Word is out that Snoop Dogg is launching his own tobacco cigar line called, Executive Branch. I have to be honest when I first heard this news, I was pretty surprised. I haven’t heard of any celebs or stars putting their name to a tobacco product in YEARS. Smoking might still be as popular as ever but branding, marketing and sponsorship of tobacco has undergone some pretty massive changes over the last few years. This is certainly an interesting one…

Uh oh, looks like rapper Snoop Dogg (née Cordozar Calvin Boadus) got himself into some trouble with the law in Texas this weekend after drug-sniffing dogs gave his tour bus the once over. According to TMZ, the Texas border patrol arrested Snoop for marijuana possession after the NARC dogs discovered a cache of weed on his tour bus. To his benefit, Snoop admitted that the found marijuana belonged to him because he has a prescription for medical marijuana … in California. Snoop Dog really is such a joker and we just love him for it! The rapper showed up on daytime tv’s, The Price is Right, today and raised $72,585 for his charity, the Snoop Youth Football League. Who would have thought a rapper and daytime television would come together? He mightn’t be the most hardcore of rappers for it, and might take some slack from them for it, but I think it is just so damn lovable.

Very sad news to pass along today … West Coast rapper Nathaniel Nate Dogg Dwayne Hale passed away yesterday at the age of 41 of causes not yet known or reported. The Press-Telegram in Long Beach, CA, Nate Dogg‘s hometown paper, was the first to report the rappers death but within minutes, news had spread to other outlets. Nate Dogg‘s very good friend and collaborator Snoop Dogg took to his official Twitter profile to eulogize his late friend … a friend who was taken far too soon.

Last month we got our first listen of the new Snoop Dogg single titled Wet (which he supposedly wrote for Prince William‘s bachelor party) and today we get our first look at the music video for the clip. Naturally, with a song titled Wet, there are quite a few scantily clad women getting, well, wet so … if that sounds like your thing, you’re gonna wanna check out the music video in full.

Snoop Dogg teamed up with Pepsi Max to star in a new promo video for the company that features the rapper reading his own version of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. As you might imagine, the classic holiday tale is updated with Snoop‘s trademark flair and, naturally, includes product placement by Pepsi.

Yesterday we learned from Snoop Dogg himself that he wrote a song for Prince William‘s upcoming bachelor party and today we get to hear the melodious tune for ourselves. Snoop Dogg has made available a new song titled Wet that he claims was written for Prince Wills but I suspect that really isn’t the case … unless Wills is planning on having a very raunchy, very wet bachelor party:

Well, here’s one thing Prince William can cross off his wedding to-do list. Thanks to Snoop Dogg, the royal groom-to-be is set on at least a partial playlist for his bachelor party (known in the U.K. as a “stag party”). On Tuesday, the rapper released “Wet,” a single intended specifically for the Prince’s bash. The song, available on the rapper’s Web site is described in a press release as “an anthem” for the royal stag party, “and all bachelor parties around the world to follow.” “When I heard the royal family wanted to have me perform in celebration of Prince William’s marriage, I knew I had to give them a little something,” Snoop Dogg says in the release (though there is no official word on the validity of his requested performance). “‘Wet’ is the perfect anthem for Prince William or any playa to get the club smokin’.” ‘Wet’ is the second single off the rapper’s upcoming album, Doggumentary Music, which drops in March.

It looks like EVERYONE is getting excited for the wedding of Prince William of Wales to his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton … everyone including Snoop Dogg. Snoop has issued a press release announcement today letting the world know that he wrote a song for Prince William‘s upcoming bachelor party. The song is called Wet. Read on:

Um …. yeah. While I would love for any song to get Prince Wills to “get the club smokin’”, I find it very hard to envision. Still … if anyone can turn William into a pimp, it’s Snoop Dogg. I can’t wait to hear what Wet sounds like … can you?

In celebration of the late Michael Jackson‘s birthday yesterday, Spike Lee organized the second annual Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson concert celebration at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NYC. Rappers Snoop Dogg and Warren G were among the performers at yesterday’s fete … here are a few photos from the 2nd annual event:

The good news is that Spike’s Lee’s MJ tribute, “Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson” is going down again this Sunday. The even better news is that Spike called it the “2nd annual” event, meaning we can mostly likely expect the Kings County tribute to the King of Pop year after year. Last years event at Prospect Park’s Nethermead was a little bit of shangri-la: people danced the day away as DJ Spinna pulled together a block-rocking tribute that kept tens of thousands of New Yorkers moving and grooving. MJ impersonators were in abundance as a New Yorkers of every age and stripe came together in celebration of what would have been Michael’s 52nd birthday. It was a day you wouldn’t want to miss and it should be off the wall again this Sunday. “Tell your friends, tell everybody,” Spike said in a video announcement. “You don’t have to be from Brooklyn. You don’t even have to be from New York. People are going to be coming from all over the world.”

To be honest, I didn’t hear about very many birthday celebrations for the late King of Pop so I’m glad to know that Lee plans on making the Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson celebration a yearly event. On Saturday we got to see photos of Superman Returns star Brandon Routh and his Dexter actress wife Courtney Ford chillin’ with the cast of the new Cirque du Soleil show Viva Elvis at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV and I’m guessing Snoop Dogg heard about what a great time they had at the show and decided to take his family to see it as well. Snoop and his family celebrated his daughter’s 11th birthday at last night’s performance of Viva Elvis in LV:

As you can see, the entire cast of Viva Elvis wanted to pose for a photo with the Snoop D-O double G and, I understand, were more than happy to sing Happy Birthday to his daughter last night. Snoop declared that the performance of Jailhouse Rock was his fave and was quoted as saying as he left last night’s Viva Elvis show — “Man, this was a defining moment in Snoop history!” I cannot WAIT to see this show myself … this added endorsement by Snoop Dogg is just the icing on the cake for me. I will see this show sometime soon … I cannot wait.
