Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, of Real Madrid, will be the next footballer to model underwear for Emporio Armani, in their spring-summer 2010 collection, replacing AC Milan and England footballer David Beckham, Italian sports daily La Gazetta dello Sport announced on Friday. Originally, Armani chose “Shevchenko, then Kaká, both alluring, both footballers, both Milan players – and both fully dressed,” said the paper. When it came to modelling its line of underwear, Armani went for Beckham, on loan to Milan since 2008 and “the most beautiful of them all,” who posed nude, apart from a pair of the Italian fashion house’s boxers. He was also joined by his wife Victoria: both “very sensual,” says the daily. On Friday, the “most beautiful” was traded in for “another delight with the ball,” Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid’s 24-year-old star, the most expensive signing in history and “the most sought after man on the planet” of which his “repeated conquests and chronicles of his steamy nights” are proof, it surmises, The news, which was leaked by sources from both the football and fashion worlds, has still not been made official. According to La Gazzeta, Ronaldo will feature on advertising billboards for Armani’s younger clothes section in all of Europe’s major cities as of February next year. The advertising campaign will most likely take place in Milan, it adds, stressing that this is the first time Giorgio Armani has chosen a footballer that doesn’t play for AC. “This time it’s the turn of the international media’s favourite footballer; one that plays for Real Madrid, drinks champagne with Paris Hilton in Los Angeles and sails his boat around the Mediterranean,” concludes La Gazzeta.

Firstly, let me say that I think it’s foolish of Armani to NOT offer David Beckham a new contract to appear in another year of underwear ads. Yes, it makes sense to switch up models with each new year but Beckham helped Armani reach new heights in underwear sales. If you also consider that with Becks comes his wifey Victoria Beckham in her own underwear ads … it just makes sense. That being said, if they had to replace Becks with anyone it is very smart that they went with another high profile footballer. Cristiano Ronaldo has always struck me as David Beckham, Jr. (but with a crispier tan) so he would be the most natural heir to this campaign. I’m very curious to see what Ronaldo’s Armani underwear ads will look like. Will his bulge measure up … in sales? I guess we will soon find out.

These photos were shot by famed fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in Milan, Italy earlier this year. As some of you may recall, this isn’t the first time Les Beckhams have teamed up to promote Armani Underwear. The couple featured in their first Armani Underwear ad together back in January of this year. I really like these photos … but my preference has to be the first photo … I’m thinking the appeal comes from all the leg spreading that is going on. Oh yeah … whatever Becks is sellin’ in these new campaign ads … I’m buyin’! ;)

David Beckham’s got some fine muscles, and he wants the whole world to know it. Which could explain why a six-storey high advert of his chiselled torso was seen gracing the facade of Selfridge’s flagship London store. The celebrated footballer, 34, was on hand to see the unveiling of his impressive new advert for Emporio Armani at the popular store in London today. And his wife Victoria, 35, approved too, as she gave him a kiss upon her arrival at the launch. Although he looked less than enamoured, looking over Victoria’s head as she puckered up. Hundreds of people turned up to see Beckham at the launch of the new Armani advert which caused a similar store to the unveiling of the first advert at San Francisco’s Macy’s store last year. And in the hot new ad, David’s torso looks extra chiselled as he seductively lounges back on a huge rope. Last year Beckham signed a £20 million deal to become the new global ambassador of fashion house Giorgio Armani. The AC Milan star is under contract to front an underwear campaign in a series of billboard and fashion magazine adverts. The three-year deal, in which Beckham will receive an annual fee plus royalties, is unprecedented for any sportsman and will cement his status as the world’s best paid footballer.

Yummo!! Lookin’ good, Becks! I’m surprised how much I like seeing him with the slicked hair’do … it’s a nice look on him, I think. Yes, I realize that it’s difficult to focus on much of anything when he’s just standing there in his undies but — yes, I noticed. As you may recall, earlier this year we got to see a few new Armani Underwear ads from Becksie poo … here’s hoping that this new photo will be accompanied by at least a couple other photos. After causing a worldwide sensation with his debut set of ads for Emporio Armani’s underwear line, David Beckham is gracing us once again for the line’s spring campaign. Wife Victoria is also starring in her own moody black-and-white ads for the Italian brand that echo David’s images. We can’t imagine a better husband-and-wife duo for this particular modeling gig. Is it just us or is it getting hot in here?

MWOARRRRRRRR! I am telling you, I will never tire of seeing this man in his underwear. Holy Jebus, he looks good in his smalls, don’t he? This new Armani Underwear ad campaign looks … noice, really noice. Ye gods, he is one fit mothereffer. I sincerely hope there is more where this came from. At the very least, I hope we get to see these new photos in high res very soon … and on billboards around the globe. Le sigh. These pics are hawt. Opinions? Comments? Dirty thoughts?

First they conquered England and America, now the Beckhams have made it big in Italy thanks to the unveiling of a giant billboard in central Milan today. David and Victoria have peeled off for yet another Armani advertisement, which for the first time features the couple together in a intimate bedroom scene. The latest smouldering image, in which the football star is seen lying across a bed in just his briefs while Posh sits beside him in lacy lingerie, is part of a lucrative deal which worth an estimated £32 million in total. The couple, who are parents to Brooklyn, 9, Romeo, 6, and Cruz, 3, are promoting underwear from the spring/summer collection for the Italian label. The image is part of a series of shots, largely featuring a solo Victoria, taken by celebrated fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Similar advertisements are expected to be rolled out across New York, LA, London, Rome, Paris and Tokyo.

Dang … this is brills. To be honest, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, I hadn’t anticipated that the couple might appear together in a single Armani Underwear ad. I thought for sure that VB would be featured in a full campaign on her own and that Becks *might* appear in another full campaign … but it never occurred to me that they’d team up together. The ad itself is kinda OK … I’d prefer if Becks were laying on his back but I don’t mind the booty shot. Poor Vicki B. looks like she got kicked out of bed ;) I hope this isn’t the last that we’ll see of Becks in his undies … even if VB has to be included, I’ll take what I can get. As far as impersonations go, it is worthy of a gold medal. With his finely honed physique and effortless smoulder, Mark Foster’s attempt to recreate David Beckham’s notorious Armani advert is virtually flawless. And save for the odd grey hair, his likeness is all the more remarkable given he is approaching his 40th birthday. However, there does appear to be one particular area in which the swimmer fails to measure up to the England footballer. While Mr Beckham showed off a suspiciously large bulge in his own pictures, the 6ft 5in Olympian falls slightly short in that department. Either way, both sportsmen appear to have made use of some rather strategic padding during their respective photoshoots. Explaining his decision to strip down, Foster said: “I’m so used to swimming in a pair of trunks and being in next to nothing anyway, stripping to a pair of underpants isn’t a major issue for me. But I don’t see myself as a heartthrob – I’m just me.” The 38-year-old competed in his fifth Olympics in Beijing this summer although failed to win a medal after tumbling out in the early stages of the competition. However, he is currently appearing on Strictly Come Dancing where he is one of the favourites to win the competition with partner Hayley Holt. And while he has never spoken openly about his love-life he says of his most appealing qualities: “I can cook. Even though I went out on the first round of Masterchef, I can cook. I find cooking very therapeutic. I’m also very good at doing as I’m told. I’m pretty tidy, and by the end of this I’ll know my way around a dancefloor.” Whispers began to circulate after a giant 100ft high poster of Beckham was unveiled outside a San Francisco department store in June. Fans could not help noticing that he appeared more well proportioned than he did when pictured in a pair of skimpy trunks while on holiday in Italy two years ago.

DAVID BECKHAM does NOT have a sock or any other padding down his pants in those Armani adverts. Previously we only had wife VICTORIA’S word for it – but now a fellow LA clubber has lifted the lid after sharing a loo with the England star. Australian DJ KYLE SANDILANDS told listeners to his show: “I was in the toilet at Villa nightclub in LA and there’s only two urinals in there, it’s very small. Somebody comes in behind me, and I hear a soft voice say ‘Hello, how are you?’ I turned around and think: ‘Holy shit! It’s David Beckham!’ I’m midway through and I think, I’ve got to slow this down. I couldn’t help myself, for the first time in my life, I glanced down to the left and had a look.” Asked whether Becks was a big boy, Kyle replied: “There’s two types of penis. There’s the one that’s the same size all the time and the other one changes in size. Let’s just say he looks like he’s got it going on whether it’s happy or not.”

Interesting bit of intel but … sorry, I still would need either A.) photographic evidence or B.) an in-person inspection to be totally convinced. It would be a tough job, but I think I could manage either option in order to be 100% sure. Yes?
