Depcehe Mode, who just released their latest album Sounds of the Universe on Tuesday, took over Hollywood Blvd. last night for a live performance on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. Unfortch, I was not able to make it out for the performance but my friend and ofttimes roving reporter Darion was able to attend and he snapped a few pics for sharing here on the blog … behold:

Darion writes: Depeche Mode takes over the streets of Hollywood for Jimmy Kimmel Live

Tonight I went to see Depeche Mode with my friends Fred and Jason – we heard they were giving a free concert in Hollywood. We came upon Hollywood & Argyle to see the entire section of street completely blocked off! The city had closed several blocks around the Hollywood and Highland complex for the FREE concert! Radio stations were handing out 10,000 tickets all day! I have to give a shout out to Sarah S., thanks to her and the always amazing Pink Is The New Blog, we got into the VIP section just as the concert started. It was SO FUN! As you can see from the pics, Jimmy Kimmel kicked off the concert along with Channing Tatum, promoting his new movie Fighting – who looked so insanely hawt I think a few people fainted – and Elisha Cuthbert, who was apparently promoting her transition into becoming a man. I keed, I keed, she’s gorgeous but her outfit choice was not a good one. After they segued for the show Depeche Mode kicked it off with an AMAZING concert! From what we were told they did two songs live for the show, followed by another 30-40 minutes of performing. It was incredible! And so cool they stayed to play for the crowd instead of just doing songs for the show and taking off. My personal favorite of the night was Personal Jesus, the crowd erupted and really got into it. They also did several songs off their new album, as well as some other classics. They start a new tour this summer and ended the show with “See you soon!”. They sounded fantastic live and put on a great show – if you are a fan I definitely recommend seeing them live!!

It sounds like the live performance was incredible … I have been THOROUGHLY obsessed with Sounds of the Universe since I downloaded it on iTunes this past Tuesday. The album is totally solid, really freaking great. It has that old Depeche Mode sound but with an updated feel. While I am bummed that I missed seeing them last night, I understand the band will tour this Summer and is planning a show at the Hollywood Bowl here in LA. I am SO gonna be at that show. American icons like pilot Amelia Earhart, athlete Brandi Chastain, First Lady Michelle Obama and the inspirational symbol of female empowerment Rosie the Riveter (who was based on a real woman named Rose Will Monroe) are honored in the new issue of Glamour magazine which has enlisted a group of young Hollywood starlet to portray various female American icons in an amazing new photo shoot. Photographer Timothy White has just released a new book of photos that feature various members of the Hollywood “It” Girl club posing as 1940’s style pin-up girls. The photos run the gamut from cheeky to mostly nekkid and feature ladies like Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gossip Girl), Elisha Cuthbert (24) and the Olsen twins (Full House) among others … here are a few pics from the oversized coffeetable book titled Hollywood Pinups:

These pics are some of the tamest of the bunch. There are quite a few exposed body parts (well, mostly bums) in some of the other photos featuring Kate Hudson, Angie Harmon and others. Here are a couple pics of Elisha Cuthbert making her way to the gym here in SoCal yesterday afternoon … seeing these pics of the lass reminded me that she, you know, exists. They also reminded me that last week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly reports that she has signed on to reprise her role as Kim Bauer on the upcoming new season of 24 … which is good ‘cuz, you know, there’s that whole forgetting that she is still alive thing:

This from the mag’s new feature Ask Ausiello: Ladies and gentleman, we’ve got a signed contract! Sources confirm to me exclusively that Cuthbert has inked a deal to reprise her role as Jack’s lightning rod of an offspring for a season-ending arc that will no doubt trigger a new round of wholly outdated and painfully unfunny cougar jokes. Per my 24 mole, Kim will return minus her old beau (sorry, C. Thomas Howell) and plus a child! That’s right, Kim’s got a little puma all her own!

Well hallelujah! It’s been ages since we’ve seen Jack Bauer’s only child on 24 and I was starting to wonder what the hell has been doing on with her. You may recall that Jack got sprung from a Chinese prison in the last season of 24 (which aired about 10 years ago) and we got nary a hint that his daughter even cared. I’m glad to see that Kim Bauer will still feature in Jack’s life … I gotta say, I miss that. I’m not the biggest Kim Bauer fan but I do like the complications that she adds to his life. It’ll be great to catch up with the character to see how she’s been doing. I just hope she fixes that fried hair before she shoots new scenes for the show. Oh yeah, I’ve thought WAY TOO much about this … can you tell I’ve been suffering from 24 withdrawals?
