‘Twilight’s Jacob Black Gets The Barbie Treatment

Anatomically correct
Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Back in August we learned that Twilight characters Bella Swan and Edward Cullen would be made into collectible Barbie dolls to be released for sale in time for the release of the sequel film The Twilight Saga: New Moon next week. Today we learn that Twilight character Jacob Black will also get the Barbie doll treatment. Unfortch for the members of Team Jacob, his doll won’t be released until next year … but the good news is that the doll comes with as little clothing as possible:

From the press release: The passion, action and suspense of a worldwide phenomenon will be eternally celebrated … in plastic! The Twilight Saga — which struck the hearts of millions, with a Romeo & Juliet-style romance between a mortal (Bella) and a vampire (Edward) — is immortalized not by a vampire’s bite, but by Barbie® doll. The Twilight Barbie® dolls pay tribute to the beloved characters of Stephenie Meyer’s spellbinding story — Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black. Edward’s strong jaw line and vampire-glow and Bella’s long brunette hair and innocent face showcase the pivotal “Forever 17” scene from Twilight. While Jacob’s mysterious gaze, sculpted abs and well-worn cutoff shorts mirror his physical emergence from boy to werewolf in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The Twilight Barbie® collection is a must-have for Twilight fans and Barbie® collectors alike. In anticipation for the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the Edward and Bella dolls are available now for a suggested retail price of $24.95. Timed to the DVD release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the Jacob Twilight Barbie doll will be available in February 2010 for a suggested retail price of $24.95.

LOL. They gave the poor doll a pair of cutoff shorts, some shoes … and that’s it! Hahahahha. Love it. You may recall that we saw a prototype Jacob Black doll at San Diego Comic Con over the Summer which was shirtless as well. This doll is a bit less ripped as that doll was so depending on how ripped you want your shirtless dolls to be, you might want to wait for the release of that Jacob Black doll. And suddenly, I’m aware of the ridiculousness of this discussion. So let’s move on — after the jump, check out a promo photo of all three Twilight Barbie dolls posed together for a refresher of what they all look like …

Watch: Edward Vs. The Volturi In ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’

"She knows too much"
Saturday, October 24th, 2009

We are mere weeks away from the theatrical release of the much anticipated sequel film The Twilight Saga: New Moon (the film has already begun its worldwide premiere promo tour) but Yahoo! gives us a sneak peek at a scene from the film to whet your appetites as we await the film’s release. In a vid clip made available here, we see Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson) taking on the Volturi vampires as they threaten to harm his beloved Bella Swan:

It looks like Edward Cullen just can’t catch a break. After his being attacked by Jacob, New Moon’s resident heartthrob – played by Robert Pattinson – now has to defend his mortal beloved from the vampire world’s ruling elders, the Volturi. In a new clip on Yahoo.com, Edward, Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Alice (Ashley Greene) face the wrath of elders Aro, Caius and Marcus, played by New Moon newcomers Michael Sheen, Jamie Campbell Bower and Christopher Heyerdahl. “She knows too much, she’s a liability,” warns Caius, signaling Aro to send the Volturi guard into action. As Demetri (Charlie Bewley) restrains Alice, grabbing her by the neck, Edward pounces on Felix (Daniel Cudmore). But no match for the ancient vamp’s strength, he is sent hurtling through the air. Felix then reaches up and slams Edward into the ground, cracking the floor beneath him and his cheek! The fight moves on to the big screen, when New Moon opens on Nov. 20.

The clip, tho short, is very exciting … I mean … just look at the facial expressions in the screencaps above! After the jump, check out the clip in full and see for yourselves …

Bella Swan & Edward Cullen Suface On The Set Of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’

Ready to roll
Sunday, August 30th, 2009

In the past couple of weeks we’ve seen actors from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse roaming the streets of Vancouver, BC (where the film is currently in production) doing pretty much everything BUT working on the film (tho we did see photos of Bryce Dallas Howard [Victoria] and Xavier Samuel [Riley] shooting a scene last Tuesday). One presumes that actual work has been underway but until today we’ve not been privy to any evidence to that effect. Here, at last, are photos of Kristen Stewart, in costume as Twilight protagonist Bella Swan, and Billy Burke, in costume as her on-screen dad with a penchant for the porn’stache Charlie Swan, on the set of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse earlier this week:

Is it terribly wrong that I like the porn’stache on daddy Swan? Yeah, prolly. In any event, you will notice that Bella is clutching her fake diploma in her photo which means that they were shooting the graduation scene in the film. Exciting, no? After the jump, check out a photo of the perfectly coiffed and adequately pale Robert Pattinson, in costume as Edward Cullen, skulking elsewhere on the Eclipse set this week as well …

More Promo Photos Of The Volturi Vampires From ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’

New movie stills and full-size promo photos
Friday, August 28th, 2009

Last month we got our first look at head shots of the Volturi vampires that will be featured in the upcoming sequel film The Twilight Saga: New Moon … and today we get to check out not only full-size promo photos of those baddie vamps but also a few movie stills from the film. Here are the stills and some info from People magazine:

Prepare to be scared. In New Moon, the second installment in Stephenie Meyer’s wildly popular Twilight saga, readers are first introduced to the ancient ruling class of vampires known as the Volturi. Determined to capture their creepy menace for his screen version opening Nov. 20, New Moon director Chris Weitz has given them custom-crafted blood-red eyes. “They’re all hand-painted, specially manufactured contacts,” Weitz tells PEOPLE. “They’re opaque red, almost like preying mantis eyes. You can’t really see into them. There’s something terribly off-putting about it.” British actor Michael Sheen (The Queen) plays Aro, leader of the Italian blood-sucking clan. Although Aro and his brothers Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl) and Caius (Jamie Campbell Bower) have been “alive” for thousands of years, Weitz says he “deliberately” gave them a younger look in the film – for which he credits author Meyer. “Stephenie was very keen to steer away from a kind of wizard-y look for the vampires,” says Weitz. “They do look quite young, but they convey a formality and self-possession, which comes from age.” Perhaps most lethal of all the Volturi is Jane (Dakota Fanning), an angelic-looking vampire who inflicts torture on her victims. “She is very strange and very spooky in this movie,” says Weitz. “I think [Dakota] wanted to play an evil character for once.”

I’m sorry …and in all honesty, it’s hard to judge just from photos but … these vamps don’t look scary as much as they look silly. After the jump, check out the full size promo photos of Jane, Alec, Aro, Marcus and Caius of the Volturi and see if you find them scary — or not …

‘Twilight’ Gets The Barbie Treatment

Vampy emo love never looked so cute
Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Back in June Mattel announced that they would be producing a line of Barbie dolls based on characters from Twilight and today we get to see a new promo photo for the dolls. Available on November 1, Bella Barbie Swan and Edward Ken Cullen will be flying off the store shelves, you just wait and see:

And there they are. Twilight Barbies. Twilight Barbie Bella and Twilight Barbie (Ken, really) Edward. Stephenie Meyer HERSELF art directed the design of the Twilight Barbies, which hit stores November 1, in time for the release of New Moon. They’re $24.95 each. And I don’t need to tell you this, but Bella and Edward Barbie were created in the likeness of the “Forever 17″ scene of Twilight, and actual costumes from the movie set were used to inspire the dolls’ costumes. If Mattel creates another version of Twilight Edward, I truly hope he sparkles when you take him out into the sun. Surely we have that kind of technology.

Look, you don’t need special technology to get Edward-Ken to dazzle in the daylight … all you need is a tube of Elmer’s All Purpose glue and some glitter and VOILA! vampire sparkle! Of the dolls that have been created to cash in on the rabid demand for Twilight merchandise, I think these Barbie dolls are the best. It’s unclear if Mattel plans to manufacture Barbie dolls based on any of the other characters but one hopes they’d at least make a Jacob Black doll, right? Well … while we wait for that to happen we can place our pre-orders for the Bella Swan Barbie doll HERE and the Edward Cullen Ken doll HERE.

‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Releases New Promo Pics Of Edward & Bella

'Moon' shine
Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Last week all the Twilight news was about the firing of Rachelle Lefevre and the hiring of Bryce Dallas Howard but this week it looks as if the focus has moved back to promoting the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Two new character posters have been released to the Internets to hype up the film and, presumably, move focus away from the controversy and back to the rabid fandom. Here is the newly released poster artwork featuring the film’s protagonist Bella Swan:

Pretty standard, kinda meh. To be honest, the poster of Edward Cullen is very similar … just a close-up of his face … but considering how many Twilighters go ga-ga over the mere sight of the lad, well, I guess they’ll be happy with any new promo artwork that features Robert Pattinson as Edward. After the jump, check out the Edward Cullen poster along with new other promo pics of the on-screen lovers …
