Donna Martin returns to TV
Tori Spelling Films First Scenes For ’90210’

Woot! The day that longtime Beverly Hills, 90210 fans never thought would arrive has finally come to pass … Tori Spelling reprised her role as Donna Martin yesterday on the set of the spin-off show 90210 as she filmed her first scenes with former co-star Jennie Garth (as Kelly Taylor) and newcomer Jessica Stroup (as Erin Silver). Here are the first pics of Donna, Kelly and Silver in 90210-land:

The reunion of Tori Spelling’s Donna and Jennie Garth’s Kelly on the CW’s 90210 is an attention-grabber for fans of the original drama. Put the actresses in a Rolls-Royce convertible to film a scene in the heart of Beverly Hills and the paparazzi are thrilled as well. A dozen or more photographers gathered Monday to grab shots of the pair, who starred in the 1990s Fox hit Beverly Hills 90210. Spelling is joining the CW sequel, which features Garth, for a multi-episode arc that begins airing April 14. It was the first time the CW show lived up to the 90210 zip code by filming in Beverly Hills. Spelling is used to being a paparazzi magnet. She shrugged off the attention and called it “just another day out.”

Yay! I suppose it was a bit too much to hope that Tori, Jennie and Shannen Doherty would be reunited for Tori‘s first scene on the show but … I’ll take what I can get. I am SO relieved that the dispute between Tori Spelling the 90210 producers has been resolved so that she can return to the show and bring Donna Martin back to life. I’ve always contended that the dispute came down to money and I personally believe that one side or the other caved (my guess is that Tori decided to take the money they were willing to pay her). In the end, tho, Donna Martin is back … and full of botox! I’m sure Tori‘s puffy face has everything to do with the role she’s playing as a Beverly Hills housewife. Uh uh. Remember, former BH, 90210 star Jason Priestly is directing this episode featuring Tori Spelling‘s debut on the show … and it will air on The CW on April 14. Mark your calendars, it’s gonna be a big night for pop culture fans.

So ready for her close-up
Tori Spelling Is Ready To Join The Cast Of ’90210’

A couple of weeks ago we learned that Tori Spelling was in final negotiations to reprise her star-making role of Donna Martin on the Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off series 90210 … and today we get to see just how much hard work Tori achieved so that she could return to the world of 90210 in the best shape possible:

Seven months after giving birth to her second child, Tori Spelling has regained her figure – and just in time too. The Hollywood actress, who gave birth to daughter Stella via C-section in June, has signed on for a reoccurring role in new 90210 as Donna Martin, the same character she played on her father Aaron Spelling’s original TV show. She is set to reunite with her former co-stars Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth, who also signed on to the show last year. Before landing the contract, Tori, 35, said: “My dad always wanted to do a new version of 90210, so I’m sure he will be beaming from above! And I’d love to somehow be a part of it. That as well would make my dad proud.” Tori, who also has a 2-year-old son Liam with her husband Dean McDermott, worked hard to regain her physique ahead of the part. She told InTouch magazine: “When I got my body back after Liam, I was happy. But this time, I was like ‘I kick ass!’ I’m a working mum of two, so to know I did it all my myself was huge.” The 35-year-old gained 3.5st during her pregnancy which she shed steadily after the birth with the help of a healthy diet and exercise. “Breakfast was yogurt, fruit and nuts. Lunch was homemade soup with a sweet potato or soy milk base. We’d snack on celery and peanut butter, and then I’d make lean protein with vegetables for dinner. I would go for long walks or biking with the kids. We’d do physical activities every day. I’m proud! I could’ve gotten here sooner if I was fanatical and worked out extensively every day, but I’m glad I didn’t. I’m so happy I did it with my family and in a healthy way.”

Wow! Tori looks great! It’s clear that she’s been working really hard behind the scenes in order to get her body in shape to rival the skinnys who inhabit the world of 90210. I’ve held from the beginning that Tori Spelling deserves to be on the show with her BH, 90210 cohorts so Donna Martin‘s introduction on the show is way overdue. I can’t wait to see Donna make her grand entrance on the show. At this point, we aren’t sure when Donna Martin will be returning to 90210 but I hope it’s soon … we’ve waited too long already. Any guesses on what sort of drama Donna may bring along with her? Do y’all think she’ll still be married to David Silver? Do tell!!

Make way for Donna Martin!
Tori Spelling In Final Negotiations To Return To ’90210’

Momlogic is reporting that Tori Spelling is in “final negotiations” to join her Beverly Hills, 90210 cohorts Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty on The CW hit spin-off 90210 and reprise her career-making role as Donna Martin! As you may recall, Tori was originally supposed to join the cast of the show when it debuted last Fall but reports of in-fighting and outrageous wage demands suggested that a deal was not possible between studio and actress (oh yeah, and there was that little matter of that baby that she gave birth to upsetting filming schedules). Something tells me that Spelling is no longer willing to play hardball and has succumbed to the studios parameters for her return:

EXCLUSIVE! Momlogic has learned the mother of two Tori Spelling is in final negotiations to return to West Beverly High! According to a well-placed source at the CW, the return of Tori Spelling as Donna Martin the new “90210″s inception is almost a reality. We’re told the actress is in “final negotiations” to return to the show alongside Jennie Garth and Shannon Doherty.

TV Guide adds that it’s pretty much a done deal and that Jason Priestly will direct her return to 90210land:

Tori Spelling is about to sign a deal to reunite with Jennie Garth and Jason Priestley to shoot Donna Martin’s return to 90210, reports TV Guide’s senior editor Will Keck. Priestley will direct Spelling’s debut on the show, currently scheduled to be shot at the end of January. While salary reportedly squashed Tori’s initial plans to return to the show, recent negotiations were storyline-specific. Spelling, whose father Aaron Spelling created the original 90’s series, maintains a deep affinity for the character and only wanted to return if the material met her standards. The CW had hoped to close Spelling’s deal in time for the actress to join her castmates at a party Monday night, but she is currently in Vancouver shooting her second episode of Smallville as a Daily Planet reporter with the ability to melt.

This is awesome news! Last night’s ep of 90210 was pretty awesome … but the whole time I kept thinking about how the show was really missing something — Donna freakin’ Martin! Now that Brenda is going thru her problem, she’s gonna need more than just Kelly to help see her thru it. It’s the perfect time for Donna to return. I really hope that everything with this deal gets squared away properly, once and for all. Then, at last, the holy trinity of Brenda, Kelly and Donna can be whole again! Woot!!

The TV Guide
My Top Movies & TV Shows Of 2008

Just like it was for music, 2008 wasn’t really a great year for movies or television … the Writer’s Strike at the start of the year really decimated Hollywood and severely hurt television programming. That said, there were a few really amazing films (highlighted by really amazing acting performances) and a select few TV shows that really brought the entertainment this year. Here is my list of my Fave Movies of 2008 … I think the #1 pick might surprise you.

At #10 is The Incredible Hulk:

This movie may not have been the best superhero film of all time but it beat the hell out of Ang Lee‘s Hulk and really did a service to both the comic book series and the TV series from the ’70s. This film really paid homage to the beloved TV series for the first half of the film and then represented the comic books very well in the second half of the film. All I know is that I had a really good time at the movies watching this film … and isn’t that what’s most important?

At #9 is W.:

Oliver Stone films are really hit or miss and this one was a pretty nice hit. Josh Brolin played a superb GWB and managed to put our soon-to-be ex-president in real context. I am no GWB fan by any stretch of the imagination but this film actually made him a sympathetic character. Props to Oliver Stone for actually doing the impossible.

In the #8 position is Doubt:

This film is all about the acting. And among the amazing acting performances, Meryl Streep far outshines everyone else in this film. She absolutely turned in the most powerful acting performance this year … she absolutely deserves all the Best Actress awards and, IMHO, the Best Actor awards as well — she is that good in this film. I feel bad for Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams, who both turned in exceptional performances, cuz Streep just steals the spotlight. She made this movie such a delight for me to watch.

At #7 is Milk:

At long last, the story of Harvey Milk‘s life made it to the big screen … and Sean Penn did his memory a great service. Milk may not have been a blockbuster but it is a very important story that is told so expertly that I wish it had made more money at the box office. Penn‘s cast of supporting actors were also pretty phenomenal … as a whole they told a tale that an entire generation of people were hearing for the first time — which was eerily similar to the events that were playing out on the streets of SoCal this past November.

At #6 is WALL•E:

OMG … what can I say about WALL•E that hasn’t been said a million times before? The movie is just cute as hell and actually caused kids and grown adults alike to fall in love with a sweet little animated trash compactor. I had my doubts about this film before I saw it for myself … but man, once I saw it — I was hooked. WALL•E is absolutely the Best Animated Film of 2008.

AnnaLynne McCord Suffers A Wardrobe Malfunction On Set

You know, in Tinsel Town, you really haven’t reached the level of Hollywood “It” Girldom until you’ve achieved your first wardrobe malfunction. In previous years, wardrobe malfunctions (specifically of the crotch shot variety) seemed like a daily occurrence but this year, there haven’t been that many NSFW moments to be had … until now. AnnaLynne McCord, who stars as the beyotchy Naomi Clark on 90210, accidentally popped out of her top as she tried to make her way from her tralier to the beach set of the show yesterday afternoon. While filming in Long Beach, CA, Miss McCord‘s nipple slipped out of her top to say hello to the folks on set:

After the jump, check out AnnaLynne‘s unfortunate NSFW slip up out …

Jennie Garth shows her opposition to Prop 8
Shannen Doherty Back On The ’90210′ Set

She’s baaaaack! Shannen Doherty joined the cast of The CW series 90210 on set at the Gay and Lesbian Center in Hollywood this weekend. I assume that an upcoming ep of the show may have a gay storyline but it could just be that the center will merely stand-in as something else on the show. In any event, Shannen was proudly showing off a new dude on set but it was unclear what, if any, the state of their relationship is. Jennie Garth was also on set, proudly showing off a No on Prop 8 sign she got from the Gay and Lesbian Center to show her disdain for the discriminatory proposition’s passage here in California:

As we learned previously, Shannen was asked back to appear in two more eps of the series later on in the season and it looks like she’s begun work filming those eps. No word on if any other Beverly Hills, 90210 alums will be appearing on the spin-off this season but at least now we know that Shannen is back for sure. I just love that Jennie Garth has joined the chorus of celebs who are vocalizing (in whatever way they can) their opposition to Prop 8 in this State. I understand another round of protests are taking place today … and for the foreseeable future. A few Pink readers have asked if I knew of any planned protests coming up so I offer THIS link to a list of events that should be updated as new events are planned.

In any event, it’s great to see Shannen back to work again (we’ll see if this new guy turns out to be someone relevant) and to see Jennie be so awesome :)

Make way for the merchandising
’90210’: The T-Shirts

A few castmembers from the new CW series 90210 made their way out to the Kitson boutique in West Hollywood, CA last night for the red carpet launch of a new line of t-shirts that promote the show. Back in the early ’90′s, Beverly Hills, 90210 spawned a crush of merchandising options (from frisbees to dolls to perfume) and it looks like the new gang at West Beverly High are trying to get in on that action with a new line of stuff of their own. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s in-store launch event at Kitson:

I don’t personally think that the new batch of 90210 stuff is gonna be as popular as their predecessor’s merchandise but I can’t blame them for striking while the iron is hot. I think they might want to come up with better shirt slogans than Lacrosse Players Do It Better but the Team Silver and Team Naomi shirts are cute, if not inventive. If YOU are interested in procuring these 90210-themed t-shirts you can pop in to Kitson on Robertson Blvd. or order them online HERE. Never fear old skoolers, they’ve got a couple faux vintage BH, 90210 designs as well.

"It's going to be a lot of fun"
Jason Priestley Talks About His Return To ’90210’

On Wednesday we learned that Jason Priestley, who rose to fame playing the role of Brandon Walsh on the hit 90′s series Beverly Hills, 90210, will be returning to the world of 90210 … not as an actor but as a director. This morning, Priestley spoke with Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM morning radio show to discuss his return:

Jason Priestley is looking forward to returning to CW’s 90210 — as director! “It’s going to be a lot of fun to work over there and work with those guys,” he said Friday on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show. Priestley — who directed 18 episodes of the original series on Fox — has just one wish before he steps behind the camera. “I just hope Jennie’s in the episode — or Shannen’s there,” he told Seacrest, referring to stars Garth and Doherty. “Rob Estes and I have been friends for a long time. It’ll be fun.” Does he keep in touch with any of his former 90210 co-stars? “I talk to Jennie all the time,” he said. “We’re actually neighbors. She’s having a really good time over there.” Priestley — who has appeared on some shows, including the short-lived CBS comedy Love Monkey — said it’ll take a whole new role before he goes back on camera again. “In the last two series I’ve done I sort of played tertiary characters,” he said. “In the next show, I need to carry the freight a little more. That’s where I need to be.”

Yeah, Jason Priestley hasn’t really had great success in front of the camera on any other TV series since his BH, 90210 days. Altho I kinda liked him on the short-lived series Tru Calling (which starred Eliza Dushku), he will always be Brandon Walsh to me … whether he’s in front of the camera or behind. Hopefully having him back on the 90210 set will get him inspired to take on the role of Brandon Walsh again … my money says that he will re-Brandonify in front of the camera once again.

This time Jessica Lowndes & Adam Gregory hook-up
Another Real Life Romance On ’90210’

Last week we learned that 90210 co-stars Jessica Stroup and Dustin Milligan have sparked up a real life off screen romance together when Dustin was caught doing the walk of shame after spending the night before at Jessica‘s LA pad. Today we learn that other 90210 co-stars Jessica Lowndes and Adam Gregory (who play Adrianna Duncan and Ty Collins, respectively) have also hooked-up together when they were spied engaging in a little shopping together here in LA earlier this week:

Now, just because Jessica and Adam spent an afternoon together shopping doesn’t necessarily mean that they are romantically involved … but there is some hand-holding going on in these pics and you will note that Adam is happily carrying Jessica‘s shopping bags from Intuition — a sure sign that the couple are truly, madly, deeply in love with one another, yes? I gots ta say, I’m not really feelin’ Adam‘s new facial hair … it’s not a good look for him and he should shave immediately, thanks! And how about last night’s ep of 90210, y’all? Despite the severe lack of any of the old skoolers, I was pretty entertained by the episode. I can’t say that I wasn’t expecting that cliffhanger but I am very intrigued to see how it will play out in next week’s ep.

Shannon Doherty is comin' back, too!
Jason Priestley Returns To ’90210’ … Kinda

Entertainment Weekly magazine is reporting that Jason Priestly has agreed to return to the world of 90210 … but, before all you Brandon Walsh fans start celebrating, there is a caveat — he will be returning as a director, not as an actor. While Jason will not be reprising his role as Brandon in front of the cameras (at least, not yet), he has agreed to step behind the cameras to direct at least one episode of 90210. In more positive news for Beverly Hills, 90210 fans, EW also reports that Shannen Doherty (who just recently ended her 5-ep run on the new 90210) is close to securing a deal that will bring her back as Brenda Walsh for at least 2 more eps later on in the season:

Beverly Hills’ original side-burned heartthrob is back! Sort of. Jason Priestley has agreed to do an episode of The CW’s 90210 later this season, but you won’t see him — he’ll be behind the camera, working as a director. Sources confirm to EW.com’s Michael Ausiello exclusively that Priestley will helm this season’s 18th episode, which is slated to air this spring. Meanwhile, a 90210 insider also reveals that Priestley’s TV sis, Shannen Doherty, is nearing a deal to return for two more episodes later this season. Executive producer Gabe Sachs would only confirm that she’s “in talks,” but my 90210 spy insists “she’s coming back. The deal isn’t officially done, but it’s happening.” Might one of Doherty’s two episodes be the Priestley-directed installment? Sachs says that’s TBD. “I think it would be a kick for Jason to work with any of his [former 90210 costars], and it would also add something special to that episode,” he says. “But we don’t know whether that will happen yet.” A more likely scenario has Priestley bossing around his other leading lady, Jennie Garth, who’s back for at least six episodes — despite what the actress herself told Ausiello at EW’s pre-Emmy party last month. “That was a misunderstanding,” whispers a source.

Woot! Any news that involves of the BH, 90210 alums to return in any way, shape or form to the new world of 90210 is great news. Knowing that Jason Priestly is amenable to returning as a director means that he may be willing to reprise his role as Brandon Walsh … which may lure, mebbe, Luke Perry to return as Dylan McKay (who, whether he likes it or not, already figures very importantly in the new version of 90210 as Kelly Taylor‘s babydaddy). I really don’t understand the hesitation on the part of the male actors from BH, 90210 that is keeping them from running back to reprise the roles that made them very famous but … mebbe they’re playing hard to get? In any event, I am very much looking forward to Shannen Doherty‘s return later on in the season (I mean, you KNEW she was comin’ back). Now, if they could only figure out a way to get Tori Spelling back as Donna Martin … that would rule all. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we may, one day, have a great West Beverly High Class of 1993 class reunion, doesn’t that sound like the most awsomest idea ever?
