"She will never be forgotten"
Friends Pay Tribute, Remember & Mourn The Late Whitney Houston

While many of us are struggling with the sudden and extremely tragic loss of Whitney Houston, I’m quite certain the pain is even more palpable for the family and friends who knew her. Almost immediately, touching tributes of love and remembrance started showing up on Twitter from many of Whitney‘s close, personal friends. Additionally, other artists who worked with Whitney on projects in the past were asked for comment on her passing. All together, these messages of love and loss formulate a very touching and heartfelt tribute to the amazing Whitney Houston. Click below to read some comments from some of Whitney‘s friends, including messages from Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Dolly Parton and more.

Her Twin Babies Get Introduced to Sin City
Céline Dion & Family Return To Las Vegas, NV

Back in 2002, Céline Dion launched a 3-year residency at Caesar’s Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV and successfully performed 600 shows, making her one of the most successful Las Vegas performers of all time. After she finished her contract, she went back home to Canada and focused on her family life, giving birth to twin boys Nelson and Eddy last October (who we met back in December). This week, Céline and family returned to Las Vegas ahead of another 3-year residency at Caesar’s Palace … because, apparently, she ain’t done making millions of dollars in Sin City.

Céline Dion shows off her newborn twin sons on the cover of 'Hello!' magazine
Meet Eddy & Nelson Dion-Angélil

At the end of October, we learned the joyous news that Canadian chanteuse Céline Dion gave birth to a pair of healthy baby boys that she named Eddy and Nelson. Today we get to meet those cute little babies because they are being introduced to the world on the cover of the new issue of Hello! magazine:

Celine Dion admits it’s hard to find time to sleep and shower these days as she and husband Rene Angelil care for their two-month-old fraternal twin boys, Eddy and Nelson. The superstar singer, who also has a nine-year-old son, Rene-Charles, opens up about motherhood in a new issue of Hello! Canada magazine set to hit newsstands Thursday. “I don’t know how women do it,” she tells Hello! Canada editor-in-chief Alison Eastwood in an interview at the family’s expansive, “tropical-themed” home on Jupiter Island, Fla. “Every day Rene asks, ‘Did you sleep well?’ I’m like, ‘You must be kidding! There is no sleep!” Dion and her twins are featured in a 20-page pictorial spread in the magazine. They also grace the cover, wearing white pyjamas on a bed that is decked out in white linens. Dion, her hair tied back, is smiling at the camera as one of the twins rests in her arms and the other sleeps on the bed beside her. Pyjamas are a staple wardrobe these days, Dion tells Eastwood. “I nurse both babies at the same time … I’m in my pyjamas until lunchtime and there’s no time to shower!” The multiple Grammy Award winner also says the twins are developing personalities. “Nelson is Angelil, Eddy is Dion!” she tells the magazine. Dion, who kicks off her next Las Vegas show on March 15, gave birth to the twins Oct. 23. Nelson is named after South African leader Nelson Mandela and Eddy is for French songwriter Eddy Marnay.

What adorable little boys. It’s no secret that Céline really, really wanted to have another baby … now she’s been blessed with two new babies. Sleep can come later, gurl, this is what you wanted ;) I’m just really happy that Céline‘s story had a happy ending. She endured so much painful loss in her attempt to become a mother again … I’m just happy for her and her entire family. I still think her babies names (Nelson & Eddy) make it sound like they are an early 90′s singing group but I bet they’ll have a very happy life with mommy, daddy and their big brother.

Whittles her list of 15,000 names down to 2
Céline Dion Reveals The Names Of Her Newborn Twin Boys

Over the weekend we learned the happy news that singer Céline Dion and her hubby René Angélil became the parents of a pair of healthy twin baby boys and just yesterday we learned that Céline and René were able to take their new sons home with them. Today we learn that Céline has finally settled on what to name her children … which was no small task apparently. Céline‘s baby name list included 15,000 names … but in the end, she settled on Nelson and Eddy:

Five days after their arrival, Celine Dion has finally settled on names for her twin boys. The singer, who said earlier this week that she’d considered ‘nearly 15,000 names and nothing has stuck’, has called the newborns Nelson and Eddy. Celine and husband René Angelil took inspiration from Nelson Mandela, whom the 42-year-old met in 2008 while on tour in South Africa. ‘René said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is,’ a spokesperson for the couple said. Eddy is named after Eddy Marnay, who produced the singer’s first five records. ‘He was like a father to her,’ the spokesperson adds. ‘Eddy is a major influence in both Céline and René’s lives.’ Celine told French magazine Gala that the couple’s 9-year-old son René-Charles had a say in the decision. ‘Because René-Charles goes to school in the United States, he’s suggested English first names,’ she says. ‘My mother, on the other hand, has been hinting about very French first names and we’re going a little bit crazy trying to decide’ … Celine gave birth to the fraternal twins on Saturday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. The couple had been trying to conceive for years and underwent six attempts at IVF in 12 months.

Well, at least the names individually are nice and normal … that’s good. But together, Nelson and Eddy sounds like a one-hit wonder pop group from the early 90s. Still … I couldn’t be happier for Céline and René. It was very clear how badly they wanted to have another child … and now they have two new babies. I can’t wait to see what little Nelson and Eddy look like :D

It's a boy! And a boy!
Céline Dion Gives Birth To Twin Babies

Congratulations are in order for Canadian chanteuse Céline Dion and her husband René Angélil because yesterday morning the couple became the proud parents of twin boys born at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL. As you may recall, we learned back in July that Céline was pregnant with twin boys and in September we got to see one of the only photos of Céline showing off her baby bump during this pregnancy on the cover of 7 Jours magazine. Because Céline and René had difficulty having children in recent years, she stayed out of the spotlight in order to focus on her health and the health of her babies … and it worked! Céline is now the new mother of twin baby boys who were born just one minute apart:

Céline Dion is a mom again – times two! The singer, 42, gave birth to fraternal twin boys on Saturday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., at 11:11 a.m. and 11:12 a.m., her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Celine, René and their son René-Charles are thrilled,” says her rep. One of the babies weighed in at 5 lbs., 4 oz., with the other at 5 lbs., 10 oz. Dion’s doctor, Ronald Ackerman, said at a press conference outside the hospital Friday evening that the delivery, done via C-section, went as expected. He also revealed that the twins were both born with a good amount of hair. The twins are healthy, says Dion’s rep, but will spend the next few days in an incubator because they were born premature. “Celine is resting now and they plan to discuss what to name the boys when she wakes up,” the rep adds. “René-Charles has been to the hospital to visit his brothers and is just so excited they are here.”

It’s always very happy news when any baby is born but this is especially happy because of the fertility problems that Céline and René had experienced in recent years. It was plainly clear that the couple really wanted to have another child … and now they have two new children! Let’s send all of our love and congrats their way … I can’t wait to see what the new teeny weeny babies look like :)

Bump Watch
Céline Dion Shows Off Her Baby Bump For ‘7 Jours’ Magazine

Back in July we learned the happy news that after a few years of fertility issues, Candanian chanteuse Céline Dion got pregnant with twins! Today we get our first look at Céline and her baby bump on the cover of the new issue of 7 Jours magazine. Céline and bump are joined on the covery by her hubby René Angélil and their son René-Charles … behold:

Celine Dion has shown off her huge baby bump for the first time after dismissing reports of pregnancy complications. The 42-year-old singer, who is thought to be six-months pregnant with twin boys, posed on the cover of Canadian magazine 7 Jours with husband René Angelil and their nine-year-old son René-Charles. Wearing a green maxi dress, Celine showed she definitely had that pregnancy glow, smiling widely as she posed alongside her family. Celine and husband René Angelil were quick to deny rumours that the My Heart Will Go On singer had been rushed to hospital earlier this month with complications. A representative for the star said: ‘She’s never been in the hospital – her pregnancy continues to be healthy and she feels fantastic. As with most women expecting multiples, her doctor wants her to stay off her feet as much as possible as she finishes her pregnancy. They’ve gotten calls from friends worried that something is wrong. To be so happy and then to get these calls, it’s been upsetting for them when they are in such a good place.’ Celine fell pregnant following her sixth in-vitro fertilization attempt and turning to acupuncture to improve her chances of conceiving. And the singer said recently that her pregnancy has been pretty normal so far. She explained: ‘The first two months I really felt the classical symptoms – the morning sickness, hot flashes, nausea. ‘In a certain way, that reassured me, like a sign that my pregnancy was progressing. Now, everything is falling into place. I have a little belly.’ It was reported Celine was pregnant last August, but her spokeperson confirmed in November 2009 that the pregnancy had failed.

I cannot even imagine what it must’ve felt like for Céline when she lost her baby last year, I can only hope that this pregnancy with twins will bring her the happiness that I know she has been looking for for some time. I understand it’s tricky for women in their 40s to conceive, let alone successfully give birth so I’m sending all my best wishes her way. I kinda love how unkempt Céline looks on the cover of this mag … other celebs would be all done up to perfection, Céline just looks un-made up and happy. I’m very much looking forward to the day when Céline welcomes her babies into the world.

USA For Haiti
‘We Are The World’, The Redux

25 years after the original version was recorded, a new batch of stars convened at the Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood, CA to re-record the charity anthem We Are The World in an effort to raise money and awareness for Haitian Relief. 25 years ago, We Are The World was written and recorded in an effort to raise money for African Aid so it is very fitting that the song would be remade for the people of Haiti. Here are a few photos from inside the recording studio yesterday for this momentous occasion:

Producers were putting the final touches Tuesday to a remake of “We Are The World” with stars such as Barbra Streisand, Wyclef Jean and Celine Dion lending their support for Haiti’s quake victims. It was 25 years ago that Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen joined others at the famed A&M Studios in Hollywood for an all-star recording of the same song to benefit famine relief in Africa. That effort, USA for Africa, raised 63 million dollars. This time, dozens of other A-listers — who also include Usher, Lil Wayne, Pink, Natalie Cole and the Jonas Brothers — took to the same soundstage late Monday for an hours-long recording that dragged into the night. The aim is to raise money to help survivors of the massive January 12 quake that killed 170,000 people and devastated what was already the poorest country in the Americas. No cameras were allowed inside, but the song’s producers said “We Are The World – 25 For Haiti” will air during NBC television’s coverage of the opening of the Winter Olympics on February 12. More than 70 stars — many of them hip-hop artists — lent their voice to the effort, none of them participants in the original recording. Rapper Wyclef Jean, a Haiti native, said in a statement he was “proud to be joined by so many members of the artistic community that want to support the region and have donated their time and talents to providing an effective way for the global community to get involved with helping the Haitian population.” The original tune was co-written and produced by Jackson, who died June 25 of cardiac arrest, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones. Richie and Jones produced the new version. Academy Award-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis, who directed “Crash” and also co-wrote “Million Dollar Baby,” filmed the session for an accompanying video. “What an unbelievable group of people who have come together to give their voices, for a cause to start the healing of a people who have experienced a devastation of such magnitude,” said Richie. Among the other performers spanning a broad swath of genres and ages, from 83-year-old Tony Bennett to 15-year-old Justin Bieber, were Carlos Santana, Brian Wilson and Al Jardine of the Beach Boys. “It kind of hit me that I guess this is something way more important than I could have ever imagined,” rapper Lil Wayne, who is playing Bob Dylan’s part from the original recording, told a news conference. The recording was timed just a day after the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards to ensure the maximum number of stars would attend. The contemporary version of the song and the video will be available to buy through online and traditional retailers. Producers say all proceeds will go “directly” to earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

This is such a fantastic idea … what a great way to raise money for Haitian relief. It’s such a shame that Michael Jackson couldn’t be part of this redux but it was nice of Kanye West to wear one of MJ‘s jackets so that he could be there in spirit. I can’t even begin to express how much of an impact the original We Are The World had on me when it was released in 1985. I loved that song so much … I would sit by the radio and record it on cassette tapes every time it aired … I would have cassette tapes with just this song recorded on it over and over again. I’m really looking forward to hearing this version. I’m not sure why this report claims there were “no cameras” allowed in the studio because there were and a lot of photos have been made available. After the jump, check out some individual shots of some of the folks who participated in We Are The World: 25 Years for Haiti yesterday …

The 2010 Grammy Awards pays homage to the late King of Pop
Michael Jackson Honored In 3D, Represented By His Children

The late Michael Jackson, who we are well aware tragically passed away last June, was honored during the 2010 Grammy Awards last night with a fitting tribute performed by Céline Dion, Smokey Robinson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Usher. The singers dueted with MJ on his ballad Earth Song, a performance that was broadcast on television in 3D. Not only did the attendees of the Grammy Awards (like Rihanna) outfit themselves with 3D glasses (courtesy of Target, who gave out the 3D glasses for FREE for the event last night) but so, too, did viewers at home … like me:

The Grammys rode the 3-D wave Sunday with a special-effects-laden tribute to the late Michael Jackson in an awards show that featured many big spectacle moments. Jackson’s children, Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11 appeared after the tribute to accept a lifetime achievement award for the pop star, who died in June of a prescription drug overdose. Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson and Usher performed in the tribute, mingling their voices with the voice of the late King of Pop against the backdrop of a 3-D film featuring Jackson’s 1995 eco-friendly “Earth Song.” Free 3-D “Grammy” glasses were distributed at Target stores nationwide so viewers could watch the show in 3-D from their living rooms. Part of the Jackson film shown during the Grammys aired in the recent documentary “This Is It” which was shot during rehearsals for Jackson’s comeback tour and showed the pop star looking fit just days before his death in June 2009. Jackson had intended the environmentally themed song and film to be part of that tour, which was supposed to have begun in July 2009. He was considered one of the most commercially successful entertainers of all time whose music and videos transformed the art and broke down racial barriers. The clip features a lush forest through the eyes of a young girl.

I hope you hung on to your 3D glasses because uploaded video clips of the Earth Song performance will (kinda) appear in 3D if you watch them on your computer :) In addition to the technologically fitting tribute performance last night, MJ‘s children Prince Michael Joseph and Paris Michael Katherine appeared on stage to accept the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award which was awarded to MJ posthumously during the show:

After the jump, check out video of MJ‘s kids accepting his award on stage, check out a backstage photo of Prince and Paris posing with their little brother Blanket AND bust out those 3D glasses, yo, you can watch Earth Song in 3D right here on the blog …

The annual event
The 2010 Recording Academy And Clive Davis Annual Pre-Grammy Gala

Music mogul Clive Davis hosted his annual Pre-Grammy Gala event at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA last night bringing out a who’s who of music big wigs (as well as a very awkward pair of newlyweds who seem to have difficulty with the kissing) to celebrate Grammy weekend as only he knows how to do. Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Hudson were among the performers at last night’s affair (you may recall that Whitney Houston was among the performers at last year’s event, kicking off her stunning musical comeback which took place later in the year). Here are some photos from the red carpet arrivals along with some deets about the soiree:

It was an incongruous group. On one level were Hollywood royalty Barbra Streisand and Jane Fonda, Joan and Jackie Collins. In their sights, on the next level down, were Mary J Blige, Taylor Swift, Maxwell, Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas, Keyshia, Mos Def, Nelly, Jonas Brothers, Russell Brand and his fiance Katy Perry, the Kings of Leon, Usher and Jon Bon Jovi and many others. They were seated in what is known as the ‘pit’ inside the Beverly Hilton’s international ballroom. The old guard and the new guard of Hollywood movies and rock ‘n’ roll were gathered for the annual pre-Grammy party hosted by music industry mogul Clive Davis, known as ‘golden ears’ for his ability in finding and developing music artists. Some claim the pre-Grammy bash on Saturday night is bigger, and better, than the official Grammy show on Sunday night. It’s certainly a looser affair. Celebrities knock back wine and champagne and table hop. The evening saw Mary J Blige publicly humiliate her band in front of an audience that included recording industry titans and some of the biggest names in rock. The singer lost her cool as, ironically, she was about to sing a song titled No More Drama … Diva she may be but, to be fair to Mary J. Blige, she did sing beautifully and by the time she completed her performance her behaviour towards the band was forgiven and she earned a standing ovation … The night’s most amusing sight was observing Joan Collins and sister Jackie on their feet and waving their arms as Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas performed on stage. At least they moved in time to the music. Jennifer Hudson, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for her performance in Dreamgirls, performed a string of its associated with Barbra Streisand. Beforehand Hudson joked that she was frightened she would forget the lyrics. ‘They kept changing what songs I’d sing so I had to stay focused’, Hudson told the Daily Mail. Clive Davis hailed Oscar, Grammy and Tony award winner Streisand as a ‘unique, singular artist’ who boasted a number one album in five consecutive decades. ‘She’s the movie soundtrack of our lives’, Davis said of Streisand. Other big names at the pre-Grammy gig included Oscar winning actor Jamie Foxx and Harry Connick Jr. Rhianna sat at a prime table in the ‘pit’. This time last year she was seated at a similar table with Chris Brown … His name was missing from every Grammy party this weekend. However, Rhianna’s career has never been hotter and on Saturday everyone in the international ballroom queued to hug her.

Yes, as you may recall it was after Clive Davis‘s Pre-Grammy Gala last year that Brown brutally and criminally assaulted Rihanna. I’m so happy to see that Rihanna had no qualms about attending this event a year later, especially considering the horrible memories it is bound to dredge up. Grammy weekend does not get started until Clive throws his party so … it is now officially upon us. The Grammy Awards air LIVE on the East Coast starting at 8pm ET. Make sure you pick up your 3D glasses at Target so you can watch the tribute to Michael Jackson in 3D:

Merry Mickey Xmas!!!
Celebs Team Up With Disney To Ring In The Holidays

Celebs like American Idol winner Kris Allen, The Jonas Brothers, Céline Dion, Mariah Carey‘s husband Nick Cannon and others were on hand to pre-tape live performances at Disney World this week for airing on TV on Xmas night. Here are a few pics of these celebs posing for fun pics at the Magic Kingdom this week and some deets about the upcoming TV special set to air on Xmas:

‘Tis the season to be merry at Disney Parks, when the 26th annual “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade,” featuring award-winning musical talent and iconic stars performing in this year’s television special, airs December 25 on ABC-TV. This year’s show promises to dazzle viewers with must-see performances by Celine Dion and Stevie Wonder. Pop sensations the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato spread joy to all as enchanting sounds from world-renowned musical artist Yanni and his Yanni Voices echo through the park. “American Idol” Season 8 winner, Kris Allen, will perform and “Wizards of Waverly Place” star Selena Gomez will make a special appearance in the annual telecast. From the newest Disney Princess – Tiana – to Mickey Mouse and all his ‘toon pals,’ beloved Disney characters will embrace the holiday spirit aboard awe-inspiring floats that “deck the halls” as they glide through the Disney theme parks. Two of television’s most popular celebrities will appear as the hosts of this year’s program. From the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida, popular morning show personality Kelly Ripa returns as host, doubling her duties while partner Regis Philbin recovers from recent surgery. At Disneyland Park in California, worldwide television and radio host Ryan Seacrest takes center stage for the West Coast festivities. Nick Cannon, from “America’s Got Talent” makes his “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” television debut as co-host/man-on-the-street for the telecast. The two-hour televised special will air nationally in High-definition December 25 on ABC-TV at 10 a.m. Eastern and 9 a.m. Central, Mountain and Pacific times.

Sounds cute, right? I love me some Disney family fun so this might be worth watchin’ but I actually prefer enjoying my Disney fun in person. Nothing takes the place of the fun you can have hanging out at Disneyland in person. Even so … I prolly won’t be able to resist watching Céline Dion bust out in seizures as she belts her those holiday tunes. I guess it might be fun to watch. Will you be tuning in for this?
