Here are a few photos of a pair of sharp-dressed men on the NYC set of Gossip Girl this week … co-stars Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick were spotted lookin’ all cool and shizz each gussied up in their snazzy trench coats:

It’s photos like these that prove why every girl’s (and some guys are) crazy for a sharp dressed man. As much as I HATE the onset of colder Autumn weather, I can appreciate that the fashions look very nice on others. I’m not even sure which one of these young chaps looks better in their finery … I think the edge has to go to Westwick cuz I really love that leather trench. Which Gossip guy do you prefer?

Ed Westwick Finally Enjoys Man-On-Man Action On ‘Gossip Girl’

Last August we learned that Ed Westwick’s character, Chuck Bass, on Gossip Girl would be engaging a bit of man-on-man action on the show and last night was the ep where it all took place. Because Chuck Bass was a bisexual character in the Gossip Girl book series, fans have been wondering if the TV version of Chuck Bass would be emulating his literary counterpart … and it turns out that he does — but on a much smaller scale. Here are a few screen caps of Ed Westwick gettin’ all amorous with co-star Neal Bledsoe:

To be honest, the kiss wasn’t really all that … but on a primetime TV series aimed at the tween set, I think it was adequate. After the jump, check out a screenshot of the actual smooch and watch video of the full scene …

Heh … cute. I really loved the very end of the clip where Chuck tells Blair Waldorf that it wasn’t the first time he ever kissed a guy before. Throwing that little bit in seems to be a nod to the Chuck Bass we know from the book series. And … who knows … perhaps Chuck will be taking future steps towards indulging in the manaction. One can only hope. What did y’all think … were you satisfied?

‘The Stepfather’ Premieres In NYC

Penn Badgely and his co-stars Amber Heard and Dylan Walsh, were joined by much of the Gossip Girl cast at the NYC premiere of their new film The Stepfather which took place at the SVA Theater here in NYC, NY last night. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals:

I believe this is Penn’s first starring movie role so we will soon know if he’s got the chops to carry a film almost all by himself. I don’t know much about Amber Heard’s work but I’m a big fan of Dylan Walsh (who plays Dr. Sean McNamara on Nip/Tuck) and I have no doubt he’ll play a great bad guy in this film. Penn’s costars Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick have already featured in their own big screen flicks (The Covenant and S. Darko respectively) so now it’s Penn’s time to shine. I hope he doesn’t disappoint … David and I have high hopes that this film will be a fun time at the movies. The Stepfather opens on Friday … I guess we’ll know soon enough if Penn’s got what it takes to thrill an audience.

‘Hamlet’ Opens On Broadway

The Broadway production of Hamlet, which stars Jude Law and first ran in London’s West End earlier this year and which I got to see in previews last month, officially opened on the Great White Way last night. While there are a couple of very favorable reviews of the show HERE and HERE, there are other reviews that are decidedly … less favorable. Here is a sampling of what some of the theater critics are saying about the show and Jude Law in particular:

To be, or not to be … a hit on Broadway? That is the question Wednesday morning as the reviews come in for Jude Law’s turn as Hamlet in the much-anticipated Broadway turn for the production, which originated in London to acclaim and opened at New York’s Broadhurst Theatre Tuesday night. Reaction is decidedly mixed. “If Hamlet talks about his mind, you can bet that Mr. Law will point to his forehead; when he mentions the heavens, his arm shoots straight up; and when the guy says his gorge rises, rest assured that he clutches at his stomach. If every actor were like Mr. Law, signed performances for the hard of hearing would be unnecessary,” snipes Ben Brantley of The New York Times. “If anything, Law starts out too overwrought, moaning and gnawing through the great soliloquies as if they were causing him intestinal distress,” Time Out New York’s David Cote notes. Others put in much kinder terms. “His Hamlet is no brooding philosopher/prince; he’s an angry young man, a bundle of nerves forever threatening to explode,” raves USA Today’s Elysa Gardner , who considers Law’s soliloquies “both muscular and exquisitely lyrical.” The traditionally acerbic John Simon of Bloomberg News, however, found nothing poetic about Law’s “flashy, frequently jocular and unsubtle” performance in a play “aimed at neophyte audiences lured to the play not only by the star but with the added promise of a thriller liberally sprinkled with yocks.” Time Out New York, which generally lauded Law, was one of many that had a bone to pick with the supporting cast, finding Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Ophelia ho-hum, and Geraldine James and Ian Drysdale’s Gertrude and Claudius an example of actors taking the phrase “the banality of evil” too literally. Then thank God Jude’s pretty, all critics agreed. Noted The New York Times: “Mr. Law’s undeniable charisma and gender-crossing sex appeal may captivate Broadway theatergoers who wouldn’t normally attend productions of Shakespeare.”

LOL! As much as I loved the show myself, I have to agree with the NY Times critic … I had forgotten that, indeed, Jude mimics physically the words that come out of his mouth … I mean, I’m sure he’s going for emphasis but he does do it for most of the show. In all honesty, I do feel that many of the reviewers who have negative things to say might be speaking from a place where they would be hard pressed to bestow positivity no matter how good an actor like Jude Law is. While I agree that there is some merit to some of the negative reviews, I don’t feel that all of the criticism is very fair. I love that Ed Westwick and Natalie Portman came out for the opening … it does make it seem like the Times critic’s assertion — that Law’s presence in the play will bring out a younger audience — is actually true. I say, so what? If Jude Law’s Hamlet gets more young people into Shakespeare then I say, Yay!! I loved the performance … I urge all Shakespeare fans to see this production. It’s fantastic … you be the judge.

Ed Westwick Introduces Jessica Szohr To His Parents

Gossip Girl co-stars and real life lovebirds Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr spent part of their afternoon yesterday in the company of Ed’s parents … presumably, the first time that Jessica got to meet the “in-laws”. Things must be gettin’ real serious if Ed is ready for Jessica to meet his folks:

I hope that Jessica was a good little pet and offered to take the Westwicks out for a nice dinner of Shepherd’s Pie or out for a pint of Guinness at their local pub … cuz if she tried to get them to eat McDonald’s and Starbucks, I don’t think that’s gonna put her in their good graces.

Ed Westwick Chillin’ At The Tattoo Parlor

Yesterday afternoon we saw photos of Ed Westwick showing off his freshly inked, two newest tattoos (a pigeon feather and a nekkid pin-up girl) and today we get to see photos of Ed at the scene of the crime. Here are photos of Ed Westwick pausing for a smoke break at the tattoo parlor where he got inked recently … in the first photo you can see that he had yet to get his nudie girl tat and in the second photo you can see that he had just gotten his bird feather tattoo:

See … I dunno. I get that tattoos are cool and all, I have a few myself, but I just really think it’s a bad idea for an actor to get tattoos quite this large and on such high profile parts of the body. I’m sure these tattoos have some significance to Mr. Westwick but I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone thinks it’s a good idea to get a topless woman tattooed on one’s body. Mebbe he was going for the drunken sailor look … I dunno … but methinks that one day (mebbe soon) Ed Westwick will look back on these tattoos with great regret. I hope he truly enjoys them while they’re still “cool”, tho.

Ed Westwick Gets A Couple Of FUGLY New Tattoos

UGH! Shield thine eyes, Gossip Girl/Ed Westwick fans cuz I’ve got some really bad news for you. It turns out that Mr. Westwick decided to get some new ink added to his body and commissioned TWO new tattoos to be etched into his skin. First up, check out this horrid-looking tattoo of a bird feather (pigeon?) inked onto the back of his left arm:

I mean … wow. I don’t know WTF? got into him to think that this tattoo was a good idea but … yeah … there you have it. BUT, it gets worse. Ed got another fairly large-sized tattoo inked onto the front of his right arm … I suppose I should warn that it is technically NSFW but since it’s a tattoo, it’s not really that explicit. Curious? Oh.My.Gawd. These are THE worst tattoos ever!! Why, Ed? Whyyyyyyyy?? Mark my words, these tattoos are going to be at least 2 of his life’s biggest regrets. Horrrrrrible!!

You know Chuck loves his lavender … and I’m really feeling the gangster zoot suit on him … it looks like the upcoming new season of Gossip Girl is gonna be ripe with hot clothes for Chuck to wear. Leighton Meester & Ed Westwick Do Korean ‘Elle’ Magazine

Gossip Girl co-stars Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick, whose character on the show we learned earlier today will be exploring his gay side this coming season of GG, are featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Korean Elle magazine. Here is the couple’s cute coverphoto:

Last week we got a preview of this couple in an Elle magazine photospread but it’s unclear if that photo is from US Elle magazine or this Korean edition. After the jump, check out two photos from this Korean issue which do not look like the preview photo we saw last week and are much less “gothy” …

They sure do make a handsome couple … it’s a shame it cannot be true love for their Gossip Girl characters now that Chuck will be mackin’ on guys, too. Ah well … there’s plenty of love to go around … mebbe they can all share? This is a nice magazine spread, I love these two.
