More Crisp-iano Ronaldo
Cristiano Is A Cripsy Critter

Yesterday we got to see a few RIDICULOUS photos of Manchester United soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo showing off his fried chicken legs as he hobbled on crutches at the Ed Hardy boutique in West Hollywood, CA and today we get to check out a couple more photos of the Portuguese phenom doing what he seems to love best … frying his epidermis:

Football star Cristiano Ronaldo clearly enjoys sporting the bronzed look. But the Manchester United and Portuguese international appears to have taken his love of tanning too far as he turned a distinct shade of mahogany from his daily sunbathing sessions in Los Angeles. Ronaldo has spent his break since the premiere season’s end last month sunning himself. First on holiday with ex-girlfriend Nereida in Sardinia, and now in Los Angeles. But despite acquiring the desired bronzed look some weeks ago, the star footballer is still soaking up the sun on a daily basis. Ronaldo’s once sunkissed skin has now turned a decidedly much darker hue, but the 23-year-old appears to be addicted to the suns rays, lying out in the sun on a daily basis. Ronaldo is recuperating in Los Angeles after an operation on his ankle.

Yeah, methinks that Cristiano should really start to be concerned about all this suntanning. Absent the fact that he could contract a nasty case of skin cancer, his skin looks like it’s about 4 minutes away from turning into leather. It’s not a good look. The darker he becomes the more I think about the Season 5 Project Runway contestant Blayne and his insane love of suntanning — he must be seething with jealousy … dare I say, he’s “green” with envy?

Finger-lickin' good?
Cristiano Ronaldo Gets Extra Fried, Crispy

Portuguese soccer player and Manchester United phenom Cristiano Ronaldo continues to hobble his way around SoCal this week spending some time poolside and shopping with friends. Here are pics of the overly fried lad doing a bit of shopping at the Ed Hardy boutique in West Hollywood, CA yesterday afternoon:

ICK. His skin looks really unattractive in these pics (which is strange ‘cuz I like leather). It’s funny how hawt he looks when he’s all oiled up and lying in the sun and how totally EW he looks in these pics. The shorty shorts do nothing for his crispy brown chicken legs … I think he needs to rethink his whole ensemble. I am not a fan of this look … are you?

... and how!
Cristiano Ronaldo Soaks Up The Sun

Soccer phenom Cristiano Ronaldo has been making the most of his time in LA this week and he isn’t letting the recuperation process from his recent ankle surgery keep him incapacitated. Cristiano has been hobbling his way around town going to award shows, hitting up various clubs (reportedly scamming on chicks) and generally enjoying the LA nightlife … but in the day, well, Cristiano spends most of his time lounging poolside, in the sun … tanning:

When it comes to sunshine, just like pretty ladies, Cristiano Ronaldo can’t seem to get enough. The Manchester United star spent yet another day reclining on a sun lounge at his luxury LA hotel, topping up a tan that has already reached a rather startling shade of orange. Ronaldo looked right at home in Hollywood as he smothered himself in baby oil for the latest baking session, regularly rotating to ensure an all-over colour. The injured star was recovering poolside from yet another night on the town, where he was again spotted trawling clubs for female companions. He hit popular celebrity haunt Villa on both Friday and Saturday night, where onlookers say he was busy “auditioning” girls. A fellow club-goer observed: ‘He scans the whole crowd and picks out his top three girls. “He’ll chat to one then if he doesn’t like her, he has one of his friends come sit down in between them, and will move on to the next girl.” Ronaldo has been on the rampage since splitting with Spanish model Nereida Gallardo at the beginning of this month.

I understand that suntanning is a way of life for the Portuguese footballer but I hope that he’s being smart about it … baking one’s skin in the sun isn’t always the best idea. Even still, I’m not really complaining … if Mr. Ronaldo wants to lie about half-nekkid all day long, who am I to protest?

Cuz there ain't enough awards coming from cable sports networks
ESPN Hands Out Some 2008 ESPY Awards

Last night the 2008 ESPY Awards, an annual sports awards event which honors Excellence in Sports Performance for individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance, took place at the Nokia Theater here in LA and a bunch of sports celebs (and other, regular celebs) attended the event, which was hosted by self-proclaimed “sports nut” Justin Timberlake. Here are a few pics from the red carpet and a bit about JT‘s performance as host:

Self-proclaimed sports junkie Justin Timberlake had his idols rolling in the aisles Wednesday night, as he hosted the 2008 ESPY Awards. The singer earned raves as he alternated between self-deprecating humor (at one point, he poked fun at his infamous 2004 Super Bowl performance with Janet Jackson, saying “I wanted to be the only guy at a football game to get to second base”) and playfully mocking audience members (he lowered his nose to one of David Beckham’s Tom Ford shoes and proclaimed, “Smells like $250 million to me!”). He also performed a sports-themed rock opera. “If I made the decisions, I’d ask Justin to be [our] entertainment every week,” Monday Night Football host Stuart Scott told reporters during the show. “After what he’s putting down tonight … Justin can come hang out with us on the set anytime.”

But, apparently, the ESPY Awards are more than just celebs and funny hosts … there is actual recognition of sports achievement to be had as well … golfer Tiger Woods and basketball player Candace Parker were the top male and female winners last night, Sports Illustrated has the deets:

Tiger Woods won three trophies at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday night, including his fifth male athlete of the year award, giving him a career-leading 21 wins in the show’s 16-year history. Woods surpassed retired cyclist Lance Armstrong for most wins as male athlete. He earned his fourth consecutive ESPY for best golfer and won best championship performance for his playoff victory at the U.S. Open on a bad left knee. Woods is at home in Florida recuperating from last month’s knee surgery, causing him to miss this week’s British Open and the rest of the PGA season … The Super Bowl champion New York Giants tied Woods with three victories: best game, best upset and best play, which was David Tyree’s leaping catch of quarterback Eli Manning’s pass that kept the team’s game-winning drive alive … Candace Parker was a double winner, earning female athlete of the year and female college athlete honors. She led Tennessee to its second consecutive NCAA national championship before becoming the WNBA’s No. 1 draft pick and going to the Los Angeles Sparks. “I’m just excited I got to meet David Beckham,” said Parker, who received her trophy from the English superstar. “I grew up playing soccer, so I love David Beckham. I was thinking, `Don’t trip, don’t trip.’ He’s truly an inspiration.” Tennis players Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova, along with Woods, boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., NHL star Sidney Crosby and bowler Norm Duke repeated as winners in their individual sports categories. Like Woods, Federer won his category for the fourth straight year. Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton was chosen as comeback of the year, having successfully battled drug addiction to reach the major leagues. Tuesday, Hamilton hit a record 28 homers in the first round of the All-Star Home Run Derby. Tommie Smith and John Carlos received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award nearly 40 years after their black power salute on the medals stand at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics … The best moment category honored Western Oregon’s Sara Tucholsky, along with Central Washington’s Mallory Holtman and Liz Wallace, for their sportsmanship during a Division II softball game. Tucholsky homered, but missed first base and started back to tag it when she collapsed with a knee injury. Holtman and Wallace, her opponents, stunned fans by carrying Tucholsky around the bases so the three-run homer would count.

To be honest, I never pay attention to Sports Awards shows like this … I had no idea that they honored actual sportsmanship. If you look at the red carpet, you’d have no idea the awards show was actually about honoring real sports heroes. That being said, some celebs — like David and Victoria Beckham — are trying to bridge the gap between sportsdom and celebrity … here are a few pics of Les Beckhams on the red carpet last night:

And others, still, like Cristiano Ronaldo who are trying to emulate David Beckham to hopefully get in on that sports/celebrity thing — tho, Cristiano has a lot to learn about making a red carpet splash. I feel bad that the guy got injured (sometime between his extended vacay in Sardina, Italy and last night’s ESPY Awards) but crutches do not make the right kind of statement on the red carpet:

Yeah, it’s not a good look for him … but good for him for making the effort! Cristiano talked to Hollyscoop on the red carpet and revealed that if a David Beckham-type offer came from a US soccer team (like the LA Galaxy) he’d consider making the move to the US:

When Hollyscoop.com caught up with him at the 2008 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, Cristiano said that if LA Galaxy came knocking on his door, he would certainly consider the move. He seemed eager to follow in Beckham’s footsteps. In regards to making an immediate move to Los Angeles, the 23 year-old star tells Hollyscoop, “I have time, I prefer to play in Europe … it’s better in the moment, but the future, no one knows” … Would Galaxy ever be an option for Ronaldo? “Yes, you know Beckham plays there and I spoke with him a few times and he says it’s great to play here, so maybe in the future you never know. Maybe one day, I will play here.”

Maybe indeed … heal up that ankle first, Cristiano … we wouldn’t want a repeat of the Galaxy‘s last season (Becks was sidelined for much of his tenure due to an ankle injury).

And so … another cache of ESPY Awards have been handed out … congrats to the winners and all that jazz. Click HERE for a full list of this years ESPY Award winners.

Battle Of The Bulge: Becks Vs. Cristiano

Here’s a fun little game to wrap your head around … here are two pictures, one of David Beckham on the fields of play in Washington DC at this weekend’s LA Galaxy vs. DC United soccer match and one of Cristiano Ronaldo enjoying his holiday in Sardinia, Italy also this weekend — both men grabbing a hold of their naughty bits:

So the question becomes … which man has a better grasp on the better assets? To be totally honest, it looks like Cristiano has got the advantage as it appears that he has more to hold on to … maybe Becks‘s photo was taken at an unfortunate angle but it doesn’t really look like there’s much there. HMMM … what do you think? Who wins this battle of the bulge?

Sadly, it's prolly not exactly what you think
Cristiano Ronaldo Showers In Public

Here are a few photos of Manchester United soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo to start the day off right. Mr. Ronaldo continued his Sardinian holiday with friends this weekend and spent a bit of time washing off his mostly nekkid body in a public, poolside shower … take a look:

While the absence of a pair of certain neon orange swim trunks might’ve made these photos a wee bit more interesting, I ain’t complaining by any stretch of the imagination. Yeah, there ain’t really all that much that one can say about photos like these. Yummo! comes to mind, tho. I kinda love it when Cristiano Ronaldo goes on vacay … he should deffo do much more of it.

Doesn't need a speedo to bring the hawtness
Cristiano Ronaldo Vacays In Sardinia

Here’s a bit more hawtness to follow up on the new Becks bulge that we’ve been treated to already today … soccer, sorry, fútbol superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (who plays for Becks‘s old team Manchester United) was spied sunning it up in Sardinia, Italy this week and thus far I’ve been far from impressed with what I’ve been seeing … all his canoodling with his ladyfriend isn’t really all that interesting to me. I find these photos of the lad all by himself much more appealing:

You know, I’m never quite sure what goes well with short swim trunks … it’s good to know that a simple rosary adds just the right flair to the ensemble. WOOOO man, those bronzed muscles look great glistening in the sun … I have to make a note to get my ass to the beach as soon as I get back to LA. Sure, Cristiano won’t be walking around in SoCal but seeing these pictures of him has inspired me to take in the local sights available to me at home ;) When does this guy get his own underwear ad campaign? Someone needs to sign him up, like, NOW!
