The Dead Man’s Bones Spooktacular

The TV Guide
Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Last night my friend Josh and I attended a live performance by Dead Man’s Bones, the band made up of actor Ryan Gosling and his partner Zach Shields, at the Echo in Silverlake, CA. I’ve been really looking forward to this show for weeks now and last night was the night:

Dead Man’s Bones was joined on stage by the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir and because of the spooky nature of their music, the kiddies were all dressed up in costumes … as was much of the audience. After the jump, check out some of the photos that I snapped at the show last night …

Dead Man’s Bones Announces A US Tour

Talent shows? Children's Choirs? Best Tour Ever?
Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Last week we learned that Dead Man’s Bones, the band made up of Ryan Gosling and Zack Shields, will be releasing their debut album this Fall and we also got to hear the first single from the album, a song titled My Body’s A Zombie For You. Today we learn that Dead Man’s Bones will be hittin’ the road on a US tour that will feature performances with children’s choirs in each of the cities as well as a talent show as the opening act made up of local performers. How freakin’ cool is that?

When Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields bring their Dead Man’s Bones project to your town, they aren’t coming alone. Oh no. On their very first tour, scheduled for this October, the actor/musician duo will bring the songs of their debut album to life with the help of a local choir in each of the twelve spots they’re hitting. As Gosling and Shields explained to us, their self-titled debut (out October 6 on Anti-) was recorded with the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir. But they can’t bring all those kids on the road with them. Hence, a new group in every city. To make the experience even cooler, the opening act for the shows will be a talent show, organized by the band and featuring local talent in each city. Wow.

Damn, that is very cool. I’m hoping to be able to catch these guys on tour. If I see them in LA they’ll prolly be performing with the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir and I would LOVE to see that. After the jump, check out the full list of tourdates to see if DMB will be comin’ your way …

Dead Man’s Bones, the band made up of actor Ryan Gosling and his buddy Zach Shields, have announced that their self titled debut album will be released on October 6 on Anti- records and today we get our first listen at a song off the album. Firstly, here is the album artwork for the new album along with the disc’s tracklist:

The debut album from actor Ryan Gosling’s Dead Man’s Bones is set to be released on October 6. Gosling collaborated with fellow thespian Zach Shields on the project, and the pair recorded the self-titled album with Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir in Los Angeles, reports Pitchfork. The band describe their musical inspiration as “Disney haunted mansion, doo wop and 60s girl groups”.

The tracklisting is:

‘Intro’
‘Dead Hearts’
‘In the Room Where You Sleep’
‘Buried in Water’
‘My Body’s a Zombie for You’
‘Pa Pa Power’
‘Young & Tragic’
‘Paper Ships’
‘Lose Your Soul’
‘Werewolf Heart’

Ryan Gosling’s Band Releases A New Music Video

'Dead Man' singing
Saturday, December 27th, 2008

A couple of weeks ago we learned that Ryan Gosling is in a band called Dead Man’s Bones with his BFF Zach Shields when a couple of “promo” pics of the band were posted to the band’s official My Space profile. At the time, I wasn’t sure what sort of music the band produced as the My Space page was totally devoid of music and information. Today we get to see the first music video from the band for their song titled In The Room Where You Sleep … here are a few screencaps from the vid:

Dead Man’s Bones collaborated with The Silver Lake Conservatory of Music Children’s Choir, who appear in the vid, for this first single. It’s deffo a sound that I wouldn’t expect from Ryan Gosling … and I had no idea that he could play the piano so well. Sigh … it reminds me of The Notebook. After the jump, check out this new music video in full …

Ryan Gosling Is A Hottie In Wolf’s Clothing

He's in a band?
Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Did y’all know that Ryan Gosling has his own band? Did you know that band is made up of only two guys (Ryan and bandmate Zack Shields)? Did you know the band is called Dead Man’s Bones? Well, now you do. Here are a couple of promo pics of Dead Man’s Bones that have been posted to the band’s official My Space profile:

According to the profile page, the band describes their music as “Gothic / Gospel / Showtunes” lists the band as “unsigned” and promises “someday we’ll make an album”. Um. Yeah, I don’t even care about any of that … I’d just love to see Ryan Gosling all hot and sweaty up on a stage somewhere either singing, or playing or dancing around — whatever it is that his forté in the band may be. Unfortch, the My Space page offers no music or any other pertinent information beyond these pics and these highlights. I’m not entirely sure this band is a real thing or not but … it sounds fun nonetheless. Any guess as to which guy in these photos is which? We might need a pecs expert to weigh in.
