Lindsay Lohan, who dyed her hair blonde in the weeks leading up to her incarceration in jail and then, subsequently, in rehab, has decided to get back to her roots and dye her hair red again … she showed off her new old look a couple of days ago on her most recent visit to check in with her probation officer in Santa Monica, CA. Afterward, it is being reported, Lindsay showed up at the Nokia Theater where preparations were underway for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards which is set to air LIVE on MTV tonight at 9pm ET/PT. At first, it was assumed that Lindsay would be attending the VMAs this year but it now sounds like she merely taped a video appearance for the show … because Friday she popped up in NY to visit her family:

She’s been attempting to resurrect her failing career after a stint in prison, followed by a stay in court-ordered rehab. And what better way to step back into the spotlight than at a big awards ceremony? Reports suggest that Lindsay Lohan will make an appearance on stage at tomorrow’s MTV Video Music Awards being held at the Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles. Lohan, 24, was spotted at the venue yesterday during rehearsals for the show which is due to include performances by Kanye West, Mary J Blige and Justin Bieber. She will even address, in some manner, her recent news making troubles with the law according to E! Online. Chelsea Handler, who is hosting the awards said this week that she would love for Lohan to be at the ceremony. ‘That would make for a lot of material,’ said the comedienne who has consistently targeted the Lohan family in jokes on her chat show, Chelsea Lately. Lindsay, who has recently reverted back to her original red hair colour, was sentenced to serve 90 days in county jail after violating her probation conditions from a 2007 arrest for driving under the influence. She ended up serving just 13 days before being sent to the UCLA medical center for court ordered residential rehabilitation where she stayed for 23 days. Before heading to the Nokia Theatre for rehearsals Lindsay went to a scheduled appointment with her probation officer where she was expected to carry out a drug urine test at the Santa Monica courthouse.

Yes, all of this VMAs appearance talk was going around BEFORE a new photo was made available by TMZ that shows that Lindsay has already left SoCal and made her way to the East Coast to visit with her family there. Dina Lohan and her daughter Aliana Ali Lohan must have some pretty wretched nails because the ladies spend almost as much time gettin’ manicures and pedicures as they do making visits to Lindsay Lohan wherever she may be in custody. Dina and Ali very recently spent an afternoon pampering themselves with manis and pedis while Linds was locked up in jail … and just yesterday, they paid another visit for more nail work while Linds was locked up in rehab:

With their nails all freshly clipped and polished, the ladies went back to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center to visit L. Lo in rehab again. As you may recall, Dina and Ali have already spent time with Lindsay in rehab earlier this week but last night they went back for more. While I can understand the notion of supporting a loved one as they go thru rehabilitation, I cannot understand why these two won’t leave Lindsay alone so that she can actually rehabilitate herself. If Dina truly cared for her daughter she would let the trained professionals charged with Lindsay‘s rehabilitation do their job and save her daughter’s life. One visit sounds fine to me, more than one visit in the same week sounds like a very bad idea (as a few Pink readers have already commented themselves). I absolutely believe that Dina loves the limelight that her daughter’s recent legal woes have afforded her … and it grosses me out entirely. I bet Lindsay would really benefit from a 90 day rehab from both of her parents. Ugh.

Late Sunday night/early Monday morning Lindsay Lohan got sprung from the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, CA and was admitted for a 90 day stint in rehab at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center … and late yesterday, L. Lo received her first visitors in her new home away from home. Lindsay‘s mother Dina Lohan and little sister Aliana Ali Lohan made their way to the UCLA Medical Center to spend some time with Linds … but Dina also made sure to set aside some time to talk to RadarOnline about Lindsay‘s release from jail and admittance to rehab:

Dina Lohan revealed the first intimate details about her reunion with daughter Lindsay Lohan in an exclusive statement to RadarOnline.com. Dina spoke about what it was like to see Lindsay following the actress’ release from prison. “I was finally able to hug my daughter [last night] after two long weeks of speaking to her from behind a glass wall,” Dina said. “Lindsay is doing well, and is appreciative of the hundreds of well-wishes she has received” … Following her release at 1:35 AM on Monday morning, Lindsay was driven directly to the hospital under high security. Lohan was transported from the women’s correctional facility in Lynwood to UCLA in an unmarked van … Amid speculation that Lindsay’s family was upset about the change in plans, Dina told RadarOnline.com: “Lindsay is with the utmost professionals and is in very good hands.” Dina continued, “I refuse to respond to any of my ex-husband’s false allegations about myself or my family.” Sources tell RadarOnline.com that Lindsay is expected to complete her court-ordered 90 days of treatment at UCLA. Lohan will remain on probation for another year after being released from UCLA. She has been prohibited from consuming alcohol or illegal drugs and she will continue to be randomly drug tested.

I’m actually a bit surprised that Dina tried to sneak in to visit Lindsay under the cover of night because how can she maximize the media attention surrounding her visits unless she saunters into the facility in the middle of the day? Considering Lindsay will be in rehab for the next 3 months, I suppose Dina figures she has lots of time to get facetime in front of the cameras as the weeks progress. I’m not sure what the visitor restrictions are but I would hope that, for whatever reason, Dina and Ali visit Lindsay as much as possible. They are her family, after all, and support from one’s family greatly enhances the effectiveness of rehab. It’s hard not to be jaded by Dina‘s involvement in Lindsay‘s recovery but, in the end, I hope her love as a mother supersedes her love of attention and she will be able to support her daughter in way that would be conducive to her recovery. Let’s hope …

Lindsay Lohan, the artist currently known as Inmate #2409752, had her yesterday brightened a bit by a group of visitors who came to spend time with her at her current home at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA. While I’m pretty sure that #2409752 was prolly MORE excited by the load of snacks and packages she received the day prior, I’ll bet she was happy to spend time with her mother Dina Lohan, her sister Aliana Ali Lohan and her ex-girlfriend and current BFF Samantha Ronson:

As you can see, Mama Dina brightened up considerably when she realized she was being photographed (much like she did last week when she visited then) … Ali, as usual, seemed to shun the attention and Samantha was uncharacteristically smiley. Despite the fact that father Michael Lohan penned an atrociously hideous song for his daughter, he was not allowed in to see Ms. Lohan. I believe yesterday’s visit was the last family visit for Inmate #2409752 before she gets sprung this weekend. Her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, will likely be visiting L. Lo this weekend and then … she’s out. It’s hard to believe that it’s already been almost 2 weeks of Lindsay in jail … where does the time go?

News‘s Marc Malkin is reporting that Dina and Aliana Ali Lohan, mother and sister of the currently jailed Lindsay Lohan, spent part of their weekend relaxing at a day spa getting manicures and pedicures while Lindsay‘s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley was bizzy trying to bust her client out of jail early. Because the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA, the jail housing L. Lo right now, would not allow Lindsay to receive any visitors over the weekend, Dina and Ali decided to hang out instead at a relaxing day spa. Dina and Ali did visit Lindsay in jail yesterday, after they were all pampered, rested and stuff:

Dina and Ali Lohan weren’t allowed to visit Lindsay this weekend in jail, so what’s a mom and daughter to do? Go to a spa! The duo was spotted on Saturday at L.A.’s Raya European Day Spa. No word if they indulged in mani-pedi’s, massages and/or facials, but whatever the two did, they did it gratis. No, the spa didn’t comp them. “Some random guy, a stranger, at the spa paid for them,” an eyewitness said. “He said it was because ‘You’ve been through so much.’”

They HAVE been through so much, haven’t they? The poor dears. But as I mentioned before, while the Lohans were getting pampered, Lindsay‘s lawyer was trying to finagle a way to get Lindsay out of jail over the weekend, or at least in the next few days. Lindsay Lohan, who surrendered herself on Tuesday to begin serving her 90 day jail sentence, had her 2nd day in jail brightened up a bit by a short visit from her mother Dina Lohan and her younger sister Aliana Ali Lohan yesterday afternoon … despite the fact that inmates are not allowed to have family visitors during the week. Because the jail can make exceptions, it would appear that the folks at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA decided to make an exception for their most famous current inmate. Here are a few photos of Dina and Ali making their way out of the CRDF yesterday and some deets about their visit:

Two down, 12 more to go. Lindsay Lohan’s mother Dina and sister Ali visited the jail for more than an hour Wednesday, but only saw the actress for about 30 minutes. They departed stern-faced without commenting to reporters. With them during the stay was Lohan’s business manager, Lou Taylor. Visiting hours at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., are on weekends for family and friends, though the jail can make exceptions. Family members also may leave money for an inmate’s account to buy snacks, toiletries and stationery. Lindsay, meanwhile, has “slept soundly for most of her time in custody” but has been worrying about her safety, a jail insider tells PEOPLE. According to the source, Lohan, 24, who is likely to serve two weeks of a 90-day sentence for violating probation in a DUI case, has expressed her fears of being housed with other inmates, even though she’s been repeatedly reassured she’ll be kept isolated in her own cell. But, the source says, Lohan has been “cooperative,” and she appears to be adjusting to life behind bars slowly – and satiating her appetite. Wednesday morning, she ate the jail’s typical breakfast of cold cereal and a hard-boiled egg and has “devoured all the food served to her” since she was booked, says the source.

I understand her father Michael Lohan attempted to visit her in jail as well but Lindsay made it clear that she does not want to see him. All in all, it sounds like the folks at the prison are doing whatever they can to make Lindsay‘s stay as easy as possible under the circumstances. Any belief that she is doing “hard time” is just silly. She is basically getting a time out which, I’m sure, will not do much to change her dangerous behavior. I’m more hopeful that she will get something more substantial from the 90 day rehab program she will have to submit to once she completes her 90 14 day jail sentence.

On Monday we learned that Lindsay Lohan‘s attempt to hire Stuart V. Goldberg as her new lawyer (in place of Shawn Chapman Holley, who wants desperately to quit as Lindsay‘s lawyer) didn’t quite work out … but today we learn that she successfully hired Robert Shapiro (the man who successfully got OJ Simpson acquitted of the murder of his wife) to be her new attorney. It is being reported that Shapiro is hoping to get Judge Marsha Revel to rescind Lindsay‘s 90 day jail sentence in lieu of serving the same time in a rehab program. Last night, a group of Lindsay‘s family and friends made their way to the Pickford Lofts (which is a sober living rehab facility that was founded by Robert Shapiro, btw) after she secretly checked herself in for treatment Wednesday afternoon. My guess is that Shapiro will try to convince the judge that she should stay in this rehab facility rather than go to jail:

In perhaps a last-minute attempt to avoid jail, troubled actress Lindsay Lohan secretly checked into a sober living home founded by famed Los Angeles attorney Robert Shapiro, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned. Lohan arrived at Pickford Lofts in West Hollywood, California around 3:45 p.m. local time on Wednesday, and managed to slip inside without cameras catching her. Later Wednesday night, RadarOnline.com captured video of Lindsay’s on-again-off-again girlfriend, DJ Samantha Ronson outside the home. She visited with LiLo for about a half an hour before leaving to pick up some groceries and extra pillows for the Mean Girls star. Lindsay’s mother, Dina, arrived at Pickford Lofts around Midnight, and didn’t answer any questions as she entered the home with another woman. Then, around 1 a.m. Thursday, long after Sam had left, Lindsay’s other rumored gal pal, Israeli military vet Eilat Anschel, also visited her at Pickford Lofts. In its website, Pickford Lofts is described as a facility which “strives to offer a safe haven so that those in all stages of recovery can develop skills that will aid them in their journey of sobriety.” It was founded by Shapiro after he lost his son Brent to substance abuse.

This is a brilliant move by Robert Shapiro … but according to the District Attorney, who successfully convinced Judge Revel to jail Lohan in addition to ordering a stint in rehab, it’s all a waste of time. District Attorney Danette Meyers is confident that Judge Revel will not overturn her own sentencing and is sure Lindsay will have to submit to jail next week. I’m sure Meyers would have no problem with Lindsay going back to Pickford Lofts after she completes her jail sentence. I wish I could be happier about Lindsay‘s preemptive move to enter rehab this week but I know it’s merely a ploy to try and keep her out of jail. We’ll see if this attempt to avoid jail will be successful or not. My guess is that it will not … but at least Lindsay is getting herself acquainted with the rehab facility she may end up at AFTER she does her time in jail.

Yesterday we got to see the first photos of soon-to-be-jailbird Lindsay Lohan venturing out in public for the first time since she was sentenced last Tuesday to 90 days in jail plus 90 days in rehab for violating the terms of her probation from her 2007 DUI conviction. As you may recall, Lindsay and her peeps made their way to an art supplies store to pick up a few provisions. Today we see new photos of Lindsay out and about with her crew … which at long last includes her mother Dina Lohan:

She may be heading to jail soon enough, but it was business as usual for Lindsay Lohan today. The Mean Girls star visited her local Coffee Bean cafe with her entourage, which included her mother Dina, sister Ali and rumoured new girlfriend Eilat Anschel. The 24-year-old put her physique on show in a sports bra, zip-up jacket and tight legging. She appeared relatively upbeat, saying ‘thank you’ when a passer-by gave her some words of encouragement. But Dina has admitted that under the calm exterior, her daughter is ‘scared to death’ about her prison spell … Her mother was asked by Entertainment Tonight if Lindsay will be able to survive her time inside and she replied: ‘You know, she’s strong, but until someone faces something as devastating as that… we’re going to have to see. She’s a fighter, and until the final result – we’re not giving up.’ She added: ‘I think it’s time we get another attorney just to see it from another light and do damage control.’ Lohan’s criminal defense lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley resigned from the case yesterday. A source close to Lohan says: ‘Lindsay met with two prominent criminal defense attorneys on Wednesday, but both refused to take the case because of her attitude. Lohan blames everyone around her for her circumstances, and she is absolutely unaccountable. She is an attorney’s worst nightmare because she simply refuses to follow any advice that she disagrees with.’ Lohan is set to begin her sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood on July 20.

Yes, girl, make those coffee runs while you still can. I don’t think they serve caffeinated coffee drinks inside the Lynwood Correctional Facility … tho, considering the number of young Hollywood “It” Girls they tend to incarcerate, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they did add Coffee Bean drinks to their menu. But I digress. You will note how giddily happy Dina Lohan appears in the photos above. Not only is she dressed exactly like her daughter (very likely in an attempt to look like “one of the girls”), she seems especially happy to be photographed in Lindsay‘s posse. I can’t even convey much much her mother’s enabling behavior utterly grosses me out. I’m not even kidding, I would bet very good money that Dina would do ANYTHING to take her daughter’s place in jail … I have no doubt that Dina would love to be in L. Lo‘s troubled shoes if it meant this level of attention and fame. Ugh … in her own sick way, Dina‘s enabling of Lindsay‘s dangerous behavior actually works out the best for her … Dina is able to bask somewhat in the attention while her daughter dangles on the hook and suffers the consequences of her recklessness. I mean, I do feel bad for Lindsay sometimes … I feel most sorry for the way the people around her refuse to help save her life.

Lindsay Lohan, who lost her lawyer mere moments after she was sentenced to spend 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab for violating the terms of her probation from her 2007 DUI conviction, ventured out of her home for the first time since she appeared in public in court earlier this week. You may be surprised to learn that Lindsay did NOT leave her house to go to a party or a nightclub, instead she made her way to an art store here in LA in order to stock up on a few supplies:

With a 90 day jail sentence looming followed by a 90 day in-patient stint at a rehab facility Lindsay Lohan is about to find herself with a lot of time on her hands. Perhaps in an attempt to while away the hours in captivity, Lohan paid a visit to Blick art materials in Los Angeles yesterday afternoon to stock up on some supplies. In true starlet fahion, Lohan was flanked by a sizeable entourage, including her attorney and close friend, Mike Heller, her mother Dina, sister Ali and rumored new girlfriend, Eilat Anschel. Oh, and five dozen or so paparazzi. Lohan had plenty to chose from at the massive store which offers discounted materials for painting, drawing, scrapbooking, crafts, kids projects and ceramics. And for the first time in days the Mean Girls star was actually spotted with a smile on her face. Lohan had been holed up in her LA apartment since her court appearance on Tuesday. The notorious party girl even skipped out on her own birthday party Wednesday night at Hollywood club Las Palmas, chosing instead to spend a low key night in with friends Kim Kardashian, Lady Victoria Hervry and Anschel. Anschel, who recently completed mandatory service in the Israeli Army, has been a ‘shoulder to cry on’ for the actress in recent times, according to sources. In an interview with America’s Entertainment Tonight set to air tonight, Lohan’s mother, Dina says her 24-year-old daughter is ‘scared to death’ about going to jail. Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail after violating her probation, and a further 90 days in rehab. Dina says Lohan was ‘completely blindsided’ by the prison term. She said the actress believed she was in complete compliance with the terms of her parole and that the outcome of the day in court was to be the removal of her SCRAM bracelet. ‘It’s very difficult, we’re not sleeping well, we’re not functioning,’ she says. ‘We cry a lot and we hug a lot. She’s petrified, we all are. We’re angry. We’re disappointed in the system.’ Dina also said the star does not need rehab, adding: ‘I know my daughter is clean and sober today. I know that for a fact.’

Ugh, it is exactly this kind of enabling behavior on Dina Lohan‘s part that will ensure that Lindsay‘s downward spiral will continue unfettered. I can’t even convey how disgusted I am with the “parenting” that Dina hands down to her children. It it my humble opinion that if Dina truly loved her daughter, she would stop coddling her, would stop making excuses for her and would stop denying that her daughter is in dire need of drug and alcohol rehabilitation. While I absolutely believe Lindsay Lohan is responsible for her own actions, I can certainly see why she does the things that she does and why she turned out the way that she did.

As for this trip to the art supplies shop, I guess it’s possible that she was lookin’ for new art projects to keep her bizzy in the 2 weeks of freedom she has left before she has to report to jail. Or, maybe she’s planning to paint other messages on her fingernails?
