Last month we learned that British actor Henry Cavill won the role of Clark Kent/Superman in the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed Superman reboot film. Today we get our first look at Cavill on the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. This issue of EW features the first interview with Cavill since it was announced that he won the role but it also devotes much coverage to the plethora of other superhero films that are coming our way.

Earlier today we learned the THRILLING news that my man Trent Reznor garnered an Academy Award nomination, along with collaborator Atticus Ross, for his work scoring the film The Social Network. Right now we get to hear from T Rez himself about how it feels to be an Oscar nominee in new comments he made to Entertainment Weekly magazine.

Without question gay visibility has gone up considerably on US television in the past 10 years and nowhere is that fact more apparent than on the extremely gay-friendly song and dance teen series Glee on Fox. Glee‘s main gay characters, Kurt and Blaine (played by actors Chris Colfer and Darren Criss), are featured on the cover and in the pages of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine as the coverboys for the magazine’s report titled Gay Teens on TV.

Early last month we learned that a major character in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe was killed off in issue #39 of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 comic book series and this month, season 8 will come to an end with the release of issue #40. Buffy creator Joss Whedon talks to Entertainment Weekly about the end of season 8 and what we can expect in season 9 (which Whedon promises will be more like the TV series). Johnny Depp, dressed in character as Captain Jack Sparrow, is featured on the cover and in the pages of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine … which this week is devoted to the 2011 preview of movies, television, music, books and more. Considering that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is among the most-anticipated films of the year, it makes total sense that Depp as Sparrow would be this issues coverstar.

Entertainment Weekly magazine has just released a new interview they did with Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails, How to Destroy Angels) about his recently announced Golden Globe award nomination for the score he composed with collaborator Atticus Ross for the film The Social Network. At the tail end of the interview, Reznor confirms publicly for the first time that he is a new father … news that, I’m sure, will come as a very happy surprise to many of his loyal fans.

WOOOOOOOOT!!! The news that we have been anxiously awaiting to hear is FINALLY upon us!! The new issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine confirms that the first single from Britney‘s new album (due out in March) will be released NEXT WEEK! Earlier this month we heard a rumor that the single, Hold It Against Me, will be released in January … and now we know FOR SURE it’ll be released on Friday January 7.

On Thursday we learned that Taylor Swift, who is apparently new BFFs with the entire Gyllenhaal family these days, was named by Entertainment Weekly as the 2010 Entertainer of the Year. But, EW has named 15 other (lesser?) Entertainers of the Year as well … including Jane Lynch and the cast of Glee as a collective whole:

Team Glee With nearly 13 million viewers weekly in its second season, chart-topping albums, a sold-out tour, and 19 Emmy nominations, even Glee’s co-creator Ryan Murphy has to admit that the show ”is huge. The thing that is crazy for me is the appetite for it internationally has become big as well.” So much so that the cast will stage its blockbuster tour next summer in London, Manchester, and Dublin.
