Clocking in at 2 minutes, I’m thinkin’ the full version of this commercial will only be airing during the wee hours of night … but I suspect an edited version will be showing up in primetime. Who’s excited?

Madonna Celebrates The Release Of The Fan Version Of Her New Music Video ‘Celebration’

At the start of this month, Madonna released the music video for her new single Celebration which is the first single to be released from her latest greatest hits compilation of the same name. Today we get to check out the second Fan Version of the music video of Celebration which features scenes of a dancing Madge interspersed with scenes of her biggest fans dancing along to the track. Madonna‘s eldest child, Lourdes Maria, also appears in the clip (much like she did in the first version of the clip). Here are a few screencaps from the Fan Version of the Celebration music video:

I do love the idea of using real Madonna fans in this music video … it deffo gives the clip much more personality. Seeing all the different Madonna looks is also really fun. Throwing Lourdes in there in Madonna‘s old Like a Virgin wedding dress is just too cute … if slightly inappropriate. After the jump, check out the Fan Version of the Celebration music video in full …

"Life no longer seemed like a series of Random events"
Madonna Shares Her Spiritual Awakening With The World

Madonna has opened up and shared the circumstances surrounding her religious spiritual awakening in a new article she penned for Isreal’s biggest daily newspaper Yediot Ahronot. On Friday, the newspaper published the article written by Madonna (whose Hebrew name is Esther) wherein she talks about how she discovered the true teachings of Kabbalah after she completed her work filming the movie Evita and giving birth to her firstborn child Lourdes Maria. Here is a report on Maddy‘s religious-themed newspaper article:

After a long career as a singer, dancer, new-age seeker and megacelebrity, Madonna added a new item to her resume Friday — Israeli newspaper correspondent. An article in Friday’s edition of Israel’s biggest daily, Yediot Ahronot, bears the Material Girl’s byline. It describes her spiritual awakening upon discovering Jewish mysticism, called Kabbalah, after which, she writes, “all the puzzle pieces started falling into place.” Madonna is bringing her Sticky & Sweet tour to Israel in September, which no doubt explains the timing of her journalism debut here. But she also has ties to Israel and Judaism through her involvement with the Los Angeles-based Kabbalah Center, whose new-age version of Judaism’s ancient mystic tradition has become popular among members of Hollywood’s A-list. The 50-year-old pop icon has taken the Hebrew name Esther and came to Israel on private pilgrimages in 2004 and 2007 along with other Kabbalah devotees. In the article, Madonna, who was raised Roman Catholic, describes hearing about Kabbalah for the first time at a dinner party in Los Angeles while pregnant with her daughter Lourdes, who is now 12. She had recently completed a star turn in the movie Evita, she writes, but “still felt like something was missing in my life.” She went to her first class, taught by a teacher named Eitan, after years of practicing yoga and reading about Buddhism, Taoism and early Christianity. “I heard what he had to say and I knew at this moment my life would never be the same,” she writes in the article, which the paper published both in Hebrew and in the original — and apparently unedited — English. “Life no longer seemed like a series of Random events,” she writes. “I also began to see that being Rich and Famous wasn’t going to bring me lasting fulfillment and that it was not the end of the journey.” … Jewish tradition has long held that Kabbalah is so complicated and so easily misunderstood that students may only begin to approach it with a strong background in Jewish law and only after age 40. The discipline’s elements include the study of mystical texts, prayer and meditation in an attempt to draw closer to the divine. The criticism appears to have had no effect on Madonna’s popularity among Israelis. Originally scheduled to give one concert in Tel Aviv, Madonna added a second after the first show quickly sold out. Madonna’s last concert in Israel was in 1993, during her “Girlie Show” tour.

Fascinating, I wish this article were available in full online somewhere. I would love to read the whole thing. Madonna has not really talked at any real length about her spiritual awakening. I’m very curious to read in full her thoughts on the matter. These excerpts do give a nice peek at her new religious life, tho. If anyone finds the article in full, please pass it along.

Plus the ‘Celebration’ single gets new artwork
First Listen: Madonna, ‘Celebration’

A week ago today we got our first look at the album artwork for Madonna‘s latest greatest hits album Celebration and today we get our first look at the single coverartwork for the title track. Celebration will be released to radio on Friday July 31 and will be available for download at Amazon (DRM free) and iTunes next Tuesday August 4:

My compatriots, my friends, my peeps … I have been sent the full HQ version of this track and let me assure you, it is AWESOME! It’s the best single Madonna has released since Confessions on a Dancefloor. In fact, it has that great clubby sound that her single Get Together has … it’s one of those songs that you can totally lose yourself to on the dancefloor. To be 100% completely honest, I haven’t stopped playing the song since I first played it. It’s really goooood. Don’t believe me … then listen for yourselves. After the jump, hear the song in full …

'Celebration' good times, come on!
First Look: Madonna, ‘Celebration’

On Tuesday we got our first tiny tease of the new promo materials for Madonna‘s new 2-disc greatest hits album titled Celebration and today we get our first look at the cover artwork for the package. As you may recall, on Tuesday we saw two short teaser video clips that featured Andy Warhol-like graphics and today we learn that the official album artwork for Madonna‘s new greatest hits package features the same theme. Here is her new album artwork long with the press release for Celebration:

Madonna, who has racked up a record 37 top 10 hits as well as seven No. 1 albums (including her last four) on the Billboard Pop Charts, has given her fans yet another opportunity to “celebrate” her musical achievements. Today, Warner Bros. Records officially confirmed the September 28th release in the U.S. (September 29 outside U.S.) of “CELEBRATION” – the ultimate compilation of Madonna songs. The songs on “Celebration” have all been remastered and selected by Madonna and her fans. They cover the expanse of the Material Girl’s extraordinary career of hits including “Everybody,” “Express Yourself,” “Vogue” and “4 Minutes.” “Celebration” will be available in a two-CD set as well as a single CD. There will also be a “Celebration” DVD released simultaneously which includes the video visionary’s best videos including several that have never before been available on DVD. “Celebration,” the CD will also include two new songs that were recently recorded in New York City. The first single, also titled, “Celebration,” co-produced by Madonna and Paul Oakenfold, will be released August 3rd. A video for the single, which will be included on the “Celebration” DVD was just filmed in Milan, Italy and was directed by long time Madonna collaborator Jonas (“Ray of Light”) Akerlund. Several dance club remixes of “Celebration” are already headed to the clubs. The song will also be available on CD and vinyl maxi. Radio will receive the “Celebration” single on August 3rd. The cover for “Celebration” was created by street pop artist “Mr. Brainwash” who is best known for “throwing modern cultural icons into a blender and turning it up to eleven.” Madonna, a multi Grammy award winning singer, writer and producer has had over 12 No. 1 singles and has a record-smashing 39 No. 1 singles on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs Chart – by far the most of any artist in the over 30 year history of the list.

Okay … so the cover art is pretty cool but I’m not sure I’m feelin’ the scowl on Maddy‘s face. She looks disgusted, not celebratory. In any regard, it’s a very striking cover and I’m sure it’ll do well with fans. I’m bummed to learn that there are only 2 new songs on the disc rather than the 3 we’ve been hearing about. Now that we know what’s in store, we can better judge whether or not this 2-disc greatest hits package is worth picking up. So … who’s buying?

"And you can dance"
First Tease: Madonna, ‘Celebration’

Last month we learned that Madonna has titled her latest Greatest Hits album Iconography and plans to release it on September 22 BUT, we’ve since learned that the album will actually be titled Celebration (with the first single also titled Celebration) and will be released on September 28. Today we get our first tease of the promo campaign for the album’s release. Here is a screencap from the new teaser video for Madonna‘s greatest hits album:

This teaser video is really short, it’s only 5 secs … but I do like the graphics. After the jump, check it out for yourselves — but make sure you don’t blink and miss it …

'Iconography' 'Celebration' reportedly due out in September
Madonna Reveals The Title & Release Date Of Her Greatest Hits Album

A new report out today claims that Madonna‘s new greatest hits album, her last album for Warner Bros., is scheduled for release in September … going head to head to head with new releases from Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. According to Examiner.com, the disc will be titled Iconography and may be released on September 22 BUT … they got the title wrong … it is actually titled Celebration and will be released September 28:

This column has been told that Madonna is getting ready to release her greatest hits album, Iconography, in September – possibly September 22. It will be her final album with Warner Brothers and it will contain three new songs. The timing of the album’s release may be bad. Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey are going to be releasing albums around the same time. Whitney Houston’s Undefeated is due on September 1, one week after Mariah Carey’s Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel. Then again, having three divas release albums at the same time may be good for the record industry and the economy. But if Madonna and Whitney Houston go the Mariah route and release new material that is as uncreative and boring as Mariah’s new single Obsessed, the record industry may suffer even more.

While I question the need for another Madonna Greatest Hits album, I am interested in hearing what her three new songs sound like. I understand the song titles for the new tracks are Broken, I’m Sorry and Celebration. Despite the fact that I’m intrigued by these new songs, I’m even more interested in the release of her new album — the first for her new record label with Live Nation. Here’s hoping that these three new tracks will give us a good taste for the direction that her music is heading … which can be very good or very, very bad news.
