The 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards are about to get really Desperate this year … because Desperate Housewives star and “global style icon” Eva Longoria has been tapped to play host to the annual MTV awards show. Here is our first look at the promo image released by the MTV EMAs of this year’s host Eva Longoria:
Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker has been announced as the host of this year’s MTV European Music Awards. The actress said she was “beyond excited” about presenting the ceremony in Madrid next month. Kings of Leon, Ke$ha and Kid Rock have been added to the line-up, which also includes Katy Perry and Linkin Park. Perry, who hosted the show in 2008 and 2009, has tied with Lady Gaga for the most nominations, with a total of five. The singers will go head to head in four of the five categories they have been nominated in, including best pop, best female, best song and best video. Eminem has received four nods, while rock bands 30 Seconds to Mars and Muse have bagged three nominations apiece. R&B star Usher has also picked up three nods in the best pop, male and song categories … Other British acts to receive nominations include X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and Professor Green – both of whom are up for Push Act – and Gorillaz who are also in the running in the world stage performance and alternative categories.
As you may recall, American comedienne Chelsea Handler played host to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards here in the US last month so it would seem that the EMAs is lookin’ to infuse some of that Americanness into their party as well. Something tells me that the EMAs audience will be a bit more kind to Eva than the US critics were to Chelsea. I really love that the EMAs take place in a different European city each year … and this year the fete will be in Madrid, Spain. Who will walk away with the most EMAs this year? We’ll have to wait until November 7th to find out. What do y’all think … will Eva Longoria make a good awards show host?
