"I feel sad for someone who has never known love."
Angelina Jolie Does ‘Parade’ Magazine

Angelina Jolie, who appears in the Summer spy thriller Salt, is featured on the cover and in the pages of Parade magazine (the issue included in the July 11 edition of the Sunday newspaper). In her coverstory interview, Ange opens up about her family, her love for Brad Pitt and her happiness being a homebody. Here is our first look at Angelina‘s new Parade cover and some excerpts from the interview:

On knowing love: “I feel sad for someone who has never known love. Love elevates. You know, Brad would joke about me having this conversation about love. Love? It’s such a funny word. Brad can find certain phrases of poetry for it. I’m terrible at it. But I know it means wanting the best for the people you love, putting their interests above your own, always. Love does that. Love is what you live for.”

On her rebellious past: “I used to cut myself or jump out of airplanes, trying to find something new to push up against because sometimes everything else felt too easy. I was searching for something deeper, something more. I tried everything. I always felt caged, closed in, like I was punching at things that weren’t there. I always had too much energy for the room I was in.”

On the unrelenting media circus, the paparazzi: “We do everything we can to keep our kids away from it. We travel to places where the kids aren’t aware of that kind of thing. We try to give them a full life where they don’t have to come face to face with that world. With the paparazzi present, we’re careful when we leave the house. Other than that…” She laughs at the absurdity of it all. “We don’t stand in the checkout line at the grocery store looking at the magazines. Our friends don’t tell us about it. And our kids don’t know. I feel if we keep looking out for them, they’ll be fine.”

On balancing work and children with Brad: “He takes the kids to school; he visits me on set with the kids. I’m home for dinner, or I’m there for breakfast. We’re together all the time. We plan. Brad and I take time off between films to travel, have big experiences, do things together. That’s how we work it out.”

On being a happy homebody: “There’s never a period when Brad and I are pulled apart. We are not separated for more than three days, ever. We stay really connected. We actually don’t go out much. It’s funny. We’re very homebound. We’re very much Mommy and Daddy in our pajamas.”

It’s crazy how relatively normal the life of Brangelina sounds. They are arguably the most famous family in the world and yet, they really seem to be as down to Earth as possible. Now, of course they enjoy unimaginable wealth and luxury but I believe Angelina when she says that she likes to enjoy the simpler things in life. She seems crazy in love with Brad and really happy in her role as a mother … it’s really great to hear. I’m still on the fence about Salt … I’m not sure if I’ll see it in theaters but I’m sure it’ll be another big hit for Santa Angelina. Are any of y’all planning to see Salt? What do YOU think of this interview?

More ink for Santa Angelina
Angelina Jolie Shows Off Her New Tattoo

On Tuesday we saw Angelina Jolie on the cover of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine and today we get to see a photo of her in Cancun, Mexico where she is doing promo work for her new film Salt. While waving to the photographers, it was noted that Angelina is sporting a bit of new ink on her left arm … check it out:

Proving that she still regards her skin as a canvas, Angelina Jolie has added yet another tattoo to her highly inked body. Her latest imprint resembles little more than a decorative swirl, but the motif was clearly visible on the inside of her left arm. It’s positioned next to her elbow, alongside a tattoo of the Roman numeral 13. The actress flashed her latest ink as she waved to fans during the launch of her new movie Salt, while she was in Cancun, Mexico. In the action film, Angelina plays a CIA agent accused of being a Russian spy. The actress arrived in Cancun by private jet and brought her children with her.

Altho this latest bit of inked artwork isn’t too substantial it’s proof that Angelina is not finished tatting up her bod. While Ange doesn’t have quite as many tattoos as, say, David Beckham does I think it’s safe to say that she is deffo lookin’ to give him a run for his money. This new tattoo is pretty I suppose … what do y’all think?

"[Acting is] a fun job. It’s a luxury. But I don’t think I’ll do it much longer."
Angelina Jolie Covers ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Yesterday we got our first look at Angelina Jolie inside the pages of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine but today we get to see her on the cover. Here is raven-haired Angelina on the cover of the new issue of VF mag along with a few more excerpts from her coverstory interview wherein she hints that she may be ready to retire from acting:

She is a dedicated mother of six children, an A-list actress and global humanitarian. But Angelina Jolie says she might soon give up acting to spend more time with her family. In an interview in the new issue of Vanity Fair, the actress says: ‘It is not the most important thing in my life. ‘It’s a fun job. It’s a luxury. But I don’t think I’ll do it much longer.’ Jolie, recently finished filming in Venice for her role as an Interpol agent opposite Johnny Depp in The Tourist, says the need to be with her family is behind her stance: ‘I have a happy home.’ She and Brad Pitt have six children, Maddox, eight, Pax, six, Zahara, five, Shiloh, four, and twins Vivienne and Knox, who are almost two. Three of their children -Maddox, Zahara and Pax – are adopted. Miss Jolie took time to describe her children’s developing personalities during the interview with the magazine.

I’d take the talk of retirement with a huge grain of salt … but, then again, I could see Angelina forgoing a life of acting for a life of philanthropy. But, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if she actually plans to make good on this retirement talk. As for the magazine cover, yeah, it’s not my favorite. It’s kinda blah … and I can’t stop looking at how one boob is mushed up higher than the other one. I’m still dying to read the full interview … but this cover leaves me cold. What do y’all think?

Parties with her daughters in Culver City
Angelina Jolie Does ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Angelina Jolie, dubbed Angelina The Conqueror by Vanity Fair magazine, is featured in the new issue of the mag due out on newsstands this Wednesday. The interview, which was conducted in Venice, Italy where Ange has been filming a film with Johnny Depp called The Tourist, discusses issues ranging from rumored pregnancy (she’s not) to marriage (she won’t cuz she already feels like she is) to the prospect of co-starring with faux hubby Brad Pitt in a movie again (it’s possible but not likely they’d do Mr. & Mrs. Smith 2). Here is a sneak peek at Ange‘s upcoming VF magazine feature along with some excerpts from her interview:

“No, I’m not pregnant,” Angelina Jolie tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Rich Cohen, from the set of her movie in Venice, Italy. Perhaps in the future? “We’re not opposed to it. But we want to make sure we can give everybody special time. They’re kids now, and can play together, but they’re going to need a lot more talking in the middle of the night, like I did with my mom for hours. We want to make sure we don’t build a family so big that we don’t have absolutely enough time to raise them each really well.” Jolie says she and Brad Pitt also are not “against getting married,” but “it’s just like we already are. Children are clearly a commitment, a bigger commitment [than marriage]. It’s for life.” Despite her dedication to her work, she thinks she won’t do it much longer: “It’s not the most important thing in my life. Acting helped me as I was growing up. It helped me learn about myself, helped me travel, helped me understand life, express myself, all those wonderful things. So I’m very, very grateful, it’s a fun job. It’s a luxury. Look, I’m at work today in the middle of Venice. But I don’t think I’ll do it much longer.” Jolie says this reassessment is mostly due to her family: “Because I have a happy home….I got back from work last night, and everybody was playing music and dancing and I suddenly found myself dancing around with a bunch of little fun crazy people.” Jolie talks extensively about her children, explaining that “Mad’s a real intellectual, which I can take no credit for genetically. He’s great at school, great at history. He feels like he could be a writer or travel the world and learn about places and things. Zahara’s got an extraordinary voice and is just so elegant and well spoken. Shiloh’s hysterically funny, one of the goofiest, most playful people you’ll ever meet. Knox and Viv are classic boy and girl. She’s really female. And he’s really a little dude.” Jolie says that when she was growing up she was most like her daughter Shiloh: “Goofy and verbal, the early signs of a performer…. I used to get dressed up in costumes and jump around. But at some point, I got closed off, darker. I don’t remember anything happening. I think you just get hit with the realities of certain things in life, think too much, start to realize the world isn’t as you wished it would be, so you deepen. Then, as I had kids and got older—being goofy, lighter—it all came back.” And what does Angelina think of Brad’s strange, wispy beard? “I love Brad in every state.”

Wow … in just this short excerpt we’ve already learned so much from Angelina, stuff that she hasn’t really shared in the past few years. It’s really cool getting to hear about the kids in this intimate way. I suspect the full interview will reveal even more. Ange and the fam have made their way back home to SoCal so that daddy Brad can do some work here. Over the weekend, Angelina was spotted with her eldest daughters Zahara Marley and Shiloh Nouvel making their way into a party in Culver City. After the jump, check out a couple photos of the ladies here in LA this weekend and read a few more excerpts from Angelina‘s upcoming VF interview …

A saint's work is never done
Angelina Jolie Visits Refugees In Ecuador

Angelina Jolie, in her role as UN Goodwill Ambassador, made her way to Ecuador this week to visit with refugees there for the first time since she visited the area about 8 years ago. Ecuador has received an influx of refugees due to the horrors going on in Colombia and Angelina decided to make a trip there to assess the situation so she can report back to the United Nations as well as bring some attention to the plight of the refugees there:

Angelina Jolie left Brad Pitt at home with their brood in LA to spend time with refugee children in northern Ecuador this week. The UN Goodwill Ambassador, who was dressed in a white vest and jeans, visited a local daycare centre where she shared a laugh with little ones while playing with a toy set. The Wanted actress is drawing attention to the plight of thousands who fled the conflict in Colombia to start a new life on the other side of the Ecuadorian-Colombian border. Jolie, who turned 35 on June 4, was reunited with a Columbian mother she first met eight years ago during her first visit to Lago Agrio, the capital of Sucumbios province. The actress said: ‘At that time she had a lot of hope for her future. She was recently treated for cancer. She still holds on to hope’ … ‘It’s been eight years since I was last here and UNHCR’s presence has grown considerably,’ Jolie told Ecuadorian reporters. ‘They are going into the thickest parts of the jungle to reach the refugees, who are living in very remote locations and in desperate conditions,’ she added. ‘I wanted to come back and meet with vulnerable people and focus on violence against women and unaccompanied minors. I am so happy to be able to reconnect with some familiar faces, refugees I had met with during my 2002 trip,’ she concluded. It is the latest of many mercy missions for the mother-of-six, who has visited Syria, Bosnia and Haiti in the last few months alone.

I continue to be impressed with Angelina‘s level of commitment to her work as UN Goodwill Ambassador. No matter what she’s got going on in her extremely bizzy personal and professional life, she always makes time to devote her time and energy to visiting affected areas of the world to shine the light of awareness on some very troubled situations. We are all very lucky to never truly understand how horrible the conditions are for the refugees of the world but I feel that as long as folks as famous as Angelina Jolie stay committed to informing us on what is going on, we can at least have some sense of the pain and suffering that our fellow man suffers thru on a daily basis while we live in absolute luxury. I absolutely commend her continued work as UN Goodwill Ambassador and hope that she continues to devote her time and energy to the cause. Even if we never think about these particular people again, I know that some bit of what they are going thru will be kept and remembered in people’s hearts and minds. Maybe that seed will grow and new ways of giving aid will sprout. If you would like to donate and help in any way you can, you can do so HERE.

Life's a beach!
Brangelina Hit The Beach In Malibu, CA

Happily unmarrieds Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have made their way home to SoCal this weekend to partake of the Memorial Day weekend festivities with friends and family in Malibu, CA. I heard that the couple were back in town earlier this week but they managed to stay out of sight … until now. Here are a few fun photos of Brangelina chillin’ at the beach with their two eldest sons Maddox Chivan and Pax Thien yesterday afternoon:

Curiously the other children were nowhere to be seen … which is odd, considering how often the whole family was spotted out and about on the streets of Venice, Italy a few weeks ago where the fam has been living temporarily while Ange films her new movie The Tourist. I would assume that the other kiddies are here in SoCal as well but they must’ve been handed off to other folks or something. As you may already be well aware, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kick-off of Summer (which doesn’t actually start until June 21 at the Summer Solstice) so it makes sense that Brangelina would want to be home, here in LA, to get the party started. We will have to wait and see how long they will stay in town but I’m thinkin’ they’ll be spending as much time as possible sunnin’ themselves at the beach this weekend.

Knox shares his toys with the world below
Angelina Jolie & Knox Léon Greet A Brand New Day

Here are a couple of really cute pics of Angelina Jolie and her baby boy Knox Léon on the balcony of their palazzo home in Venice, Italy this week saying hello to a bright new day as well as to the adoring world below. Knox brought out a toy bunny, which he likely found in his Easter basket this year, which he decided to share with others by tossing it off the balcony:

Awww … this is cute, y’all. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of seeing the Brangelina twins out and about … I’m so happy we are finally seeing them about as much as we get to see the other Brangelina kiddies. And about this discarded bunny … don’t be surprised if the dang thing ends up on eBay. I bet there’d be quite a few folks who’d love to own a toy that belonged to one of the Brangelina kids.

Spreading Hope and Goodwill
Angelina Jolie Visits Refugees In Bosnia

Yesterday we learned that Angelina Jolie and fauxhubby Brad Pitt made their way to Bosnia to visit with refugees there on behalf of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and today we get to see photos of Angelina with some of the people she met in Bosnia … behold:

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie has called for steps to end the continuing suffering of displaced victims of the Bosnian War after hearing their harrowing tales and seeing their grim living conditions during a brief visit this week. Jolie, travelling with her partner Brad Pitt, on Monday took a break from filming to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina and highlight the plight of 113,000 Bosnians and 7,000 refugees from Croatia. These people were forced from their homes during the violent break-up of the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s and many of them are living in collective centres, often in appalling conditions. The acclaimed actress was clearly moved by the spirit – and the suffering – of the people she met and she pledged to highlight their case. Most of the people she talked to have been living far from home for well over a decade. Many of their children were born in exile and have never seen where their families come from. Jolie kicked off her first trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina by visiting a crumbling and dilapidated collective centre in the eastern town of Gorazde, which lies on the Drina River and was a UN-protected enclave throughout the 1992-1995 war. She and Pitt visited another collective centre housing displaced people in Rogatica, where the inhabitants told the couple about the daily hardships they endure, including a lack of basic services such as running water. “After seeing these people and hearing their stories, I cannot overemphasize the need to focus on the well-being of the most vulnerable individuals of the population,” Jolie said, adding that by “ending displacement and ensuring quality of life, we can help to promote progress and long-term stability.” Among these “most vulnerable individuals” were a group of internally displaced women who suffered very bad experiences during the war. While Pitt went off to speak to their menfolk, Jolie spent some private time with the women. After the meeting, an emotional Jolie said they had told her about the ordeal they had suffered before escaping to Gorazde during the war, including rape and torture. “I have my body, but it no longer has a soul,” one woman told her.

More details of Brangelina‘s visit to Bosnia continue after the jump …

Because they can
The Brangelina Bunch Rent Out Their Own Easter Island

Earlier today we learned that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made their way to Sarajevo, Bosnia but they did manage to spend their Easter in Venice, Italy where the family rented out the island of San Servolo so that they could enjoy Easter together as:

For many families, an egg hunt in the garden is a traditional way to celebrate Easter. It was no different for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – except that their celebration involved renting an entire island. The A-list couple took their six children to the Venetian island of San Servolo for a day of Easter activities on Sunday. After catching a waterboat to the island, in the Venetian Lagoon, the family set up a picnic on the lawns and soaked up the Italian sun. Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, Shiloh, 3 and twins Knox and Vivienne, 20 months, were amused by a hunt for eggs, carefully hidden by their bodyguards, and a game of football. As they disembarked Angelina was spotted carrying an Easter egg basket while baby Vivienne, bundled up in a black jacket and grey beanie, held a miniature version. After the family day out the couple then left their brood behind and travelled to Bosnia as part of Angelina’s role as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. They planned to visit refugees and tour homes that have not yet been rebuilt, despite war in the region ending 15 years ago. The expedition came as 34-year-old Angelina took a break from filming The Tourist, in which she co-stars with Johnny Depp, in Venice.

I’m not sure how Angelina Jolie finds the time to be a mother AND make a movie AND be a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador AND find time to breathe all at the same time … but she seems to be able to handle everything OK. I guess when you’re a real life superhero, stuff like this comes easy. I hope the kiddies had themselves a nice holiday yesterday … having run of an entire island sounds fun, don’t it?

Angelina Jolie Takes The Kiddies To A Venetian Park

On Saturday we learned of a report from the LA Times that claims Angelina Jolie is being considered to star as Maleficent in the upcoming Tim Burton live-action film adaptation of Disney‘s Sleeping Beauty … but today, we get to see a photo of Ange in her role as plain ol’ mom. Here is a cute pic of Angelina taking a group of her kiddies to a private park in Venice, Italy this weekend:

Don’t you just love how little Miss Shiloh Nouvel is so expressive in her dress? I love that she always stands out from the rest of her siblings … I guess in a big family like this, kids gotta do what they gotta do to get noticed. I know we can’t see it very well, but Zahara Marley‘s little outfit looks fierce … at least from the back. Pax Thien is prolly wearing whatever he could find on the floor. I just love this family … it’s always fun to check in on them to see what’s going on.
