That's what 'Friends' are for
Lisa Kudrow Will Join Courteney Cox-Arquette On ‘Cougar Town’

While we wait to hear about any movement on an official Friends reunion, Entertainment Weekly brings us the great news that Lisa Kudrow has officially signed on to do a guest stint on Courteney Cox-Arquette‘s new hit sitcom Cougar Town!

It’s not an actual Friends reunion, but I’ll take it: Lisa Kudrow has signed on to guest star opposite ex-Friend Courteney Cox on Cougar Town, an ABC spokesperson confirms. “She’ll play a dermatologist that my character can’t stop going to even though [she's] mean to me,” Cox told tvguidemagazine.com. The Cox-Kudrow reunion episode will shoot next month and air in early 2010.

And this is how Cox described Kudow‘s character to TV Guide:

“If it all works out, she’ll play a dermatologist that my character can’t stop going to even though the doctor is mean to me.” Is it a Botox thing? The show’s writers are not exactly sure yet, says Cox, who’s also producing the show, “but whatever it is, she’s the best in town at what she does and I become addicted.”

It turns out that both Matthew Perry and Jennifer Aniston have been considered as future guest stars … this is what Courteney had to say about the prospect of having other former Friends castmates appear on the show:

“I did ask Matthew [Perry] if he’d play my boyfriend on the show,” she says, “but he thought it was a little too much after Chandler and Monica.” Then there’s Jennifer Aniston, whom Cox has remained closest with among the Friends stars. “I’d love for her to be on the show, too,” Cox says. “Obviously we can’t cast her so close to Lisa’s appearance but if there’s a great part for her, I’d send it right away. She’s younger than me so she can’t play my contemporary even though she did on Friends, but I think we can find something great for her to play.”

This is all very exciting stuff to mebbe look forward to … but for now, I’m perfectly content with having Phoebe and Monica together again … er, Lisa and Courteney, that is ;) The Friends reunion may never actually take place but in the meantime, we have Cougar Town to enjoy!

Filmin' new scenes for 'Cougar Town'
Courteney Cox-Arquette Shows Off Her Bikini Bod At The Beach

Hot mama Courteney Cox-Arquette, who stars in the amazingly funny Cougar Town on ABC, was spotted filming new scenes for her show at the Will Rogers State Beach in the Pacific Palisades here in SoCal yesterday. Court was proudly showing off her sexy bikini bod … behold:

Damn … she does look great. I am not afraid to admit that I find Cougar Town riotously funny and I really hope it does well because I’d love to see this show on the air for years to come. There are so many great characters on the show and I find the writing to be very, very funny … I laugh out loud during every ep I’ve seen thus far. I really love the trashy ex-husband Bobby Cobb (played by Brian Van Holt) and the son Travis Cobb (played by Dan Byrd) is amazing, too. Here’s hopin’ that Courteney and her bangin’ bod will keep viewers tuning in … I really love this show!!

On the set of her new ABC series
‘Cougar’ Courteney Cox-Arquette On The Prowl Again

Last weekend we got our first good look at Courteney Cox-Arquette in her return to network TV in her new ABC series Cougar Town … today we get to see more pics of the Cougar in action on the set of her show. It must be, like, impossible for Courteney to ever look bad … ever:

Courteney has always been a beautiful woman but is it just me or has she gotten a lot more sexy in her “advanced” age? I don’t care what age she is, she looks fantastic … and I guess that is the point of her new show. I’m not really all that excited about much of the new TV programming debuting this Fall but Cougar Town is deffo on my list. It’s great to have Mrs. Cox-Arquette back on the scene again.

Meow!!
Courteney Cox-Arquette Welcomes You To ‘Cougar Town’

In late July we saw photos of Courtney Cox-Arquette filming the first scenes from her new ABC series Cougar Town which is being heralded as her long-awaited return to network television (Dirt doesn’t count cuz it sucked so bad) … today we get to see some promo photos from the series that clearly shows that Courteney is one hot mama, deffo worth watching on TV from week to week. According to Court, the role she plays on Cougar Town is more her than Monica (her role on Friends):

It’s five years since she appeared in Friends, but to her fans Courteney Cox will forever be Monica Geller. So it may come as a shock to learn that the actress much prefers her latest role, as the star of Cougar Town. Courteney, who plays a man-eating divorcee, says: ‘I hope this show is a huge hit and that people love it. Because I like playing this character more than any character I’ve ever played.’ And she told the LA Times she prefers her new show to acting in Friends. ‘This show says what I think,’ she explained. In photos to promote the show mother-of-one Cox sits with her legs swung around a chair. Her toned figure looks decades younger than her 45 years. The comedy sees her star as Jules, a fortysomething single mother of a 17-year-old son. Fans will see her on the prowl for younger men as she tries to get back into the dating scene. Earlier this month, the star hinted that her Friends co-star and real-life best friend Jennifer Aniston may make a guest appearance in the ABC sitcom.

Damn, she does look great … but as hot as she looks in these photos, you have to see her in action. After the jump, check out one more promo photo for the show and check out a 3 minute preview video that gives a taste of what Cougar Town is all about …

On the prowl
Courteney Cox-Arquette Moves In To ‘Cougar Town’

Courteney Cox-Arquette is making her long-awaited return to network TV this Fall (her FX series Dirt doesn’t count so let’s just try and forget it ever happened) on a new ABC series called Cougar Town wherein she plays a “single mother exploring the dating scene after divorce”. Here are pics of Courteney and her hottie co-star Josh Hopkins filming new scenes for the series here in SoCal yesterday afternoon:

I gotta say … I love the thought of Courteney Cox-Arquette back on the small screen. Mebbe it’s seeing how amazing she was as Monica Gellar on Friends on a daily basis in re-runs but I think the world needs a lot more Cox-Arquette on TV! I love how the last pic looks SO MUCH like a Monica pose ;) To be honest, I can’t even hear the term “cougar” without rolling my eyes almost out of their sockets but I’m willing to give CCA a shot in this new role. If she keeps getting paired up with shirtless hunks like Mr. Hopkins here on a weekly basis, well, it’s the least I can do to try and support her return to network TV. I mean … who’s with me?

With or without Neve Campbell, 'Scream 4' is a go!
Confirmed! David & Courteney Cox-Arquette Have Signed On For ‘Scream 4’

Woot!! Great news for fans of the Scream movie franchise! Altho we learned a few weeks ago that Neve Campbell would NOT be appearing in a proposed 4th movie in the series, E! News‘s Marc Malkin is reporting that married couple David and Courteney Cox-Arquette have signed on to reprise their roles in the film!! It looks like Scream 4 is now officially on again:

It’s official! David Arquette and Courteney Cox have signed on to reunite with the Ghostface killer. “We are going to be doing Scream 4,” Arquette just told me from New York City, where he’s hanging out in plastic box over Madison Square Garden for Feeding America (more on that later). “Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct.” In the original horror trilogy, Arquette played Deputy Dewey Riley with Cox as a tabloid television reporter Gale Weathers. Rumors began several months ago that the two were in talks for the fourth installment. “I fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring [Dewey] back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it’s just going to be really fun,” Arquette said. “It’s just great.” While Williamson recently revealed that Neve Campbell has turned down the chance to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott, Arquette said, “I hope Neve does it. I really hope so.” As for a new storyline, Arquette laughed: “Kevin has sort of put out the broad strokes, but I don’t think I’m at liberty to share any of that.”

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! I LOVE the Scream series! While I have some worry that they may be beating a dead horse with another film, I’m relieved that Kevin Williamson will write and perhaps Wes Craven will direct. Having the Cox-Arquettes on board bodes very well for the film. I love that David and Courteney fell in love while making the Scream movies together … I’m sure this return to the franchise will be really fun for them. Neve Campbell better get her shizz straight and sign on to come back. Hopefully she’s just playing hardball and is workin’ on a big payday. Whatevs, they just need to get her back. This is great news!!! Who else is excited? Woot!!

The 15th annual celebration
‘Elle’ Magazine Celebrates ‘Women In Hollywood’

This past weekend we learned that Nicole Kidman would be receiving a special tribute from Hollywood legend Shirley MacLaine at the 15th annual Women In Hollywood Tribute event hosted by Elle magazine — and last night was the big night. Celebs of varying stature and caliber made their way out to The Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills, CA last night to partake of Elle magazine’s tribute to, in their estimation, the most worthy women in Hollywood. Here are a few pics from the event’s red carpet arrivals last night:

Nicole Kidman, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Lopez, Diane Keaton and Halle Berry joined dozens of other stars in a ballroom at the Four Seasons Hotel on Monday for Elle magazine’s 15th annual Women in Hollywood tribute, honoring seven noteworthy women in entertainment. Fonda served as an informal entertainment ambassador before the program, chatting up actress Kat Dennings and introducing Amber Tamblyn to Shirley MacLaine. Meanwhile, the evening’s host, Chelsea Handler, shared laughs with Jenny McCarthy and Cheryl Hines. Other guests included Kate Beckinsale, Courteney Cox, Eva Mendes, Angie Harmon and Cheryl Tiegs. Elle’s annual dinner pays tribute to women “who are telling our stories” in Hollywood, said editor Roberta Myers. This year’s honorees included Berry, Fonda, Kidman, Anne Hathaway, Sigourney Weaver, Isla Fisher and director Catherine Hardwicke — all of whom are featured in the magazine’s November issue. “Someday hopefully it won’t be necessary to allocate a special evening to celebrate where we are and how far we’ve come,” Weaver said. “Someday women writers, producers and crew members will be so commonplace, and roles and salaries for actresses will outstrip those for men, and pigs will fly.” Though things have improved for women, “we do have a long way to go,” she said. Hathaway said in today’s Hollywood “women are about so much more than how they look. I think it’s pretty remarkable that, at 25, I’m able to say that my role as a woman in Hollywood is purely as an artist, not a cause,” Hathaway said. “I’m free to play my characters as I imagine them, far beyond what size jeans they wear.” Fisher thanked “my baby daddy SBC” (Sacha Baron Cohen) and paid homage to Kidman, “who paved the way for all us Aussies.” MacLaine continued the praise. “Nicole Kidman has been a revelation to me, and it’s not easy for me to be revelated,” she said, calling Kidman “my star child.” Kidman thanked all the directors who “molded” her, particularly Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack. “They were men in Hollywood who loved women,” she said. Fonda thanked all the women in the house — and Hollywood itself. “Aren’t we glad we’re not bankers,” she said. “We are in the most fantastic business.”

I feel I must echo Sigourney Weaver‘s comments and am also very much looking forward to the day when events like this are no longer necessary. Hopefully the day will soon come when there’ll be no need to honor women in Hollywood on a singular night of tribute because they will be afforded the same tribute as their male counterparts every single day. I find it criminal that Johnny Depp (and no offense to him in any way) can demand $55 million dollars for a film role when women cannot garner the same pay. There is still a huge disparity between wages paid to men over women. We may have come a long way (baby) but there is still a long way to go yet. In any event, congrats and kudos to the women honored at last night’s event. It sounds like due tribute was paid to some very deserving women.

Why would you vote?

A whole slew of celebs have gotten together to appear in a PSA produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, will.i.am, Tobey Maguire and Forest Whitaker in an effort to encourage the American youth to register to vote by telling them not to vote. The vid is a lengthy 4 minutes long but is deffo worth watching in full:

An effective strategy? Or, a plea destined to fall on deaf ears? You decide.

Mayerston Go Public

After weeks of keepin’ their love on the downlow (well, as downlow as the could), Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer made their first public event appearance as a couple last night (with BFFs Courteney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette, who were celebrating their anniversary) at the 2nd Annual OmniPeace Kitson Event which was held at STK and sponsored by Kitson. OmniPeace has been raising money for the Millennium Promise organization which seeks to help eradicate extreme poverty in Africa by 2025. Here are a few pics of Mayerston with the Cox-Arquettes and Jen and Court with Mary Fanaro (the founder of OmniPeace):

Jen Aniston and John Mayer went to their first public event together Thursday night. They joined Courteney Cox and David Arquette — who celebrated their nine-year anniversary that night — at a humanitarian event at L.A. steakhouse STK. A witness tells Usmagazine.com that Aniston and Mayer “had their arms around each other. She was rubbing his back and whispering into his ear. They were touching each other non-stop all night.” The bash was in honor of Jeffrey Sachs — who is known for his charity work with Angelina Jolie and is pals with Aniston’s ex Brad Pitt. (It was hosted by Mary Fanaro, founder of humanitarian organization OmniPeace, and sponsored by Kitson.)

Mayerston have been spending a lot of time with the Cox-Arquettes lately (they even BBQed together with them last weekend) so it makes sense that they would go public, A.) with their BFFs and B.) at a charity event for one of Courteney‘s fave charities. Here are a couple pics of the elated Jen and John making their exit from the event last night:

Clearly, the couple are head over heels in lurve with one another ;) To be fair, it can’t be easy having to deal with all of the photogs everywhere you turn … I’d prolly be annoyed too. But, such is the price of fame. It’s kinda hard to feel too sorry for celebs who have difficulty contending with the intense fame that they’ve made a career (and a luxurious life) out of.
