"A Message From Cheryl To Her Soldiers"
Cheryl Cole Speaks Publicly For The First Time Since Being Fired From ‘The X Factor’

Early this month we learned officially that singer Cheryl Cole was replaced by Nicole Scherzinger as judge on the US version of The X Factor (due to premiere on Fox this Fall) reportedly due to the fact that producers feared that the US audience would have difficulty understanding Cole‘s Geordie accent. Just one day after news of Cole‘s axing was announced, Simon Cowell spoke out publicly about the decision to fire Cheryl from X Factor. Since that time, Cheryl Cole has been silent … but yesterday, she posted a message to her fans on her official blog to finally speak out and give a personal update in the wake of the X Factor debacle. Click below to read her statement in full.

Today we are hearing from Simon Cowell, the man in charge, about the decision to axe Cheryl from the show. Simon is apologizing for the “anguish and embarrassment” that this incident has caused Cheryl Cole but he insists he was only trying to protect her … or some nonsense like that. New Reports Suggest She Not Be Axed
Will Cheryl Cole Appear On US ‘X Factor’ After All?

A couple of weeks ago we learned the somewhat shocking news that British popstar Cheryl Cole was axed from the US version of the singing competition series The X Factor reportedly due to the fact that producers feared that the US audience would not be able to understand her thick British accent. It has been widely reported that US popstar Nicole Scherzinger would replace Cheryl as a judge on the show. Today we learn that Cheryl might not be leaving the show after all. It turns out that Cole‘s contract stipulates that she must be paid $1.5 million whether she appears on the show or not so now we are hearing that producers might keep her on the show just to get their money’s worth.

TMZ Reports
Cheryl Cole Reportedly OUT As US ‘X Factor’ Judge, Nicole Scherzinger Will Replace Her

Earlier this month, after all casting drama had been settled, we learned finally that Simon Cowell selected original judge Cheryl Cole (from the original UK version of The X Factor) to join music mogul LA Reid and former American Idol judge Paula Abdul to help him judge the US version of The X Factor. Singer Nicole Scherzinger had been hired to co-host the show with Brit Steve Jones. TMZ is now reporting that Cheryl is OUT as X Factor judge and has been replaced on the judging panel by Nicole. According to their sources, Cheryl‘s thick British accent is the reason she has been dropped as a judge because producers feared the US audience would not be able to understand her!

Paula Abdul Joins Simon Cowell At ‘The X Factor’ Auditions In SoCal

Yesterday we learned the “official” news that Paula Abdul signed on to be the 4th judge on the US version of the music competition show The X Factor and today we not only get to read the official official press release announcement about Paula‘s casting but we also get to see the first photos of the X Factor judges — all of them — showing up for the first round of auditions for the show here in SoCal yesterday afternoon. As you can see from the photos below, ti was a happy reunion for Simon and Paula … she was so happy to be working with Simon again that she couldn’t even keep her hands, lips and legs off of him.

That Is, If Simon Cowell Has His Way
Paula Abdul Will Judge The US Version Of ‘The X Factor’

In March we learned that producer L.A. Reid had signed on to be one of the judges of the US version of The X Factor and earlier this month we learned that UK X Factor judge and popstar Cheryl Cole will reportedly be coming on board to judge the US version of the show as well. Today, in a new interview, we learn from X Factor creator/judge Simon Cowell himself that the former American Idol judge Paula Abdul will round out the judging panel as the final judge … that is if he gets his way. Apparently, the contract negotiations aren’t yet completed … but Simon wants Paula on X Factor and what Simon wants, he usually gets.

Bump Watch!
Dannii Minogue, Kris Smith & Baby Bump Attend The National Television Awards

We may have only just learned last week that Dannii Minogue is pregs with her first child but we’ve had plenty of opportunity to see her out and about with baby bump in tow. Earlier this week we saw photos of Dannii and babydaddy/model Kris Smith arriving in London from Dubai (where they spent the weekend together) and now we know why they had to be in the UK this week. Dannii, Kris and Bump attended the National Television Awards last night to celebrate X-Factor‘s win as Most Popular Talent Show … behold:

As co-stars on the X Factor their relationship has been marred by rumours of rivalry and mutual dislike. But there is nothing like a baby to heal old wounds and it seems Dannii Minogue’s newly announced pregnancy has brought her and Cheryl Cole together. Cheryl stroked Dannii’s three-month bump as the grinning pair embraced in the audience at the National Television Awards at the O2 Arena. They were celebrating the X Factor’s triumph as Most Popular Talent Show. The two celebrated with Simon Cowell, who arrived with not one but two of his former girlfriends, as the show scooped the most competitive of the gongs. Cowell appeared delighted as he accepted the award from former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips. And he was quick to point out that Strictly had taken the award last year – before Arlene lost her job as judge. Cowell then confounded his fellow judges by dedicating the award to his dentist. It was Dannii’s first public engagement since she announced her pregnancy. The 38-year-old disguised signs of a bump with a full-skirted black and white striped vintage prom dress, which she wore with towering red heels. She kissed and hugged boyfriend Kris Smith, 31, as they arrived for the show. Dannii joined Tess Daly onstage to present the first award, and the two talked about her baby news. ‘I would just like to wish Dannii huge congratulations with her baby,’ said a smiling Tess. ‘Thank you, I’m joining the club, replied Dannii, referring to Tess’s two children. Tess then joked: ‘If you have twins you could have your very own Jedward.’ Dannii’s show the X Factor is nominated for an NTA in the Most Popular Talent Show category. But Dannii said she did not know whether she would be part of the new series. She said: ‘We don’t find out until April what they’re going to do… but I would love to be a part of the show.’

I am gonna love this Bump Watch! I’m so happy that Dannii was happy to attend the NTAs not only to bask in X-Factor‘s win but to bask in her own pregnancy news. I’m sure she didn’t mind showing off her hawt babydaddy either, lawdy! It will depend on when the next season of X-Factor begins filming but I would not be surprised at all if Dannii got edged out of the show due her to pregnancy needs. Whatever happens on that end, I am thrilled that she is going to be a new mummy. Let the Bump Watch! continue :)

Reveals herself to NOT be a Lily Allen fan
Cheryl Cole Does ‘Q’ Magazine

Cheryl Cole, a member of the UK pop group Girls Aloud and one of the judges on Britain’s American Idol-like TV series X-Factor, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of the British music magazine Q. Here is Cheryl‘s Q cover and a portion of her coverstory interview wherein she explains just exactly why she is not very fond of Lily Allen:

One person Cheryl Cole will not be bringing good tidings to this Christmas is her famous foe Lily Allen. Rather than forgive and forget their run of public spats over the years, Cheryl has reopened their bitter feud in a no holds barred interview in which she made her feelings about the Smile singer very clear. The 26-year-old Girls Aloud star appears in the February edition of Q magazine in a hard-edge gothic-inspired cover shoot. With dark eye make-up, red wine lips, drenched hair and with a spiked metal ring, the X Factor judge shows she is a force to be reckoned with. In the interview, the star said she was unrepentant about branding Lily a ‘chick with a dick’ back in 2007. Cheryl made the comments on Gordon Ramsay’s F Word show after Lily had publicly branded her husband Ashley Cole ‘horrendous’ and her bandmate Nicola Roberts ‘the ugly one’. Speaking to Q magazine, she recalled: ‘She called my husband “horrendous”. ‘Then she called Nicola “ugly”. For another female artist to call you ugly is so awful. ‘Nicola’s been called “ginger” all her life, then she makes something of herself and everyone calls her the “ugly one”. ‘I feel very protective of her and if that means I’m going to call Lily “whatever”, then I don’t care.’ Cheryl also revealed that she initially thought Lily was being ‘complimentary’ in her 2006 B-Side track Cheryl Tweedy (Tweedy being Cheryl’s maiden name). The lyrics included the chorus: ‘I wish my life was a little less seedy / Why am I always so greedy? / Wish I looked just like Cheryl Tweedy.’ But Lily later commented: ‘I was being ironic. Nobody wants to look like that.’ Cheryl also told the magazine about her doubts over the band’s 2004 hit Love Machine. She added: ‘I remember listening to Love Machine and thinking, “We cannot put this crap out,” that’s what I said to the label: it sounds like something Busted would do. ‘Then it went to Number 2. I was, like, Oh right. OK. I’ll keep quiet.’ Speaking about her own solo debut, many [reviewers] have detected a wronged woman tone in the lyrics to songs such as Make Me Cry. ‘Well I suppose you’re drawn to a song because you connect with it in some way. Even the ones I haven’t written on. But nothing was written in context,’ she says. Today her superstar status is such that Cowell has granted her a 100 per cent pay rise between X Factor series. ‘Can’t complain about that’, she confirms. Gordon Brown and David Cameron have fallen over themselves to signal their endorsement. The former with a Downing Street photo opportunity last year, the latter proclaiming Cole the most fanciable one in Girls Aloud. But she doesn’t seem to be a fan of Cameron? ‘Brrrr! she grimaces. Slippery, isn’t he? ‘We’ve always been Labour in our family, it just feels wrong not to be. Better the devil you know.’

I’m certain that not many Americans know who Cheryl Cole is (or Girls Aloud, for that matter) but fans of British pop music should be well aware of her emergence as a solo pop star. I managed to get my hands on her debut solo album 3 Words and really like it. I’ve played some of the tracks for some friends and they have fallen in love with Cheryl Cole as well. I don’t expect she’ll ever make a splash here in the US (after all, Kylie Minogue is still relatively unknown here in the US) but I don’t mind admiring Cheryl from afar. After the jump, check out a few photos from Cheryl‘s Q magazine photospread — you might like what you see …

Third and final European performance is the best yet!
Britney Spears Brings Her Circus To ‘X-Factor’

Britney Spears wrapped up her mini-European promo tour ahead of the release of her new album Circus (due out in stores on Tuesday December 2) by performing on the UK competitive reality program X-Factor on live TV last nightgiving the program it’s highest ratings ever, pulling in 12.8 million viewers! Even tho Britney turned in the same routine that she gave in Germany and in France, there were small amendments to the routine and more life in this latest performance (I thought) than the previous two performances. Here are a few pics of Britney (lookin’ smokin’, I might add) on the X-Factor stage last night:

Britney Spears sang her latest hit on the X Factor stage during her first UK television performance in over four years. The pop singer, who turns 27 on Tuesday, mimed her way through her latest single Womanizer after the five remaining finalists each covered a classic Britney track. Spears, who was dressed all in black, with hotpants, fishnet tights and knee-high boots, did not coach the show’s contestants, as previous guests have done. It has been reported Spears travelled with a 45-strong entourage of stylists and security. And reports claimed she is said to have banned contestants and judges from approaching her. But the judging panel gave her a standing ovation along with an excited crowd. On Monday, she releases her sixth studio album Circus, and has been on a whistle-stop tour of Europe to promote the record. Earlier, Alexandra Burke, who sang Toxic, said: “When I was nine, Britney brought out Baby One More Time, and I loved her. I’m very excited about meeting her. This is the Britney we all know and love. I hope I can do my Britney song justice, with my own twist.” Eoghan Quigg performed Sometimes, Ruth Lorenzo – who was later voted off the reality show – sang I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll, Diana Vickers sang I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman and JLS took on Baby One More Time.

For me, the folks making such a big deal of Britney lip-syncing (“miming”) are missing the point — and none of this criticism is new. Even at the height of her fame, critics felt it necessary to try and demean her performances by making a point of the lip-syncing. She is a performer, not really a singer … she has always been this way. I, for one, do not mind it at all. I find when critics attack her for the lip-syncing it’s because they’ve run out of other things to complain about … it means that things have finally gotten back to normal ;) Regarding this performance, I felt that she offered the most vim and vigor of all the performances she put on this week. Even tho she wore the same outfit that she wore in Germany, I think she looked the best on X-Factor than on the other two shows. The rolling steel cage ball was taken out of the performance and made it feel more like a dance routine than a “spectacle” — I liked it. At the end, Britney got a standing ovation from the crowd and from the judges. The girl is not trying to reinvent the wheel … slowly and steadily, she is working towards getting back to her comfort zone. I think she is handling it all very well. After the jump, check out a backstage photo of Britney with the X-Factor judges, a few photos of Britney making her exit from the venue and video of her performance in full …
