"I love witty [men]. I love mental strength ... That turns me on."
Ricky Martin Does ‘Attitude’ Magazine

Ricky Martin, who just this week gave us our first look at the album artwork for his new album Música Alma Sexo, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Attitude magazine. Attitude is said to be the best selling gay magazine in the UK … and with cover features like this new one of Ricky, I can understand why.

McFly Does ‘Attitude’ Magazine

British boyband McFly are featured on the cover and in the pages of the gay UK magazine Attitude. Now, to my knowledge, none of the boys in McFly are gay but they do seem to be very fond of catering to their gay fans by appearing in gay publications as if it were no big thing. Here is McFly‘s hot new coverphoto for Attitude magazine:

I am really impressed that the boys in McFly are so at ease with themselves that they have no qualms at all about posing in a magazine like Attitude. When some celebs would shy away completely from having any association with gay publications, McFly are happy to do whatever they can for their adoring fans. If that means posing in a hawt shoot in the pages of Attitude mag, then so be it. After the jump, check out some of the photos of McFly in this new issue of Attitude

The CAMP Issue
Kylie Minogue Does ‘Attitude’ Magazine

Kylie Minogue, whose new album Aphrodite will be released here in the US next week, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the UK magazine Attitude. This new issue is the mag’s Camp Issue so obviously they had to put the queen of camp Kylie Minogue on the cover. In her coverstory interview, Kylie reveals some of the regrets she has about her last album X:

KYLIE MINOGUE regrets not pushing record company bosses to allow songs about her cancer battle on her last album, X – because she poured her heart and soul into the emotional tracks. The Aussie superstar was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and underwent intensive chemotherapy treatment, which caused her to lose her hair. As soon as it grew back, Minogue headed into the studio and spent “insane, emotional” sessions recording with producer pal Biff Stannard. But label bosses rejected the personal tracks for inclusion on her 2007 album X – and Minogue admits she’ll always regret not convincing them to change their minds. She tells Britain’s Attitude magazine, “As soon as I could get back in the studio, I went with hair not a centimetre long, I ran in there with Biff and we did five days of insane, emotional… the two of us will never forget it. I’d written songs about my experience, my illness, and they didn’t make the album, I even don’t know why. If they just weren’t good enough songs, or the record company didn’t think they were appropriate, I don’t know. So there’s a little regret about that.”

Personally, I love X … there are so many great, upbeat tracks on that album … I have no complaints. But, I can absolutely see where Kylie is coming from. I’m sure writing about her cancer battle was very cathartic. It’s a shame that none of that music made it on the album. I’m certain her record label was adamant about her not releasing a “cancer album” but still … after all of Kylie‘s successes, they could’ve let her make the album she truly wanted to make. She is such a survivor … and she’s always got a smile on her face. I just love her … and I can’t wait to see the photos from this Attitude photospread.

Reveals how the new Scissor Sisters album was saved
Jake Shears Does ‘Attitude’ Magazine

Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears, who bared his hawt bod on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Têtu magazine last month, is once again showin’ off his hawtness on the cover of the new issue of Attitude magazine this month. Unfortch, the Attitude website does not feature any photos from his photoshoot nor does it feature his coverstory interivew … thankfully, Spinner posted a new article that explains how Jake managed to save the new Scissor Sisters album from ruination … on the advice of Pet Shop Boys frontman Neil Tennant:

“We were excited about new directions and new things and we took the music to one of our friends that we have entrusted our music to in the past and it was sort of met with a resounding, ‘Weh, it’s all right,’” Sisters matriarch Ana Matronic tells Spinner. “When you get a tepid reaction like that, it definitely makes you examine what you’ve been doing and scratch your head a little bit.” Shears didn’t have a lot of time for scratching his head. He’d already been pulling double duty, working on the SS album and a musical version of Armistead Maupin’s ‘Tales of the City.’ The answer was to find himself, again, by getting out of town … While Shears was cutting loose in Germany, he found what he needed to reignite his creativity after a conversation with sometime Berlin resident Neil Tennant. The Pet Shop Boys singer suggested Shears call up the band’s old pal — and Madonna producer — Stuart Price. “Neil said, ‘Why don’t you just call Stuart and see what’s going on?’ At that point, I think Jake was just looking for a really good friend and a good sounding board to bounce off ideas,” Matronic says … “[Jake] was so excited and Stuart was so excited. Stuart said to Jake, ‘I would drop everything to make a record with you guys.’ So that next weekend, Stuart and Babydaddy were out in Berlin and then a week or two after that, I went to London to work in the studio with them,” she explains of the writing sessions that resulted in their real third album, ‘Night Works,’ which is due June 29. “It was all just this great creative explosion, all caused by Neil Tennant.” The new version of the album, a glittering, 80′s-influenced dance-floor pop explosion sat more than well with the friends they played the first version to. “People jumped up and down and clapped like little kids,” Matronic says, laughing. “[It] was really exciting.”

I’m of the mind that Stuart Price is a genius producer. He worked his magic for Madonna (Confessions on the Dancefloor is Maddy‘s best album of the past 10 years) and also worked his magic on Kylie Minogue‘s upcoming new album Aphrodite, due out in stores next month (incidentally, Kylie hooked up with Stuart on the advice of Jake Shears after they hooked up for the new Scissor Sisters album Night Work). I am a huge fan of Stuart‘s sound and I cannot wait to hear the new SS album as well as Kylie‘s album. I’m also looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos from Jake‘s Attitude magazine photospread … I can’t help but wonder if he wears these leather pants in all of the photos ;)

"I just loathe homophobia."
Daniel Radcliffe Does ‘Attitude’ Magazine

Daniel Radcliffe, Mr. Harry Potter incarnate, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the UK magazine Attitude and in his coverstory interview, DanRad reveals his political proclivities and expresses his abhorrence of homophobia … which clearly shows that the young man is aces in my book. Here is Dan’s Attitude magazine cover and some excerpts from his coverstory interview:

HARRY Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has confessed in a frank interview to a gay magazine – he is a Liberal Democrat. The handsome actor – who turned 20 yesterday – appears on the latest cover of Attitude and inside reveals his true political feelings. He tells of his deep dislike for Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Tory leader David Cameron. The multi-millionaire also tells how he grew up surrounded by his parents’ gay pals and hates anyone with a homophobic attitude. Radcliffe – who is not gay and is dating actress Laura O’Toole – said: “I just loathe homophobia. It’s just disgusting and animal and stupid and it’s just thick people who can’t get their heads around it and are just scared. “I grew up around gay people entirely. I was the only child in my class who had any experience of homosexuality or anything like that.” The actor – who battles soul-sucking Dementors as the boy wizard and is currently starring in Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince – said he supports Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg because the other parties offer nothing to young people. He said: “I rather like Nick Clegg. At the next election I will almost certainly vote Lib Dem. “If all the people who liked them voted for them you could change politics overnight and we could have a proper three party system.” Asked about Gordon Brown he said: “Paul Merton said, and I agree with him, ‘it’s a tragedy that this man has waited all his life to do this job – and now he finds out he can’t do it.’ “I don’t like the New Labour thing. I never experienced the optimism of New Labour, I was too young but I hear everyone was up and it was fantastic. I’ve only seen the bad years of it.” Radcliffe’s opinion on David Cameron is no more positive. He raged: “No! No, no, no, no, no! David Cameron is barely distinguishable from Tony Blair.” He added: “I think the reason why people don’t vote is because the politicians are all so central now, it doesn’t seem to matter who you vote for.” He also blasted the BNP who won two seats in the recent Euro elections, saying: “I hate any type of prejudice.”

Attaboy … there aren’t many young people who are willing and capable of expressing their political beliefs in such an open manner but Daniel Radcliffe never struck me as the type of person to play coy with his beliefs. The young man has impressed me on numerous occasions and this is but the latest. That, as a straight actor, he would appear on the cover of one of the UK’s most successful gay magazines and talk so candidly about his beliefs is quite a feat. The lad is very intelligent and very well-spoken … he really is a great role model that younger kids can look up to. DanRad is a great guy … I wish more young actors were like him.

"(I was) extremely disappointed"
Tori Amos Voices Her Support For Marriage Equality

In a new interview with Attitude magazine, Tori Amos expresses her disappointment at the fact that California voters could, on the very same day, elect our nation’s first African-American president and also deprive a segment of the citizenry the fundamental right to marry. Now, anyone who is even remotely aware of Tori and her politics should not be surprised by this news at all … even still, at a time when our country still has a long way to go in terms of providing marriage equality for all her comments are definitely worth passing along:

Tori Amos has blasted voters who pushed through a gay marriage ban in California – because it goes against the teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. The God hitmaker, whose father is a Methodist minister, insists outlawing same-sex unions is un-Christian and a breach of civil rights. And she is confused Californian voters passed the Proposition 8 bill – which reversed a previous ruling permitting gay marriage in the state – on the same day Barack Obama was elected U.S. President last year. She tells Attitude magazine, “(I was) extremely disappointed. Well, we go back to this concept of emancipation. The idea of ‘We will overcome’ from the great Dr. Martin Luther King, was made flesh as Obama was put into the office and yet at the same time another group of people were subjugated by some of those voters. “A lot of people were saying, ‘Well you have to understand that a lot of the voters are Democratic and Christians, the ones that had an issue with rights for the gay community’. And I would say how, in any way, is that the Christian path?”

God Bless Tori Amos. I love that the woman never shies away from voicing her opinions. Her point that Christian path is one of love and acceptance is a valid one. There will always be those people who use religion to their own selfish ends … which is sad because those people ruin things for everyone. I’m convinced that marriage equality will be a reality for all in this country some day, hopefully soon. I’m glad to know that the fight for equality for all has an intelligent woman like Tori Amos on its side.
