in the Iraq War, is planning a trip to perform for American troops stationed in the Middle East. She says, “My brother was an airborne ranger in Afghanistan and Iraq. It’s very important to me and important to Spencer to support the troops and go over there.” Montag reveals details about her budding friendship with presidential hopeful Senator John McCain’s daughter, Meghan, commenting, “She’s very sweet. We have a lot in common.” Pratt adds, “I think Meghan McCain is helping organize Heidi and our Iraq trip. Her dad definitely has some pull with the military. I think she’s going to put that together for us.” The reality television couple viewers love to hate spill details about their upcoming videogame, Pratt says, “We’re eventually going to have our videogame that UBI-Soft is going to design for us sold at Kitson … it’s top secret … get ready. All your wildest dreams are going to be in it.” Asked about her clothing line, Heidiwood, Montag declares, “It’s selling really well. It’s one of the #1 selling celebrity clothing lines.” Montag and Pratt are one of Hollywood’s only couples who admit they “love the paparazzi.” Pratt declares, “You know it’s a business, they are helping promote us … they are hard working.” Montag adds, “Everyone always complains about them. At the end of the day, why are you in the entertainment business if you don’t embrace that part of it?” Asked about rumors the couple plans to wed on the Season 4 finale of The Hills, Pratt jokes, “We’re not planning on having LC narrate our wedding.” In response to whether fellow Hills stars, Lauren and Audrina, are friends this week, Montag laughs, “I don’t really know … what are their names?”

Love them or hate them — Heidi and Spencer really know how to make a splash and make the most out of every opportunity available to them. They’re 100% right about having to deal with the paparazzi … of course it’s a business and, I totally agree, if you don’t like the attention from the photogs then you prolly shouldn’t be in the Entertainment field. While I don’t agree with their political associations, I do find them extremely entertaining. They push so many buttons … people get so riled up by the mere mention of their names — clearly, they are doing something right. I’m looking forward to this trip to Iraq that they mention … I can’t wait to see the pics that will follow. The video game and Christian album, I think I’ll pass on … but that’s the good thing about Speidi — if you don’t like one thing they’re associated with, wait for about 10 mins. and something else will come along.
