Another sad day for our dear Britney
Britney Spears Leaves Court In Tears

Earlier this week Britney Spears surprised a select group of fans by attending an MTV-sponsored screening event for her new documentary Britney Spears: For The Record (which debuts on MTV on November 30) … but was noticeably uncomfortable at the event and ended up leaving early, opting out of taking questions from the audience. On Friday afternoon, Britney and her father Jamie Spears made a surprise visit to the LA County Courthouse reportedly to meet with the judge overseeing her conservatorship case presumably to talk with him about her upcoming plans to promote her new album Circus (ie. her plans for a world tour next year). It would appear that things did not go Britney‘s way because the poor dear was seen leaving the courthouse in tears, being comforted by her father as they drove away:

Britney Spears made another cameo in the midst of her comeback – this time at a Los Angeles courtroom. Spears appeared unexpectedly for a hearing in her ongoing power of attorney case. A court spokesman said after the hearing that Spears appeared to give an update on her upcoming album, Circus, and details of her tour and other promotions. Her father, Jamie Spears, has had control over his 26-year-old daughter’s personal and financial affairs since February. The court made the arrangement permanent last month, but Spears can petition to end the arrangement. The court spokesman says she did not make that request. As part of that deal, her father and attorney gained greater control over her professional career. Jamie Spears appeared in court with his daughter and emerged from a courtroom with her after a two-hour closed session. Spears has not appeared in court during months of proceedings, but has been represented by a court-appointed lawyer.

It is absolutely impossible to know what went on in that 2-hour closed session but it would seem that things didn’t turn out the way she had hoped … she really did look upset as she left the court. I understand, tho, that Friday’s meeting with the judge was their first ever … up until that day, Britney and the judge had not met face-to-face. Perhaps the reason for the hearing was so that they could speak one-on-one? In any event, this is the second time this week that Britney looked to be having a rough time with things going on in her life, related to her musical comeback. While I still worry that she might not yet be totally ready for the coming onslaught of media attention that comes with the release of a new album (and world tour!!!), I just hope that she will be able to weather the storm successfully and without incident.

And speaking of that coming onslaught, a new promo poster advertising Britney‘s new album Circus (due out on December 2) has been released. After the jump, check it out …

And she wants YOU to be the first to know
Britney Spears Has A Secret

Britney Spears has launched a new widget today where fans can sign up to be the first to know … a secret:

Now, I have *no idea* what the secret could be but in about 2 weeks, we’ll be finding out so I suggest all y’all Britney fans sign up to be alerted when our dear Britney does make her announcement.

Yesterday was a pretty exciting day for overzealous Britney Spears fans … her new album, Circus, which isn’t due for release until December 2 leaked it’s way onto the Internets yesterday afternoon/evening (you may recall that some images from the CD booklet also leaked this weekend). Apparently, someone got a hold of a promo copy of the album and started to distribute the songs one at a time thruout the evening:

Unfortunately, I cannot divulge where these tracks were leaked to but I’ve been getting lots of emails from Pink readers who have the tracks so the songs are out there. I think it’s important to remind y’all that we all still have to buy the album when it comes out on December 2. This album may be some of Brit‘s best work ever and she needs to be rewarded with our money ;) As far as I can tell, every single track from the album — including the bonus songs Rock Me In, Phonography and Amnesia — have been leaked. The only songs that have not been leaked (to my knowledge) are Trouble (the US iTunes exclusive bonus track) and Quicksand (the UK iTunes exclusive bonus track). But, again, I urge y’all to save your pennies for December 2 so that we can all buy the album and make Circus debut in the #1 spot on the Billboard album chart. OH — and don’t forget to sign up for the Britney Secret announcement … I know I’m dying to know what it could be.

Bedazzling!
Britney Spears’s ‘Circus’ Album Artwork Leaks

Pink reader Tori sends in a bunch of photos of the CD booklet artwork for Britney Spears‘s new album Circus (which isn’t due for release until December 2). Here are a couple of the pics that will be included in the booklet … including a close-up of Britney from the album’s backcover photo (which we got to see on Friday):

I do like the top photo … but I’m still a bit creeped out by the backcover photo. I had to cut out the scary-ass little clown, tho. I’m having a hard time with him. After the jump, check out a few more photos from the Circus CD booklet …

The 'Circus' backcover artwork revealed
Britney Spears Shows Her Backside

On Halloween day we got our first look at the new cover artwork for Britney Spears‘s new album Circus and today we get to see what the album’s backside will look like. UK store Tesco has uploaded the backside of the album artwork on their online site, which I now am passing along to all y’all. Here is the back of the Circus album artwork for both the standard and deluxe versions of the album:

You can see that both albums will have the same tracklisting except that the deluxe version will have the UK bonus tracks Rock Me In and Phonography … as well as a bonus DVD of “the making of the Circus album including an exclusive interview with Britney”. Additionally, the backcover artwork features A SCARY ASS MINI-CLOWN offering our dear Britney a birthday cake (the album will be released on her birthday, December 2) as she reclines on a bed, presumably in a circus wagon. I mean … I’m not a big fan of clowns in general but this little guy is kinda extra freaky. BUT, of the Circus promo pics that we’ve seen thus far … this one is the most circus-y. I think I like this photo (scary clown, notwithstanding) … what do y’all think?

Plus official tracklist & next single announcement
Britney Spears’s Official ‘Circus’ Album Artwork

Earlier today I posted a rumored tracklist for Britney Spears‘s new album Circus which, it turns out, is mostly wrong. Britney.com has just been updated with the full official tracklist and the official album artwork:

Britney SpearsCircus

01. Womanizer
02. Circus
03. Out From Under
04. Kill The Lights
05. Shattered Glass
06. If U Seek Amy
07. Unusual You
08. Blur
09. Mmm Papi
10. Mannequin
11. Lace and Leather
12. My Baby

Bonus Track:

13. Radar

Compared to the tracklist posted earlier today, only 4 of the songs match up (Womanizer, Circus, Kill the Lights and Mannequin). There are no writing/production credits listed with this official tracklist so we’re gonna have to wait on that info. I’m not sure how I feel about the album artwork. It deffo has that “circus” feel to it (ie. the old posters from the heyday of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Baily) and she does look pretty but … there’s no pizzazz for me. In all honesty, I’ve never been impressed with Britney‘s album artwork. I think my fave cover is the Britney cover (but only because I got the Japanese import that had glitter all over the cover). What do y’all think … is this a dope album cover or not?

UPDATE: BritneySpears.com has just announced that Britney‘s second single off her new album will be the title track Circus:

OMG!!! There’s been a lot of buzz on the Internets about what Britney’s next single will be and we can reveal it will be…… CIRCUS!!!!!!!!!! We’re told the song is an up-tempo track and was produced by Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco. Britney’s up tempo tracks are my fave!

Which makes total sense, judging by the look of the costumes worn by her dancers on the set of her next music video, Circus looks like it’s gonna be a fun track and music video. Woot! I love all this new Britney news that is comin’ out today … don’t you?

Rumored tracklist hits the Internets
Britney Spears’s ‘Circus’ Is Comin’ To Town

Britney.com (one of two official websites for Britney Spears) has been updated with a new promo poster to advertise the release of Britney‘s new album, Circus, which is due to hit stores on December 2 … check it out:

From Britney.com: Before y’all start freaking, this is NOT the Circus album cover, but it’s (almost) just as cool. It’s the first (of many) promotional items you’ll be seeing — in record stores, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. I don’t know about you, but I got really excited when I saw it. The design is HOT.

We are still more than a month away from the album’s release so I’m sure there will be other promotional items coming our way. The tracklist for the album has NOT been officially released but Pink reader Mick sends in a rumored tracklist for the disc (with producing credits for each track) that sounds plausible but, again, is not confirmed. After the jump, check out the rumored tracklisting for Circus

Album is titled 'Circus', first single is titled 'Womanizer'
Britney Spears To Release New Album On December 2

Jive/Zomba Records has just announced that Britney Spears will be releasing her new album, titled Circus, on December 2, 2008 (her birthday) with the disc’s first single, titled Womanizer, scheduled to be released to radio on September 22!!!!

Britney Spears has arranged a wonderful birthday present for herself: her sixth studio album, Circus, due for release Dec. 2 – the day she turns 27, her label announced Monday. Coming so soon after her triple victory – for video of the year, best female video and best pop video for “Piece of Me” – at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sept. 7, Circus follows up her well-received 2007 album Blackout and continues the upward spiral the sometimes-troubled pop star has been experiencing. The Outsyders, described by Spears’s label, Jive records, as an up-and-coming Atlanta production team, have produced the first single from the album, “Womanizer,” which will drop Sept. 22. Other producers and writers with a hand in the album, according to Jive, include Dr. Luke (writer-producer of the title track, “Circus”), Danja, Max Martin, Bloodshy & Avant and Guy Sigsworth – who’s collaborated with such other artists as Madonna, Alanis Morissette and Bjork.

OMG!!! We finally have a release date!!!!! OMG!!! She’s working with Max Martin and Bloodshy & Avant again!!!! OMG!!! This is amazingly exciting news … let the comeback commence, y’all :)
