‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’ Premieres In Hollywood

Michael Cera was joined by co-stars and celeb friends at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA last night for the Hollywood premiere of his new film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Adapted from the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O’Malley, this new film tells the tale of a 23-year old Canadian slacker who falls in love with a girl and must battle her 7 evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart. To be honest, I only had a passing awareness of the graphic novel series but I absolutely fell in love with the movie when I saw the first movie trailer earlier this year. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s movie premiere event:

I’ll be the first to admit that Michael Cera tends to bug the HELL out of me … but I was won over so entirely by the movie trailer that I am willing to overlook that fact and give the movie a chance. The film utilizes elements from comic books and video games to heighten the experience of the movie … it just looks really damn cool. I’ve since checked out some of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels and I’ve determined I like them very much. The animation in the books is very simple but effective … I really like the cuteness of the books. I’m hoping the film will be as fun as the trailer makes it seem. After the jump, check out the video trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World to see what I’m talking about …

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ Premieres In Hollywood

Pretty much everyone and their mother (literally) was at LA Live in downtown LA last night for the Hollywood (and LA Film Festival) premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Not only was pretty much ever actor even remotely associated with the Twilight films in the hiz last night but so, too, were hordes of fans who had camped out for DAYS just to get tickets to attend last night’s premiere. Here are photos of Twilight stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner (currently on the cover of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine) on the red carpet last night and some deets from the event:

Monica Siegel and her two friends dropped a total of $2,500 and flew hundreds of miles to camp out for four days on a patch of sidewalk in downtown Los Angeles with the hope that they might see one of the heartthrob stars of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” Their gamble paid off — and then some. Siegel, 22, of Fennville, Mich., was giddy with excitement after she not only nabbed a prime spot near the red carpet to swoon over the movie’s stars, but also was one of just a few dozen selected to take in the film inside with the stars of the blockbuster vampire series. “It’s completely worth every bit of it,” Siegel said after learning she had scored the premiere seats. “I’m freaking out!” Siegel said the entire experience was great but the best part was seeing the movie with the people who made it. “Kristen (Stewart) was amazing. She actually talked with us and paid attention to what we were saying instead of rushing by. The whole night is one big, happy memory,” Siegel said. Siegel, 21-year-old Amanda Willis of Dallas, and 25-year-old Melissa Moorhead of Seattle were among thousands of so-called “Twi-hards” who had flocked to the Nokia Theatre at the L.A. Live entertainment complex since early this week, camping out in a specially designated tent city for a fleeting glimpse of stars such as Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Up to 9,000 people were issued wristbands for a chance to see the film. At least 550 early birds, like Siegel, were ensured a spot along the red carpet, which was black for the occasion. Celebrities working their way down the carpet before the premiere were swarmed with screaming, frantic fans. Stewart, who plays Bella, took the fandemonium in stride. “It’s really only seemingly crazy when the movies come out, and you want that. I usually live a normal life,” Stewart said. Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob, was asked if he ever wished he was less popular. “I don’t think I’m popular. I think it’s the character,” Lautner said. “I’m grateful to be here, and I’m grateful for the fans.” Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward, said of the frenzy: “I tune it all out ’til later. You get used to it, but it’s still a struggle.” Dakota Fanning, who plays the vampire Jane, said she was amazed by the fan presence — even in comparison with what she has seen in her own childhood acting career. “It’s really exciting. I don’t think I’ll ever be part of something like this for the rest of my life,” she said. “It’s really kind of surreal.” AEG, which owns L.A. Live and distributed the premiere wristbands with Summit Entertainment, screened “New Moon” for fans Tuesday night. On Wednesday, the film’s actors, Peter Facinelli, Billy Burke, Julia James and Jackson Rathbone, distributed hamburgers, CDs and makeup in the tent city. “It’s not very often in this business that you get to come out here and do something like this,” Burke said. “The fans of these movies are so gracious and lovely. It’s great to do anything we can.” Stephanie Tregea, 19, drove 500 miles from Upper Lake, in Northern California, to attend the premiere. She wore a black T-shirt that said “Team Carlisle,” and held a sign that read: “My cat died while I’ve been in line. (Peter, comfort me during this sadness).” It got her an extended embrace from Facinelli, who plays Cullen patriarch Carlisle. Tregea said she is concerned about a Twilight jinx, because her dog died as she waited in line for the “New Moon” premiere last year. She debated not seeing the next installment. “It’s been hectic and stressful because there’s a lot of people,” said Tregea, who alternated camping out with sleeping in a hotel room shared with two friends. Amanda Belcher, 27, a mom from Scranton, Pa., who took a week off work at a public affairs agency to camp out for the premiere, said the experience was worth it. “It’s a great way to bring people together,” Belcher said. “It’s like intense friendship building.”

Dang, that’s devotion. I only camped out over night once (in an alley in downtown Detroit for tix to a tiny Tori Amos club show at my fave Detroit venue St. Andrew’s Hall back in 1998) but I think I can appreciate the devotion felt by these fans. Thousands of people waited countless hours in line yesterday just to buy an iPhone 4 … fans are fans, and we are all fans of something. I’m just glad to hear that these kids (and moms) who camped out for so long managed to be successful in their endeavor to get up close to their fave Twilight stars. And speaking of … check out some photos of some of the celebs who walked the red carpet last night, after the jump …

Brooklyn Beckham makes his red carpet debut
Celebs Join LG For ‘A Night Of Fashion & Technology’

Victoria Beckham and BFF Eva Longoria played hosts at a soirée at the SoHo House West Hollywood here in SoCal last night for LG Mobile‘s A Night of Fashion and Technology. While a few big name celebs attended last night’s fête, the event proved to be the red carpet debut for a young, up-and-coming celeb … Brooklyn Beckham:

Like father, like son – even when it comes to peculiar dressing habits, it seems. David Beckham would have enjoyed seeing pictures of his 11-year-old son Brooklyn coping his style for a red carpet event with mother Victoria in Los Angeles last night. Wearing his shirt untucked on one side, a loose granddad-style cardigan, dark rinse jeans and trendy trainers, Brooklyn showed a sense of humour, if he did look a little nervous, at the LG Fashion Touch party. As a red carpet novice, Brooklyn was grateful for the encouragement of his mother – who is something of a veteran at this stage. But while Victoria, 36, was clearly in her element with her eldest child at the event, she didn’t forget her style icon status, and reinvented herself once again by debuting a new hairstyle. Posh is famous for her ever-changing locks, but seems to have finally found the best look for her after replacing her usual poker-straight brunette waves with a multi-layered, wavy look.

The former Spice Girls star dazzled in a ‘Cloud’ dress from her own collection – a short version of the full-length gown she wore to the Oscars in March. While Beckham was queen of the red carpet, Longoria made a rare fashion faux pas with her bizarre mini-dress. The Desperate Housewives star, 35, was wearing a black and grey frilly mini, with a chiffon style blouse attached the top. Perhaps feeling a tad jet-lagged after returning from her recent jaunt to Cannes, Longoria appeared a bit heavy-handed with the concealer under her eyes, which stood out next to her olive skin. Beckham and Longoria were hosting the bash at Soho House, which was billed as ‘a night of fashion and technology’. Longoria and Beckham managed to draw a host of Hollywood stars to the bash, including Jessica Simpson, Vanessa Hudgens, Selma Blair and Twilight star Anna Kendrick. Simpson, who attended with her younger sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, squeezed her curvy figure into a very tight black and grey jersey mini from the Spring/Summer 2010 Beckham collection … Beckham and Longoria recently starred in advertising campaign for the new Fashion Touch phones, with the two models reflecting the personalities. The Lotus Elite is ‘bold and edgy’ like Beckham, while the Rumor Touch is ‘sleek and classical’ like Longoria.

Aww … I really love that Brooklyn attended last night’s event. He was lookin’ very dapper, much like is father on the red carpet. You will note that homeboy was even wearing a very expensive pair of Louis Vuitton sneakers designed by Kanye West. He is already becoming quite the little fashionista … fashionister? The kid’s got style, it must run in the family. In case you’re not aware, Vicki B. and Eva are featuring in TV commercials for these new LG mobile phones. After the jump, check out one of their commercials to see if YOU are inspired to pick up one of their mobile devices …

'The Hurt Locker' wins big, 'Avatar' shut out
The 2010 BAFTA Awards Are Handed Out

Last night celebs of the silver screen convened at the Royal Opera House in London, England to attend the 2010 British Academy Film Awards which are, essentially, the British Oscars. It THRILLS me beyond belief to pass along the news that The Hurt Locker took home the top prize, pretty much shutting out Avatar from all the big trophies. Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to win the BAFTA Best Director award and her film won 6 of its 8 nominations. Not too shabby, right? Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals and some deets about who won what at last night’s BAFTAs:

The inevitability of a major Oscar-night skirmish between Kathryn Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker” and James Cameron’s “Avatar” continued to grow over the weekend. The Iraq war film won six of the eight categories in which it was nominated at Sunday night’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards. Cameron’s 3-D fantasia was shut out of the major categories, as ex-wife Bigelow became the first woman to take the BAFTAs’ Best Director honor.” The film about a bomb-disposal unit in Iraq also won Best Picture, Cinematography, Editing, Sound and Original Screenplay (for screenwriter Mark Boal). Bigelow dismissed talk of a rivalry with Cameron, saying she was “real honored” to be nominated alongside her former husband. Cameron shouldn’t feel bad, also swept in the major categories was Quentin Tarantino, whose Nazi drama “Inglourious Basterds” got blanked with the exception of a Best Supporting Actor win for the amazing Christoph Waltz. “Avatar” did manage to notch wins for Best Production Design and Special Visual Effects. Jason Reitman’s downsizing drama “Up in the Air” won for Best Adapted Screenplay, beating out such serious competition as “District 9,” “An Education,” “In the Loop” and “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.” English actors had a good night, with Colin Firth winning Leading Actor honors (over “Crazy Heart” strummer Jeff Bridges) for his role in “A Single Man” as a college professor struggling to find the meaning of life after the death of his longtime partner. Newcomer Carey Mulligan took home the Leading Actress prize for her lauded breakout role in “An Education.” Both drew healthy applause, but one of the loudest ovations on the red carpet came for Kristen Stewart of “Twilight” fame. The Los Angeles native took home the night’s only audience-voted award, the Orange Rising Star prize, in which she aced out Mulligan, Jesse Eisenberg (“Zombieland”), Nicholas Hoult (“A Single Man”) and Tahar Rahim (“A Prophet”). Continuing a string of pre-Oscar wins, Mo’Nique won the Best Supporting Actress award for her harrowing work as a harsh mother in “Precious.” Duncan Jones, the son of British rock icon David Bowie, won the award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer for his trippy space film “Moon,” and “Up” won the trophy for Best Animated Film and Best Score for Michael Giacchino.

Damn!! This is amazing news for Bigelow and The Hurt Locker! I knew that the film would do well at the BAFTAs but I did not expect it to practically pull off a clean sweep. I truly hope this bodes well for the film’s performance at the Academy Awards here in Hollywood, CA next month. Wow … just … wow. After the jump, check out some photos from the BAFTA press room and see some photos of some of the winners with their coveted awards …

'Basterds' come out on top
The 2010 Screen Actors Guild Awards Are Handed Out

Last night members of the Screen Actors Guild made their way out to the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA to attend and revel in the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. As we learned earlier today, Betty White was honored at the SAG Awards last night with the Lifetime Achievement Award but there were many other awards handed out last night. Here are a few photos from the SAG Awards red carpet arrivals:

The Screen Actors Guild Awards are voted on by members of the Screen Actors Guild so, essentially, the actors themselves decide who gave the most award-winning performances of the year. Except for the Academy Awards, I believe the SAG Award is the most coveted by actors because they are given by the actors themselves. Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds took home the top award last night for the Best Ensemble Performance Award (Film) while Glee took home the award for Best Ensemble Performance Award (Television Comedy) and Mad Men took home the award for Best Ensemble Performance Award (Television Drama). After the jump, check out some photos from the show itself and find out who else took home trophies from the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last night

The ‘New Moon’ Cast Goes To The Movies While Filming A Movie

Production continues on the Vancouver, BC Canada set of The Twilight Saga: New Moon as principal stars Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) and Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black) were joined by Anna Kendrick (who reprises her role as Bella‘s friend Jessica) for the filming of some new scenes for the movie. It’s been a while since I read New Moon so I don’t quite recall this exact scene but the gang, apparently, went to the movies together (to help Bella forget about Edward?). Here are a few pics from this recent movie shoot:

OOOH .. it’s all so very much exciting. Will Jacob be able to fetch Bella‘s fave snack from the concessions stand in time to avoid tragedy? I guess we’ll find out when The Twilight Saga: New Moon opens in theaters this November.
