Because the shocking news that Sandra Bullock has adopted a baby boy without anyone in the world knowing about it takes precedence, her story is the main focus of this week’s cover of People magazine. But People has another big story to share with the world this week, its annual 100 Most Beautiful People list! Here are a few of the folks who made the list this year — including Jake Gyllenhaal, Channing Tatum and Bradley Cooper — but the celeb chosen as THE most beautiful person might come as a bit of a surprise, or maybe not really … she has previously made the 100 Most Beautiful List 12 times and has previously been THE most beautiful person 4 times:

Julia Roberts, who began her career as “Pretty Woman,” is now the most beautiful person in the world, according to People magazine’s Most Beautiful Person issue released on Wednesday. This is the fourth time the 42-year-old timeless beauty has headed People’s list and the twelfth time she’s been named one of the world’s 100 Most Beautiful people. The announcement was made live Wednesday on TODAY by People senior editor Galina Espinoza … A dozen appearances are the second-most in the history of the exclusive list. Only Halle Berry, who this year makes her 14th appearance on People’s iconic list, has more. Following Roberts are nine-time honorees George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman. Of those, only Lopez is back this year … The “Most Beautiful People” issue is broken down into sections celebrating various aspects of beauty. While I generally agree with People‘s choices of the “most beautiful”, I can’t help but believe their decision to name Julia Roberts the most beautiful person — again — as a p.r. stunt in her favor. Julia has a new movie coming out so this “honor” will help with promotion of that film. Of all the people People could’ve chosen, like Sandra Bullock perhaps, I cannot for the life of me understand why Julia Roberts would be chosen as the stand out. In any event, People‘s 100 Most Beautiful People list is pure feel-good fluff for everyone involved … it’s nothing really to take seriously at all. Which of YOUR fave beautiful people made the list?

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been professing my lurve for the beefier-looking Channing Tatum on the NYC set of his new film Son of No One … while some of you have taken issue with my fondness for his more rotund appearance and his trashtastic porn’stache, I’ve been quite happy to stick up for Team Channing. But, I’m sorry to admit that today I’m no longer able to speak fondly of Channing and his latest outfit choice. Here are a few photos of Chan the man checking out an exhibit at a gallery in SoHo yesterday wearing an outfit that is beyond wrong:

Now, I can forgive many things … I can even overlook many others … but Channing has really taken things too far this time. His outfit, tho poorly matched, isn’t even the problem … it’s the horrendous footwear he decided to wear — in public:

Earlier this week we got to see a couple photos of Channing Tatum in full police officer uniform on the NYC set of his new film Son of No One and today we get to see a couple more pics from the set. It appears that Channing is a bit beefier in these photos … like he’s gone thru a few boxes of donuts since the last time we saw him on set:

Last week we got to see Channing Tatum lookin’ a bit banged up (but not for real) on the Queens, NY set of his new film Son of No One and today we get to see a couple new pics from the movie set. Hottie Channing Tatum was lookin’ a little worse for the wear on the Queens set of his new film Son Of No One which is currently filming in NYC, NY this week. Fortunately, Channing‘s injuries are not real … but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t look like he could use a hug to make him feel better:

Awww … the fake bruises plus the small porn ‘stache makes him look kinda adorable, right? I have no idea what Sons of No One is about but it appears that Channing has been cast to play an honest to goodness galoot, most likely with a heart of gold. Earlier today we learned that Ryan Phillippe is in the running to play Captain America in the planned big screen adaptation of the comic book hero and right now we learn that Hottie McHotster Channing Tatum is also up for the role! Entertainment Weekly breaks down which actors are vying for the role of Capt. America but I’m telling you right now, I’m putting all of my support behind Channing Tatum:

Marvel Studios’ search continues for the perfect actor to don the red, white, and blue suit and spread American ideals in the big-screen adaptation of Captain America. Today’s rumor mill throws G.I. Joe’s Channing Tatum into a mix of 20-something-year-olds that include the known, Ryan Phillippe, Fantastic Four’s Chris Evans; the semi-known, Cloverfield’s Mike Vogel, Gossip Girl’s Sebastian Stan; and the unknown, Young and the Restless’s Wilson Bethel. The studio held lengthy screen tests last weekend for at least four of those actors (Hedlund has not yet screen-tested, though sources believe he is the studio’s first choice), and Marvel is expected to have a decision soon. In the meantime, we’ve got a few plot details to share. Sources tell EW that Captain America, which is set to begin filming in June for a release next summer, will be shot on location in London as the Joe Johnston-helmed movie will feature a stylized 1940s WWII backdrop. And while Cap won’t be fighting Hitler as he did in the very first Captain America comic book, he will battle Red Skull, Hitler’s right-hand man. Probably the biggest challenge with Marvel’s casting challenge is not the Captain America movie, but what comes next. Marvel’s plans include an Avengers film that will bow in summer 2012. And anyone familiar with Marvel lore knows that Captain America is a father figure to the rest of the Avengers. That means Marvel’s casting choice for Cap must be someone who can go toe-to-toe with the likes of Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Samuel Jackson’s Nick Fury, and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, to name a few. “They’re casting two franchises here,” said a source close to the production. “This is no easy feat.”

Channing can do it! He can carry this film and play the integral role in The Avengers movie! While I understand that a lot is riding on the perfect casting, Channing Tatum has proven that he can carry a film at the box office and he’s already got the action hero cred to play a superhero! I’m not a huge Captain America fan (but I did love the 1979 TV movie based on the hero) but I can deffo get behind the film if Channing takes the lead. Channing Tatum — hunky star of films like Step Up, Fighting, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra and, as we learned last month, in a new film titled The Eagle of the Ninth — is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Details magazine. The first portion of Channing‘s Details coverstory is devoted to his penis, which the interviewer describes as “hot-pink, singed, and shriveled” and “gross”. Interested, read on:

Here are a few promo pics from a new movie titled The Eagle of the Ninth which stars Channing Tatum, Donald Sutherland and Jamie Bell and in set in Roman-occupied Britain in 1040 AD. From what I understand, the film tells an epic tale but from the looks of these first promo pics is also an excuse to feature sweaty, half-nekkid hotties on the big screen. Some of you may remember that Jamie Bell starred as Billy Elliot in the film of the same name … I would say the young man has grown up very nicely:

He’s come a long way from the shy and skinny ballet-dancing teenager in Billy Elliot. And after being ridiculed and teased for wanting to dance, Jamie Bell looks more than ready to take on his critics. The 22-year-old actor shows that he’s all grown up as he flaunts a buff-looking physique in the first pictures released for his latest film. He stars in the upcoming movie The Eagle of the Ninth, alongside Donald Sutherland and Channing Tatum, which is due out in cinemas next year. Set in 140AD in Roman-occupied Britain, Bell plays Esca, a Celtic slave of his master, a young centurion called Marcus Aquila, played by Tatum. Aquila has arrived in London twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of his father’s Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland. Together, he and Esca set off across Hadrian’s Wall to find out what happened to his father’s legion and retrieve its golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth. The film, which is based on the 1954 novel by the late children’s author Rosemary Sutcliff, also stars British actors Mark Strong as Guern, ‘an ex-soldier who holds crucial information about the Ninth’, and Douglas Henshall. Sutherland plays Aquila, Marcus’ uncle who is living retired in Britain in the film which cost £15million to make and was shot in Hungary and Scotland. Since Bell made his acting debut in Billy Elliot aged just 14 – for which he won the 2001 BAFTA Award for Best Actor – he has landed some major Hollywood roles. He starred alongside Jack Black, Adrian Brody and Naomi Watts in Peter Jackson’s King Kong, with Daniel Craig in last year’s World War Two film Defiance, and with Hayden Christensen in Jumper last year. Bell also landed the lead role as Tintin in The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, the movie adaptation of the Herge comic books, due for release in 2011.

I understand the movie is based on the 1950′s children’s book The Eagle of the Ninth written by Rosemary Sutcliff. It sounds like an interesting story but I’m having a hard time understanding the actual plot. To be honest, tho, if there is a promise of nekkidness of any sort from Tatum or Bell, well, who really needs a plot? Channing Tatum may not be a good actor but he does make for pretty good eye candy. Jamie Bell, on the other hand, is a fantastic actor so … who knows, this movie might turn out to be pretty good.
