One ‘Elle’ Of An Evening

Last night, David and I were graciously invited by our good friend Joe Zee to attend Elle magazine’s Women In Music concert event at the Music Box in Hollywood to see live performances by Theophilus London, Solange Knowles and Robyn! Because David didn’t get a chance to see Robyn last Friday night and because we really wanted to see Joe, we decided to check out the event …. and we had a blast! Check out some photos and video from last night’s fun below.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson, who will be featured in the non-Twilight film Water for Elephants in a few weeks, is featured in the new issue of Elle magazine. You may recall that the new issue of Elle is devoted to Women in Music but apparently there’s a bit of room in this issue for men in film. The 25th Anniversary Issue
Megan Fox, Gabourey Sidibe, Amanda Seyfried & Lauren Conrad Do ‘Elle’ Magazine

Elle magazine is celebrating its 25th anniversary with its October Issue and they have decided to put Megan Fox, Gabourey Sidibe, Amanda Seyfried and Lauren LC Conrad each on the cover of their very own issues of this special anniversary edition. Here is our first look at Megan and Gabourey‘s Elle coverphotos along with quotes from each from their coverstory interviews:

Megan FoxOn being married: “When I talk about my husband [Brian Austin Green], I feel as if people roll their eyes. It’s like when you’re 16 and order a martini, and the waiter says, ‘Do you think I’m stupid?’ They can’t grasp that I’m old enough to be married.”

Gabourey SidibeOn celebrating her twenty-fifth birthday: “Part of me thought it would be weird if people knew I was a grown-up playing a teenager in Precious. So I had a twenty-first-birthday party. We had drinks and went to a strip club called Shotgun Willie’s.”

I love this idea! Elle always comes up with fun ways to celebrate their magazine, putting 4 different girls on 4 different covers is a great idea. After the jump, check out the coverphotos that feature Amanda Seyfriend and Lauren LC Conrad

“I don’t want to be vain or fearful ... But if I want to do something, I will."
Drew Barrymore Does ‘Elle’ Magazine

Drew Barrymore, who was rumored to be engaged to off-again on-again beau Justin Long but has since broken up with, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Elle magazine. In her coverstory interview, Drew reveals that altho she has yet found the need to go under the knife, she is not opposed to the idea of plastic surgery. Here is our first look at Drew’s new Elle cover and some excerpts from her coverstory interview:

On taking stock of where she is now: “For three years straight, I’ve been burning the candle at both ends, and as of last December, I just didn’t have anything left. I’ve been so aggressive about living life to the fullest and being plugged into everything, but now I’ve ripped the plug out of the wall and put it on the floor for a while. I’m thinking about the same things as when I was 15, about spirituality and who I am, who I want to be. It’s cocoon, pupa, larva, and fuck, I’m reborn!”

On the media’s misconceptions of her: “I make movies. I have a passion. Puppies and daisies don’t accomplish anything. That’s not me at all.”

On being single: “If you’re 35 and single and it’s a choice, it feels fine. So I didn’t settle with the wrong person yet. Big deal!”

On her upcoming role in Going the Distance: “I like that it’s not a traditional romantic comedy, with the story line of, ‘Oh, I slept with this guy, but when I woke up, I found out he’s the CEO of my company, and we’re going to live happily ever after once we go through all these crazy perils. I talk shit with my girlfriends. And it can get dirty.”

On why she’s not afraid to get older: “I don’t want to be vain or fearful, and I don’t think I’ll do anything [in terms of plastic surgery], but if I want to do something, I will. From my perspective, there’s no reason to be afraid of aging, because if you age, you’re lucky! The alternative is death.”

On child stardom: “I was raised in unique and trying environments, but they were also amazing platforms for me to have an extraordinary life. Going through hell as a kid made me sensitive to what others in this world go through too.”

I love that Drew keeps it real. While I am bummed that she and Justin are off-again, there’s always the chance for them to get back together. And she is right, being 35 and single is completely normal. I have every confidence that she will find the right guy … when the right guy comes along. After the jump, check out a photo from Drew‘s Elle photospread …

"Every woman has that strength that is undeniable ... It’s just us."
Rihanna Does ‘Elle’ Magazine

Rihanna, who is currently touring the world with her Last Girl on Earth World Tour, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Elle magazine. In her coverstory article, our girl Ri Ri talks about her latest album Rated R, her current boyfriend Matt Kemp (of the LA Dodgers) and all the drama she endured over the last year. Here is our first look at Rihanna‘s Elle magazine cover and some excerpts from her coverstory interview:

On the album art for Rated R: “I wanted pictures that represented strength and fearlessness but still femininity—a strong woman who can be vulnerable. Every woman is made up of vulnerability and strength; no matter what race you are, no matter what you’ve been through in your life. Every woman has that strength that is undeniable, but we also have really big hearts. It’s just us.”

On her new beau: “I have a boyfriend. I’m so happy. I feel really comfortable, and it’s so easy. I have such a chaotic life, but at the end of the day, that is just my peace. It keeps me sane, really, talking to him and talking to my family.”

On turning her dream of popstardom into reality: “If I were in Barbados still, I would be dreaming about this. I asked for it, and I love it, so why am I complaining? My first day on tour, I remember saying ‘I’m so tired—this is so much.’ Then I thought, What the fuck? You asked for this—you prayed to God to tour like Madonna.”

On designers she admires: “It’s clear there are definitely fewer black women in the high-fashion industry. One of the things I respected most about Gucci was that they did a print campaign with me. I’m a black girl on a fashion spread for Gucci—that was a big deal. I respect designers who aren’t afraid to go outside the box. I went to a Jean Paul Gaultier show, and I saw girls who are thicker than me, beautiful and voluptuous and different ethnicities. That made me so excited. I thought, Okay, I can work that, for sure.”

On the past year: “A year ago, I was very confused. Because he was my best friend. All of a sudden, one night changed our whole lives—not only our friendship, but our lives. I wanted to wake up one day and just not have that pain anymore. I wanted to be with him again or get over him—it was either-or. I just didn’t want to feel the pain, the confusion.”

I gotta say, I really love that Rihanna is wearing LA Lakers colors on the cover of this magazine (who, I might add, defeated the Boston Celtics in game 3 of the NBA Finals taking a 2 games to 1 lead in the series). She looks great, she sounds great and I’m just loving her so much right now. I am SO excited to see her live on stage next month here in LA, I can’t even tell you. After the jump, check out a couple images from Rihanna‘s Elle magazine photospread …

"People say that I’m miserable all the time."
Kristen Stewart Does ‘Elle’ Magazine

Kirsten Stewart, who will return to the big screen next month as Bella Swan in the sequel film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Elle magazine. In her coverstory interview, K. Stew addresses her perceived “miserableness” and explains what her intense fame has done to her life. Here is our first look at Kristen on the cover of Elle along with some excerpts from her accompanying coverstory interview:

On the madness that has become her life: “It’s insane! Once somebody finds out, you have to get the hell out of wherever you are. People freak out. And the photographers, they’re vicious. They’re mean. They’re like thugs. I don’t event want to drive around by myself anymore. It’s fucking dangerous.”

On her loss of privacy: “Somebody knocked on my hotel room door and asked for a light, then said that they were a big fan. I was like, ‘Do you really need me to light your cigarette? How do you know what room I’m in?’ I can’t be by myself and I like being by myself.”

On criticism of her public manner: “I think it’s funny that when I go onstage to accept an award, they think I’m nervous, uncomfortable, and awkward—and I am—but those are bad words for them.”

On her red-carpet demeanor: “People say that I’m miserable all the time. It’s not that I’m miserable, it’s just that somebody’s yelling at me…I literally, sometimes, have to keep myself from crying…It’s a physical reaction to the energy that’s thrown at you.”

On caring: “I hate it when they say I don’t give a shit, because nobody cares more than I do. I’m telling you I don’t know anybody who does this that gives a shit more than I do.”

Well, at least she’s got a good answer for all the questions about her demeanor. I believe she is being truthful, for the most part, but I’ve seen her lookin’ way too jittery for it all to be just nerves. Whatever the case may be, she has reached a level of fame which makes her every move subject for water-cooler fodder. It ain’t easy being a famous celeb, y’all. After the jump, check out a few photos from Kristen‘s Elle photospread and find out if she gives her allegiance to Team Edward or Team Jacob

Kylie Dearest
Kylie Minogue Is Not A Fan Of Wire Hangers

On Tuesday we got our first look at Kylie Minogue on the cover of the new issue of British Elle magazine and today we learn from her coverstory interview that Ms. Minogue has strange yet strong dislike for clothes hangers … so much so that she refuses to use them at all. Doesn’t this sound a lot like someone else in pop culture that we know?

Kylie Minogue as a bizarre phobia – the pop superstar is terrified of clothes hangers. The style icon admits she is terrified of the sight and sound of hangers, and has even designed a special type of closet to display her designer outfits. She tells Britain’s Elle magazine, “The problem is I hate putting things on hangers. I have a hanger phobia – I don’t like the way they sound when you put them in the wardrobe. [My wardrobe is] a room in my home where everything is laid out. It never looks like other people’s wardrobes. I’ve got far too many shoes, but they’re so pretty I don’t like to hide them away.” Also in the interview, Minogue revealed one of her biggest fashion regrets. “The occasions when I listen to others and not myself,” she said. “But that can apply to numerous aspects in my life, not just fashion. Sometimes I’ll be wearing something I feel really uncomfortable in, and I’m sure it looks awful and you’re all liars… and then I see what the photographers were seeing and it looks brilliant.

LOL!! Of all the celebs in the world, I imagine that Kylie Minogue is the most unlike Joan Crawford (a.k.a. Mommie Dearest) and, yet, by her own admission she appears to be the one celeb most like her. Sure, I doubt Kylie would beat her child with a wire hanger for using wire hangers on on her clothes but still … with this new information, I guess we cannot be so sure. HMMM.
