Earlier this month we learned that the folks promoting Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland released a movie poster on Facebook featuring the White Queen and then released a poster featuring Alice herself.

Earlier this month we learned that the folks promoting Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland released a movie poster on Facebook featuring the White Queen and then released a poster featuring Alice herself. Today, the official Alice In Wonderland Facebook page releases a third poster featuring the wily Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp:

The message posted with this Mad Hatter movie poster alludes to the fact that it will be the “last” promo photo shared on Facebook for a while. I suppose it makes sense that the folks promoting the show would put a halt on releasing goodies to fans so early before the film hits theaters. Of the three posters, I think I like this one the least … I don’t think they featured the Mad Hatter as expertly as they could’ve. That being said, we still have a lot of time to wait before the film opens in theaters next Spring … I’ll take any and everything they’ve got to give. I just hope they don’t make us wait too long before they release another fun goodie.

Yesterday we got our first look at a movie poster from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland which was released on Facebook and features the White Queen character. Today we get our first look at another Wonderland poster newly released on Facebook … but this one features the main character in Wonderland, Alice herself:

It’s unclear if more posters will be released to fans on a daily basis like this but you can be sure that there will be more fun releases like this to come in the months leading up to the film’s release. I understand from a Pink reader (thanks Mr. Gyllenhaal) that a 3D trailer for Alice in Wonderland is showing in front of Disney’s A Christmas Carol in theaters right now. The fact that I hate the Christmas Carol story and am not very fond of Jim Carrey means that I will prolly not see the movie for myself … but I would LOVE to see the Wonderland trailer in 3D on the big screen. It might be worth going to see Carol and then just leaving before the movie even starts. In any event, I’ll continue to watch the official Alice in Wonderland Facebook page for any new goodies to come. I’m really looking forward to seeing future posters … which character would you like to see released next?

Great news Alice In Wonderland fans, the movie’s official Facebook profile has released a new promo poster for Tim Burton’s vision of the tale and today we get our first look of that new poster artwork. Here is the new White Queen-centric poster just released for the film:

This is an awesome poster and seems to be the first of many posters coming our way. According to the Alice In Wonderland Facebook profile, if the page gets 7,500 likes (ie. 7,5000 Facebook followers have to join the Alice Facebook page and then click the image) then another movie poster will be revealed on the site. My guess is that there will eventually be posters for each of the main characters in Wonderland. If you are interested in seeing these releases as soon as they become available, I suggest you add the Alice Facebook page to your roster of Facebook friends. I’m sure there will be many “games” like this for fans to play in order to unlock new releases (ie. photos, videos, etc.) from the film … considering the movie won’t be in theaters until next Spring, there is lots of time to play along. What do y’all think of this poster … do we like?

Back in July we got our first look at the first movie trailer for Tim Burton’s version of Alice In Wonderland and today we get to check out an extended version of that trailer … here are a few screencaps:

Now … the “extended” scenes in this trailer aren’t really all that exciting … I think I noticed 2 or 3 new scenes … but I know there are many folks out there aching for any new info on this film so I think it’s worth checking out. After the jump, check out the minute long extended movie trailer for Alice In Wonderland …

This movie looks AWESOME! I can’t wait to see this trippy masterpiece on the big screen. As you may recall, Alice won’t hit theaters until March of 2010. I’m sure we’ll be gettin’ little pieces of the film like this in the coming months. I can’t wait!!

In late August pretty much everyone lost their shizz when the news came out that The Walt Disney Company was acquiring Marvel Comics for $4 billion mainly because there was a huge fear that Disney would interfere with Marvel and ruin those characters. BUT, what if the reverse actually happened and Marvel was able to influence the nice, sweet Disney characters instead. Illustrator Jeffrey Thomas envisions what Disney characters might look like if they received the Marvel Comics treatment … here are a few of the Twisted Princesses that he envisions:

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if instead of Disney’s wussification of Marvel’s characters, the tables were turned and instead Marvel turned the Disney princesses into Skrull invaders and zombies like this Dark Little Mermaid? All the images are by illustrator Jeffrey Thomas, who’s as twisted as he is brilliant. Please oh please can’t we at least get a comic book out of these images?

Aren’t these illustrations fantastic? I love mashing up characters like this … seeing the Disney Princesses in a more dark light only highlights their personalities, I think. Some of them look evil (ie. Ariel the Little Mermaid) but some of them just look more realistic and strong (ie. Pocahontas). I LOVE these illustrations. I urge you to visit Thomas’s website HERE to see these illustrations in higher resolution … they’re really amazing. One can only hope that the marriage between Disney and Marvel might bring to fruition an alliance like this … my guess is that it won’t really happen but it’s nice to wish … upon a star.

After the Internets went WILD over the release of the first trailer for Tim Burton’s new Disney film Alice In Wonderland this past Wednesday, it was assumed that the trailer would be the central focal point of the film’s presence at San Diego Comic-Con taking place this weekend. As was assumed, Tim Burton was on hand to personally show the video footage at Comic-Con yesterday … but he brought along a surprise guest with him. Johnny Depp shocked fans by popping up on stage to say hello … before he, almost immediately, disappeared and left the premises:

English heartthrob Robert Pattinson wasn’t due to arrive in Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center until later in the afternoon, but he was in real danger of being upstaged by the screams that met Johnny Depp’s surprise appearance Thursday morning at the first panel of the day at Comic-Con International. Depp, dressed in a white shirt and black vest, was on hand to support director Tim Burton, who unveiled a 3-D teaser trailer for his upcoming “Alice in Wonderland,” due out in March. The film draws from a cross-section of Lewis Carroll’s writing, including the Jabberwocky poem. The footage, which prominently featured Depp’s Mad Hatter, mostly highlighted the variety of the fantastic images Burton has assembled for the movie, created using a hybrid of live-action and animation and other techniques. At the urging of moderator Patton Oswalt, it was shown three separate times. “John and I worked together many times, but he’s never done a character with orange hair,” Burton dryly observed from the stage about the Hatter’s unusual aesthetic. “We scalped Carrot Top and took his hair….We realized once we got into it that we picked out every image from TV and cinema of red hair and it’s quite a distributing thing — from Bozo onward,” the director deadpanned.

According to E! News, Johnny uttered just 5 words before POOF! he was gone:

In fact, Depp stopped by, said five words and then totally just left. Here’s what went down: After screening a custom-made trailer for his Comic-Con fans, director Burton asked the crowd if they would like to meet the “imaginary friend” that follows him around. The crowd cheered and Depp, who plays the Mad Hatter, walked onstage in a button-up shirt and fitted black vest. He had long bangs sweeping the side of his face, and wore a thick leather bracelet. After several moments of cheering, Depp whispered into the mic: “Hey. Happy to be here.” And then, poof, he was gone. Moderator Patton Oswalt told the crowd that Depp could reappear later in the day, so “be nice to every guy you see dressed like Jack Sparrow.”

The ONLY person who could upstage Robert Pattinson these days is Johnny Depp … and I kinda love that he just showed up to say hello before running as fast as he could from the venue. Brills. But, getting back to Wonderland, the official poster artwork for the film has been released and features the promo photos that we saw a few weeks ago. While they aren’t all that new, I think they’re worth a second look … as is a pretty cool photo of the Cheshire Cat who was featured in yesterday’s Comic-Con presentation of Alice in Wonderland …

While these posters are VERY cool, I’m already anxious to see more artwork from the film … and when does the Cheshire Cat get his own movie poster?

I’m thinking a black-light poster, right? Do you love it?

The new issue of Vanity Fair magazine, the one with Heath Ledger on the cover, features another look at the full-size promo photos:

These photos are the same ones we saw previously but VF mag does publish the full-size photographs that the Technicolored promo pics were based on. After the jump, check them out for yourselves …

Mia Wasikowska as Alice Kingsley:

I am so in love with this movie already … based on just the promo photos. Is that wrong? Meh, who cares … I’m just so excited. I can’t wait to see more. While the movie doesn’t open in theaters until next year, there’s bound to be more fun promo stuff coming our way in the months leading up to the film’s release. Woot!!

Yesterday we got our first good look at director Tim Burton’s vision of Alice In Wonderland with the release of a few concept art stills from the film and a few character art promo photos (featuring The Mad Hatter, The Red Queen, The White Queen and Tweedledee & Tweedledum). Missing from the batch of new images we got to see yesterday were promo photos of main character Alice Kingsley portrayed in the film by Mia Wasikowska … today we get to see those images. Here is the character art promo photo of Tim Burton’s Alice:

As Pink reader Kristy noted in the blog comments yesterday, Mia Wasikowska was previously seen in the first season of HBO’s amazing series In Treatment. As a huge fan of the show, I was very impressed with Mia’s acting performance in the role of Sophie on In Treatment. I think she will make an excellent Alice. After the jump, check out two new promo stills from the movie each featuring Mia Wasikowska as protagonist Alice Kingsley …

Is there any more iconic image from this tale than Alice looking down the rabbit hole? I am SOOOO crazy excited about this new film. From just the photos we’ve seen thus far I can tell the movie will be epic. March 2010 (when the film opens in theaters) seems like a lifetime away … but it will be fun looking forward to the release of this film.

Last November we got our very FIRST LOOK at Johnny Depp in full make-up and costume as The Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s new film, Alice in Wonderland. Today, we get to see a whole slew of new promo photos from the upcoming Disney film including finished character art of Depp as The Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as The White Queen and Matt Lucas as Tweedledee & Tweedledum. First up, tho, check out these very cool-looking promo pics from the film of Wonderland itself:

Burton gave us a grief-wracked demon barber in 2007’s Sweeney Todd and oodles of Oompa Loompas in 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Now one of Hollywood’s most visually creative directors layers his own surreal sensibilities upon the fanciful world of Lewis Carroll in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, due in theaters on March 5, 2010. This first look at some of the concept art for the film suggests there is the usual Burton dark magic afoot.

Yes, yes … these images are really beautiful and hint at a more sinister Wonderland than we may be accustomed to … but it is the character art that really gives you a good feel for the tone of the film. After the jump, check out the amazing promo images of The Mad Hatter, The Red Queen, The White Queen and The Tweedles …

Johnny Depp may be one of the most desirable men in Hollywood, but he looks far from handsome in his latest film role. In place of his light golden tan and dark brown hair, Depp is unrecognisable with his curly orange hair, pasty skin and pink make-up as she plays the ghoulish-looking Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s upcoming adaptation of Alice In Wonderland. The 46-year-old actor joins Anne Hathaway, Matt Lucas, Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry and Helena Bonham Carter in the eagerly-anticipated movie. Relative unknown Mia Wasikowska, 19, from Australia, will be playing Alice, who is much older in the film than in CS Carroll’s classic. Seventeen-year-old Alice struggles to fit into Victorian society and is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of people at a garden party. She flees the party and spots the White Rabbit (Michael Sheen) and follows him down a hole and into Wonderland. While film fans will have to wait until March 2010 to see the film, Disney have given them a taste of things to come with the first official glimpse of the cast in their garish costumes. The look of the film is typical Burton style with Victorian styling and extreme colour contrasts. As well as being transformed by their costumes, the cast’s features have been digitally altered, making them look far removed from their normal selves. As the tea-drinking, unbirthday-celebrating Mad Hatter, Johnny’s eyes are yellow and enlarged. Producer Richard Zanuck said: “This character is off his rocker. He is so much fun and so nutty, I can’t imagine anyone else doing it.” The film also stars Burton’s muse and real-life partner Bonham Carter, whose head has been digitally swelled to play the Red Queen. Dressed in full royal regalia, Bonham Carter’s body is dwarfed by her bulbous head, a physical reflection of the Queen’s enormous ego. The Red Queen has overthrown her sister, the White Queen (Hathaway) and has turned Wonderland from a peaceful kingdom to a land of paranoia and fear. Zanuck explained: “The creatures are ready to revolt and waiting for Alice to help them.” Normally a brunette, Hathaway looks ethereal with her platinum blonde hair and alabaster skin as she plays the exiled Queen. Zanuck describes her as “beautiful but over the top. She doesn’t walk. She floats. She’s very eccentric.” The Devil Wears Prada star Hathaway added: “She’s cute, but psycho. Things even out.” Little Britain star Lucas plays rhyming twins Tweedledee and Tweedledum, who has been digitally manipulated to look egg-shaped using motion-capture technology. The pair are two of the first characters to meet Alice upon her arrival in Wonderland and introduce her to the Mad Hatter. Explaining his casting of newcomer Wasikowska as Alice, Burton said: “We met a lot of people, but she just had that certain kind of emotional toughness, standing her ground in a way that makes her kind of an older person with a younger person?s mentality.” The film also stars Christopher Lee as the Jabberwock, Rickman as the Caterpiller, Fry as the Cheshire Cat and Back To The Future actor Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts. Alice in Wonderland will be released in both traditional and 3-D format on March 12 2010.

Wow! What a cast! This first look at Burton’s vision of Wonderland is so incredibly exciting. The Alice in Wonderland tale is so full of magic that it’s not difficult to use one’s imagination to have fun with the tale … in the hands of a visionary like Tim Burton, man, the sky’s the limit! I was impressed with the first look at The Mad Hatter that we got to see last November … but I’m totally blown away by these new promo images. I’d bet very good money that this movie will be a smash at the box office. I am so in love with this movie … I can’t wait for its release!!
