For the past year or so, it has been rumored that Rihanna and Drake (neé Aubrey Graham) were more than just friends … and today, TMZ brings us photographic evidence that the rumors may be true. Apparently the couple were spotted canoodling in a dark club together and they were lookin’ much more than friends. Click below to check out the grainy photo and see for yourselves.

Earlier today we learned that the relatively unknown artists Esperanza Spalding (Best New Artist) and Arcade Fire (Album of the Year) took home two of the biggest awards at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards last night … but right now, we get to check out some photos from some of the other Grammy attendees and winners from last night’s show. The big winner of the night was Country act Lady Antebellum. They walked away with two of the most prestigious Grammy Awards of the year — Record of the Year and Song of the Year — and won 5 of their 6 nominations. BUT, there were other winners as well. It was a big night for music here in LA last night.

Yesterday we got our first look at Babe of the Year Scarlett Johansson on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of GQ magazine … today, it’s the boys’ turn. GQ has selected the Men of the Year for 2010 and here is our first look at some of the years honorees:

Jeff Bridges has been named the Icon of the Year, Drake has been named the Breakout of the Year, James Franco has been named the Leading Man of the Year and Stephen Colbert has been named the Patriot of the Year. Last night Detroit, MI played host to one of the biggest hip hop concerts that ever was as hometown boy Eminem and NYC’s Jay-Z played the first of their Home and Home Tour shows at Comerica Park (home of the Detroit Tigers baseball team) in downtown Detroit:

The whole night was just beyond huge … I’m having a hard time processing everything that went down because A LOT of shizz went down in Detroit Rock City last night. New R&B artist Drake (née Aubrey Graham) has released his debut music video for his debut single Best I Ever Had. The video was directed by Kanye West and is the lead single from Drake‘s as yet unreleased debut album Thank Me Later. Here are a few screencaps from the just released music video:

As you may recall, Drake has been romantically linked with Rihanna and has been taken under the wings of both Kanye West (who directed his video), Jay-Z (who is rumored to have offered Drake a very lucrative record deal) and Lil’ Wayne (who has been mentoring his career thus far). Last night the 9th annual BET Awards were handed out at the Shrine Auditorium here in Los Angeles, CA and earlier today we saw video of Janet Jackson‘s appearance on the awards show where she delivered a statement to fans of her late brother Michael Jackson. As I noted earlier, the entire BET Awards were a tribute to Michael‘s memory. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals from last night’s awards show:

I LOVED seeing the cast of Bravo TV‘s The Real Housewives of Atlanta … including alums NeNe Leakes (FTW!), Lisa Wu Hartwell, Sheree Whitfield and new castmember Kandi Burruss. I am really looking forward to the return of the Atlanta Housewives in August :) I also love the photo of Zoe Saldana and Nichelle Nichols (who both portrayed the Star Trek character Uhura) together on the red carpet … beautiful, beautiful ladies. The show itself was very entertaining … in between award presentations and live performances, host Jamie Foxx made sure to remind the audience that this year’s BET Awards was a true celebration of Michael Jackson‘s legacy. Here are a few pics from the show itself and a rundown of what went down:

Michael Jackson’s sister Janet thanked the crowd at the BET Awards Sunday night for paying tribute to her late brother. “My entire family wanted to be here, but it was just too painful,” she said, holding back tears. “To you Michael is an icon. To us Michael is family. And he will forever live in all of our hearts.” The star-studded BET Awards was an appreciation of Michael Jackson, who died Thursday at age 50. He was “the greatest star in the world,” Joseph Jackson, father of the late entertainer, said on Sunday night. “I wish the world had recognized him when he were living,” Joseph Jackson told CNN’s Don Lemon outside the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. “Right now he’s bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this.” When asked about circumstances surrounding his son’s death, he said, “I have a lot of concerns but I can’t get into that. … I don’t like what happened.” The awards opened with a fleet-footed New Edition, with Bobby Brown, performing an energized version of the Jackson 5 hit “The Love You Save,” to raucous praise. Host Jamie Foxx wore a red, leather “Beat It” jacket for his opening monologue and did his best to imitate Jackson’s backward glide across the floor. In addition to Foxx, presenter Jeremy Piven mixed praise for Jackson with comic relief. “If it wasn’t for Michael Jackson, people like Justin Timberlake would be selling curly fries in the valley,” the actor said. “I mean that with love.” This year’s performers included, Beyonce, Keyshia Cole and R&B artist Neyo who performed a hard-hitting tribute to the 1990s with appearances by acts Keith Sweat, Guy and Bell Biv Devoe. The presenters included the past and present Uhura of “Star Trek”: Zoe Saldana, who starred in the film, and Nichelle Nichols of the TV show. The show also honored the soulful Ohio trio, The O’Jays, who were presented the Lifetime Achievement Award. Tevin Campbell performed a rendition of The O’Jays classic “Forever Mine.” Johnny Gill, Tyrese and Trey Songz performed a rumbling, soulful medley of The O’Jays hits that had some in the audience wondering if Songz was older than his years. Among the award winners, Atlanta, Georgia-based singer Keri Hilson, who was nominated in four categories, received best new artist and Beyonce won best female artist. Debra L. Lee, chairman and chief executive officer of Black Entertainment Television, said Jackson’s death both saddened and energized the awards organizers. “When we heard the news of Michael Jackon’s passing we knew immediately we’d have to change the nature of this show,” she said. “We put the show together in a matter of three or four days. It’s truly been a labor of love for us,” Lee said.

I was able to watch the show myself and it really was a very celebratory event. Except for a few touching moments, it really looked like everyone was having a great time. To be honest, I think that is the best way to honor someone’s passing. It was said many times during the BET Awards show last night — Michael Jackson was directly responsible for last night’s awards show. His trailblazing legacy as an African American performer paved the way for all of the African American artists who are enjoying successful careers today. I think it was right that his contributions were honored … and celebrated. Congrats to all of this year’s winners of BET Awards.

With Chris Brown‘s court date coming up in a couple of weeks where he will face charges that he assaulted ex-girlfriend Rihanna on February 8 of this year, it looks like Rihanna is moving forward with a possible new romantic interest. Ri Ri has been spotted in the company of a Canadian rapper named Aubrey Drake Graham for the past few weeks and just last night was spied canoodling with the man once again in NYC … adding fuel to the speculation that she has, indeed, coupled up with Graham:

On the day it was announced that Rihanna would be forced to testify against ex-boyfriend Chris Brown at a June 22 hearing into his assault case, the “Umbrella” singer hit the town with friends – including Aubrey “Drake” Graham, the Canadian rapper to whom she’s recently been linked. The pair were spotted smooching on May 18 at Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge in Manhattan. On Wednesday night, Rihanna and Graham (who goes by the name Drake) laughed and chatted at a bash for the Black Eyed Peas’ Target deluxe version of their album, The E.N.D., held at the N.Y.C. nightspot The Griffin. Rihanna – looking stunning in a light grey sweater dress and large hoop earrings – arrived at The Griffin shortly after 11:30 p.m. and stayed nearly two hours. Drake left a bit earlier – only to wait outside the club’s front doors. Both he and Rihanna drove off at the same time, in separate vehicles. While in the club, a happy-looking Rihanna, 21, appeared to be enjoying herself, holding court in a banquette to the left of the stage, where will.i.am DJ-ed the party – and gave an affectionate shout-out to Rihanna when she entered the club. Besides mingling with fellow guest Wilmer Valderrama, Rihanna also walked hand-in-hand up to the DJ booth with Fergie.

Aww … while it’s entirely possible that Rihanna is merely taking comfort in the care and attention from Drake Graham, it’s nice to hear that she is doing well after what she allegedly went thru with Chris. I imagine it must be very difficult to open one’s self up to another person romantically after being assaulted (a fact that cannot be denied) so if she really is coupling up with this new guy, he must be taking good care of her. I am very relieved that the case against Chris Brown is moving forward. If he is truly innocent, then he will have the chance to prove so in a court of law. If he is guilty of his crimes, I hope he is punished to the full extent of the law. As for Rihanna … I just hope she is happy. If this guy makes her happy, then I’m all for their new found relationship.
