Xtina Aguilera Likes To Par-tay

Apparently
Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Here are a few pics of Ms. Xtina Aguilera being poured into her waiting car after a long night of whooping it up at the Chateau Marmont here in LA earlier this week. I’m not entirely sure but, it looks like Xtina might be a wee bit inebriated in these photos:

I mean … she could’ve just been tired and drowsy but … she could’ve also be smashed out of her mind. Whatever was going on with Xtina, I hope she had herself a good night … and a puke-free morning after.

Xtina Aguilera Defends Marriage Equality

Expresses disdain for the passage of Prop 8 in a new MTV interview
Friday, November 7th, 2008

Pop star Xtina Aguilera has gone on the record this week to express her dismay that marriage equality was defeated in the State of California this past Tuesday. Xtina sat down with MTV and talked at length in a new interview about her disapproval of the legalization of discrimination in California:

On Thursday, pop star Christina Aguilera joined Fall Out Boy and other celebrities who’ve spoken out against Proposition 8. “Last night, there was a whole rally that I saw for Prop. 8,” she told MTV News. “A lot of people came out with their signs, and I think [Prop. 8] is discrimination and I don’t understand how people can be so closed-minded and so judgmental. We chose an African-American president, and it means so much … [it's] a time in history of great change and open-mindedness. Why is this any different? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Why you would put so much money behind something [aimed at] stopping from people loving each other and bonding together? I just don’t understand it. It’s hard for me to grasp. But I would’ve been out there with my rally sign as well.” A few moments later, she added, “Mormons aren’t gonna buy my album but, you know, what are you gonna do?”

Her interview with MTV comes as another night of protesters took to the streets of California to oppose the attempt to strip away same-sex marriage rights. The MTV report continues:

Demonstrators took to the streets of Los Angeles for a second straight night Thursday to protest Tuesday’s passage of California’s Proposition 8, a ballot measure amending the state’s constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry, which passed by a 52 percent margin. The measure supersedes a state Supreme Court ruling that briefly gave same-sex couples the right to wed. The Associated Press reported that more than 2,000 people convened outside the gates of a local Mormon temple to condemn the church’s role in getting the measure passed. Protestors contend leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spent millions in television ads and mailings in an effort to encourage its followers to vote in favor of the proposition. The protests continued in the face of questions about whether civil attempts to overturn the prohibition could succeed. The passage also puts the 18,000 same-sex marriages performed in California over the past four months in question. Some fear those marriages will be nullified, although supporters of the ban claim they won’t seek to invalidate marriages already performed. Demonstrators converged outside a temple in the city’s Westwood section Thursday night and made their way toward the western end of Los Angeles, chanting, “Separate church and state” and “What do we want? Equal rights,” according to the AP. Two people were reportedly arrested following a confrontation between the crowd and a man in a pickup truck, who was displaying a banner supporting the measure. One demonstrator ended up with a bloody nose in the fracas; seven people were detained during Wednesday’s protests. Three legal challenges were filed by gay-marriage proponents Wednesday, arguing that the measure was actually a dramatic revision of California’s constitution rather than a simple amendment; constitutional revisions must first pass the state’s legislature before going to the voters.

It’s clear that many people are still outraged by the passage of Proposition 8 here in California and are doing everything they can to work toward its repeal. I commend the people willing to actively participate in the struggle to achieve equality for all, not just in this State but across the country for all minorities who are discriminated against. Again, this fight for equality is far from over … the struggle will not end until marriage equality can be enjoyed by all citizens of the US, in all 50 States. Celebs Voted!

They're just like us!
Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Woot! A new day has dawned here in America … and the World … and while there is still much to celebrate, there is also much work to get done in the aftermath. It’s also time to get back to the goss ;) Yesterday I created a photo album of friends and Pink readers proudly showing off the I Voted stickers (or handmade signs) that they were given after they voted yesterday and today we get to see a whole bunch of photos of celebs showing off their I Voted stickers, too. Americans came out in record numbers to vote yesterday and those numbers included celebs … here are a few of them who exercised their right to vote yesterday:

Depending on where the celebs live, these photos were snapped in NYC and here in LA. Here is another batch of celebs who came out to vote yesterday:

I’m pretty sure that some of these celebs were voting for President for the first time in their lives and it seems pretty safe to assume that the lion’s share of them added to President-elect Barack Obama’s historic win.

I’ve been getting emails and messages from around the World of folks cheering on Obama’s victory as news of his election as the 44th President of the United States of America made headlines around the world. Here are a few of the UK papers splashing the news across their covers:

David tells me that newsstands all over NYC are selling out of copies of The New York Times, etc. so I would suggest that y’all snap up your local newspapers — wherever in the country you are — and put them away for posterity. I’m just sayin’ ;)

Madonna was in concert in San Diego, CA last night and was on stage when news of Obama’s win was announced … she happily broke the news to her assembled audience and talked a little bit about the momentous nature of the win while on stage. After the jump, check out video of her impromptu speech …

Xtina Aguilera’s Latest Batch Of Promo Pics

Looks like it's goin' downhill from here
Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Earlier this week, Xtina Aguilera finally released the new music video for her new single Keeps Gettin’ Better to very little fanfare. After delaying the vid for some time after the single hit the airwaves, Xtina released (in my opinion) a pretty weak, unexciting vid. I was a bit bummed that the vid wasn’t very good, IMHO, especially since I quite like the song very much and have been diggin’ on some of the promo materials that she has been releasing in the past few weeks. Today we get a new batch of promo pics and, I have to say, these are the worst of the bunch. While I felt her previous promo pics were sexy and cute, I think these pics are neither of those two things:

Damn the red lipstick. It just makes her look cheap … I just don’t get it. The top B&W pic is the nicest of this batch but the slits in her top that expose parts of her breasts are just tacky as hell. These pics look more like the old Xtina that I’m not particularly fond of. I much prefer the less garish, more fun Xtina that we’ve been seeing around lately. I’m really not trying to be a hater but the “sultry” thing she tries to pull off ends up looking more trampy, I think. I dunno … am I totally wrong? Is this the Xtina that people want?

First Look: Xtina Aguilera, ‘Keeps Gettin’ Better’

"Some days I'm a superbore"
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

After giving us a sneak preview behind-the-scenes look over the weekend, Xtina Aguilera has finally released the music video for her new single Keeps Gettin’ Better, the first track released from her new Greatest Hits compilation Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits. Choosing to forego the traditional music video release on MTV, Xtina decided to premiere the vid online on the Facebook iLike app:

Now that TRL is ending its 10-year run on MTV, Christina Aguilera [took] to the Web to premiere her new music video for her hit single, “Keeps Gettin’ Better,” on Monday afternoon. The singer, 27, chose iLike.com, a social music Web site and Facebook application, to release her new video. In it, Aguilera travels through time – and costumes – to the present day. “I really enjoyed making the video,” Aguilera says. “Being an artist who likes to play around with different looks, it was a lot of fun to portray various characters within the same shoot.” The song will be featured on her greatest hits CD, which includes 10 of her best singles and another brand new song, “Dynamite.” It will be available exclusively at Target stores on Nov. 11.

Sadly, I have to admit that the music vid is NOT as cool as it sounds in the description. Even the behind-the-scenes preview was misleading … I am really not very impressed with the video at all. We know from the preview pics that Xtina did a lot of “green screen” work … and by the look of the final product, it appears that she shot the whole video in one afternoon. There isn’t much action at all. I’m sorry, IMHO it’s kinda sucky. I don’t understand … Xtina has enjoyed a decade of hits and this song is actually very good. Her live performance of the track at the 2008 MTV VMAs was HOT! This vid is not. What do y’all think? Thumbs up or middle fingers out?

Xtina Aguilera Gets ‘Promo’-ted

The new promo pics keep gettin' better
Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Here are a couple new promo pics from Xtina Aguilera which were shot in order to promote the release of her new Greatest Hits compilation Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits which hits Target stores exclusively on November 11. Check ‘em out:

You may recall that in the last batch of Xtina promo photos to make their way to the InterWeb, she was posing as a futuristic astronaut and with a big pink panther. While I thought those photos were kinda cool, I think I prefer these photos to those. I love the glasses and the old skool telephones one the best. These pics still look very much like Xtina pics (especially the supersexy black and white one) but with a less garish, toned down color palette. She looks great. These pics are hot, yes?
