The Pop Culture Sculptor Strikes Again
Jay-Z’s ‘Greed’ Gets Immortalized In Sculpture by Daniel Edwards

In recent months, artist Daniel Edwards has created sculpture artwork in celebration of the love between Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez and in honor of the death of Amy Winehouse. Today we learn that he has turned his artful eye toward rapper Jay-Z and his supposed “greed”. Edwards has taken issue with Jay‘s decision to capitalize on the Occupy Wall Street movement by selling t-shirts that would only make him more money. In response to Jay‘s decision to make money from the Occupy Wall Street movement, Edwards has created a sculpture likeness of Jay-Z with a totem of fictitious yet famously greedy charactersMontgomery Burns (The Simpsons), Scrooge Mc Duck (Duck Tales) and Richie Rich (Richie Rich). Check out this humorous new artwork below.

The Late Amy Winehouse Memorialized As A Naked Bust

Last month we got to see the latest sculpture masterpiece created by pop culture artist Daniel Edwards and today we get to feast our eyes on his newest offering. While last month Edwards paid tribute to the young love affair betwixt Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, this month he is paying tribute to the late singer Amy Winehouse. Memorial Portrait for Amy Winehouse is a topless bust tribute sculpture that, like all of Edwards‘s work, must be seen to be fully appreciated. Check it out below.

"Justin and Selena as One"
Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez’s Love Captured Forever In A Nude Statue

American pop culture artist Daniel Edwards has struck again, y’all … and his latest piece of artwork is really a doozy. As you may know, Edwards has previously created sculpture artwork in tribute of some of the most notable pop culture stars of the day including Brangelina, Angelina Jolie herself and her twin babies, Octomom Nadya Suleman, of course Britney Spears and more. These days, Edwards has set his sights on the new generation of pop culture stars … focusing squarely on Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. The pair are depicted, mostly nude, in a statue that joins them at the hip (literally) and is titled Justin and Selena as One. You have GOT to check out the photos below.

"Theirs is the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton romance of our time"
The ‘Brangelina Forever’ Statue Unveiled In Edmond, OK

Pop culture artist Daniel Edwards, who last unveiled a statue called Landmark for Breastfeeding featuring a nude Angelina Jolie breastfeeding a child on the campus of the University of Oklahoma earlier this year, has created a new sculpture called Brangelina Forever. Brangelina Forever is housed inside a larger art project created by LA artist Xvala called The Brangelina, which is a faux (but life-size) home/art piece which is meant to represent the famed couple. This faux home, as I mentioned, features the life-size statue of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie … who are, of course, nekkid:

Phantom-Financial announces the December unveiling of the sculpture of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in an amorous embrace by artist Daniel Edwards, just minutes from Brad Pitt’s own birthplace in the Oklahoma City Metro area. The sculpture is part of the 4,000 sq. ft., $500,000 house named “The Brangelina”, by the Los Angeles artist known as Xvala. “Brangelina Forever”, a life-size casting of Brad and Angelina in bed, making love Harlequin Romance-style, with a cooing dove perched on Brad’s finger, is installed in the ceiling of the master bedroom to inspire a ‘sexual healing’ for the room’s occupants. The statues are embedded with crushed glass containing Brad and Angie’s DNA obtained from wine glasses from which they drank while reportedly celebrating the anniversary of their first meeting on the set of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith.’ “The Brangelina” sculpture is destined to exist forever, the way Brad and Angie’s relationship will persist in people’s memories. Theirs is the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton romance of our time,” said publicist Cory Allen. Inspired by Brad Pitt’s mission to help rebuild houses in New Orleans’s Lower Ninth Ward after hurricane Katrina, the artist Xvala built “The Brangelina”, a house which requests its future owners agree to extend ‘Honorary Ownership’ of their home to Pitt and Jolie, and to accommodate them every time they come to town to visit Pitt’s grandmother. “I believe every home in America should become an ‘honorary home’ to our superstars, in order to connect celebrities and regular people in spirit,” said Xvala. The statue and the house are part of the documentary “Domestic Bliss: The Daniel Edwards/XVALA Project” by Oklahoma filmmaker Dave Smith and produced by Vacant Era Films, scheduled to premiere at The New York Academy of Art. A segment of the film has been posted on YouTube. The Brangelina will be on public view starting Wednesday December 16th at 11 a.m. in the Thornbrooke neighborhood of Edmond.

In addition to the Angelina breastfeeding statue you may recall that Edwards also created the Britney Spears giving birth on a bear skin rug statue called Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston a couple of years ago. And I have to say, I absolutely LOVE that the Daniel Edwards has made the great state of Oklahoma (which is near and dear to my heart) THE center of pop culture artwork. The city of Edmond, where The Brangelina art-piece is on display, is a quite little suburban neighborhood … the perfect setting for a homey art-piece like this. After the jump, check out a couple of uncensored photos of the Brangelina Forever sculpture and watch a short video that describes The Brangelina art project in more detail …

"We believe the statue sends a beautiful message by promoting ... breastfeeding"
Angelina Jolie’s Breastfeeding Prowess Immortalized In Sculpture

Daniel Edwards — the American sculptor who created controversial statues of Britney Spears giving birth on a bearskin rug titled Monument to Pro-Life, a topless bust of Hillary Rodham Clinton and the pink plastic babytoy sculpture of Octomom Nadya Suleman titled Octomom: String of Babies (but not the artist who created the Kate Moss in yoga pose statue called Spinx, that was Marc Quinn) — has set his artistic talents on Angelina Jolie and her love of breastfeeding. A new sculpture titled Landmark for Breastfeeding will go on display in the metropolitan Oklahoma City area next month before it goes on permanent display in London, England. Inspired by Angelina‘s comments (and photos) on the wonders of breastfeeding in W magazine last year, Edwards decided to immortalize the sacred act between mother and child (well, in Ange‘s case children) in his latest work of art. Here is a photo of the new sculpture and the accompanying press release:

For World Breastfeeding Week, Phantom-Financial announces the unveiling of a life-size park bench sculpture of Angelina Jolie nude with her twin babies by New York artist Daniel Edwards just minutes from Brad Pitt’s own birthplace in the Oklahoma City Metro area in September before its Fall exhibition in London. “Landmark for Breastfeeding,” inspired by last year’s cover of W magazine featuring Angelina Jolie suckling her baby, depicts a seated nude Jolie double-breastfeeding twins. The tranquil bronze statue demonstrates the “football-hold,” an accepted technique for breastfeeding two babies simultaneously. In recognition of the global effort to encourage breastfeeding, one twin is depicted as being of African descent. Future castings of the statue will represent other world cultures through variations of the babies’ patina coloring. “We believe the statue sends a beautiful message by promoting the acceptance of public breastfeeding. Mothers should be encouraged to nurture their babies anywhere,” said Sandy Wilson of Phantom-Financial. “Hopefully, my sculpture inspires an increase of wetnurses to assist women who have concerns about mastitis, or passing HIV to their infant,” said artist Daniel Edwards in his Connecticut studio where the Jolie statue currently resides. “La Leche League International and Loretta McCallister have been very helpful,” said project coordinator Cory Allen. “We are applying for approval to put ‘Landmark for Breastfeeding’ on permanent display in a Metro area park.” The Jolie monument will be unveiled September 11th at MAINSITE Contemporary Art in Norman. A cast of the sculpture is expected to be auctioned by Sotheby’s October 7th for The New York Academy of Art’s annual Take Home A Nude art auction, after being displayed at Holster Projects in London’s West End.

Can I just say that I LOVE that this piece of art will go on display in Norman, OK … home of my beloved alma mater the University of Oklahoma! I’m not sure how the Okies will receive this new piece of art but … I’m glad they’re being exposed. Edwards really seems to have a knack for melding pop culture with controversy to come up with interesting artwork. IMHO, none of his works have yet surpassed his masterpiece statue of Britney giving birth, Monument to Pro-Life, but I can appreciate that he continues to push the envelope. After the jump, check out a couple more photos of this new Angelina-inspired statue and check out a short video of Daniel Edwards talking about the creation of his latest piece of art …

Immortal mother
Octomom Nadya Suleman Becomes Art

Pop culture artist Daniel Edwards, who previously immortalized Britney Spears giving birth and Hillary Clinton‘s bare breasts in statues of their own, has created a new piece of artwork titled String of Babies in honor of the so-called Octomom Nadya Suleman … behold:

It’s the stuff nightmares are made of, not fit for any nursery… But this collectible rubber toy can be yours for the bargain price of your immortal soul. Daniel Edwards, the artist who brought us Suri’s poop, Britney birthing, Paris’ insides and Oprah’s head-with-dogs, has brought his sculptor’s sensibility to Octomom with his latest creation, String of Babies’, holds a baby bottle upright. The bright pink “toy” features octopuslike tentacles sprouting from a replica of Nadya Suleman’s head and cradling eight little identical baby heads and a baby bottle. No word on which of the eight doll-reminiscent heads are supposed to be Noah and Isaiah, the two Suleman infants who on Tuesday were the first of the eight to be released from Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Bellflower, Calif. The press release touting the new addition to the creep-out canon deems String of Babies to be in the ironic, in-your-face style of American Gothic—Grant Wood’s much-parodied painting of a pitchfork-wielding farmer and his equally severe-looking wife standing in front of their home. Of course. We’re sure countless cultural histories about String of Babies are forthcoming.

Blah! While the Octomom has become something of a pop cultural phenomenon, I can’t help but think that all of this crazy attention is exactly the sort of thing she relishes. While I don’t necessarily think that she planned on becoming a “celebrity” because of her octuplets (and by that I mean, Nadya Suleman doesn’t strike me as the kind of person to possess intelligent foresight) I absolutely believe that she is prolly loving every minute of all of the attention. Now that she has been immortalized by Daniel Edwards, she joins the ranks of other celebs like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Oprah Winfrey and more as subjects of pop culture who will live forever as art … which, to Suleman, is prolly a very nice perk of giving birth to 8 babies at once.

AND GET THIS … YOU can buy this piece of artwork for a mere $199! What a bargain! Is anyone interested in owning this? Should I buy one?
