Packing at my apartment is slooooooow going … it’s more a matter of pulling everything out of closets and drawers so that I can determine what needs to get pitched before I start the actual packing. OY! Moving is a pain but the purging is a good exercise for me.

I finally got around to scanning some of the Polaroid photos that I’ve been taking the past few months. I’ve taken well over 200 photos but simply cannot muster up the wherewithal to scan them all. Trust me, they’re not all great … but I did manage to snap a few very cool ones. Last week, I mentioned that I snapped a self portrait that I modeled on one of Andy Warhol’s self portrait Polaroid photos (which appears in The Polaroid Book, a gift from David for Xmas) … here is a comparison of the original Warhol and my take on it:

The camera in my photo is a 1977 Polaroid One Step with Q Light attachment, which was a gift from David’s mother. She knew that I’ve been collecting Polaroids so she gave me the family’s very well-preserved old Polaroid camera as a gift. It’s not too bad, I don’t think. I’ve uploaded the 30+ Polaroids that are my faves and have been scanned for sharing HERE. Incidentally, David also got me the book Polaroids by Robert Mapplethorpe for Xmas (a nod to the actual exhibit of the photos that we saw in person at the Whitney Museum in NY last September). As much as I can appreciate Mapplethorpe’s photos, I don’t think I’ll be mimicking his self portraits (those of you familiar with his photography understand what I’m getting at). In any event, there you have it … I have recently procured other Polaroid cameras that use different kinds of Instant Film. I’m just now branching out with using different film formats now.

BUT … all of that really has to take a backseat to the main issue at hand — the move. We are at t-minus 5 days and counting …
