In late May, Showtime released a short teaser promo for the upcoming 6th season of Dexter. Today we get to check out the first full-length promo for the show. In the clip, Dexter questions the reasons why he is the way he is. Could it be that Dexter‘s need to kill bad guys comes from a higher power? Could he really be doing the work of god? Got some great Dexter casting news to pass along today … according to Deadline, Mariana Klaveno — who plays a villainous vampire on HBO‘s True Blood — has signed on for a guest starring arc on Showtime‘s Dexter. You TB fans know that Klaveno plays a pretty wicked vamp on the show … so her casting on a wicked series like Dexter sounds like perfect casting to me. Click below for the deets.

When the upcoming 6th season of Dexter returns this Fall, the action will not pick up from where season 5 left off … the action will begin with a fresh, “clean start” one year after the end of the season 5 drama. According to Dexter producer Sara Colleton has revealed that the plan is to put some distance between the death of his wife Rita (in season 4) and the loss of love interest Lumen (season 5) to move Dexter‘s story forward … which sounds like a great idea to me. Yesterday we got to see the first photos of current co-stars (and ex-marrieds) Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter on the SoCal set of Dexter and today we get to see a teaser video trailer for the upcoming 6th season. Dexter co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were spotted in Long Beach, CA this week filming their first scenes together for upcoming 6th season of their show. As you may recall, MCH and Jen –who play brother and sister on the show — announced the end of their short marriage after the last season of Dexter aired last year … so this would be the first time they had to work together since they began divorce proceedings. I wonder if it was awkward.

Woot!! The upcoming 6th season of Dexter is really shaping up to be really freaking amazing … and filming of the season hasn’t even started yet! Previously we learned that Colin Hanks and Mos Def will be guest starring in the upcoming season but today we learn the AMAZING news that Edward James Olmos (Stand and Deliver, Battlestar Galactica) will also join the show as a guest star character.

Singer turned actor Mos Def (who is, apparently, going only by Mos these days even tho pretty much everyone will continue to call him Mos Def despite his real name being Dante Terrell Smith) has just been announced as the newest guest castmember on the upcoming 6th season of Dexter. As you may recall, we learned earlier this week that Colin Hanks will feature on the show and now we know Mos Def will as well. According to the press release announcement, Mos Def will pay an ex-con named Brother Sam who is described as “a hardened ex-con who claims to have found religion, yet seems to continually find himself surrounded by violence”. HMMM. Does that sound like a good guy or a bad guy to you?
