Watch: Conan O’Brien Officiates A Same-Sex Wedding Ceremony

Congratulations are in order for Conan costume designer Scott Cronick and his partner David Gorshein because the men were happily married in NYC, NY last night … where same-sex marriage is legal here in the US. What is even more special, I think, is that the men were married LIVE on national television … by none other than Conan O’Brien himself. Conan got himself ordained to legally marry couples in NY and married Scott and David as his first couple. Check out video of the sweet wedding ceremony below.

Conan O’Brien Really Knows How To Rock Jeggings

Earlier this week, on his TBS late night talk show Conan, Conan O’Brien chatted with Project Runway guru Tim Gunn about Fashion and the subject, apparently, turned to the topic of jeggings (jean leggings). It turns out that Conan was so taken with the conversation that he decided to wear a pair of jeggings to show the world how that particular article of clothing looks on a man of his stature. In case you missed it, here’s what Conan O’Brien looks like while wearing jeggings:

It’s not unusual to see a celebrity rocking the latest fashion trend, however absurd. But U.S. late-night talkshow host Conan O’Brien raised eyebrows with his decision to don a pair of jeggings. The legwear, stretchy leggings made to look like acid-wash jeans, are more normally seen on female stars … On 6ft 4in Conan’s long legs they simply looked bizarre. He donned the jeggings after being told by fashion guru Tim Gunn that they were the latest thing in male fashion. ‘Men don’t wear jeggings,’ Conan said initially. ‘What if I wore, for a whole show, what if I wore jeggings one night? Seriously?’ After some thought the idea seemed to gain appeal, with Conan telling his laughing audience that they were, in fact, ‘incredibly comfortable’. On his show, Conan told his audience: ‘I have a motto on this show. If I say I’m gonna do something, I do it.’ He then strutted around the stage. But the 47-year-old’s reaction wasn’t all positive. ‘I feel like I’m being molested,’ he added later.

I love Conan O’Brien so much. So, so much … jeggings and all. Is it wrong to admit that he looks, er, impressive in this form-fitting legwear? So … what does Tim Gunn think of Conan‘s foray into the fabulous world of jeggings? After the jump, watch video of Conan in his jeggings and read Tim‘s thoughts on Conan‘s fashion fowardness …

His last day off
Conan O’Brien Enjoys A Lazy Sunday With His Family

Conan O’Brien‘s new late night talk show Conan will debut on TBS TONIGHT at 11PM ET/PT but before he kicks off another successful late night TV run today, Conan spent some downtime with his children here in SoCal yesterday afternoon. Conan and his children Neve and Beckett made their way to Evett’s Model Shop in Santa Monica, CA to pick up a fun science kit to play with together … here are a couple photos from their fun excursion together:

The O’Briens purchased the Smithsonian Mega Science Lab and one can only imagine all the fun science experiments they did together last night as a family. Conan officially goes back to work today so it’s nice to see that he enjoyed his last day of unemployment with his kids.

In other related Conan O’Brien news, he has been giving away 1,000 free t-shirts a day for the past 10 days to promote the debut of his new late night talk show. Today, on the final day of the giveaway, I *finally* won a t-shirt:

This shirt features a very cool Conan Pale Whale that was designed by the artist who created the Fail Whale image for Twitter. I cannot wait to rock this t-shirt when it arrives … and I really can’t wait to see Conan O’Brien back on late night TV tonight!! Woot!!

Conan O’Brien Talks To ‘Playboy’ Magazine

Conan O’Brien, who will premiere his new TBS late night talk show Conan on Monday November 8, gives the featured interview in the new issue of Playboy magazine. While Conan‘s appearance in Playboy does NOT include any nudie pics of the ginger comic, it does feature quite a bit of that Conan O’Brien charm that has endeared him to millions anxiously awaiting his return to late night TV. Here are a few excerpts from Conan‘s new Playboy magazine interview:

“I’m going for eight months on the air. All I want to do is break my Tonight Show record,” says Conan O’Brien when talking about goals for his new show in Playboy’s December Interview (on newsstands and available HERE on Friday, November 12). “I’m a guy who wants to say I did more push-ups today than I did the day before, and the good news is, I did only one push-up yesterday.” After losing one of the most coveted jobs in comedy when NBC pulled the plug on Late Night, Conan went out with class by thanking the network, along with his staff, friends, family, and fans. It seems that his good spirits and positive attitude bought him many additional inquisitive viewers (ratings skyrocketed during his last few shows), an unofficial Facebook group dedicated to “Coco,” and the greatest prize of all—his new show Conan, premiering Monday, November 8 on TBS. Playboy Contributing Editor Rob Tannenbaum caught up with O’Brien at his Burbank office, so new that it had little more than a desk, a few chairs, and a poster of his sidekick Andy Richter. “When I commented on the lack of décor,” Tannenbaum says, “Conan’s answer was, ‘Everything in this office is designed to come down quickly, in case there’s trouble and we need to get out of here.’” In the Interview, O’Brien talks about the shortcomings of his Irish heritage, paying people to watch his show, his need to please, and his old NBC cohort Jay Leno. Following are select quotes from the Interview:

On his impassionate parting Tonight Show speech, and whether he is bitter after the whole experience: “I wanted to end on an optimistic note. I thought it could end up being the most important moment of my television career. It still could be…I have had too many good things happen in my career to end on any kind of bitter note. I’m just saying this to you; we’re alone in this office, and I don’t have to say this: I am an incredibly fortunate person…And as crazy as this sounds, my career with NBC was overwhelmingly positive until this…The entertainment business has an amazing way of turning really lucky people into bitter, angry, rage-filled, jealous, resentful wretches who can’t believe they got screwed. Some things have worked out great for me, some things haven’t. You keep going…Doing those last Tonight Shows was a high. A lot of people tuned in, and I was really proud of what I was able to make in that situation. So this was good, this was bad, this was ugly, this was beautiful, this was f*cked-up, this was sublime. It was cherry, it was vanilla, it was frogurt, it was mocha chocolate chip.”

On how close his new studio is to Jay Leno’s, and whether or not they bump into each other: “We’re in Burbank, and NBC is not far away…I think if I worked out and had help with hydraulics we could hit it with a tennis ball. [Leno is] a guy you hear coming a long way off. There aren’t many three-cylinder engines in California that run on peat moss. And we hang out in different circles, so I don’t think we’ll be bumping into each other.”

On inviting Jay Leno on his new show as a guest: “He can come as the musical guest, because that I want to see. No one knows he has an operatic range [sings as Jay Leno]. No, there are certain things I will not do, regardless of the price.”

Conan O’Brien Makes A Surprise Visit To ‘The George Lopez Show’

Conan O’Brien, who will be premiering his new late night talk show Conan on TBS this coming Monday November 8, made a surprise visit to The George Lopez Show last night to do a little comedy bit with Lopez during his opening monologue:

Conan made a surprise visit to George Lopez and stopped by “Lopez Tonight” to say hi and to speak in his native tongue, Spanish and German. The celebration continued with a traditional Mariachi band serenade and a German tuba player as they toast to the new late-night lineup beginning Monday, November 8 when Conan join TBS at 11:00 PM ET/PT and “Lopez Tonight” will begin its second-season at Midnight on TBS.

Oh man, you can just tell … Conan is going to have a blast with his show on TBS. He and George Lopez seem to have a great working rapport and I would just LOVE to see the team of O’Brien & Lopez take the late night talk show world by storm. Conan O’Brien Does ‘Rolling Stone’ Magazine

Late night talk show host and all around funnyman Conan O’Brien, whose new TBS talk show Conan will premiere in just a few short weeks, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue Rolling Stone magazine. In his coverstory interview, Conan opens up about the depression he felt in the wake of losing his hosting gig on The Tonight Show and explains what his life was like after he completed his nationwide Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour. Here is our first look at Conan on the cover of RS mag and some excerpts from his coverstory interview:

In July, shortly after his Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour wrapped up, Conan O’Brien began visiting the set of his new talk show, at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California. For various reasons, the show had not been staffed yet, nor had the set been built, so on those days, O’Brien would occasionally pause en route to his office and stand alone in a giant, empty warehouse … O’Brien had lost his dream job as host of The Tonight Show in January, at a speed (seven months!) almost as humiliating as the circumstances of his departure (ousted for Jay Leno, which is the comedy-world equivalent of being left at the altar for a cast member of Jersey Shore). “My wife says those first couple of months, the thing I said most often was, ‘Wait a minute, what just happened?’” O’Brien recalls. “Those weeks after the tour, where not much was going on, Conan was miserable,” confirms his wife, Liza Powel, a blunt and dryly funny former advertising executive with whom O’Brien has two children. “That was when he was the most depressed.” Powel says she had “all sorts of grand designs” about keeping her idled spouse busy: He would be responsible for camp drop-offs, he would cook dinner at least one night a week. None of which ended up happening. O’Brien did go for long bicycle rides, and read lots of history books. At a parents’ night at their son Beckett’s preschool, there was a stack of volunteer sign-up sheets, and O’Brien, who still had too much time on his hands, became overly ambitious and started signing up for everything: “Oh, I’d love to come talk to the kids about natural history!” “He was in the house all the time,” Powel recalls. “I said, ‘This can’t last – it’ll drive us crazy!’ Literally every 10 minutes, he’d poke his head in the room and say, ‘I don’t wanna bother you, but do you know where the Band-Aids are?’ ‘I don’t wanna bother you, but do you know how to use the phone?’ He was so sweet about it, and I felt like such a jerk. But seriously, I almost rented an office for him.” The morning after O’Brien’s final Tonight Show – his second-highest- rated episode ever, quadrupling his average nightly viewership – he and Powel drove up to a resort in Montecito. “I felt like I’d just been in a car accident,” O’Brien says. “Like a crazy mix of elation, anger, sorrow. Confusion was a big one.” That night, when they entered the dining room and the other guests stood up and applauded, O’Brien says, “It almost made me cry.”

This Rolling Stone excerpt continues after the jump, where you will also find a photo from Conan‘s RS photospread as well as behind the scene video from the shoot …
