Chace Crawford & Ed Westwick Are In The Trenches

These charming men
Friday, November 6th, 2009

Here are a few photos of a pair of sharp-dressed men on the NYC set of Gossip Girl this week … co-stars Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick were spotted lookin’ all cool and shizz each gussied up in their snazzy trench coats:

It’s photos like these that prove why every girl’s (and some guys are) crazy for a sharp dressed man. As much as I HATE the onset of colder Autumn weather, I can appreciate that the fashions look very nice on others. I’m not even sure which one of these young chaps looks better in their finery … I think the edge has to go to Westwick cuz I really love that leather trench. Which Gossip guy do you prefer?

‘The Stepfather’ Premieres In NYC

Daddy's Home
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Penn Badgely and his co-stars Amber Heard and Dylan Walsh, were joined by much of the Gossip Girl cast at the NYC premiere of their new film The Stepfather which took place at the SVA Theater here in NYC, NY last night. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals:

I believe this is Penn’s first starring movie role so we will soon know if he’s got the chops to carry a film almost all by himself. I don’t know much about Amber Heard’s work but I’m a big fan of Dylan Walsh (who plays Dr. Sean McNamara on Nip/Tuck) and I have no doubt he’ll play a great bad guy in this film. Penn’s costars Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick have already featured in their own big screen flicks (The Covenant and S. Darko respectively) so now it’s Penn’s time to shine. I hope he doesn’t disappoint … David and I have high hopes that this film will be a fun time at the movies. The Stepfather opens on Friday … I guess we’ll know soon enough if Penn’s got what it takes to thrill an audience.

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Are Handed Out

In honor of Michael Jackson, the King of Pop
Monday, September 14th, 2009

As we are all pretty much aware by now, the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards were handed out at Radio City Music Hall here in NYC last night in a ceremony that was mired in controversy but also featured heartfelt tributes to the late Michael Jackson as well as a few spectacular performances and on stage appearances. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals last night:

But for a few exceptions, most everyone looked amazing on the red carpet. I loved all the shiny bling that some folks were wearing … particularly Kristin Cavallari who wore a simple vintage dress and looked absolutely amazing in it. The show itself was really fun .. the opening tribute performance to MJ was really very cool and except for Kanye West’s douchey behavior, the show was very entertaining. Here are a few pics from the show and some deets about what went down:

Planned and random acts of kindness reigned at the MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday night. Among the planned acts: Janet Jackson’s opening tribute to her brother Michael, whose death at age 50 on June 25 rocked the music world. The production began with Madonna recalling her encounter with Michael and reminding the audience that “Michael Jackson was a hero.” And while “he seemed otherworldly,” she added, “he was also a human being.” And then, the performance began. Dancers crept up on stage with original Thriller video airing in the background. The dancers’ moves duplicated the ones being performed on the video. Then a sequence of Michael’s hits played. Bad and Smooth Criminal led to Scream, his duet with Janet, who broke through glass to make her way onstage and sing along with the video. The loud, almost angry performance had the audience on its feet. After the tribute, Madonna said backstage that “it was good to finally get to say my piece.” And then near the end of the show, in a gracious act of kindness, video-of-the-year winner Beyoncé offered young country music star Taylor Swift a second chance to say her piece with an acceptance speech. The moment came after Kanye West took everyone by surprise early in the show when he went onstage to interrupt Swift’s acceptance speech for best female video for You Belong With Me … The teen country star returned for her live performance of You Belong With Me later in the show. Celebrities reacted backstage. Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong said, “Well, you know, she’s young, I think she’ll get over it. I think he needs to get it over it also. It was very uncomfortable sitting there.” “I feel bad for Taylor,” said Kristin Cavallari. “I think it was really disrespectful” … Other music-related news items had guests talking at the awards show, too. American Idol’s Kara DioGuardi was asked about her new colleague at the judges’ table, Ellen DeGeneres. “I feel fantastic. I feel ecstatic. I can’t wait for January, when we can all be on the panel.” DioGuardi added that she has been in touch with former judge Paula Abdul. “I’ve spoken to her, and she seems to be doing really well, and that’s what matters.” Abdul is set to play host at the VH1 Divas special on MTV’s sister network on Thursday night (9 ET/PT). Faye Dunaway had two divas she was looking forward to seeing on Sunday at the VMAs. “Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. How could you not love Beyoncé?” Dunaway asked. Ne-Yo echoed Dunaway’s sentiment. When asked who he was rooting for, he replied, “Besides myself?” and then added, “I’m here to see Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Pink, everyone. I’m here just to enjoy the electricity.” And the atmosphere was electric, with returning host Russell Brand doling out his brash brand of humor. Among the stars: Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, Eminem, Jermaine Jackson, Katy Perry, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

For me, the live performances were the highlight of the entire night. After the jump, check out a few photos from the press room and watch a couple of my fave performances from the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards

Chace Crawford Does ‘Wonderland’ Magazine

“I’ve got to thank my mom ... She bestowed on me some good genes.”
Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Gossip Girl hottie (and soon to be star of the remake of Footloose) Chace Crawford is featured in the pages of the new issue of Wonderland magazine (the same issue that features Megan Fox on the cover). Chace channels his inner fashionista in the stylish photospread and talks to the mag about “making it in Hollywood” as well as his new stint as People magazine’s Hottest Bachelor of 2009. Here is a portion of his Wonderland interview:

When the actor Chace Crawford removes his baseball cap and pulls up a chair at the Belmont Lounge, a relatively low-key Young Hollywood hangout in the centre of Los Angeles that’s akin to a high-priced dive bar, it is impossible not to get lost in his eyes. They are so electric, so transfixingly ice blue that they deserve their own colour in a box of Crayola Crayons. They are such showstoppers that on the set of Twelve (Crawford’s upcoming film, and his first big-screen starring feature role since Gossip Girl became a worldwide phenomenon), his co-star, the rapper 50 Cent, joked that Crawford has “Skyline Eyes”. “I’m not going to say it’s hurt me,” Crawford says of his boyish features, which also include his now-signature bushy eyebrows. “I’ve got to thank my mom, though. She’s a beautiful woman. She bestowed on me some good genes.” Indeed, this summer Crawford’s good genes earned him the much-coveted title of People magazine’s Hottest Bachelor for 2009. Not bad for a college dropout who, just a few short years ago, was earning money by valeting cars at the ocean-front restaurant Geoffrey’s in Malibu. Crawford, who turned 24 in July, grew up near Dallas, the son of a dermatologist (his father) and a teacher (his mother). (His sister, Candice, just graduated from college and hopes to pursue a career in sports broadcasting.) The story of Crawford’s first encounter with acting is right out of High School Musical or the new Fox sitcom Glee. In high school, Crawford was a football player, even if, he says, he was into art and painting. But during his senior year, the drama teacher asked him to audition for a role in a production of The Boyfriend. “I sang the National Anthem,” Crawford recalls. He got the part. “It was a good little role and something about it was just fun, but it didn’t even really trigger anything in me.” After high school, he landed at Pepperdine, a small Jesuit college on the beach in Malibu. A year later, he dropped out to do some soul searching. “I was just sort of confused and didn’t know what I wanted to do,” Crawford explains. “Everyone there seemed like they knew what they wanted to do, which is, of course, complete bullshit. So I took off.” During that time off – a time when he was valeting cars, “flooring down the street and back” – a friend convinced him that he should meet her commercial agent. “I didn’t realise how much money one commercial could give you. I’d done minimal modelling in Dallas, and just hated it. I met him, and he goes, ‘Can you do improv?’ And I’m like, ‘What’s improv?’”

Seriously, Chace has lived a very charmed life thus far and it looks like he’s going to be enjoying that great life for many years to come. I wouldn’t necessarily say that he’s the best actor I’ve ever seen but he holds his own and deffo has the looks to make it in the biz. I think the true test will come when we see what he’s got in his upcoming starring role in Footloose. That movie is much beloved already, Chace has got some big dancing shoes to fill … I’m very curious to see if he’s up to the task. But that film is still many months away from release so … we’ll just have to wait and see. After the jump, check out a few photos from Chace’s Wonderland magazine photospread …

Chace Crawford Does ‘Interview’ Magazine

Pays homage to the film 'Eastern Promises' in his photospread
Monday, August 24th, 2009

Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford is featured in the new issue of Interview magazine wherein he gives a mostly snoozeworthy interview but features in a pretty kick-ass photospread. Chace channels Viggo Morgensen’s character from the 2007 film Eastern Promises in his spread … bouffant and tattoos included:

Nate Archibald, the prep-school poster boy of all things physically right about American youth today, has a terrible father but a family legacy that keeps him afloat in Gossip Girl limos and designer cardigans. Last we saw Nate, he was headed to Columbia University, but not before he and Blair broke up at the prom and he headed off to Europe on a backpacking trip with his former flame Vanessa. Nate Archibald’s real-life counterpart, on the other hand, has an extremely supportive father—and mother for that matter, who during this interview was helping her son move from the apartment he shared with Gossip Girl co-star Ed Westwick to his own two-bedroom in Manhattan’s Financial District—but the 24-year-old actor had no Hollywood legacy to help him coast into the loafers of one of teenage fandom’s dreamiest heartthrobs. In other words, for all his innate good looks, Chace Crawford has spent the past few years working very hard to get where he is today. And this year, the Texas native is refusing to stand still and smile pretty, taking on two projects that he hopes will prove he’s serious about his craft. In the spring he wrapped up director Joel Schumacher’s dark thriller Twelve, in which he plays an impoverished teenage drug dealer who tries to figure out what caused the death of his cousin during the epidemic of a new street drug called Twelve (a drug favored by Upper East Side Gossip Girl types). And after much hoopla over Crawford’s replacing Zac Efron in the upcoming remake of Footloose, he gets a chance to show a little more wild enthusiasm—and breakdancing—than Nate usually summons during those tender walk-and-talk Gossip Girl street scenes. The eternally rich Nate Archibald is slowly growing up, it seems, but Crawford already has. He’s single, still in his early 20s, and he finally has his very own bachelor pad.

If you so desire you can read the Interview interview HERE or you can just check out the interesting bits behind the cut along with the rest of the photos from Chace’s Interview photospread …

More Smoochy Pics Of Chace Crawford & Ashley Greene

BFFs or FTFs?
Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Yesterday we saw a photo of Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford lip-locked with Twilight star Ashley Greene in the backseat of her limo as she was being dropped off at LAX Airport on her way to Vancouver, BC to meet up with her fellow Twilight co-stars to begin production on the new sequel film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Because there was only one good photo of the kiss, we really couldn’t see much … today, two new photos surfaced, taken from a different angle, and give us a bit clearer peek at the face sucking:

Oh yeah, you can see things much more clearly in these photos. It’s kinda rude that Miss Greene couldn’t be bothered to take off her sunglasses before she stuck her tongue inside Chace’s mouth but he didn’t seem to mind so I guess we shouldn’t mind either ;) While there have been quite a few photos of these two hanging out together, it never occurred to me that they might involved romantically … I guess I just assumed they were friends. Kissing like this doesn’t suggest friendship but, then again, perhaps they have an arrangement … or they just like knockin’ boots whenever they are in each other’s general vicinity. Whatever the case may be, CrAshley has been born! I wonder if Chace will spending any time in Vancouver visiting his ladyfriend in between filming scenes for GG in NYC. I doubt Ashley will be flying to NYC while Eclipse is filming, for all she knows they might replace her in the film as soon as she leaves the set. Whatever the case may be, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of these two in the near future.

Chace Crawford & Ashley Green Get Smoochy

Suckin' face in SoCal
Monday, August 10th, 2009

Well, well now … what have we got here? It appears that Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford and Twilight’s Ashley Greene are new close friends as the pair were seen snogging up a storm in the back of her limo as she made her way to the airport bound for Vancouver, BC earlier this morning. Chace and Ashley both attended the 2009 Teen Choice Awards last night and clearly hit it off with one another:

No word on whether or not this is a new fling, the beginning of a new relationship or a one-time thing but I’m sure these two are breaking hearts all over the place. My guess is that this was just a one time thing (tho one wonders what exactly went on betwixt the two of them last night leading up to this smoochy goodbye) but who knows … perhaps we’ll be seeing Chace and Ashley lockin’ lips again in the future.
