Meet Harper Grace & Gideon Scott Burtka-Harris
Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Show Off Their Twin Babies In ‘People’ Magazine

Yesterday we got to read excerpts of an interview with new dad Neil Patrick Harris in this week’s issue of People magazine (on newsstands now) where he opens up about being a new dad with partner David Burtka. I speculated that the interview might be accompanied by photos of the twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott … and I was right. The new issue of People magazine gives us our FIRST LOOK at NPH and David‘s beautiful newborn twin children.

"I just love the way [the babies] smell."
Neil Patrick Harris Opens Up About Being A New Father

Back in October we learned the joyous news that longtime couple Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka welcomed the birth of twin babies which were born to the couple via surrogate mother. Today we get to hear from NPH in a new interview with People magazine for the first time since he and partner David became new fathers.

Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Love ‘Cinderella’

New dads Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were among the celebs in attendance at an opening event at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood, CA last night for the opening of a pantomime version of Cinderella. For those of you who don’t know, a pantomime is a British show that is traditionally performed around Xmas and usually transcends the fourth wall and encourages interaction with the audience. Clearly, NPH and David were cool with leaving their newborn twin babies at home so that they could enjoy a night out at the theater together:

It turns out that Neil was one of the casting judges who helped select the cast of this production so I’m sure he was excited to see fruits of his labor. I wouldn’t count on getting to see NPH and David‘s babies anytime soon … the couple are notoriously private about their personal life … so I guess we’ll just have to content ourselves with photos of the hot DILFs themselves.

Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Take The Little Ones Out For A Walk

New daddies Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka stepped out in public together yesterday morning for the first time since they announced the arrival of the couple’s twin children Gideon Scott and Harper Grace on Friday afternoon. As you can see, NPH and David stepped out with their wee little ones … their dogs, that is:

HMMM … I suppose since the guys are new dads, it’s to be expected that they might make a few mistakes with their tiny babies … the kids were prolly safely tucked away in a sock drawer back home, I’m sure they were fine. Neil posted a new tweet update on his official Twitter profile about life with newborns, check it out after the jump …

'Modern Family' and 'Mad Men' take home the big awards
The 2010 Emmy Awards Are Handed Out

Last night at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, CA the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards were handed out on LIVE TV in a telecast that offered some entertainment, lots of surprises and a bit of disappointment. Here are a few photos of some of the attendees of last night’s Emmy Awards as they made their grand arrivals on the red carpet:

As for the show itself, well, overall I was a bit underwhelmed by what we were given. I thought Jimmy Fallon did a fairly good job as host but much of the show was tedious and annoying. The announcer who wouldn’t shut up as the night progressed really got on my nerves. They need to get rid of him, like, seriously. I really enjoyed Jimmy‘s musical interludes and I really enjoyed the show’s Glee-themed opening number. In case you missed it or just want to watch it again, you can do so after the jump …

Neil Patrick Harris Wins 2, Betty White Wins 1
The 2010 Creative Arts Emmy Awards Are Handed Out

Yesterday afternoon the 2010 Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out in a ceremony held at the Nokia Theater in downtown LA, CA much to the delight of a few of our fave television actors. Neil Patrick Harris, who we learned last week will be welcoming the birth of twin babies this October, managed to win two of the awards handed out yesterday and our beloved Golden Girl Betty White nabbed a trophy for her hosting performance on Saturday Night Live last Spring. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals yesterday (loving Mary Lynn Rajskub and Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks in her sexy Christian Siriano dress) and some deets about who won what:

She won for being naughty on the subject of muffins, and he won – twice – for singing and dancing. Betty White’s Facebook-generated Saturday Night Live hosting gig and Neil Patrick Harris’s turns as Tonys host and special guest star on Glee landed both veteran TV stars in the winners’ circle at Saturday night’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Though White, 88, was not at the Nokia Theater to collect her prize (her Snickers ad was also up for TV’s highest honor), presenters John Lithgow and Clyde Phillips accepted on her behalf. Meanwhile, Harris, 37, was present and accounted for … Harris, who also thanked his partner and (co-parent-to-be) David Burtka, is up for a best supporting actor in a series, for How I Met Your Mother, at next Sunday’s Primetime Emmy Awards. Saturday’s other winners also included Jaime Oliver’s Food Revolution (best reality series), previous Emmy-winning Survivor host Jeff Probst (best reality-show host) and Ann-Margret, for her guest -starring role on Law and Order: SVU. The ad firm Weiden + Kennedy also received a Creative Arts Emmy for its Old Spice commercial, whose star, Isaiah Mustafa, told the Hollywood Reporter before the ceremony, “This is my first awards show, and I get to be nominated alongside Betty White!”

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards don’t usually get this much attention but considering the caliber of nominees this year, it’s no wonder this news is making a big splash. The big Emmy Awards are next week … but these Creative Arts Emmys are getting major attention. After the jump, check out a few photos of some of the winners at this year’s Creative Arts Emmys

NPH confirms the baby news is true!
Are Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Expecting Twins? (UPDATE)

E! News is reporting that longtime couple Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are expecting the birth of twin babies by way of surrogate this October. According to the site, the supposed daddies to be have already began planning the impending baby shower! Altho this report has not been confirmed by the couple, I can’t help but be excited by the notion of NPH and David becoming new parents together:

E! News has exclusively learned that the ubiquitous actor and his longtime partner, David Burtka, are going to become the parents of twins, via a beautiful surrogate, this October. At least the dads are allowed to celebrate with a champagne toast! A source tells E! that the happy couple have put baby shower plans in motion, as if Harris’ chance of winning three Emmys this month wasn’t already enough to celebrate! Burtka, a chef and actor who has guest-starred on How I Met Your Mother, was just seen with his multitalented beau last weekend after Harris directed a production of Rent at the Hollywood Bowl.

Now before we bust out the champagne and offer our official congratulations, let me remind you that Star magazine reported last year that the couple were planning to start a family together. Either that report was flat out wrong or Neil and David decided to push back their baby making for a year. I think I will hold off on getting too excited about this baby news until we hear something more substantial from either “dad-to-be” … still … how amazing will it be to see these two guys pushing a double baby stroller together?

UPDATE: Shortly after I posted this story, Neil Patrick Harris confirmed this report with a post on his official Twitter profile … here is what he tweeted just moments ago:

So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We’re super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy…

Yay!! So the news is true!! Now it’s time to pop the champagne! NPH and David are going to make fabulous parents! I am so thrilled for them both!!

'Billy Elliot's Big Night
The 63rd Annual Tony Awards Are Handed Out

Broadway’s biggest night took place at Radio City Music Hall in NYC, NY last night as the 63rd Annual Tony Awards were handed out in a lavish and fun ceremony. Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, this year’s Tony Awards injected mirth and merriment into the awards show that honors achievement in plays and musical theater on New York City’s Great White Way. Billy Elliot the Musical, which David and I were fortunate enough to see earlier this year, set a record by winning 10 Tony Awards last night, including Best Actor in a Musical (an award that was given to the 3 young actors who play Billy in the show … which is a first in Tony Awards history) and Best Musical. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals:

Yes, folks … that is Bret Michaels of Poison in the last photo. The band was on hand to preform with the company of Rock of Ages in the opening number … which turned out to be a quite a performance, especially for Bret — but I’ll get to that in a sec. Here are a few photos of some of the Tony Award winners last night and some deets about the show itself:

Broadway productions with roots in the London theater dominated the 63rd annual Tony Awards on Sunday, with “Billy Elliot” winning best musical and nine other awards and “God of Carnage” picking up honors for best play, best director and best actress. While several categories were unusually competitive this year because of the large number of strong Broadway productions, there were also no major upsets. The three teenage boys who rotate in the title role of “Billy Elliot” — David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish — jointly won the award for best actor in a musical, as expected, and they also injected considerable charm into the CBS telecast. Standing onstage together, they covered their eyes with their hands at different points and looked away from the camera bashfully while muttering sentiments like “Oh my God” and “wow” and “unbelievable.” Then they took a long pause, as if trying to decide who should speak first — joint Tony Awards are very rare — and then went on to thank their parents and siblings and school and dance teachers. “And we want to say to all the kids out there who might want to dance, never give up,” Mr. Kulish added. “Billy Elliot” proved to be the commercial and critical musical hit of the 2008-9 Broadway season, routinely grossing more than $1 million a week in spite of the recession. Elton John, who composed the show’s score, made a point of thanking audience members for that success as he accepted the award for best musical. “We came here at a hard time economically, you opened your wallets and you opened your hearts, and we love you for it,” he said. This year’s awards were spread around evenly for the most part, with 14 shows receiving at least one Tony. With “Billy Elliot” far ahead, the musical “Next to Normal” and “God of Carnage” were next up with three Tonys each, including best actress honors for Alice Ripley for “Normal” and Marcia Gay Harden for “Carnage.” The French playwright Yasmina Reza accepted the best play award for “Carnage,” which also took honors for the British director Matthew Warchus. “I’m very happy to be here again — maybe you missed my accent; you wanted to hear it again?” said Ms. Reza, who previously won for her play “Art.” The award for best revival of a play went to another British import, “The Norman Conquests.” If accents were indeed in large supply through the night, so were celebrity presenters and recipients, with Broadway having one of its busiest years for actors from film and television. The Oscar-winning actor Geoffrey Rush (an Australian) was honored as best actor in a play as the monarch in “Exit the King” by Eugène Ionesco, whose works came to define the Theater of the Absurd yet are rarely revived on Broadway. “I want to thank Manhattan theater audiences for proving that French existential absurdist tragi-comedy rocks,” Mr. Rush said. Politics strayed onto the Tony landscape at only a couple of points, most notably when Oskar Eustis, artistic director of the Public Theater, accepted the award for best musical revival for “Hair.” “Peace now, freedom now, equality now,” Mr. Eustis said, gesturing to his ring finger as he uttered those last two words, a reference to gay marriage rights. “And justice forever.” Angela Lansbury won her fifth Tony Award, for best featured actress in a play, for her turn as the medium in “Blithe Spirit,” 43 years after winning her first award, for best actress in the musical “Mame.” “Who knew, who knew, that at this time in my life that I should be presented with this lovely, lovely award,” said Ms. Lansbury, who is 83. Liza Minnelli received the Tony for special theatrical event for her one-woman show “Liza’s at the Palace.” For best featured performances in a musical, Gregory Jbara (“Billy Elliot”) and Karen Olivo (“West Side Story”) were honored. The best featured actor award went to another theater veteran, Roger Robinson, for his role in “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.” Other awards went to Stephen Daldry for his direction of “Billy Elliot,” “Mary Stuart” for costume design and “Equus” for sound design. All three shows had runs in London before the current Broadway productions were mounted.

I am so happy that Billy Elliot won so many awards. It is truly a superb show, one that David and I thoroughly enjoyed when we saw in January. We saw Trent Kowalik play Billy at our show and really loved his performance … the award to the 3 Billys is much deserved, I think. Congrats!! I’m not sure how many of you watched the Tony Awards last night but it was a very entertaining show. The opening number included short performances from 10 different musicals and offered one of the most talked about/funniest moments of the show. After the jump, check out video from that opening number and see how Poison‘s Bret Michaels almost lost his head during the opening performance …
