Enjoying his hiatus from 'Southland'
Benjamin McKenzie Hits The Beach In Miami

Benjamin McKenzie, who received good news last Spring when NBC renewed his show Southland and then received bad news this Fall when he learned that NBC canceled his TV series Southland, was spotted enjoying some downtime in Miami Beach, FL this week lookin’ like he doesn’t have a care in the world. Altho NBC canceled his series, TNT picked up the show and will begin airing the 6 already-filmed eps that NBC decided not to air … based on how well those eps do in the ratings, TNT may order new eps of the show. Clearly, Ben is using this impromptu hiatus to max and relax in Miami while he can:

TNT has obtained the rights for the 13 existing episodes of Southland, including six that have never aired. The 13-episode block will premiere on TNT on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 10/9c. A TNT rep confirmed that the network will evaluate the performance of the show before deciding whether to order additional episodes. “We’re delighted that TNT has stepped forward to pick up Southland. We are all extremely proud of the show,” said executive producer John Wells (ER, The West Wing). NBC canceled the edgy cop series last month, before its second season premiered, claiming the show was too dark and gritty for its timeslot.

Now, I wasn’t a fan of Southland but David LOVES the show … he was pretty bummed when he found out about its cancellation. I guess we’ll have to see if Southland does well enough on TNT to warrant new eps … in the meantime, tho, it appears that Ben will remain calm, cool and collected while he waits to learn the fate of his show. I just wish he would remain calm, cool and collected while wearing a bit less clothing ;)

The Resistance isn't futile
‘Terminator: Salvation’ Premieres In Hollywood

Christian Bale, Aussie newcomer Sam Worthington and more were on hand here in LA last night for the Hollywood premiere of their new movie Terminator: Salvation. Celebs of varying degree made their way out to Grauman’s Chinese Theater for last night’s event. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals along with a report from last night’s soiree:

Christian Bale was all smiles during his red carpet walk for the premiere of his latest action film “Terminator Salvation” held at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Thursday, May 14. No sign of that angry actor who so famously went off on the film’s director of photography; instead, he hugged his wife Sibi Blazic to his side and behaved. Perhaps that’s because it isn’t Bale who is getting all the attention for this fourth installment in “The Terminator” series that began way back in 1984. That honor goes to Australian actor Sam Worthington, who breaks out in a big way in the massive action flick. The former bricklayer from Perth is the man of the hour, as was obvious at the elaborate after party set up in a parking lot across Hollywood Boulevard. As spotlights swept the scene and massive robots loomed over the revelers, Worthington was mobbed by excited new fans. He hung on tight to girlfriend Natalie Mark, and seemed to take it all in stride. “I think I’m in a lucky position to be getting offered roles that I find interesting,” said the 32-year-old actor who spent ten years working in Australian film, television, and theater before taking the leap to Hollywood. “I’m working with some very talented people and hopefully telling some good stories. And hopefully my work isn’t going to let those people down.” His co-stars on hand seemed happy with his performance as they did the meet-and-greet at the premiere. Moon Bloodgood, Jane Alexander, Anton Yelchin and Bryce Dallas Howard all made the star-studded scene, along with “Terminator” fans like Rose McGowan, Eric Dane, Anil Kapoor, Tyrese Gibson, Kathryn Morris, Brook Burke, Eric Mabius, and Kelly Osbourne. But despite the rumors swirling around the party, it turned out that California’s governor and the original star of “The Terminator” Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver did not make the premiere. They did, however send three of their children to the celebration. Katherine, Patrick, and Christopher Schwarzenegger represented the family, and watched their dad’s robot character return to the role that made him a household name 25 years ago.

It is a huge compliment to get top billing with a star like Christian Bale so it seems that Sam Worthington is really making his mark in Hollywood. You will note that both of their names are listed on the poster artwork for this film. I am not familiar with any of Worthington‘s previous work but something tells me that we will be hearing a lot more about him soon. I understand that he has signed on to appear in the new James Cameron big budget blockbuster Avatar and he will be starring in the updated remake of Clash of the Titans. I am really anxious to see Terminator: Salvation cuz I’ve been hearing really great things. Here’s hopin’ the Aussie can keep up with the superstar Welsh Brit and hold his own as a leading man in this much anticipated action flick.

My fave show I'm not watching
NBC Renews ‘Southland’, Ben McKenzie Remains Arrestingly Hawt

Good news for fans of the new NBC cop drama Southland which stars Benjamin McKenzie and Michael CudlitzNBC has ordered 13 more eps of the midseason replacement series for airing next season. I must confess that while I’ve never watched a single ep of the show, I kinda love it because there is a main gay character (who isn’t a run-of-the-mill stereotype) and because Ben McKenzie looks great in a cop uniform. Here are a couple pics of Ben shooting new scenes on the SoCal set of Southland this week:

NBC has renewed the cop drama “Southland,” picking up 13 episodes of the series. The Los Angeles-set show, which stars Ben McKenzie, was a late addition to NBC’s midseason slate. It got off to a strong start in “ER”‘s Thursday 10 p.m. slot. The ratings have since slipped, but the network brass has been high on “Southland” for its broad appeal, creative potential and producer John Wells’ (“ER”) solid track record as a showrunner.

David actually watches Southland and he loves the show cuz it’s good but as I said, I just like the uniforms ;) I suppose I should start watching the show myself … now that NBC will be bringing it back for more eps, I’ll have more time to get invested. Do any of y’all watch Southland? Am I missing out?

You have the right to remain hawt
Benjamin McKenzie Isn’t A Cop, He Just Poses As One On Set

It’s been an ice age since we’ve seen Benjamin McKenzie on the small screen (when last we saw him on TV he was the bad boy from The OC) but NEVER FEAR … he’s back. The struggling network NBC is premiering a new series called Southland which features Ben in the role of Ben Sherman, mall cop police officer. McKenzie is paired up with character actor Michael Cudlitz who you may recognize as the “douchey” guy from Beverly Hills, 90210 … among other “douchey” roles he’s played on other shows. My guess is that he plays a “douchey” cop in this series but that is unimportant right now. Here are a few photos of Ben and Michael standing around and posing in their police uniforms on the SoCal set of Southland this week:

Lawd … I could really get into seeing Benjamin in a cop uniform from week to week but I fear that this show won’t be able to keep my interests beyond that to keep me coming back week after week. Nothing that NBC has put on the air in recent weeks and months has really grabbed my attention. Kath & Kim just had its season finale and I was so blah about the whole season. Mya Rudolph was a great mid-season addition but, overall, the show just doesn’t entertain me. Heroes, I’m sorry to say, hasn’t been interesting to me for months. I still have the last 5 eps saved on my DVR but just can’t be arsed to watch them … I don’t care any more. David and I watched Kings on Sunday night … didn’t do a thing for me. There is so much other interesting stuff to watch that I don’t even think about NBC anymore. I’m willing to give Southland a try but … I’m not holding my breath. What do y’all think … is the sight of Benjamin McKenzie in a cute little cop uniform enough to get you to tune in? Any OC old-skoolers in the hiz?

They're just like us!
Celebs Voted!

Woot! A new day has dawned here in America … and the World … and while there is still much to celebrate, there is also much work to get done in the aftermath. It’s also time to get back to the goss ;) Yesterday I created a photo album of friends and Pink readers proudly showing off the I Voted stickers (or handmade signs) that they were given after they voted yesterday and today we get to see a whole bunch of photos of celebs showing off their I Voted stickers, too. Americans came out in record numbers to vote yesterday and those numbers included celebs … here are a few of them who exercised their right to vote yesterday:

Depending on where the celebs live, these photos were snapped in NYC and here in LA. Here is another batch of celebs who came out to vote yesterday:

I’m pretty sure that some of these celebs were voting for President for the first time in their lives and it seems pretty safe to assume that the lion’s share of them added to President-elect Barack Obama‘s historic win.

I’ve been getting emails and messages from around the World of folks cheering on Obama‘s victory as news of his election as the 44th President of the United States of America made headlines around the world. Here are a few of the UK papers splashing the news across their covers:

David tells me that newsstands all over NYC are selling out of copies of The New York Times, etc. so I would suggest that y’all snap up your local newspapers — wherever in the country you are — and put them away for posterity. I’m just sayin’ ;)

Madonna was in concert in San Diego, CA last night and was on stage when news of Obama‘s win was announced … she happily broke the news to her assembled audience and talked a little bit about the momentous nature of the win while on stage. After the jump, check out video of her impromptu speech …
